  • Equium starts typing the letter 'o' by itself

    Hello,
I have noticed of late that my computer starts typing the letter 'o' by itself. Sometimes it gets really bad and I can't type anything properly.
Do you think this is a virus or is it something wrong with my keyboard??
Should i use the recovery disk and start again??
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi
I think its more a keyboard hardware issue as a Virus
In most cases similar issue happens due to the keyboard controller or the keyboard malfunction
But one question; did you install drivers for your USB mouse? Such drivers could affect the standard keyboard drivers.
But to be honest I think its a hardware issue.
So what to do. In my opinion the real solution would be the hardware replacement.
Therefore the ASP should check the hardware components and if need should replace it.
    Good luck

  • My Apple Wireless Keyboard keeps typing the letter x.

The wireless keyboard keeps on typing the letter x, so I tried to switch keyboards, which fixed it. The wireless keyboard has no exterior damage, but pressing the x key does absolutely nothing. I'm wondering how I can fix this problem.

presssing the x key one and off may fix it but at the end of the day the keyboard'x swich may just be broken and may never come around

If your Macbook is less than a year old, it is under warranty. A repair of of a problem of this kind would be free. So, if you have a warranty, have the problem fixed by Apple.
If your Macbook is more than one year old, please tell us what operating system you are running, and any other information that would help understand what is going on.

  • I'm not sure what to do here. My macbook keeps typing the letter ƒ instead of the letter f. Capitol f is written as Ï. I'm not sure what to do.

    pls help

If you had a liquid spill there could possibly be more damage that is causing the keyboard to malfunction.
Check it with a USB keyboard if you have one available, sometimes not all functions will work with wireless.
If it functions ok you may want to get a USB as well as a wireless. I would try to borrow one if you do not have one to check things out before spending $$, to confirm that it is just the keyboard
You can have it diagnosed at a genius bar for free, make an appointment first so you don't have to wait

  • How do I stop Safari from automatically loading a URL when I start typing the first few letters in the URL/search bar?

My question concerns a bug (or feature, I'm not sure which) that I've been seeing for some time on my Safari installations.
I'm running Lion (the latest patched version) with Safari (ditto). I've noticed that every so often, if I open a new tab and start typing something in the search/URL bar, Safari will not only suggest something based on my history, but will actually begin loading the page as though I had accepted that suggestion.
For example, today, I typed the letter "b" in the search/URL bar, paused for a few seconds while I was thinking of what to type next, and Safari went ahead and loaded "bugzilla.gnome.org" based on that being the last URL starting with "b" that I happened to have gone to. And the same thing has happened to me on earlier occasions with different web sites. In other words, it's not merely giving me a suggestion, it then proceeds as though I had accepted that suggestion. Sometimes it might happen to be right, but it's the principle of the thing.
Needless to say, I hadn't inadvertently bumped the Enter key.
Of course, ordinarily, Safari will just offer a list of suggestions based on my bookmarks and browsing history, maybe filling out the URL bar with the topmost suggestion (while giving me the option of overtyping it if I wish). And, of course, this happens without fail if I've just had Safari preempt me by loading a page and am trying to find out why. Like the best Heisenbugs, this "feature" goes away as soon as I make a concerted attempt to study it.
I have completely disabled AutoFill in the Preferences dialog. I would clear the cache and history, except that I kind of resent having to do that every time (or turn on private browsing, possibly another option) just to stop the computer from executing an instruction that I haven't even finished giving it yet (and in many cases intend to change).
Has anyone else seen or been able to disable this feature?

