G780 - Random Freezing and Full Screen covered in yellow lines

Hey, I'm having freezing problems and issues with the screen becoming covered in yellow lines. Everything stays visible and some times it does this without freezing. Which leaves me to believe a failing graphics chip. Movement of the screen or laptop doesn't seem to effect it, neither does how long I'm on the laptop. It just seems to be random. I'm not getting driver crashes or any errors just lockups and the random colors. Using drivers right from the support site, and yes I've tried reinstalling.
HDD and Ram both test fine.
Thanks!

G780 has 2 variants
With integrated Intel or with dedicated NVidia. Nvidia card is on the PCIe slot. So it depends on the graphics type on your system. Turn around time depends on region, part availability etc. So the local support team will be able to provide clear information on that.

  • Random freezes and blue screen

One day, my PBTi500 started to not recognize me: the username and the password would not log me on, and changing the password by the startup CD did not help.
So, I archived and re-installed OS 10.3. Now it recognized me.
But then, as I was doing graphics on Illustrator CS and or dealing with large files, it would occasionally start to stuck to the workign mode(the twirling rainbow cursor) as a noise from the hard drive- not a clicking, repeated itself. This happened after a logn time of internet surfing as well.
So I went to the Mac Genius today, but nothign wrong was found on the hard drive or anything- couldnt point out the problem.
Anyways, i downladed the update to my os10.3->10.9 with the system update, and installed it.
Now, on restart, it gives me the blue screen- and no matter how long I wait, the screen stays blue.
I tried closing the lid to see if it sleeps: the glowing apple mark stops glowing, but the hard drive and the screen keeps on and the blinking light that indicates sleep is keep off.
Somebody help me out. My pb has NEVER given me problems other than the corroding metal until this happened so suddenly- and I do not have the money or a need to buy a new laptop

I am not sure this will help but it can't hurt..
Shut your computer clear OFF, Even if the only way is to push the Power button down.. Now wait at least some time, 5 min. After that restart your computer and Read this link, Download the free utilitys and use them..
Then come back and tell us how you did.

  • Random Freezing and Blue Screen

    I have a 15'' Macbook Pro with a quad core i7 processor.
For months and months now my computer keeps on freezing, randomly (not related to having any particular program open) to a blank blue screen that does not go away.  The only way for me to un-freeze it is close the computer and re-start it or sometimes I have to hold down the power button and shut off the computer.  I've taken it to the apple store probably 5 times for this issue and because they are unable to replicate the issue in the store, they don't know what the issue is.  I had apple hardware test done, a 24-hour diagnostic, and my operating system completely re-installed done but my computer keeps on freezing blue.  Does anyone know why this is?

The next time you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Scroll back in the log to the time you noted above. Select any messages timestamped from then until the end of the episode. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • IPhone 5 screen is flickering randomly, the phone freezes and the screen turns black.

I bought an iPhone 5 in New York last December. Now I live in Bogotá, Colombia and I can't find an authorized service center because they said that only if I bought it from a local carrier they attend the warranty.
My iPhone 5 screen is flickering randomly, the phone freezes and the screen turns black… The only way to make it work is to reboot with Home and Lock buttons pressed at the same time. But in the process most of the times it flickers again, and again, and again. I couldn't find a reason to identify what could be causing the issue. Also sometimes when it freezes, some group applications get ungrouped, causing a big mess.
I already tried to restore the phone, remove the SIM, delete all applications with no luck.
    Any sugestion? Thanks!

    Was this phone ever jalbroken?
If restoring as new, without using a backup, didn't help, there is certainly a hardware problem that only replacement can fix.  Your warranty is void unless you return to the USA.  Short of that, finding a local independent iPhone repair center would be your only option

Slow performance after installing Yosemite on an older Mac is often caused by inadequate memory. Although you can install the upgrade on a Mac with 2 GB of memory, experience has shown that at least 4 GB is needed for full performance.
Select About This Mac from the Apple menu. If you have less than 4 GB of memory, and your model has upgradable memory, install as much as it can take, or at least that much. Any reputable RAM vendor will have a web form in which you can select the Mac model and be directed to compatible parts.
Memory in the MacBook Air is not upgradable. If that's what you have, you should restore the previous system from a backup, or replace the machine. Ask if you need guidance.
The Etrecheck report clearly shows that SylvieRose has a Macbook Pro, not a Macbook Air and that there are only 2 GB  RAM installed.  The Etrecheck report can be very informative if one takes the time to examine it.

