G580 Lenovo Support Center - Device Manager - Unknown device

Hi Team,
Recently I have Updated my Laptop from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 single language pack.
Once Installation is completed, I faced problem in starting Dolby Audio driver, I have installed the latest driver and it got resolved.
Next came the problem in Bluetooth device in accepting files from my mobile, then done the same. Installed latest driver and it too got resolved. But still i am facing the message "Unknown device" in Lenovo Support Center in Device Manager.
I have checked in Device Manager. But no device is indicated in yellow color.
Please let me know, how to identify which device is causing this problem and how to rectify this.
My Laptop details:
Model : G580
Product ID : 20150
Let me know if you want more details.
Thanks,
Sathish Kumar

Hi Yigit,
As I have already mentioned, I didn't find any device which is indicated as Unknown in Device Management.
I have shared the Images for your better understanding. It is only displayed in Lenovo Support Center alone.

  • HP Elitebook Folio 9480m drivers missing / Device Manager PCI Device and Unknown device?

Hello all, I have already installed Windows 8.1 Pro x64 and i have on the device manager still 2 missing drivers they are  PCI Device and Unknown device??
Please see attached a printscreeen. ANy idea which drivers are missing? Thank you all

Hi: You need this driver for the PCI device... http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=7089928&swItemId=ob_134503_1&swEnvOid=4158 I gave you the driver for the unknown device when you had W7 on the machine, so it is probably the same one. http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=7089928&swItemId=ob_132986_1&swEnvOid=4158 If it is not that one (or you had two unknown devices at one time, and already installed the 3D driveguard driver), then it is probably this one... http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=7089928&swItemId=ob_133322_1&swEnvOid=4158

  • 'Unknown device' in Lenovo Solution Center, but not in Device Manager

Even with all the latest updates installed, I still get this annoying warning from Lenovo Solution Center
'Unknown device' - status 'not installed'
Control Panel / Device Manager gives no signals something is wrong.
    why?!
    Details:
    Computer: Thinkpad Yoga (TPY)
    OS: Windows 8.1 all updated
Lenovo Solution Center version: 2.2002 / revision 17630
External device attached to TPY:  OneLink Pro  (also has latest driver = Realtek 8.10.1009.2013)
    Thanks in advance

It seems to me you are missing some update from Lenovo. I had the same issue, however just recently after updating any available software/drivers for the TPY the message has disappeared.
Glad to hear the problem is solvable. Regarding missing updates, I honestly would not know which one.
Lenovo's own update programs ('L-Update and Drivers' & 'L-System Health and Diagnostics') inform me that all drivers are up to date.

  • ThinkPad T410 device manager unknown items

Having done a clean install of 64bit windows 7 Professional, I am left with 3 unknown devices under 'Other devices': 'Base system device', 'PN533' which I think refers to a NFC controller[my Card reader seems to be working fine] and a 'Unknown device', which I suppose could be almost anything. Can anybody out there help me? No reference to PN533 in Lenovo T410 driver page.

    Thanks for considering this issue.
I can't say it was there out of the box, but I do know it was still there after some Windows updates and Lenovo updates. However, the inactive devices finally started working after I found in the Lenovo Metro applications that there were drivers updates available. I installed dependencypackage.exe and settingsdependencyp.exe and I think that is what solved the issue. Finding these updates was not straightforward though, as they were not advised in the Lenovo Solution Center, only in some Metro applications.
I am not sure the devices are working properly though, as I can't pair with my smartphone using NFC (though NFC does appear in the wireless settings), the Map application in Metro is not finding my location acurately which makes me think it only uses my internet connection and not the GPS (though the GPS appears in the wireless settings). As for the WWAN, I don't know why, but the Lenovo Mobile Access Metro application stopped working. I only get the splashscreen then it crashes without any error message. I uninstalled/reinstalled but same behavior. WWAN appears with a "Macheen" network in my connection options when I click on the connection icon in the systray, but it won't work: "connection impossible". Don't know if it is because the device is not working properly, or because the Mobile Access applicasion is not working properly.
The two "unknown" devices are still there, still unknown. I don't know what they actually are.

