G700 shutting down after25 mins after cpu change

hi i got a G700 model no 20251 mobo no 31900003win8.std.mlt, bios version 7acn21ww(insyde h20 rev,3.7 it has a 2020m 2.4 ghz cpu i have changed to a i5 3230m which is on its list of compatable ones it runs fine very quick runs a lot cooler than original cpu problem is  laptop now turns of after 25 mins it will restart straight away nothing from windows to say it has shut down incorrectly or anything else i have updated all intel drivers ran a strees test recomended on this site and ran intels own tester prog any one any ideas i am on latest bios

Thank You, i just looked the HM76 boards-(FRU: 90003042 ) on ebay and for 150$ its not worth it to me to replace the board. The whole thing was only 230ish new(refurbished) from the outlet. So my resolution was to replace the entire computer as this is not mine. We just bought another refurbed model for 350$ ish, this one has the i5/HM76 already. If this was mine i would have replaced it with the 710, right now they are 3 on the outlet and dont have this disaster of mistake chipset.  This chipset should of been recalled, its only 10$ cheaper to mfg than its bigger brother th HM75-76
So next week when the new one gets here i will have a spare to play with and see if there is a BIOs modification  solution to this issue although it does seem hardware based to me

Does it power on if you plug in the charger?
But to be honest I see in your description it says 'Late 2011' so there is a good chance you have warranty right, I would take it to Apple store and let them sort it out

Try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder. Then launch iPhoto.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

You mean lock and home key right? I have the same problem with my 4th gen iPod touch. Seems as though if I hold the buttons again a 2nd time, the iPod automatically restarts as it loads the apple screen that appears when you turn on the iPod/iPhone but I can't get the iPod to stay turned off.

There's a whole lot to read in your post, and frankly I have not read it all.
Having said that, this troubleshooting guide should help:

In particular, pay attention to the mobile device support sections near the bottom, assuming you have already done the items above it.

  • Mac Mini shuts down during startup after update

I've got a Late 2009 Mac Mini running Snow Leopard Server. Occasionally, it takes me awhile to restart after updates, so this could be due to the most recent update or possibly the combination of the last two...
I went into my office, saw that there was a Safari update and decided to let it do its thing. When I came back 30 minutes later, my machine was off. I turned my machine back on, got the gray Apple screen with the spinning cog and the progress indicator for the update. A little over 10% through, the progress indicator reset. No biggie, I figured. Second time it got to the same point, it just shut down. Nada. When I restart, it does the same thing.
    I've tried resetting PRAM.
    I've tried resetting SMC.
I've tried booting in safe mode, but that isn't working at all – just does the same thing as when I (fail to) boot normally.
Everything but one of my screens and my keyboard is disconnected. ****, I even tried booting without either one connected (I just waited to see if it would turn off), and it failed.
Can't think of or find anything else.
    Anyone?

Humm.. you'll need to startup from your System Install Disc to test, repair or restore from Time Machine.
Some options for Starting up from your Install Disc include:
    1. in an External Optical DVD Drive.
    2. from another iMac in Target Disk Mode.
    3. from a copy on a Thumb Drive or External HD.
It's to bad that you are using Time Machine on the second HD instead of a clone with Carbon Copy Cloner - Home or SuperDuper! that you could boot from for testing, repairing and/or restoring.
If none of the above helps?
There is one good thing about a Mac Mini, it is much easier to tote into the local Apple Store or AASP than an iMac. see > Apple - Support - iMac - Service FAQ

A shut-down, or BSOD, is a very serious issue. If you have not seen it, take a look at this article for some possibilities: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3465303#3465303

  • Having trouble shutting down mac mini.

As of a few days ago, my mac mini is not shutting down properly. it spools endlessly, until I hold the button down, or un-plug. This problem has coincided with the addition of a Seagate Free agent GoFlex external hard drive. The external hard drive backed up files, then was unplugged. Don't know if the problem is coincidental or not.

Be a good idea now to make a backup. Or do this:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    Do the following:
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/.
If you are using an earlier version of OS X then do this instead:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

  • Can't Log Out, Shut Down, or Restart after 10.5.2 update

Since updating I've been unable to log out any user, though I can switch between users via fast user switching. Selecting Restart, Shut Down, or Log Out [User] makes any active windows become inactive, but does nothing else. (The same happens selecting restart from the system prefs or an updater/installer.) After the 10.5.2 update I had a major kernel panic that locked-up the whole machine and had to hard shut down. I've had several mini-panics since then, but the machine operates normally otherwise. I did a thorough Apple Hardware test and everything passed. None of the utilities I ran could find any issues. I am able to Restart and Shut Down via the Login Window (under the fast user switching menu). I have to enter an Admin account override, so I'm not sure if this is causing any system damage. I'm very frustrated with my very new computer. Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated.

This is then not a permissions issue with your existing accounts since it is system wide.
Your hope is that if you run Disk Utility Repair Disk Permissions would fix and Apple Installer installed files (the main system) permissions. Also do a Verify Disk to check for any underlying directory corruption. The safe boot means the issue is not extensions or fonts. There could still be a plugin somewhere screwing things up but it is unlikely.
If repairing the system file permissions and downloading and re-applying the 10.5.2 combo update does not resolve the issue you have corrupt files in the system and need to reinstall the system.
There is one more potential source and that is what are known as page faults. These originate with cache files which can't be loaded back as expected. This is a conflict issue and could be the source of the problem.
You can manually dump the root and system cache but a better alternative is probably to download a program like Yasu. It is configurable, has a simple interface and will repair permissions and clean the cache.

  • ITunes won't shut down - but only after syncing

I ran into an odd problem and found a workaround, so I thought I would post it here in case anyone else runs into this. In searching, I couldn't find anything like it:
The details: Running iTunes 7.5 on a freshly installed copy of XP. Have two iPods -- a Touch, and an iPod video.
The problem: If I open and close iTunes without connecting an iPod, everything is fine. However, if I connect either iPod and allow it to sync, iTunes will continue to run even after it's shut down. It starts hogging as much CPU time as it can get, which slows the system to a crawl -- and causes an error message when I try to restart the machine.
The solution: I found I could eliminate this problem if after syncing, I went into the Windows Task Manager and killed the "SyncServer.exe" process. So just for yuks, I found this file and moved it from its current location so that it would never load. I thought iTunes would balk at this, but it didn't -- both iPods still sync, and the above problem no longer occurs.
Surely there's got to be some penalty for killing this file, but I haven't run into any problems ... yet. Has anyone else been bit by this issue?

  • I am trying to shut down my computer after disconnecting my modem because I haven't been able to get an email out.  But when I shut it off a screen comes up saying the server doesn't recognize the 500 names.  I can't get to the bottom of the screan

My computer will not shut down after trying to send an email.  A screan came up saying the server doesnt recognize the emails.  And I can't scroll down to the bottom of the page to see if there is something to cancel or click on.  How do I get to the bottom of the page?

You may have to just force quit the app in question.  Why on earth would you try and email 500 people all at once?  Email servers specifically won't accept emails with that many recipients depending on email service you have.
Anyway, to force quit the app, just right-click on the app icon and choose force quit off the menu.