  • MISSION CONTROL, LAUNCHPAD, and FULL SCREEN APPS (one month later)

I'm pretty good embracing a new thing when it comes along.  I downloaded LION the day it come out, which was over a month ago at this point. On that day, I immediately found MISSION CONTROL and LAUNCHPAD both uninituitve and pointless.  Unhandy iCandy.   And of FULL SCREEN APPS?  Not necessary on an iMac anyway.
So I quickly sought out quick solutions to 'fix' these new features.  Launchpad and full screen apps have the advantage that they can be simply ignored.  This is a good thing.  Mission Control, on the other hand, got in the way of a beloved feature for me:  what was once SPACES and EXPOSE.  That is, I couldn't simply ignore MC because I still needed the previous helpful features in Snow Leopard.
My solution was kind of surprising and eye-opening.  It's complicated to explain but I thought I'd share.  This conclusion is likely best suited for someone not using a small screened Mac.  It turns out that most users (with big enough screens) don't really need Mission Control, Launchpad, Spaces, or Full Screen apps.
    At all.
Let's go through that conclusion, one by one:
    FULL SCREEN APPS
If you have a relatively big screen (20 iMac for instance), why do you need Safari full screen?  Unless you intend to sit across the room from the computer, no reason.  And there's lots of bright empty space when you do this.  Do you need the Mail app full screen?  If you need reading glasses, maybe, but otherwise, nope.  I find it's easier just to stretch out an app pretty big and leave it at that.
Full screen apps DO offer a nice feature which is making your desktop, menubar, and dock go BYE BYE.  I can see where sometimes this is a useful feature, but typically -- NOPE.  Typically I want access to my dock (to switch between open apps without the added step of cancelling full screen first), and typically I want access to my menubar so that I can glance up and see what time it is or find an app menu quickly.
The only feature I find worthy of praise with full screen apps is that they hide the clutter on your desktop.  But there's an app in the Mac App Store which makes your desktop icons vanish with the touch of a button (CAMOUFLAGE).  I mean, what's the point of a wallpaper if you bury it with desktop clutter or eliminate it with full screen apps?  If it's a busy and distracting wallpaper, umm... you picked bad wallpaper.
    LAUNCH PAD
LAUNCH PAD offers an iOS experience inside OS X.  At first I thought it was completely silly.  After a month now, I kinda get why it's there.  Kinda.
You see, before LP, to duplicate it's functionality, you'd have to organize folders yourself.  Put folders of various apps together.  Place them somewhere in the finder heirarchy.  Then drag those folders into the part of the dock with the trashcan.  Then you could click them open and have access to similarly themed folders of apps.  The problem here, of course, is that unless you're a power user, you'll never do this.
So Apple thought, AH-HA, we'll just drag into OS X a paradigm that users already get from iOS.  Clumping apps together any way you like them.  The misfire, if you ask me, is not allowing users to drag the new iOS folders straight into the dock when finished.  That is to say:  copies of said organized folders.  It's as if Apple's software people have complete contempt for the dock -- and are desperate to have users abandon it.
My problem is that I like having folders in my dock of stuff I need.  It just works, as Steve says.  Going to the same EXACT place every time I need anything is more intuitive and graceful than ADDING an app called Launchpad that launches you into a different finder altogether.  Makes zero sense and THIS is why I say, like FULL SCREEN APPS, LP can basically be abandoned.
By the way:  need proof that Apple has complete contempt for the Dock?
    MISSION CONTROL/SPACES
A month has passed since MC was introduced and SPACES was eliminated.  I dare anyone to tell me why either is needed at all.  Before you get iMiffed, humor me for a moment and hear me out.
The notion of SPACES was that it's a neat way to keep like minded open apps together.  I totally bought into this, back in the day.  So much so that I was iMiffed when it was gone in Lion.  But let's look at this closer.
The REASON why we needed SPACES was that we could have WAY too many windows open at once on a Mac.  Right?  A big mess of windows covering each other up.  Suppose you're surfing in Safari but need iTunes?  But iTunes is hidden.  So what did you do?  You went to Spaces as step one, moused over to your iTunes space as move two, and then clicked it as move three.  Seems like a great solution until the day you discover that you could simply click on iTunes in the dock as move one and arrive at iTunes.  As one step.  Period.  Really simple, right?
Why have Spaces and apps dance around when you can just click the app you want and be done with it?  That's the critical observation to make in order to follow my entire line of reasoning.  Sure, it may look really cool and make Windows machines look like junk, but at the end of the day, why add two steps to something you might do 100 times a day -- switching between apps.
So why OH why did Apple add Spaces?  Simple:  because too many apps were visible at once in one 'desktop' window.  So if you can build many new desktops, there might only be one or two in each.  Great solution.  Right?
Wrong, as it turns out.  Because we still have the two extra steps.  It's a weak solution.  And it's in complete contempt of the Dock, which as it turns out, offers the strongest solution.
The strong solution would be that only one app is visible in your Mac's window at all times.  Say you're in Safari.  Despite having 12 other apps open, you only see Safari.  Your dock tells you that you have other apps open, but nothing else sits in your window BUT the app you're using.  So you want to go to iTunes?  So click on it in the dock and Safari vanishes and iTunes emerges by itself.  No other windows.  What could be simpler?  (This app is freeware known as ISOLATOR.)
If you download and try ISOLATOR, you'll say, umm, okay, but wait:  sometimes I do want more than one window in view.  Okay, fine, turn it off then.  From the handy menu bar menu.  I find that 98% of the time I need ISOLATOR on.  Mileage may vary.
So let's recap.  One third party software removes distracting desktop clutter, the other removes distracting app windows.  Both can be toggled on and off from the menu bar.  One is free, one costs $2.  These two solutions remove the only real feature of FULL SCREEN APPS and make SPACES and it's newfangled cousin MISSION CONTROL pointless.
Need that last one explained?  Well, what's Mission Control but a variant of spaces?  To invoke MC and switch to the needed window are those same two annoying steps Spaces added into the mix.  Nothing was fixed.  Plus, like spaces, you must invest time and energy organizing such spaces.
Why bother?  And so I ask again:  can somebody who's read and tried the above carefully explain to me why Mission Control, Launchpad, and Full Screen Apps are really needed at all?  (Outside of small screened Macs.)  Doesn't the dock and these two sharewares together solve most problems?
    Am I missing something?