  • Device manager shows device but installation CD can't find a Creative prod

Well, I suppose that the title of this thread says it all. My device manager recognizes the Creative product I have in one of the PCI slots, but when I insert the CD to install all of the programs I get an error message that reads "can't find a creative labs product on the system". Why would the computer be able to detect the device but not the CD? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device but that doesn't help.
The kicker is, my sound card worked just fine two weeks ago and I've not changed anything in the system.
I did a search on this topic and other people have run into the same problem but there weren't any solutions posted. I'd really appreciate ANY help as this is a VERY frustrating problem.

this is the glitch I think I had when I installed my XFI Platinum. I followed the instructions by loading all the hardware BEFORE loading any software. So now the card and the bay are installed and I boot up. The instructions tell you to cancel installing hardware at this point. The instructions say to put the CD in and install the software. Like I usually do I do a Custom install. Incidentely it only leaves out a few software options like the Volume Panel and some other stuff I didnt feel I would want. So when I put the disk in the first of 4 items as I remember it was the XFI software which is the mode changer and panel software and more. This is where I got the message you got so I skipped to the next item to install.
I loaded the next item which was I think the media player and then I didnt load the next 2 because I didnt want them. AOl on my desktop and something else.
So I figured it may have loaded drivers at this point but not the software because the card officially was in the system yet. So I rebooted.
When it rebooted It detected the Card and a couple of other devices I think at this point.
So obviously I figured that now the software would load since the card was officially recognized. I put the CD in and selected the first option and it then loaded the XFI software.
Yea this is the one thing I found in the installation as a little confusing and not documented.
Maybe this will help you.Message Edited by Crashman on 05-25-2006 2:3 AM

  • Lenovo Support Center Ideapad 590

LSC keeps giving me an alert that my Norton Antivirus is not active.
I click the activate and nothing happenes. My Norton INternet Security Suite is active and working.
    How do I fix this?

    hi frankfallon,
    Welcome to Community.
Your problem might be similar to this thread (although this is a different product, same aspects apply).
It's possible that the Lenovo Solutions Center (LSC) is not detecting your Nortorn Internet Security as an antivirus but as a Firewall (compared to Norton Antivirus). You can try to update to the latest LSC but if this doesn't fix it, you can just ignore the message from LSC about the antivirus not being active as the security software is already active.

  • SL 300 Unknown device in Device manager

    Hello!
I have found in Device manager Unknown Device: ACPI\LEN0014.
    SL 300, Windows 7 64bit.
Does anybody in this forum have any idea how to solve the issue? Or at least idea where should I look for further help...
The problem is that from the information available, I do not have the slightest idea what is the troubling device.
I have tried to install official Power management driver (found as advice to the similar issue)... But device is still there...
    Thanks a lot!

  • ThinkPad Yoga S1 - Windows 10 unknown device

I did a clean installation of Windows 10 on my ThinkPad Yoga S1. After onstalling all drivers I still get followig device missing in device manager:
Unknown Device:Device Type: other devicesManufacturer: unknownPlace: Synaptics SMBus Driver I already installed Synaptics ThinkPad UltraNav Driver 19.0.12.61 from 7/30/2015, so this does not change anything here. What driver is missing and can Lenovo provide it soon?

Also have an S1 with non-functioning palm rejection. The pen worked earlier, but now it no longer functions. It works in that it can calibrate itself in Wacom Pen settings, but otherwise refuses to register. UPDATE: restoring default settings under Wacom Pen settings has reenabled the pen and palm rejection appears to work again. Note: I installed recent Wacom FEEL drivers, which are the drivers that work with this model, among other tablet PCs with Wacom tech.

  • Y530 "unknown device" in device manager, windows7

    Hi
I am running Windows 7 on my y530 (geforce version), and everything basically works fine. The only thing that is really bothering me is that I have an "unknown device" show up in the device manager. I have installed all the drivers that are avaliable on the lenovo support webpage, but i the unknown device is still there. Anybody know how i can fix this issue?
Oh and those soft keys do not work for me, other than the play/pause/ff/rewind keys. I did install the hotkey drivers, but that didnt really help.
Would be great if somebody could help me out here.
    Many thanks in advance

thanks bananaman for welcoming me and also for responding to my query.
well i checked under details and it said something about ACPI. After doing a quick search I figured out that it had something to do with the power management software. I downloaded the software from the download section on lenovo.com and voila, the unknown device was gone
The only thing that still doesnt work are the various sound option (jazz/rock etc...) and the dolby surround touch keys.

  • Unknown device in device manager after win8.1 upgrade W540

I'm using the W540 with an ultradock and external monitors. After upgrading my W540 to win8.1 64 bit, device manager is showing an unknown device. I'm not quite sure what it is, but almost everything seems to be working fine and Lenovo solution center isn't finding any driver updates.
I did notice that the solution center hardware scan did not test the video card memory and listed that test as N/A. Video and monitors seem to be working fine though and both nvidia and intel graphics show up in device manager.
Device manager lists the device in question as follows:
    Device instance path: ROOT\SYSTEM\0001
    Hardware Ids: root\iwdbus
    Device stack: \Driver\PnPManager

    hi nikos78,
Can you check if this is the driver for it.
    http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/gtku09ww.exe
Check if the Hardware ID of this device is a ACPI\VPC2004
on that same windows that you posted click the Details tab and change the value to Hardware ids
Now check the detail that will show below, if that shows ACPI\VPC20004 then that is a Lenovo Energy Management Controller.
