Gah - Fireworks into Dreamweaver help

Ive done it before. What i have is a map of queensland
(australia), and on particular sections there are drop down flashy
menus that show the names of cities. I have linked all the cities
and such to websites, now its a matter of uploading it to
dreamweaver. Everytime i export to dreamweaver, and then Import
Fireworks HTML on dreamweaver, the splices appear perfectly fine,
but the map of queensland doesnt appear at all. instead, i get
stupid little 'broken image' symbols.
I dont know what is so different to this from last week. last
week i did the same thing, except with an australia map, and it
worked perfectly fine.
What am i doing wrong?!
Help! lol

  • Best Strategy for Exporting Fireworks into Dreamweaver

I created a navigation bar in Fireworks and now I want to export it into Dreamweaver.
So I Went to Edit->Copy HTML Code (hotkey for this is Ctrl+Alt+C)
Now, what's the "best choice" from the dialog choices: AIR HTML, Dreamweaver HTML, Generic HTML, GoLive HTML, AIR XHTML, Dreamweaver XHTML, Generic XHTML or GoLive XHTML for a cross browser "professional" website?
I only tried the "Dreamweaver HTML Option" and itseemed to work nicely in my rookie opinion.
I think this technique might be at a performance cost to my graphic design or the website speed. So should I use a different strategy for exporting Fireworks to Dreamweaver?  I have the CS5 package so can use any of those programs for support.
    Thanks,

INHO, the best way to export from Fireworks to Dreamweaver is to first define your site in Dreamweaver, and then export the Fireworks document to the assets folder. Place your cursor when you want the navbar to be on your HTML page and choose Insert > Image Objects > Fireworks HTML.

  • Flash code into Dreamweaver - Help please!

I am using GoDaddy for my hosting account. It is on a linux
server. I have created an HTML page and loaded it up to the
internet using Dreamweaver, like I normally do. the page in
    question is
    http://www.desmoinesbilliards.com/gallery.html
When I use dreamweaver to insert the flash movie, it
transfers it as normal, but it will not show up on the website. The
flash movie works fine on the server, just cannot be seen on the
site. I called Go Daddy who said that there is a problem with the
way the code is calling up the Flash movie. I have not altered it
at all from the way that Dream weaver inserts it. The flash movie
is located in a folder on the site called 'flash'. The code is
below. I can't figure it out, any help would be appreciated. The
code that dreamweaver inserts is below. By the way, I use
Professional 8 version of both products.

Upload the scripts folder that DW places in your local site
    when you insert
    Flash on a page.

  • How do I link this drop down menu created in Fireworks when I export to dreamweaver, Help!

    Hello everyone,
Thank you in advance for dealing with my inexperience and answering my question.
I have been stuck on this for wayyyy too long. Here is my problem. I created a drop down menu for a portfolio website I am building. When I pull this into Dreamweaver the way to link the menu items to the pages is elusive. I have no idea what to do. Please help?
Here is the screenshot. Thank you very much     Jennifer
OK, Well no one can actually see this image since it came in so small, but please help me anyway if you can?

Thank you for answering my question. I created the graphics in photoshop, sliced them in fireworks and now I am pulling the site in dreamweaver to link it. The dropdown is just a little dropdown menu. I created it in Fireworks because when I tried to create one in Dreamweaver I had to use a spry which was even harder to figure out and get to work. If I knew Html or CSS my life would be much easier but I don't. I don't have much time to learn it right now since I work over time all week, do graphics freelance and I go to school for computer science. I need to get this site up and I just want a fast little fix to get it up. When I have time to learn more I can make this site better or start a better site, but for right now it just needs to work. Is there a way to get what I have working so I can just get this site up. Later I will have more time and more experience to do this better. I am learning so thank you for your experience.
    Thanks,
    Jennifer

  • Help exporting into Dreamweaver

Fireworks. I want to import the images into Dreamweaver in order to
make them into a template for my site. Can you anyone get me

Map all styles to tags and then use the export to HTML command.

  • Fireworks buttons into Dreamweaver

    Hello,
I have made some simple buttons in Fireworks that I would like to export and place in Dreamweaver. The buttons are symbols with an up and over state, but additionally I have added pop-up menus to each button. I know how to export and place buttons into Dreamweaver without the pop-up menus... just insert them as rollover images. But after adding the pop-up menus and exporting the button as images, html, and slices I don't know what to do to get them to work in Dreamweaver. Just inserting the html doesn't work... the buttons just appear as a stagnant image. There appears to be some JavaScript that was generated when I made the buttons... do I have to do something with that?
If anyone can think of a way to get my buttons to work interactively in Dreamweaver I would really appreciate it! Thank you so much!

