G570 TouchPad disabling problem

Hi!
I recently bought a new Lenovo G570 Laptop and immediately updated the BIOS (so I can't tell if it worked before). Everything seems to be working perfect, but I found that Fn-F6 (enable/disable touchpad) is not working and the TouchPad is stuck enabled. It's really bothering me, is this a BIOS problem or just wrong Windows configuration?

  • T60; Touchpad disabled; No "Touchpad" option on BIOS

    dear community members,
since I restaged XP, my touchpad isn't working and is permanently disabled. Symptoms are:
    a) On ThinkPad Configuration utility, the TouchPad item is grayed and can't be checked
    b) when Fn+F8, three options appears: (1) Enable trackpoing and touchpad (2) Enable trackpoint only (3) Enable touchpad only. Even when I choose option (1), the touchpad isn't enabled
    c) when launching UltraNav wizard, message is: "Touchpad is disabled from BIOS. Please enable it from BIOS or the ThinkPad configuration utility"
    d) on the BIOS utility, there is no option for Touchpad under Config/Keyboard Mouse
    BIOS was updated today
    Trackpoint works OK
    UltraNav shows Touchpad disabled (grayed)
Device manager doesn't shows any error.
Can someone understand what is happening ?

  • IOS 6.1.3 WIFI button disable problem on iPhone4S - It is definitely a BUG

    Hi Apple Fans
I have a full house of Apple products from iPhone -> iPAD -> iPod -> Mac -> AirPort, and I am suffering from WIFI button disable problem after upgrade to iOS 6.1.3, without any clue after calling Apple Support, factory reset and reload iPhone for more than 10 times.  I also try all tips on Apple Support Communicties except put it into a freezer, still no any luck.  Apple Support suggests that my iPhone may be factly!
Tonight, I can get my WIFI back in below sequence:
    1. Switch to English language from Chinese
    2. Turn Cellular Data Option to off
    3. Reset Network Setting
After the phone reset, the WIFI row show 'Not Connected', and I can select my home WIFI (Airport Express) without trouble.  To prove my finding is workable to all case, can you try the same and update here if it works for you?
    Good Luck!
PS: I always believe it is a BUG.

    Hi,
I sympathise with you as my iPhone 4s is 7 months old and is also greyed out.  I tried everthing except the potentially stupid one of putting the iphone in a freezer!  I took the phone back to the vendor who sent it away and repaired it.  But alas after a month it is greyed out again.  I have again returned to the vendor and he will repair it again.  I asked him how and he told me it is a software conflict and he has to spend around 9 hours downloading a patch repair.  Apple are aware of this issue and I feel completely let down because they have not posted a fix on the net.  Presently I am living and working in Dubai, back in the UK I am sure my iPhone would have been exchanged for a new one.  I need my iPhone for my work and cannot afford to just buy a new one so I have been let down and despite for years being a supporter of Apple and their products I shall think twice before investing in any more Apple products.

  • Touchpad touchscreen problems (erratic behavior/not responding correctly/etc) temporary solution.

I bought a HP Touchpad about a month or two after it came out. It worked pretty much as you'd expect it to until some time ago. I started getting a problem where the screen would go crazy and not respond correctly to my touch inputs. Web pages would jump all over the place, cards would zoom out, etc, in other words, they would behave erratically. After some testing I noticed that certain areas  of the touchscreen would NOT respond at all to inputs while others would make the screen go crazy like I mentioned previously. I looked for information on the web to see if other people where having the same problem and found reports of the same behavior. Unfortunately there where no solutions offered. At that point I tried turning on and off the Touchpad which did not resolve the problem. My next step was to try to reinstall the OS with WebOS Doctor, but I read a post where the user reported similar behavior and reinstalling with WebOS Doctor didn't fix the problem. Needless to say I was bummed out since I figured it was a hardware problem with the touchscreen. After more testing I found a temporary solution to the problem which seems to suggest that the probem could be software. The solution when you get the problem is to hold down the power button and the home button at the same time and keep them pressed until the screen shuts down and the touchpad restarts. Once the OS comes back up it works like it is supposed to until you get the next episode of screen epilepsy. At that point you need to do the procedure again and it will fix the problem temporarily. Usually the fix lasts for a few days in my case. The fix also solves other problems I have with the touchpad. Problems like, videos not playing fluidly or freezing every few seconds although the sound plays fine (youtube), sound gets messed up (sounds are played in a robot like pitch), and others. If anybody has questions or other suggestions let me know, I will answer the as best as I can.
Post relates to: HP TouchPad (WiFi)

I think the YouTube and sound problems are separate from the other erratic behaviour.  Recently my touchpad won't play YouTube videos beyond certain points, starting a few seconds in possibly due to the advertising pop-ups - I can skip forwards, but that means I miss crucial parts.  My sound also goes 'robot-like' until a reboot, which is incredibly annoying!  Your touchscreen problems may be specific to your device - try going to Device Info / Diagnostics and see if that tells you anything.

