G62 6GB (4GB x 1+2GB x 1) RAM instalation issue

Hello Sir
I have HP G62 with 3GB (2GB x 1, 1GB x 1) RAM factory istalled. Now i wanted to upgrade it to 6GB (2GB orignil and 4GB new DDR3 purchased RAM), installed it. But laptop is not starting just on power on fan sound heared and gone and its gone again and again.
what should i do please suggest me
Thanks

Hello Suhaib,
Here are few things you can do.
Interchange the RAM slots could resolve the issue.
else check the RAM by doing this: Insert the 2GB RAM and check if the computer turns ON fine. Then insert the 4GB RAM and check if it turns ON fine. Do this on both slots to check if the slots are working too..
Another way is by running the Memory test from computer's UEFI.
Cheers..
Wish you luck,
Karthik

  • Mac Mini 4gb RAM installed; 2gb showed

Hello everybody; I've bought a Mac mini (1,83 ghz, 500gb HD 4gb ram) and it's only showing me 2gb of ram. (I know that I usually can put only 2gb in it) my question is: how can I get the full 4gb?

    Hi Tom,
while 800MHz RAM should work, there are numerous reports that only one 800MHz module runs successfully, while two of them somehow prevent Macs from starting up.
So my proposal would be to use two 667MHz modules.
    Regards
    Stefan

  • HT3918 Can I leave the installed 4gb (2 X 2gb) of ram in my iMac and add 8 gb (2 X 4gb) of additional ram to the available (empty) slots?

Can I leave the installed 4gb (2 X 2gb) of ram in my iMac and add 8 gb (2 X 4gb) of additional ram to the available (empty) slots? I will ultimately swap the remaining 2 X 2gb out for 2 x 4gb.  If so, does this affect how the ram is used/accessed (i.e. will the original ram be limiting because it is in the installed location rather than in the other previously open slots?)  Thanks.

That's exactly the RAM arrangement I've been running with for the last couple of years with no issues.
2x2gb on one shelf and 2x4gb on the second.

  • MacBook Pro early 2011 System information shows only 2gb Ram installed but it came with 4gb  ??

I have an eary 2011 model of Macbook Pro. It had 4gb of ram installed on it but i recently checked the system information ans found that it only 2gb installed
Please help me resolve this issue .

I'd say either a module fell out or died or was removed.

  • Why does my iMac only recognize 3GB of 4GB RAM installed?

    I have an iMac 20" (Model A1224, iMac 7,1).  Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz running 10.5.8 OSX.
    I removed the stock 1GB and replaced it with 2X2GB DDR2 667mhz PC2-5300 SO-DIMMS (G.Skill).
I booted up.  Both memory slots show OK, but one only shows 1GB instead of 2GB.  Overall, the system only recognizes 3GB.  What gives?  The Apple Support page for this model says that it supports 4GB (some other web sites even say it supports 6GB).
    Thanks.

The likely cause is RAM that does not meet Apple's specifications. The specifications you cite are correct but many vendors sell memory that simply does not meet them. You are their quality control department, which saves them no small sum of money.
There are only two recommended vendors these days, Crucial and OWC. People have reported problems with many other brands, yet Crucial and OWC's prices are as good as any you are likely to find.
Go to Crucial and download the little app that examines your system and recommends RAM upgrade options.
Their prices are good but don't have to buy memory from them - determine what you need and buy it from Crucial or OWC / MacSales. If OWC says you can install 6 GB then you can. Crucial does not often recognize this ability so their app will probably report only a 4 GB option for your iMac.

  • Safari Web Content eating up 2GB of my RAM?

I posted about my iMac crashing some months ago, after having some concerns that Safari was causing my system to hang up and/or crash; but I was told that my ESET AntiVirus was at fault and that I should uninstall it despite it being no problem for over a year that I've had it.
However, I now finally have evidence at hand that Safari IS indeed the problem and would like to know if anyone has been having this issue. I currently have no tabs open other than the page that I am now using to compose this text, however Safari Web Content is somehow still using up 1.21GB of RAM on it's own despite only having one page up. I only have 4GB of RAM installed since purchase, however since this issue is fairly reoccurring I have as of today ordered some more compatible RAM to upgrade to 8GB to see if this helps the problem. However this is not a solution as Safari should not be consuming this much memory on it's own anyway.
With 3 or more tabs open, my RAM had dropped to literally 21MB free, and over 2GB was used by Safari. Why is it doing this, is this normal? How can it be fixed?
    OS X 10.8.4
    Safari 6.0.5
    iMac 21.5 inch late 2009
    3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4.0GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM

