G580 (2189) How Increasing dedicated video memory? (HD graphics 4000)

g580 (2189) i5-3230M hd Graphics 4000 video memory size is set only 32MB!! And there is not bios setting to increase memory to 64 or 128mb?? why?

We are really sorry to hear about the issue you are facing,
Intel(R) video controllers do not have dedicated memory. They all use shared memory from the RAM installed on the system and reserved to the video controller through a technology called DVMT (Dynamic Video Memory Technology), which dynamically adjust the amount depending on how much is needed.
The driver uses a small amount (~32MB) of driver for internal housekeeping purposes- that memory is taken at boot time. All other memory needed is dynamically allocated to graphics as it is needed - up to 1.7GB on a 4GB system. This is more than enough for all applications that you would be running.

This setting (Memory Remapping) is set to Automatic.
changing it is not available like on most laptop,
Increasing the RAM can help on increasing the shared amount for the Integrated Graphics.

Thanks for your response. My issue is that I tried playing GTA 4 today and on the graphics settings it lets you know how much memory is being used for graphics and how much is required for the desired settings. Even on the lowest settings it requires about 200mb however it said it was only utilising 60mb even though there is lots of ram allocated to standby.

Hi, Simply say: you can't. System will automatically allocate/assign available system RAM to graphics up to max supported. By the way, that machine is not a games machine. If you wish to play games on laptop, please set aside around $2,000. Regards.

I am confused about my dedicated video memory. I was told by the salesman that I got 1 GB dedicated video memory to play high end graphic games. What I could find is only 32 MB dedicated video memory in the system and 1024 MB in Geforce. So please help me. Will I get performance of 1 GB dedicated video memory performance?
Also got a query regarding the LSC's error message regarding Device Manager alert. I could not find any error in the device manager.

The 32mb of video ram is whats built into the dedicated GPU on the morherboards CPU.
The ram you have installed will also be used by the processor to keep your system running smoothly.
The Geforce however is a discreet Graphics card connected via PCE-E on the motherboard, Your Geforce has 1GB which equals 1024 mb of dedicated ram used for graphics intensive programes.
The idea is that if you are playing a game that requires more power your Geforce should overide the onboard graphics to provide the extra power needed.
As for LSC, Make sure you have the latest version 2.3.002, Once installed re-run hardware scan, That should fix any Driver missing issues.

It says:
Mobile Intel GMA X3100. Up to 358MB of shared video memory
Unfortunately the Intel Graphics solutions are not designed to have great 3D performance.
You need an ATI(AMD) or nVidia graphics chip for decent performance.
If you want to play the latest games, you will need to lower the resolution and use low graphics settings.
Note that many games need special DirectX/OpenGL features to run, which the Intel chip may not have.
I imagine older games like FarCry1 will run ok

Why does my Macbook Air only have 64MB of dedicated video memory

Hello, I created a windows partition on my Macbook Air and after going into my Display settings I see that it only has 64MB of dedicated video memory out of 1696MB. Please tell me how I can fix this problem as I should have much more Dedicated memory from my Macbook air.
Additional INFO: MacBook Air Early 2014 edition, and has Intel 5000.

Hey thanks a lot for the quick reply Loner, however, I'm not really sure what you mean (sorry I'm a bit slow when it comes to computers). I checked out your link, and when I do the same steps as in the link by going into screen resolution> advanced> adapter: it shows Total Available Graphics Memory- 1696MB, and Dedicated Video Memory 64MB, but it only uses 64MB, it doesn't use more when it needs to.
I tried playing GTA 4 on my laptop via bootcamp, and in-game it tells me my laptop is only using 64MB of video memory and the game requires at least 260 or so, and my laptop won't use more (at least I'm pretty sure it is not using more or the game wouldn't give me that mssg).

Integrated Graphics*Integrated video is not available if a graphics card is installed.
Supports PCI Express x16 graphics cards.
Either integrated graphics or the PCI Express x16 slot are usable at one time; they are not usable concurrently.

The answer is no, not available. If you wish more, you can upgrade video card using the PCI Express x16 slot . Your machine has 300W PSU, you need to buy a card which can run with 300W PSU otherwise you need a new PSU.

I want to install dedicated video memory/graphics

I want to install dedicated video memory. I have macbook pro 13 inch late 2011 model with intel hd 3000 graphics. If not possible can i install additional ram and dedicate it to video graphics.
I want to play games like GTA 4 and other semi high end games that require dedicated memory cards.

I just bought this perhaps wont sell it ever, Saved a whole lot money for a year for a macbook. I wanted to use final cut and stuff,
I read that if you upgrade the ram to 8 gb you may get something like 512 mb of video dedicated memory, currently it is 384.
Guess, I made a somewhat okay choice.
and glad that i did not go for sony or other brand, coz mac may be a lil expensive, but it is an experience in its own.
like th feel of operating system , and everything is so coll, the multitouch pad, is so convenient.

I am trying to use Cyberlinks PowerDirector 12 which requires a specific amount of dedicated video memory. When I run DxDiag it shows only 32M of dedicated memory. Can I set the minimum amount of dedicated video memory?

Welcome to the Forums.
May I know the lenovo system that you use (model or type)?
In most lenovo systems, you can't adjust the video memory as this is auto-allocated by the system's BIOS (this is certain if you have a unit with an integrated Graphics as the memory is shared with the RAM).

HP 15 d002tx Dedicated Video Memory

I had purchased a new Laptop ModelNo.HP 15-d002tx with NVIDIA GeForce 820M DDR3 1GB Dedicated Video Memory.
Despite successful installation of all necessary drivers I still could not see the Dedicated Video Memory being displayed as 1GB. I had written an email to [email protected] on the 22nd July 2014 but there is no response yet. I had also chatted with one HP Expert expert on the issue, but there is solution.
The latest Graphics Drivers installed are Intel HD Graphics 4000 Version- 10.18.10.3621 and NVIDIA GeForce 820M Version-9.18.13.3788. My Operating Sytem is Windows 8.1.
Kindly let me know if there is anything wrong with my newly purchased laptop.

785GM-P45 with 1GB dedicated video memory in bios

has anyone able to allocate 1GB for dedicated video memory in bios and has at least 8GB of RAM. i had already updated the bios to version 11.8, with any 3 sticks of kingston 2GB RAM I can allocate 1GB for video memory in the bios, but the minute that i have the 4th stick install, the pc will not complete boot into windows. with only 3 sticks, it doesn't matter which memory slot is open, it will boot into windows and shows 1GB dedicated video memory. all the RAM tested fine with remtest. with all 4 stick install it will only boot into windows with 512mb dedicated video memory. thanks in advance.

How do you increase shared video memory?

I own an iMac with 256mb of shared video memory and have been dying to find a way of making the computer use more of my 8gb of RAM for video memory than it currently is (specifically for an improved gaming performance). Does anyone know of a way? Thanks in advance.

Shared video memory? What's that? Your computer has ram, your video card has ram. You can change the amount of ram in your computer. But your video card is what it is. It cannot be changed.
I think what your want is more ram for your computer. Go to OWC to see possible choices for your model. You don't have to buy there if you don't want (but I always recommend them). But at least you will see what choices are available to you.