  • Macbook pro touchpad/curser problems.

macbook pro touchpad curser problems.  typing randomly jumps to wherever the curser is resting at the time.  unbelievably maddening.  multiple devices same all have same problem.  hard to believe we cannot find anything on the apple site about this.  MANY complaints outside of this site on this issue... clearly a touchpad/battery design flaw being ignored by Cupertino.  during the writing of this post, the curser jumped randomly and started typing in a different location six times.  IMPOSSIBLE to use as a word processor since typing becomes quite frustrating.  HELP.  any ideas?  Fanboy and shareholder.  three macbook pros in the house...all the same problem. (please do not offer separate keyboard as solution...this is a laptop, not a Surface Pro...)

Go step by step and test.
    1. Restart
    2. Shut down the computer.
Clean the trackpad with moist not wet microfiber cloth.
System Preferences > Point & Click
Try turning off three finger dragging and then turning it on after  testing.

  • Touchpad disabled - but still strange problems

I have a strange issue with the touchpad in my lenovo thinkpad r500. I have disabled it using
    synclient TouchpadOff=1
in the console but when I use the trackpoint (for instance the middle mouse button for scrolling) and touch the touchpad at the same time with the palm of my hand the mouse pointer starts going crazy plus it wildly opens new tabs and pastes text that i copied before... It basically acts like im pressing a lot of key combinations at the same time.
Does anybody have the same problem or know why the touchpad reacts to being touched at all (since it should be disabled and doesn't do anything when I touch it without using the trackpoint)?
    Thanks for your help.

Download clockgen (just google it) and make sure your agp speed isn't too high.  Lots of people have reported that MSI oc's on certain settings. Even though your friends card runs fine, it might just have more oc headroom than yours.

  • Touchpad Disable/Enable & Sensitivity Problem

I am unable to Disable/ Enable the Touchpad.  Double tapping the upper left corner does not work.  Also would like to adjust it's sesitivity to touch if possible.  Any recommendations?
    Thanks,
    Cobbler

It sounds as if you’ll have best use out of your touchpad by turning off your touchpad’s "tapping" function:
    press the blue thinkvantage button
    select device configuration
    select mouse settings
    select manage settings
select the ‘ultranav’ tab along the top
    go to settings
    select ‘Tap and Drag’ tab
    disable tapping
a faster way to get to the tapping function if you later find you want to turn it on and off, is to locate the ultranav icon on lower right of your screen, left of the system time, click there, and go to touch pad settings.

  • U530 Touchpad - disable zones

    Hello all,
I've just received my brand new IdeaPad U530 Touch and I'm having a serious problems with touchpad.
I've disabled tapping and I would like to use it as a normal touchpad - left-bottom for left click, right-bottom for right click and everything else for moving the cursor.
My problem is with the last part. The zone where left\right click buttons are located is also used for moving the cursor, which is extremely annoying and confusing at the same time.
To reproduce (one of the many issues):
    1.) Go to desktop
2.) Press and hold the bottom left corner
3.) Try to select any area on the screen (hold left button and move the mouse) - this doesn't work
I would like to specify that bottom of the touchpad is used ONLY for pressing buttons and not for moving the cursor, this makes my life really miserable at the moment.
    Thanks,
    Martin

I have a different machine (a thinkpad) and had a similar issue.  It is possible that the touchpad may be trying to interpret having 2 fingers on at once as a 2-finger gesture -- on my machine, I was able to go to the touchpad settings and adjust a property called "Gesture Filtering" to create a larger zone in the bottom of the touchpad.  With this change, I am able to rest one finger on the bottom of the touchpad while using another to move the pointer around.  Hope this helps

  • G570 Touchpad

Hi, first of all, I'm sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere, but my quick search didn't turn anything up. After many years of using Dells, I got a G570 and there are some issues I'm trying to fix with the touchpad. Is there a way for me to assign pressing the left and right touchpad buttons together to the mouse 3 function? I imagine this has been asked before, but couldn't figure out concise search terms. Also, when I click and drag something (like the volume control in a youtube video), my mouse continues dragging even after I release the button. I have to click again to release, which is really annoying. I accidentally mute videos, jump up and down pages sporadically when I'm dragging the side scroll bar, etc. all the time. I've tried changing the device settings in mouse properties, but this hasn't done anything (I thought unchecking tap and drag would fix the problem but it hasn't). Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks!

    hi crisbo
i'm not sure if it helps but can you try to remove the current touchpad divers, restart your computer and let windows install the drivers automatically?
if it doesn't help, updating the drivers may help you to solve the issue.