I agree with everything you said about full screen apps, mission control and launchpad. For apps that made sense to run full screen, they already could under SL. Launchpad is totally unnecessary and Mission Control is a mere shadow of Expose and Spaces.
However, I feel you have not given due credit to Spaces. The point of Spaces is to let one organise logical desktops for different tasks, not just a way to reduce the number of windows on display. For example, I have a Space for software development where I run Xcode and the iPhone simulator, a Firefox window showing perhaps documentation or some other websites pertaining to software development, a Finder window that is opened in the folder with my design docs. I have another Space where I have the remote login sessions, yet another Space with another Firefox window where I do general surfing and emailing. I can switch between these spaces using a keyboard shortcut, which is much quicker than having to lift my hand off the keyboard, move it over to the mouse, move the mouse pointer over the Dock, find the app and click on it, only to find that it has switched to the wrong window of the app.
Without Spaces, organisation of my desktop is disrupted each time I want to switch task, whereas Spaces allows me to drop everything I am doing, go and do something completely different for a while and go back to my exact previous environment. I have a 27" iMac so am not short of screen space but I use Spaces extensively. BTW, switching Spaces using a keyboard shortcut is a lot faster on SL than the equivalent on Lion, thanks to the gratuitous screen animation of the latter.

  • Camera video preview - Random crashes and green screens

    Hello everyone,
I am currently working on a Windows Phone 8.1 app and I need to preview video from the phone's back camera. For quite some time I've been struggling with random crashes and green screens. When these green screens appear, all camera apps become affected and
the device needs to be restarted. Occasionally the phone freezes and only recovers after battery removal. I test the app on my Lumia 620.
After some web search, I found references to the same problem by many users/developers of different apps. I'm really frustrated as I've tried many possible solutions with no avail.

    Thank you

I will also advice that you start by following the
    Windows Store app sample.
Is this a Windows Phone app?
The crash/green screen only manifests itself when I suspend my app and switch to the default camera app (could be any other camera app perhaps). It happens roughly 1 out of 8 times. That's why I posted the suspension and resuming handlers, which I wrote
    according to the msdn instructions.
    I found
this page with a sample that demonstrates the MediaCapture API for Windows Phone. Some developers have reported problems similar as mine. Has Microsoft dealt with this issue?
I've spent quite a few weeks trying to investigate this problem, without actually knowing if it is my code that needs to be debugged. That's why I'm asking if other developers are facing similar problems.
    Thank you
Edit: It seems that the crash/green screen can appear when suspending/switching to any app (regardless if it uses the camera or not). Also, all works fine when the app is running on the debugger.

  • Random Freezing and booting problems

My MBP (4 years old) randomly freezes and the only button works is the power button. It has booting problems as well
    Done already
    clean install of snow leopard
    PRAM reset
Safe Boot (boots again after using safe boot but still freezes after a couple of minutes)
AHT hardware test with no result
Still freezes after 1 to 15 minutes.
    Anything else I cab do?

Wow my first time i use this forum and a fast reply.
Unfortunately not at home at the moment so can not give exact answers.
When my mac book freezes the fan still works, keyboard and touch pad do not work anymore. I don't think caps lock light works but not sure.
Have original ram and a retail SL disc.
When I have booting problems I can see the spinning wheel and after that only blue screen. If I power off and start in safe mode and then restart again mbp will boot again for 2,3 or 4 times and then stop booting again but still freezing after a couple of minutes.