Here's the reason why Alec suggested (and I totally agree) that the FWs built dropdown menus shouldn't be used.

There is a new alternative which are the Spry Menus, but even those aren't something that I'd choose for a navbar for a site of mine.
Here's a tutorial that helps you build a complete CSS driven dropdown menu - user friendly, easily to build and definitely SEO friendly.

  • NEED HELP. Created Website Template in Photoshop CS5, but cant center it into Dreamweaver CS6

I created a website layout template in Photoshop cs5 once i opened it into Dreamweaver i was trying to Align it to Center but it would not go center still stays to the left. I know that something is not right i am missing something and i am new to this not much experience with Dreamweaver, can someone please tell me how to fix this issue in a way a beginner would understand, i greatly appreciate the help.

Did you export HTML from PShop?  Graphics apps generated code is not suitable for real web pages.  It's really only acceptable for quick comps to show the client before you undertake the real work of building the layout in DW with HTML & CSS code.
To center pages, you need 3 basic things.
A valid doc type declaration on the first line of your code.
A stated width in px, % or ems.
    A margin-left and margin-right of auto.
Copy & paste this code into a new, blank document in DW.  Save and preview in browsers.
    <!doctype html>
    <html>

  • Need help importing files into Dreamweaver CS5.5

    Greetings,
Currently I have website that is hosted on GoDaddy.com http://www.4thdist.org/home.php  . This site was created by another person that is not available to help with my problem. I am attempting to modify or edit this website using Dreamweaver CS5.5 and having difficulties loading the files into Dreamweaver.
First, using Filezilla I downloaded all the files and folders to my PC. At this point, I am stuck and cannot figure out how to upload or open the files and really need some advice. I read the Adobe help section on "importing" and it describes a .ste file. I searched the download folder and cannot find any file (*.ste)
I am hoping to salvage the site and not have to reinvent the wheel and start over. Any advice would be extrmely helpful........Gary

    Thanks for the quick reply.
Your comments raised some new questions. Let me update all on where I am. First, I am able to connect to GoDaddy server via the the local and remote views in the bottom right corner of DW. I see the file folder structure on GoDaddy. I can also see the file structure on my local hardrive that I copied using filezilla. Although, using the server connection I notice that I can download the files using this connection now. Should I delete what I did via filezilla and start over using the romote server connection? One more problem. I have content for two (2) websites on the remote server. http://www.vfwstatepoolleague.org/ This is in addition to the listed in my original post. Although, it appears the other website content is in a seperate folder. I assume that I will need to separtate this content somehow. At least link to it when I begin to start to create a .ste file for each site.
I started to read the article "Creating your first website"in your post and should be very helpful. I did run into a little road block.
I created (2) site names and linked to the appropriate folder on my hard drive. Although, I do not have: "check_cs5" folder on my local or remote folder. What does that mean? Should I create one?

  • How do you insert a slide show into a page in Fireworks or Dreamweaver CS4?

Newbie here. I just made a nice 4 image slide show in FW CS4 (under COMMANDS, CREATE SLIDESHOW) but can't figure out how to insert it into a page in FW or Dreamweaver CS4. My goal is to insert it into a FW page, then send it as a PDF to the boss for review before it goes into Dreamweaver. Can that be done? I assume if you can create the slide show in FW, then you can see it FW - or is that asking too much?? So far, I can create it, then choose to preview it in a browser (and it looks good). But then I click "done" and "x" out of the screen and it's gone. I saved the slideshow in a folder I created on my desktop. When I open the folder I see an images folder, a scripts folder, an "index.html", a "player_black.swf", and a "slideshow.xml". I've tried dragging all of these onto the FW page but nothing happens.. Also, the "insert" button in FW doesn't have a preset for slideshows. Neither manual mentions how to insert it into a FW or DW page.. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Problem solved. Found an import movie within iMovie.

