G6 Zoom Knob is stuck!!

I bought this Canon G6 in 2004.
it has been a good camera. A few issues i have is that the rubber habd grip is coming off, the LCD swivel screen is loose, even thoiugh the two screws are still very tight, and FINALLY, just yeaterday i was taking photos of my neice at her soccer agme and noticed when trying to use the tele zoom lens, it's stuck in the middle position, and i have to FORCE it to macro or tele.
I called a local canon repair, and he told me there is nothing i can do to fix it. i then called canon in irvine Ca., and they told me the same thing, it's no longer useful...WHAT?  I paid something like $700.00, with a five year extended warranty, but they told me it can not be fixed.
I googled this topic and found someone saying to get a can of W-D40, spray into a small bowl mand take a eye dropper and carefully put a drop around the knob.  Canon told me the camera is useless.
I also have a cano Program AE-1 with lots of lenses, No one really does film processing around these parts, it's all digital, so I'm hoping if i get a EOS series, that any one of my FD lenses would fit into a T3, or T3i, to save money buying all new lenses.
Has anyone with a G6 experience any of my issues?  Thanks!

Hello photoman17,
We can certainly understand the frustration of having your PowerShot G6 run into some issues.  This camera is what's considered out of service life.  We no longer are able to provide repairs to this model.
We don't honor extended warranties as they are not provided by or supported through Canon.  The camera would have only come with a one year limited warranty from the manufacturer.
We do not recommend using WD-40 in the camera at any point.
Lenses from the AE-1 will not work with the Digital EOS SLR cameras.  EOS DSLR models like the EOS Rebel Series can use both Canon EF or EF-S lens series.
You may wish to participate in our Canon Loyalty Program.  This program allows you to replace your current camera with a refurbished Canon digital camera for a discounted fee, plus $10 shipping for Second Business Day delivery.  The refurbished units through this program carry a 90 day warranty.  The original non-functioning camera would then be returned to Canon with a prepaid label that would be provided.
If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (800) OK CANON (800-652-2666) seven days a week, 8am to Midnight.  Let them know you have been working with email technical support and the Canon Loyalty Program was offered.  Be sure to have your serial number for your camera at the time of your call.

  • Inadvertent System Scroll Stuck - How to revert?

I believe I inadvertently intiated this condition while using my Magic Mouse  A gestural slipup?? .  I zoomed in somewhat and now the zoom setting seems stuck and nothing I have done will revert to the standard display setting with no zoom
Current conditions - Apple 20" wide display, resolution set to 1680 X 1050 (native) running Lion 10.7.3.   The entire screen (menubar, everything) is zoomed maybe 15-20%.  If I move the mouse pointer to any screen edge, the screen will scroll to show the portion of the screen not visible due to the zoom. Of course, the fonts and graphics seem pretty distorted due to the zoom not being a perfect scale of the resolution setting.
With my trackpad (yeah, I have one of those too) I can use the two finger zoom gesture to zoom in and out.  When I reach the minimum zoom (where you extend beyond the "bounce" and it returns you to what should be the standard zoom, my display continues to be in this perpetual 15%-20% zoomed in state.
I have tried multiple restarts, (with and without restoring windows), safe boots, turning off zoom capabilities in the input devices and restarting, trying all kinds of resolution resets.  Nothing has worked thus far
This seems to be a system software issue.  I suppose eventually I may have to reinstall Lion and hope for a resolution, but I was wondering if any OS X wizards out there might have some ideas as to things a could try
    Thanks
    Dave

This is not my day.  I tried using the trackpad 2-finger pinch to zoom while holding down the control key.  I zoomed both in and out but the screen never reverted to a standard no zoom position.  In fact I ended up making the issue worse.  At one point in my trackpad-control key-zoom attempts the screen stuck in a higher zoom level than before.  I would say it is somewhere over 50% zoomed (150% of normal)  and no luck reverting to it's normal state.  Any other ideas appreciated.  It is pretty near impractical for regular use at the current zoom
    Thanks

  • Style JSlider

    Hi!
I'm about to style a JSlider. It's not enough to change a few parameters, I mean really style with images.
What is the best way to do that? I did try to create a subclass of JSlider and in that override the paint method and paint the slider with images. That works, but, not well. For example when I drag, the slider knob gets stuck at some places, which looks really weird. But as soon as I release the mouse button, the slider updates itself and looks well again.
I also considered creating my own look and feel by extending SliderUI.
How would you go about this problem?
    Thanks!

  • The screen on my ipod touch is stuck zoomed in. I turned it off and back and its still stuck zoomed in. I also tried to reset it and that didn't work either. Please help.

The screen on my ipod touch is stuck zoomed in. I don't know how it happened I just looked down and it was like that. I have turned it off and back and even reset it but it still keeps zooming back in each time I turn it on. I can't unlock it because I can't see the numbers and it won't let me move around the screen. Please help.