The funny thing with the booting is after I see the blue screen I can still connect from my mac mini and browse my MBP from my mac mini.(screen sharing does not work though).
And do not know what smart status is
But thank you for your quick reply.

your 13-inch Mid 2009 MacBook Pro requires 1066 MHz RAM, but you have 1333 MHz RAM installed. Try replacing the 1333 MHz RAM with 1066 MHz RAM — Macs can be picky about the RAM which they find acceptable.

If nothing else works, you might try this one. It has worked for many others ...
Use iTunes to do a reset to factory default condition. Always be sure to do your backups before fiddling with your iPad. You might do both the iCloud and the iTunes backup, just to be sure!

iPad 2 and iOS 8.0.2 Problems
For all iPad 2 owners, this is an important solution for you! These problems result from long-term use, continuous upgrades, corrupted files and various glitches that happen over this long term use. You just need to get your iPad 2 back to FACTORY FRESH CONDITION to start out clean!
Here's one person's solution which will help a lot of iPad 2 users!
keithfrommariettaOct 12, 2014 3:25 PM Re: IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgrade
Re: IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgradein response to pacoKAS
SOLVED:  IOS 8 Issues on iPad 2:
I just returned home from a visit to the Genius Bar. Like you and many others, when I upgraded my iPad 2 to IOS 8, it became practically unusable. It was VERY slow, lagged whenever trying to to do anything. Lots of screen freezes and apps spontaneously crashing. I was convinced that the processor on the iPad 2 just couldn't handle the new IOS and I went in to see about restoring to IOS 7.
Thankfully, I was hooked up with a very sharp guy at the bar. The problem is not with the OS, it is with it being an *upgraded* OS. He used the analogy of when you had an older Windows computer and how over time (and over upgrades), they just tended to get slower and slower because of all of the garbage that was carried forward in the upgrades. At those times (and if you've ever had a Windows computer, you get this), the only thing that would speed it up would be to wipe the machine and do a fresh install of the current OS and then reload your apps, and the viola, everything would be fast again. Well, it turns out that IOS can suffer the same problems.
THE FIX:  FIRST, be sure you have a current iCloud backup of your device.  Connect your iPad to a computer that has a clean fresh copy of IOS 8 on iTunes (this is best done with a computer other than the one that you sync your device to because you DO NOT want to restore it from a back up just yet). Ideally, if you do this at an Apple store you'll be assured of the right version there and someone to answer any questions you might have along the way. You then hold the power and home button down to hard-reset the device and continue to hold them down until it reboots into recovery mode. You then follow the instructions on the computer to reinstall the OS on the device (which wipes everything from it and then reinstalls a clean copy of it). Once this is done (which only takes about 15 minutes), your device will reboot and ask you to set it up. Answer the questions about language, location, etc. and continue until it asks you to log into your iTunes account. Once you do that, it will ask if you want to either 1) Set it up as a new device, 2) Restore from iCloud, or 3) Restore from iTunes. Choose (2), restore from iCloud. This will ensure that it brings down "clean" copies of all of your apps and preferences rather than the potentially corrupted ones that might reside in your iTunes backup. That's it! It will take a few hours depending on how much data and apps you have, but I am happy to report that my iPad 2 is now running IOS 8 and it's running as fast as it ever did when it was brand new!
To sum it up, this process 1) Wipes your device and the garbage causing your problems, 2) Loads a clean and bug-free version of IOS 8 to your device, and 3) restores your apps and data so that it looks just like it did before the wipe, with the exception that it works now!  :-)
Note also that by following this process you don't have to go through the painful and laborious process of reloading all of your apps, data and/or settings. iCloud takes care of all of that for you.

