G62X-400 (ld642av) won't charge, power button ribbon cable might be damaged.

Friend's daughter's laptop had an issue with the cable going to the LCD. When opening it I noticed some screws missing from the machine near the back and middle. I took everything apart and realized the display cable had been stressed I assume due to the flex from the missing screws and when pressure was applied to it, the screen would come on. I replaced the cable and all is well, or so I thought.
Problem is the ribbon cable from the power button seemed to be a little funky as well. Wouldn't really go back well into the zif connecter or back flip connector and the little bar on the connector ended up coming off. I thought I got it back on, it powered up but I didn't realize it was apparently no longer taking a charge. Bottom line is the laptop ran until the battery depleted. If the ribbon cable from the power button was damaged, would that prevent powering the laptop and/or charging the battery or is something else wrong?

The answer is yes - when I force the cable in using pressure, it charges the battery and will accept power from the charger. I'll have to get a new power ribbon cable as it appears to have lost some of the metal contacts on the bottom.

Ok, so my sister has an iphone 4 and she droped it in water and she put it in rice, so after a day she took it out and it worked but the power button did not ( It would click and all) So, i took the phone apart and removed the power button flex cable and i just want to double check that if i replaced that the power button flex cable that it would fix it? Why won't my Power Button allow the iMac to sleep anymore?

When trying to make the imac sleep, the power button no longer works to allow me to do that? Can i ask if anyone had the same issue and has fixed it? I did the SMC thing but It still wont go to sleep.

If none of that helps, it could be your power button needs fixing. Mind you, I don't like using the power button, since it can just as easily accidently act like you are powering down without saving anything, create a scenario where your directory may get damaged.

Can't secure Power on Ribbon Cable,nothing is broken,but can't slide the black piece into place-help

This is driving me crazy. Not just the power on ribbon, but also the touchpad as well. That LITTLE plastic black piece is not going in no matter WHAT I do....and I couldn't find any one else having this problem online anywhere. What am I missing? It fits just fine when the ribbon is not inserted, but once I do I can't fit it. I tried taping the ribbon down or just putting other items on top hoping it will securely touch the connectors, but nothing is working. Also using tweezers and screw drivers to try pressing it in to fit. Help please..computer works just fine as long as I'm holding the ribbon down with my finger, lol.

I have attatched the two photos that I took today. A co-worker had a Thunderbolt, however, the screen was cracked. They are good pictures otherwise. I included a standard post it note pad next to the phone. I folded it in half and marked that as well. Hopefully that serves as a good frame of reference for measurement. Funny enough, I did not have any type of ruler available. I hope that helps you!

I took my Ipad on vacation with only my usb cable, expecting to charge off another computer. No charge! Since then I have tried several other cables, no luck. Is my Ipad problematic?

There is really not a market for them. The best way is to find a parts motherboard on ebay.

HP G6 Laptop Power Ribbon Cable has become loose!!

So I noticed a overheating problem with my laptop and followed one of the many videos on youtube on deciding to clean the fan. Once I finished, i put everything back together but noticed the electronic part attached to the purple "Power button" ribbon cable is coming off the motherboard, it's not sticking on it. I kept trying to force it on, but it would always come off. Now when I try to turn the computer on (with the top of the laptop still widely open), I try to put force on the motherboard end of the ribbon cable and I occasionally get some light coming from the laptop power area, but it quickly goes away. And no this is not a battery/power adapter issue because the lights telling me "battery is charging" come on when I plug in the adapter, I don't know how to fix this power cable and it's end part, any help would be much appreciated. Btw my laptop is this model: Hp G6

Must be something is not quite right. I used 300W 12V-240V converter to charge my Dell XPS M1730 (with 230W power brick) w/o any problem. To test the PSU: does it run OK on main ?