Yes, Safari Web Content can use a lot of RAM.  However, I don't think that would be the cause of crashing; lots of memory use rarely causes crashes.  Poorly written software that runs in kernel space (AV software fits this), can cause this.
Safari Web Content is "caching" a lot of stuff.  More than I'd like it to.  If you have 47 tabs open, and close them down to 1, SWC will still often be taking up a lot of RAM.  If you quit and restart Safari it will give the memory back, though in general if the system is under memory pressure I think SWC will also release some more RAM.  In general I never notice this to be an issue.
I think with OS X Mavericks things may improve as well, based on details on the Safari tab, as well as with "Compressed Memory" which would help as your system approaches using all its RAM:

  • 786GTM-E45 4GB Ram Installed 3GB reported by XP

I have a 785GTM-E45 mobo with 4GB of RAM installed. The BIOS reports 4GB but Windows XP sp3 reports only 3GB.  have verified that each memory stick is good and that 2GB can be read in each slot.
Have Win XP sp3, 2x2048 Corsair DDR2 modules, AMD Phenom X4 9850 Quad processor.
Anybody ever see this and discover the culprit?
    Thanks

It can vary from one PC to the next, for instance mine shows 2.98 GB available. Normal average range would be from that to about 3.2 GB or so.

  • 8GB of RAM Installed, only 4GB detected/used by BIOS/Windows 7 (with P67A-GD55)

Let me start off by saying that I'm not very good with computers. At all. I know a little bit about them, but I am by no means an expert. That said, I have 8GB of RAM installed on my motherboard, spread out across 4 sticks. However, upon looking at my BIOS and my Windows Resource Monitor, it declares that I only have 4GB of RAM installed and usable. This is what I know so far:
    - This issue has been prevalent as long as I've had my computer, and by extension my motherboard and my RAM sticks, so this issue isn't recent.
    - I do have a 64bit version of Windows 7. I've checked and double-checked, and I'm 99.5% positive that it is.
    - Speccy, a 3rd party program designed for checking system specs, declares that I do, in fact, have 8GB installed.
    - I don't think that the RAM is bad because the BIOS still does pick up on different statistics of the RAM that are in the slots; it just fails to register the actual fact that they're there.
    System Specs:
    OS: Windows 7 64bit SP1
    CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K  @ 3.30GHz
    RAM: Patriot PSD32G133K 4x2GB DDR3 @ 498MHz
    Motherboard: MSI P67A-GD55 P67 LGA 1155
HDD: 977GB SAMSUNG SAMSUNG HD103SJ ATA Device (SATA)
Optical Drive: LG DVDRAM GH24NS50 ATA Device
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6870 1GB VRAM
    PSU: Cooler Master 750 Watt
    BIOS Version: E7681IMS V1.5
Now this is where it gets interesting: My motherboard has 4 DIMM slots for the RAM, and the motherboard (I assume by default) works in dual-channel mode. This means that DIMM 1 and 3 work together and so do DIMM 2 and 4, which most of you probably understand. However, filling up all 4 slots only gives me half the RAM. So I remove the RAM from slots 2 and 4, and it results in all 4GB of RAM being detected. Then, I add in each other RAM stick one at a time, and it fails to register both. So I remove the RAM from slots 1 and 3, and keep the RAM from slots 2 and 4, and it ends up in all 4GB being registered.
I feel like the answer should be directly in front of me, but from endless Google searches and posts on other forums, I have ended up at a dead end. I'm completely clueless, so I could really use some help.
Any and all help would be appreciated.
Also, if this is the wrong forum for this, feel free to move it wherever.

What is your current UEFI/BIOS Version?
The usual cause of such problems is (apart from bad memory slots or a defect of the processor's memory controller) a contact problem between the boards CPU Socket contact pins and the CPU's contact pads.  Broke or bent pins are one explanation, in other instances a heatsink that is fastened to tight can also cause such issues.
I'll have the BIOS version up in a moment, but I'll see about diagnosing if one of those problems might just be what is my problem. Any tips on doing that?
Also, BIOS version is up in the OP now.

Chances are you either did not install or correctly or added the incorrect RAM.

I have a MacBook running OS 10.9 with 4GB of memory free.  Can I install Yosemite?

Other things being equal, 4GB is enough to check your email and run Yosemite. If your Mac runs well with Mavericks it should run well with Yosemite.
You probably won't be happy with the performance of your Mac with Yosemite if you are planning on doing other things that are more demanding on your hardware, like Photoshop or editing video, or using virtualization software. Unless you like seeing the spinning beachball.
Other factors are important too, like your HD (SSD vs. conventional drive), how full your HD is, how fast your processor is, and if you have some types of "crapware" on your Mac, for example, CleanMyMac or MacKeeper, or other similar dubious "utilities".  Or antivirus software. But that is a whole discussion in itself.
You can easily test drive Yosemite in one of two ways:
    1. Make a backup of your current installation, like with Time Machine. Then if you don't like Yosemite you can restore from your backup.
    2. Make a test partition on your hard drive and install Yosemite there.

