  • TS1473 My hp laptop boots but the monitori screen stays shut down and  inoperable. There was no overheating, physical damage , or system issues. Video graphics card had errors

My hp laptop worked fine, I shut down, attempted normal boot process several days later  and power boots but the monitori screen stays shut down and  inoperable. There was no overheating, physical damage , or system issues. Video graphics card had errors

You would be better off posting this in an HP forum, this forum is for Apple products.

  • CMOS checksum invalid. CMOS 502 Error.

Product name: HP ENVY TS 15 J127TX Touch Notebook PC
    Product number: F7Q47PA#AB4
    BIOS Version: F.56
    OS: Windows 8.1
It happened after a BIOS update which had resulted in the laptop not booting. A successful message was displayed instead. The BIOS version is F.56 and is currently the latest on the support page. Ironically, the description says the update "Fixes an intermittent issue where the system does not restart the operating system properly after the BIOS is upgraded." The capslock LED would flash twice and refuse to start. Suggestions I got from forums were to reset the CMOS.
    What I did:
    1. Remove the flat battery and waited a while before I re-inserted it.
    2. Held down the power key for 30s.
    3. Connected to cord and powered up.
The laptop was fine for 2 weeks till Windows got stuck in a repair loop. I had to refresh Windows to get it to boot. I had also restored from a system image I did with Paragon HDM and no problems for another week.
For no apparent reason, the CMOS error was displayed few days ago. There were also no  changes made to the system.
I've tried many times to reflash again and followed by a hard reset after each of them with no success. I've also replaced the battery even though I didn't think it would be flat so quickly for a 6-month old laptop.
    Questions:
    1. Would a reset to factory default restore a working BIOS?
    2. Would the "Rollback" feature in "Firmware Management" in Diagnostic be sufficient instead?
    3. I did attempt to do a "Rollback" but there was no firmware found. I explored the recovery partition and  the folder labeled as "previous" under the "Bios" directory  was indeed empty. Would the "Rollback" work if a good firmware is copied to the folder? What are the files to use and how do I get them?
A factory reset is the last thing I want to do so please advise if there are other options.
    "If it's ain't broke, don't fix it".
PS. I had  initially sent this using the "Contact HP" page but received a reply informing me that there's no email support for my laptop. Why didn't it stop me before I wasted my time typing the message?

I have searched through most models in the Envy 15 J100 series. All list only BIOS F.56 for download.
Since it is a weekend there are not likely to be any HP employees online here. Maybe Monday.

  • T410s Fan Error on Boot but works sometime...really confused

Hi, I bought the t410s back in 2010 april or march. About 7-8 month later, I started getting Fan Error on boot after the thinkpad screen. If I don't do anything, the computer shuts off automatically, but if I hit escape, it would continue boot and start up (without a working fan).  I know that there are other threads about the fan error but none of them mentioned this. Most of the times after it continue booting after escape on fan error, I would do a cold reboot and the Fan Error would be gone. So Im guessing that the hardware is fine because if they faulty, then it shouldn't work at all. So recently, I did a clean install of windows 7 and updated all drivers and bios. After update, it was working for like 4 days so I thought it was just a software issue but now the problem have returned, same as before. Sometimes it boot with fan error, sometime no error. And after shows fan error, if I escape and reboot, most of the time the error would be gone. Anyone know why this is or what is going on here? Anything would be appreciated, thanks.

    hey dy58,
since it is hard to replicate this issue as sometimes it does happen and sometimes it does not, i do recommend bringing the unit to an authorize service center for them to investigate.
do contact the tech support team for information of the nearest service center

  • 6 Gigs in 10.4.9 but only 2 Gigs in Vista Home Premium ?

    Hello,
    I need a little help
    - Does anyone know wy I do have 6 Gigs in 10.4.9 ( tha is corect ) but Vista Home Premium only sees 2 Gigs ???
    - And Moreover, do you have a poor video quality even when seeing movies or DVD in Windows Media Player or Windows Media Center ( whereas in OS X everthing is perfect ) ?
    My memory is 4 X 1 Go + 2 X 512 Mo
My graphic card is 7300 GT.
    Thank you for your replies.
    Lionel

The 32 bit thing is the problem. There are probably some flags you can use to let it see 3 gigs (you can do that with XP), but basically unless you install the 64 bit version you're never going to get much more than 2 GB of RAM.
OS X does have a large amount of 64-bit support, which is why you can use >> 2 GB of RAM.

  • My dv6120us laptop boots, but the fan (which works in another computer) does not come on...

I have a dv6120us laptop that I am having fan troubles with. I don't have an OS loaded but the CoA is for XP media center edition. The computer boots up and can access the bios if necessary, but the CPU cooling fan never kicks on. I have pulled it out and cleaned it, but that didn't fix the problem.  It doesn't seem to matter how long the computer runs, it does not shut down either. I have pulled the fan out and tried it with a different motherboard and the fan came on like it was supposed to, so I know the fan itself is not faulty. I have also tried a different fan (same, correct part#) with this motherboard, but the second one didn't work either.  I don't know if I'm dealing with a problem getting power to the fan or whether it is an automatic shut down problem, maybe both. I'm guessing that I have issues with the motherboard, and I feel relatively comfortable troubleshooting and attempting repairs on the motherboard, but I am at a loss for where to look for my problem. Is there anyone that can help me troubleshoot the motherboard and try to get this fan working? The motherboard HP part# is 434723-001.