  • Randomly inserts the letter E without me pressing it

As of today, my 1st gen black MacBook has randomly started typing the letter E without me pressing the keyboard. Sometimes it inserts lots of Es when I press the E key once, sometimes it does it when I press other keys and other times it just starts inserting E when I haven't even touched the keyboard in a while (I had to delete at least 20 extra Es in order to type this).
I have a lot of work to do (which unfortunately involves a lot of typing) so taking it to an Apple Store is out of the question right now.
    I have tried the following:
    * Restarting the machine
    * Switching it off, turning it upside down and (gently) shaking it to see if any dust or crumbs came out
    * Checking if the key was stuck down - it wasn't
    * Checking if the key moved freely - it did
    * Blowing underneath the key
    * Switching the repeat rate to Long - this reduced it for a while but it is worse than ever now
This is my second keyboard after my delete key suddenly stopped working one day, so given that history, I would imagine it is most likely a hardware problem that I will have to put up with for the time being until I have an opportunity to get it fixed. Is there anything else I can attempt before then?
P.S. I really don't want to take the key off because I don't want to break it (which is what happened with my old PowerBook). I am confident that there is nothing stuck underneath it though.

My computer is doing the same thing but with 9's! it did it a few weeks ago but then stopped ..I had restarted, zapped the pram, and cleaned out the keyboard by shaking it and blowing it with air and vacuuming it.. its also making sounds.. sometimes it will just make the alert sound one time.. sometimes it will make it like its stuck! it did it a few weeks ago, then stopped and now did it again today! so it may come back on yours also... I wish someone could tell me what is wrong..
I did post a question asking about this today...

  • Help! My Bluetooth keyboard doesn't match! What I mean is that when I type the letter "h" on the keyboard it shows up as if I typed a different letter.  None of the letters match!  What is going on?

Help!  My Bluetooth keyboard is not writing what I type!  What I mean is that when I type the letter "h" for example, it shows up as a different letter. None of the keys match! What is going on?

The missing Albums may be ones where the Artist is not listed as also being the Album Artist in the tag.  Try going to Settings>Music and turn Group By Album Artist to Off.  See if the missing albums now show in the Artist view.  If so, you can either leave the setting this way, or if you prefer it to be on, go to iTunes on your computer and put the correct name in the Album Artist field of the tag (on the Info tab of the tab) for the albums in question and sync your phone.

  • When I use find, Firefox does not let me complete typing the word. Keystrokes effect the page as opposed to the find box (ex. backspace goes back a page instead of a character in the box). How do I fix this?

When I type in the Find box, Firefox interrupts me before I complete typing the word (usually in the first 4 letters. "Focus" moves from the Find entry box to the page itself. If I type backspace Firefox goes back one page of browsing, not one character in the box. I disabled Searchmenu, but that did not help.

I hadn't restarted after disabling SearchMenu. Having restarted, it would appear that the problem was, in fact, SearchMenu. Which was my suspicion. Once Find highlights a "word" SearchMenu interrupts to offer its services. I guess I'll post on their board, to see if there's a solution.
I should have restarted before posting. My apologies. Rookie move.
    Thanks again, Chris.

This has now happened twice. I have been writing a letter on facebook, and the cursor has taken off on me, continuously typing a letter (my case: aaaaaaaa.... On & on). The keyboard became unresponsive, the mouse pad unresponsive, and I was only able to stop it by hitting the power button, of which I don't know how to cancel the shutdown without use of the mouse & ended up holding power button to shut it off.
    Anybody experience this?

  • I would like to propose sites when i type a letter in the addressbar WITHOUT highlighting it, help me ?

    Hello :)
I am very happy when the Firefox browser suggests me sites I have already visited, when I just type one letter in the address bar, but I don't like that this letter gets highlighted in all the suggested urls,
I'd like Firefox always to offer me these suggestions, but if possible without highlighting the letter I type, and I don't know if I can (or how to if I can) change the settings of my browser to be so,
Can you please help me with that?
    Thanks in advance :)

    * Create the chrome folder (lowercase) in the <xxxxxxxx>.default profile folder if this folder doesn't exist
    * Use a plain text editor like Notepad to create a (new) userChrome.css file in this folder (the names are case sensitive)
    * Paste the code in the userChrome.css file in the editor window and make sure that the userChrome.css file starts with the default @namespace line
    * Make sure that you select "All files" and not "Text files" when you save the file via "Save file as" in the text editor as userChrome.css. Otherwise Windows may add a hidden .txt file extension and you end up with a not working userChrome.css.txt file