This is asked and answered often.  The foru search bar is on the right side of this page.
It is also covered in the manual - zoom feature:

    Double tap with three fingers.

  • Lock screen and other app stuck on zoomed mode

I noticed that my lock screen is stuck on zoomed mode. When I'm in my home screen it's in standard view. Also I'm having the same issue with my apps. Apps like Pinterest, Tumblr, Swarm, Twitter looks fine but other apps like Facebook and Instagram are all stuck on zoomed mode. How do i fix this?

    Hello iankyliu,
It may be that the zoom accessibility feature has been enabled. The article linked below details how to go about turning it off.
iOS: Home screen icons are magnified or large

Otherwise, it may be Display Zoom that's enabled, which is explained in the iPhone User Guide.

There are two ways to turn off Zoom:
    1. Connect to iTunes. Go to the iPhone summary pane and click the "Configure Universal Access" button. Then turn Zoom off.
    2. Double-tap the phone's screen with three fingers. Then go to Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Zoom and tap the Zoom On/Off switch.

To back to the normal scale you have to disable the parallax.
Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Reduce Motion (turn off)
You won't be able to put the wallpepr out of frame as ios 6 (earlier), but it stop to putting the annoying zoom.

  • Stuck in MegaZoom-Do NOT want to disable Zoom

I'm having the problem of being stuck in mega-magnification and being unable to get the iPad to respond at all. I've read the posts on this issue, including the official Apple answer. All seem to tell us to disable zoom. I LIKE the zoom feature. I double-tap in & out quite frequently--finding it much easier than the pinch. What I don't like is being stuck in zoom.
So, is there another answer besides totally disabling the zoom feature?

No promises but a system Reset cures many ills and takes but a minute to perform:
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.
A Reset does NOT delete apps, photos, movies, music or any other data. A Reset does NOT delete any settings for email, network access, etc.
Also, you might wish to download the 4.2 User Guide. Pay special attention to page 170.

  • Stuck in zoom

screen stuck in zoom even after reboot.  How can I type in the password to restart when I can't get it to ask for password?

Reset your device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Slide to Unlock screen displays, if it is still in Zoom mode, then try the three finger double tap. Make sure all three fingers are touching the touch screen and tap twice quickly.

  • Pinch zoom is often getting stuck and going to the full extent of zoom since Yosemite upgrade

Are any other users experiencing an issue where pinch zooming is broke since upgrading to yosemite?  When I use the two-finger pinch zoom, the zooming often seems to get stuck and keeps going after I lift my fingers.  Whether zooming in or out, the zoom will often continue to the full extent of zoom capability in whichever direction it started.  Tapping on the trackpad while it is in runaway zoom has no effect and I just have to wait for it to finish, then resize things manually.  Is anyone else having this problem?  I did a fresh reinstall of Logic but that didn't help any.

  • Somehow my mac mini is stuck in hyper zoom hooked to hdtv

I have the 2010 mac mini uni body with cd slot, full size hdmi out..  I have been running it into a 42' Vizio lcd HDTV via Hdmi..  it has been working just fine, screen size was perfectly fit to 1080p matching my set size exactly.. working fine for 2 months then all of a sudden just the other night somehow my entire screen is magnified as if it were sized to a 60" tv. All icons in doc, lettering ect are all way big,,  When I scroll the cursor over to the edge of the tv the screen slides over to the other edge of the computers finder window which extends well beyond the limit of the 42' screen... its stuck on some kind of mega magnified mode. I did nothing manually to make this occur, it just happened as I was surfing on the net. I have gone through every monitor/display setting I can find and cannot seem to unzoom/resize to fit my 42' screen. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and know how to fix this?  the weird thing is my computer like I said was never like this from set up fresh out the box 2 months ago, all was working properly until 2 nights ago it popped into this weird zoom mode. Ive also tried everything on my tvs screen settings and have trouble shot it back to the mac. running snow leopard.    help

YES!! that was it.. somehow I must have hit those key combos on accident to make it zoom out like that.. alt-cmd-8 popped it right back how it was supposed to be.. when I hit that combo again it pops it right back to the zoomed in problem. Thank you very much, I am now trying to learn all the various combo commands so I don't make some other weird mistake. problem solved by mooblie

  • Iphone 6plus stuck in zoom. Cannot put in passcode because screen is too big. cannot reset to factory settings because I need to login passcode.

I have an Iphone 6 plus which is stuck in zoom mode.  The screen is to large for me to put in my passcode so I can try to fix the problem. I was going to reset the IPhone on ITunes but it wouldn't allow me to do that without inputting the passcode into the iPhone. How can I get the IPhone out of zoom mode?

Double-tap the screen with THREE fingers. Then go to Settings/General/Accessibility and turn off Zoom.
