G580 Intel I3-2348M, what cpu upgrades can be done?

I'm writing to you, because I have a G580 /20150/ laptop with an i3-2348M CPU and I want to upgrade it to a higher level CPU ,i5/i7 if it possible. I know that my motherboard has a 988b socket, so I want to ask you, please tell me the list of those CPU-s , which are compatibile with my configuration. I'm attaching a photo of my laptop's specs. I1m looking forward to your answers!

hi simond930203,
Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Thisis the Hardware Maintenance Manual of that system
http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/lenovo_g480_g485_g580_g585_g780_hmm_v1.0_english.pdf
Check this manual at pg. 101 for compatible CPU that would work on the system
Also use that manual as your reference on replacing the part.
Make sure to check the Chipset model of your system and check that chipset model with Intel website and confirm that the CPU you want is listed there.
Regards
Solid Cruver

what hardware upgrades can i do on my pavilion dv6700? such as ram, cpu, hard drive, etc?

    Hi,
As you already mentioned above, 2 items you can upgrade for your machine:
    1. CPU: Please refer to the following book to find out processors supported from day 1:
      h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01295877.pdf
    2. RAM & HDD: Please check this:
      http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware/HP-pavillion-dv6700-hard-drive-and-RAM/td-p/95023
Probably spending a bit more money for a new machine is much better than upgrading the old machine.
    Good luck.

  • Migration is in progress and thus upgrade can be done as soon as migration is 100% complete.

When I click on the "Upgrade Options" button on one of my C670s I get this message:
Migration is in progress and thus upgrade can be done as soon as migration is 100% complete.
    Any thoughts?

Usually the only thing we see w/ migration message and % is during PVO setup and migration to SMA.  If that is the case... there could be stale or incomplete messages that did not migration or get accounted for.  Suggestion would be to disable CPQ from the ESA side, commit changes, and then re-review and enable the CPQ/PVO to see what occurs.  This should clear out after that has checked itself.

my phone got wet a year ago and dried out...I was in fla on vacation and it died last week. what if anything can be done?  Only assuming the humidity caused the phone to be "wet" again.

The best you can do is a 149$ out of warrenty fee for the device to get it repaired.

  • HP8000 elite SFF; what CPU upgrades are available

I've just bought an HP 8000 Elite SFF desktop (WB717ET#ABU) with a Pentium DualCore E5400 CPU running at 2.7GHz.
I was wondering what CPUs the Motherboard (Rev 0C by the looks of it) could accept in order to squeeze more performance out of it (and how simple such a CPU upgrade would be)?
    This question was solved.

This image is from the maintenence manual for the HP 8000 Elite
Upgrading to a Core 2 Quad Processor or a Core 2 Duo would be a great improvement in power.

  • HT1338 What hardware upgrades can I do to a Macbook Pro?

Can the CPU be upgraded and what is the max ram?

An SSD replaces your hard drive. Unfortunately they are kind of small in comparison, so you may need to stick with a hard drive. A SSD uses flash memory like a USB drive, except in place of your hard drive. The speed increase is phenominal. This will replace your drive so you will need to reload OS X which is easy thanks to Internet Recovery.
Kingston makes a 64GB model that is decent, I have one in an older original MacBook and it feels so much snappier. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139949
         http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226318
They vary in all different capacities and speeds. Not all SSD's are created equal.
Follow the instructions in your MacBooks manual to upgrade the drive.
You will need a 2.5 inch SATAIII SSD if you choose to go that way.
Between the SSD and the RAM upgrade you have a beast of a machine.

  • CPU-Upgrades: can Sonnet and PowerLogix Firmware live next to each other?

    Hi,
I have previously installed a Sonnet firmware with a Dual 1,8GHz 7447. This also worked with a Single 1,2GHz 7455 Sonnet, no reflashing.
Now I got a PowerLogix/Newertech 7448 Single 2GHz and I am asking myself, if I first have to uninstall the Sonnet firmware or if both can "live" on the same ROM-Chip?
I would like to be able, to once swap the CPUs again and so prefer to not uninstall the FW. The PowerLogix Manual is very specific, but it does not say something about whether you have to first uninstall other firmware.
    Thanks!

So, I guess I have to first uninstall the Sonnet FW (there is an uninstaller!). The Apple Firmware should be the normal 4.2.8 then again, right?
I remember some time ago I read on hintsforum.macworld dot com that MDDs were different. If you installed a sonnet FW, you could not use the stock CPU afterwards again, because the ROM was deleted. Explanation was, that there wasn't enough space on the chip.
I will have a look, if I can contact PowerLogix or is there site only for past reference (like archived)?
I'll find out. maybe OWC can help me out, too.
I come back and tell you all. If someone likes to add something, please feel free to do so!

beyond the chipset what is your CPU socket type??? That will be far more precise to determine what processor you can upgrade to also check your Service Manual that will also tell you what processor it can take.

  • What hard drive can I upgrade with on iMac intel early 2010

what hard drive can I upgrade with on iMac intel 27 inches early 2010

You can install any 3'5" SATA hard drive on a Late 2009 iMac. Have a look at OWC > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/internal_storage/hard_drives_and_SSD
Note that Late 2009 and later iMacs have got the temperature sensor inside the hard drive. If you install a hard drive without a sensor, fans won't work correctly. Read > http://blog.macsales.com/2751-proprietary-cable-can-put-the-brakes-on-upgrading- late-09-imacs

  • I have a Mac running OS X 10.4.11 with a 1.83 intel core duo   what is the highest operating system upgrade that I can get?

I have a Mac running OS X 10.4.11 with a 1.83 intel core duo   what is the highest operating system upgrade that I can get?

You can check to see if yours meets the system requirements for Snow Leopard - that would be the highest; Lion will not run on your machine.
Please note that the minimum 1 GB RAM is a minimum - 2 GB would be better.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A
You can buy it at the Apple Store, other online resellers, or ebay (but be careful there to only bid on a new retail shrinkwrapped package to you don't get suckered into a used install disk which won't work on other machines).

  • Since my macbook pro is an intel core duo but not a core 2 duo, I cannot upgrade to Yosemite.  So... what OS X can I upgrade to with this computer?

Since my macbook pro is an intel core duo but not a core 2 duo, I cannot upgrade to Yosemite.  So... what OS X can I upgrade to with this computer? Thanks for the input.

Intel Core Duo is a 32-bit processor, so the latest Mac OS X version you can install is Mac OS X Snow Leopard -> http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
You are running Mac OS X 10.6.8, so you are already running the most recent Mac OS X version for your computer.

What operating system can I upgrade my 2006 MacBook Pro 17" inch to if it has a 2.16Gh Intel dual core and 2G ram?

A Core Solo or Core Duo Mac can go to Mac OS X 10.6.8. A Core 2 Duo or better can go to Mac OS X 10.7.2.

  • My iMac has an Intel Core Duo processor, what can be done to upgrade to Lion?

my IMac has an Intel Core Duo processor.  What can be done it to allow me to upgrade to Lion?

Got 2GB of RAM and 7GB of disk space as well?
Got current BACKUPs in case something goes horribly wrong?
If so, upgrade/update to 10.6.6 or later and The App Store icon appears. For US$29.99, you can download Lion.
If you fear you will need a DVD of it, you must make one after downloading and BEFORE you install, as the image is consumed during the Install, and not available afterward.