  • Touchpad R500 problem

    Hello
I have Thinkpad R500, I was facing Fan error every time when I started laptop so decided to clean fan and opened laptop and now fan is okay but an other problem occured now Touch pad and Thinkpad Ultra Nav not working, it seems to be hardware problem, when I disable touchpad in BIOS then Utra Nav is functional but when both are enabled  then none of both working. Any help?

Hi Eric and welcome to Apple Discussions,
If your Macbook has a removable battery, plug in your charger and take out the battery.
If your trackpad works OK you probably have a swollen battery which pushes up on the bottom of the trackpad and stops it working.
Replace with a new battery and you should be fine.
    Regards from England,
    Alan

  • 8570p Laptop touchpad different problem

I am aware of the feature that enables and disables the touchpad (the tap on the upper left hand corner).  I use the touchpad all the time and my problem is that it's a great feature--if you're right handed. As a southpaw, I am constantly turning the touchpad off and having to double tap the upper left corner to re-enable it. Besides suggesting to HP that they hire some left-handed people to test their products, I wonder if there is a way to disable the shutoff function of the touchpad so I don't have to stop and re-enable it every few minutes. I want the touchpad to work all the time!
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Open windows Control Panel, open Mouse, select the Clickpad Settings tab and then click the Clickpad Settings button - the option you need to disable is called 'Tap To Disable' - the actual location of this will vary a little depending on your touchpad hardware/software but should be similar to the example below.  When the option has been de-selected, click 'Close' on the first window and then Apply and Ok in the remaining one.
    Best regards,

  • Touchpad BIG PROBLEM

Hi, I've a problem with my HP's touchpad. The click don't work. The scroll and the two buttons below still going on. I've tried to install the Synaptics TouchPad Driver (I found the 15.0.17.2 REV and then 15.0.24 REV) but nothing it's changed. Any idea? Thank for the help.

  • Enable/Disable Problem?

In the last few weeks, I kept experiencing problems while
watching certain movies, specifically at IGN. Half-way though a
problem would pop up, and end up shutting down the movie and my
browser. It said there was a problem with something to do with
Flash 9, and I clicked 'Advanced' and wound up in this
disable/enable screen and I disabled the thing that seemed to be
the problem but it must have been the wrong thing to do.
Now I can't play any movie anywhere. All I need to do is find
the folder or place where I was earlier and enable it but I have no
idea how to get back to that options screen for Flash.

  • Lenovo ideapad s405 touchpad mouse problem

    Hi to all
I bought this laptop a week ago and I installed windows 8 pro edition
I have a problem: when I press a button in the keyboard I can't move the touchpad (so I can't use,for example, games because I can't move the the view of the character)
What can I do? There aren't problems when I push CTRL or ALT or buttons that don't write something. Thanks

    hi Razorbacktrack,
Your issue might be similar to this thread.
If your PC came with a Synaptics Touchpad, can you try to:
    1. Go to the Control Panel (large icon view) then > click Mouse > Device Settings tab > Settings
    2. Under the Synaptics Settings, go to Pointing > Sensitivity > Palmcheck and set the palm sensitivity to minimum and test the game.
    Spoiler (Highlight to read)
If you have an ELAN touchpad, try to:
    3. Adjust the PalmTracking option under Additional Tab on the ELAN Smart Pad settings to the minimum (see spoiler)
4.If same problem, press WindowsKey+R then type appwiz.cpl. From the program list, uninstall lenovo pointing device, reboot.the PC and test (you can re-install this later by nagvigating to D:\Drivers\Touchpad).
    Spoiler (Highlight to read)
    Let me know your findings.
    Cheers

  • Elitebook 8570w - Windows 7 - How to turn off light when touchpad disabled

I much prefer to use the styk rather than the touch pad, and I lay my hands on the computer in such a way that I can accidentally trigger the touch pad when it is on.  So with laptops I usually just go to the device manager and disable the touch pad entirely.
However, on my Elitebook 8570w, when I disable the touch pad, this extremely bright orange light comes on.  It's extremely annoying, especially in low light situations, where I often have to work with my laptop.
How can I disable this light while the touchpad is disabled?

    Hello noshius,
Your EliteBook is a Business model.  Your issue would be best answered on the HP Enterprise Business Community Forum