  • Timeline and full screen view in PSE11

I have read as many reviews of PSE11 as I can find but none have mentioned the Timeline, which I use every day. Does it still exist in PSE11? What about the full screen view and compare side by side view? Do they still exist. If they do, can you still see the image full-size by clicking on it in full screen view?

Timeline and Full Screen View exists in PSE11 and all the earlier functionalities present in full screen view are present. The Timeline and Full Screen View can be accessed from View menu of Elements Organizer.

  • Freezes and Gray Screens

I've been experiencing freezes and gray screen at startup problems on the MBP for a while and I'm at a loss as to what to do next.
Here's what I've done so far:
Run memtest, Drive Genius Disk Check for bad sectors and extended Apple Hardware Test - all ok - so I believe the hardware is good.
A clean install of Snow Leopard with the SL upgrade disk. The MBP came with Leopard installed.
Run Disk Warrior several times and replaced directory.
Read and followed the Apple Gray Screen support document and concluded peripherals were not a cause.
Udated drivers including printer (Kodak 5100) Axiom Pro Hypercontrol.
Bought a replacement Western Digital Scorpion Black 500gb drive, ran Disk Check and installed 10.6 from the upgrade disk and ran Software Update. Installed Logic Pro and still had a gray screen when booting from a Firewire connection.
I've read that the gray screen is an indication the computer can't find the OS. As far as the  freezes are concerned I'm just stumped. Do I need to do an archive and install from the original Leopard disk and then upgrade with Snow Leopard?
    Thanks for reading.

Have a problem where I'll occasionally shift my computer (i.e. physically move it, say from the coffee table to my lap on the couch) and it will freeze and the screen will turn into a bunch of horizontal multicolored lines (closer to 100 lines than 5). Usually restarting (by holding the power button to turn it off) works. A few times that has resulted in the three beeps (RAM issue? -- I've since replaced my RAM [it *seemed* to stop it for a while, but maybe not]), but the second time it always works. Attempting to SSH into the computer during this state does not work. Please advise as to what to do/what reports I can run and post. I will take a pic next time it happens.

Sounds like a problem with your GPU. Do you have an external display you could connect your machine to in order to test this? If the external display renders the same way, then your GPU is damaged. If the external renders fine, then the CPU display is damaged.

  • Full screen images and full screen color background boxes are cropping horizontally.

Full screen images aren't loading and full screen color background boxes are cropping horizontally. I'm forced to make my images a full screen slide show (of 1 image) to make it work, but then I lose the option to pin the image. Am I alone in this?

    Hello,
I would request you to share the a url or few screenshot so that i can get better idea about the issue.
To create a temporry url you can go to File > publish in muse.