I think I have found my problem...  I know how to fix this, but I do not know how to identify the specs for this part or where I can find a replacement. I would hate to replace the whole motherboard for an inexpensive fix like this.

  • New iMac running lion 10.7.2...partitioned drive for  windows xp pro ...successfully installed...up and running(duel boot) but no internet connection on windows side...need drivers?.....please help

new imac running lion 10.7.2     partitioned HD for duel boot and successfully installed windows xp pro (sp2)....have internet through eithernet cable on the mac side but no internet connection on the windows side....need drivers????   please help

I too am running xp spiii on my mac with lion. However I installed xp while running snow leopard then upgraded to lion and both are running fine. If you have the support disc that came with the imac all the relevant drivers are on there. The only other thing i would suggest is that you get spiii and upgrade to that.
    Hope that helps

  • MY LAPTOP CRASHED BUT MY LIBRARY IS ON MY HOME PC HOW CAN I GET THE LIBRARY BACK TO MY LAPTOP WITHOUT ERASING THE SONGS I REPURCHASED

HOW CAN I MOVE LIBRARY FROM ONE PC TO MY LAPTOP WITHOUT ERASING REPURCHASED SONGS ON MY LAPTOP

I had the similar problem last night and found a solution (although it takes more than a few clicks).  Highlight all the album tracks in itunes on the pc and right click "get info". Check the artwork box in this window.  I found that the now playing art was showing up in the itunes window, but on songs that were missing artwork showed nothing in the get info box.  When I replaced the artwork by using the artwork command, or manually adding it into the "get info" window.  It was annoying but my iphone updated every album.

  • Booting and Installing WIN 7 64 Bit Home Premium PL on HP Probook 4520s

    Hi,
I have very seriouse matter in my HP as above mentiobned.
My DVD lecture is probably broken and unable to boot from disc DVD Install Win 7.
At my flat i have got Ethernet LAN with PC Desktop with DVD Lectrure included.
Is there any option in my HP 'BIOS' to set booting via net from DVD Lecture of my Desktop ?
Am I supposed to install an additional software on my HP ?
    Haw can I do that  /If any / ?

    Hi Bob,
    Thank you for your reply.
Yes I have tried the CS5 Cleanup Tool - multiple times.  Doesn't help.
I am surprised to hear that you installed with no problems in light of Tech Support being adament that it won't work on Windows 7 and is not supported.
I told Tech that I didn't accept that as there are probably hundreds of thousands of users with CS3 who have installed or tried to install on a Win7 machine and not everyone has hundreds of dollars spare to upgrade.
I only really use DW, PS and Acrobat in the Suite so I'm going to have to save to buy those products but it won't be anytime soon.
    Thanks.

  • HP G62-220ca boot problem, wifi whitelist issue : ID du module WLAN (702)

    Hi,
For no apparent reason 6 months after formating my Customer 's laptop his original wifi card is giving him an error code when he boots his laptop. Bios was already updated and all other parts have been tested fine. I just ordered and received another original wifi module and still giving that ''(702)'' error on system boot. Removing that part will allow the laptop to boot correctly, but a laptop w/o a wifi component is pretty much useless for him !
    Laptop brand : HP
    Model: G62-220CA
    Actual BIOS vF.29
    Any idea why/how that happened?
    Thanks
    Hellrik

    Hey its me again,
So I guess no ones knows what to do or simply can't find any suitable solution. I just can't beleive I am the only one with this issue with this model....

    Hi:
Yes that was what I was thinking. I still don't get how driver even worked as a temporary fix.
Decide for yourself after identifying the cause of the problem. If it is just cable issue I think it's worth repairing. Otherwise I've no idea, may be it'll cost you big.
Give it for repair to a good local computer service store.

  • I have downloaded OS X Yosemite using recovery from boot but while installing error occuring showing unable to extract essential.pkg so can't install. problem is i have already formatted my drive and dont have any os right now. please help

i have downloaded OS X Yosemite using recovery from boot but while installing error occuring showing unable to extract essential.pkg so can't install. problem is i have already formatted my drive and dont have any os right now. only the downloaded new os x yosemite in the os x base system. please help

Please try again after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already taken.
    Step 1
    Reset your computer’s PRAM.
    Step 2
If your model has user-replaceable memory, and you've upgraded the memory modules, reinstall the original memory and see whether there's any improvement. Be careful not to touch the gold contacts. Clean them with a mild solvent such as rubbing alcohol. Aftermarket memory must exactly match the technical specifications of the machine.
    Step 3
Back up all data to at least two different storage devices, if you haven't already done so. One backup is not enough to be safe. The backups can be made with Time Machine or with Disk Utility. Preferably both.
Erase and install OS X. This operation will destroy all data on the startup volume, so you had be better be sure of the backups.
    Step 4
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider to have the machine tested.