  • Dropped from 6GB of data to 2GB data overnight?

Hello, yesterday on 11/09/13 I went to the verizon store to upgrade a razr maxx that had been subjected to water. I ended up choosing the LG G2. I previously had the unlimited plan and was told by a store representative that I would receive 6GB of data allowance per month for the same price we had been paying for unlimited. The same day we got the phone the My Verizon app stated that I had used approximately 4GB out of the 6GB I was allowed for that billing cycle. The next morning, today, it said I was 2GB over the 2GB limit in the same application and will be billed accordingly. If any light could be shed on this issue I would appreciate it infinitely, thanks in advance!

It's reflecting your prorated amount depending on when you upgraded your phone and when your billing cycle renews. So for an example on a 6GB plan, your prorated amount is likely 3GB for a mid billing cycle change.  It combines the data from before you switched plans with whatever data you used after you switched so sometimes it looks like you're over.  Supposedly your new bill is suppose to separate the usage under your old plan and usage under your new plan.  As a precaution I called Verizon customer service to make sure I wouldn't be charged for any overages since most of my usage was while I was on an unlimited plan before I switched to the new plan.  I was told I would be charged.  I hope this helps.

  • Only 2gb RAM installed when there should be 4gb.

    Hello,
I have a Toshiba Satellite L750 running on Windows 7. It should have 4gb installed (the amount when it was ordered). I noticed it was running slower than usual and that only 2gb was installed. I opened the bottom panel of the laptop and located the two 2048mb chips (Memory 4GB DDR3 1333MHz SDRAM) in upper and lower slots. I then started up the computer with only one chip each time (using the bottom slot) to make sure both were working. The computer started up both times. I then inserted both 2gb chips swapping their respective locations when I first found them. Booted the computer back up and it still only showed 2gb installed.  Finally, I opened it up in BIOS it mentioned the same thing. Is there a way that I can reinstall that second 2gb chip to double my amount of ram?
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thank you,

You indicate you tried both chips in the lower slot and they both worked.  Did you try both chips in the upper slot?  You may have a bad slot.  Make sure the chips are fully seated in the slot and the locking clips are in locked position.  Good luck.

  • Why won't my macbook pro accept both 4gb Ram, It will only use a 4gb and a 2gb?

I have a mid 2009 2.6 Ghz 15" macbook pro, and recently purchased two samsund ddr3 4gb 1600hz 204 pin RAM. I removed my two 2gb standard Ram from my macbook pro, and inserted the two 4gb Ram. When I turned the computer one it began using its 3 beep sequence as if the Ram fail, so I removed one 4gb Ram and reinserted a 2gb Ram and the computer started. It said I had total 6 gb ram.  I am wonderind why It won't accept both of the 4gb Ram.

Exactly what Kappy and Stedman1 states.
The RAM you purchased is way out of specs for what you need.
Go and return or exchange them for either a set of Crucial, Corsair, Mushkin or Kingston (non value) RAM.

  • 4GB+4GB or 8GB+2GB Ram?

    Hi,
I'd like to add more RAM to my mid-2012 Macbook Pro (without Retina) and I'm just thinking about these two options.
    a) leaving one of my current 2GBs and adding 8GB (it will give me a chance to upgrade it to 16 in the future if needed)
    b) changing both 2GBs to 2x 4GB
which solution is better? why? I heard that it's better to have 2 slots with rams from the same producer but I just want to make sure with it. Thank you!

You do not need two of the exact same ram. 2GB and 8GB would be perfectly fine.
2 x 4 GB would be a good choice too but you would only have 8GB RAM. 10GB Ram sounds a lot better.
Or you could spend a lot more and go with 2 x 8 GB totaling you 16GB ram but that would be too expensive and you might not get a big use out of it.
Bottom line, go with 10GB RAM and look at activity monitor to see how much memory you're using, then upgrade to 16GB if your computer requires it.

  • 4gb ram installed, only 2gb showing up?

I'm planning on upgrading soon as my macbook pro (13 inch mid 2010) has been running incredibly slow as of late, but just wondering why my ram is showing up as only 2gb when I have 4gb installed? It's probably just me being stupid, but I was hoping someone on here could clear this up for me.
I recently did a scan on crucial's website and it says I have 4gb, but now on the activity monitor it's showing 2gb, as well as on the 'about this mac' section, is it possible that one of the slots has come loose?

I doubt that the Crucial web site can accurately determine how much RAM you have. The, "About This Mac" System Report will be the best indicator of your RAM amount.
If you didn't buy the Mac with an optional 4 Gigs of RAM, it most likely shipped with 2 Gigs by default.