  • Problem with exporting Fireworks mock-up into Dreamweaver

    Hallo everyone,
I’m  beginner in Fireworks and Dreamweaver. Right now I am working on a  mock-up of a web-site in Fireworks. Just for practice, I created very  simple structure in Fireworks CS5 (two rectangles with one line of text  in 3 different languages placed into one rectangle). When I exported  created page into Dreamweaver CS5 as Html and Images, it looked nice  (obviously, since it is Html and Images). Then I tried to export the  page as CSS and Images. The strange thing is that the page looks fine  when displayed in Firefox, but the text breaks into two lines when  displayed in Explorer or Opera. Moreover, the design of the page in  Dreamweaver doesn’t replicate the Fireworks’ mock-up and looks not as  nice as in Fireworks. For you reference I am including the Html and CSS  code that was created by Fireworks. Does anybody have an idea what is  happening and what should I do to prevent this kind of problems when  trying exporting more complicated Fireworks mock-ups?
    Sincerely yours,
    Arti

  • Inserting fireworks html into dreamweaver css

I have been using Fireworks CS4 to design layouts and export CSS into Dreamweaver CS4, which works just fine.
I want to import a Fireworks HTML pop-up menu in my CSS based Dreamweaver page.  I have used Fireworks Export HTML and Dreamweaver's insert Fireworks HTML in the past but the pop-up behaviours are lost when I import it into a template that is CSS based.   I figure I'm missing something simple, as usual.
Can the two be mixed?  Do I need to edit the code view and insert a DIV manually or something?  Can I just link to it with css somehow?
    Getting rather frustrated now!

I had a lengthy reply written for this but lost it when I was logged out - seems the forum has a bit of a problem at the moment  (at least for me !).
I'm not up to re-writing it all again, but in essence, I agree totally with Nancy, do not use html generated by Fireworks or any graphics program for that matter.  If you were to ask the same question over at the FWs forum, you would be told the same thing, exporting HTML and CSS is ok for protypes, but not for live production sites.
    TAKING FIREWORKS COMP TO DREAMWEAVER:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/dw_fw_css_pt1.html
The rule of thumb is to design the layout in FWs but build the site in Dreamweaver.  The Spry menus are much better than the old popup menus, but the customisation of them does depend on your knowledge of CSS.
    Customizing a Spry Menu:

There are many websites that show how to use CSS to create nicely styled menus, including Dropdowns and I'm sure with a lot less code bloat  :-)

  • Importing Fireworks CC html into Dreamweaver CC

Hi guys. Hope you can assist.
I have never encountered this problem before. I have always used Fireworks to "cut up" my flat designs from Photoshop, export it as html (nav bars, footers, etc) and then I simply import it into a Dreamweaver html page in which I have created a table.
Now I suddenly have an issue where the Fireworks html table is broken once I import it into Dreamweaver - viewed by itself it's perfect - even in Dreamweaver its perfect. It also adds a space underneath the FW html/table.
Only when I view it in a browser does it appear messed up.
    What is causing this?
    Thanks in advance.

That looks like it could be the browser default text descender padding from the html5 doctype, and/or the IE linked image border.
Add the following to your css...
    img {
         display:block;
    a img {
         border:none;

  • Can someone help me get my sql files into dreamweaver? (Please, my site up today)

I need help getting my site into dreamweaver I have sql files and instructions from a past web designer I know. I just can't get it open because I am a nub. I am offering a shared screen to my computer though join.me https://join.me/784-748-841. My phone number is 361-523-9919.
The screen share shows my computer screen and mine only. I will share mouse control and show you the files and my problem. I will type to you through word and you can type back.
The web programer sent two files by zip called ikainica_woat.sql and localhost.sql in a folder call ikainica_woat, a program link to MAMP which I already installed and the following instructions:
    http://webdesign.about.com/od/dreamweaverhowtos/ss/dw_dynamic_site_2.htm
    Also a great tutorial
This is one I use to connect to your database that is currently online.
Make sure all of your files are opened in dreamweaver, meaning all of
your index files and CSS files. I have included the CSS files in your
FTP folder so you can load them on your local server and see the
    changes."
I am just confused.  Please help this site is suppose to go up today.

  • Help With Fireworks and Dreamweaver

    Hi,
I am a graphic designer wanting to expend mt skillset. Mainly because I am currently at a job day to day that requires minimal amount of web stuff. It would benefit me greatly to have the web skills too. Anyway, I am having trouble in fireworks and dreamweaver. Sometimes something gets handed to me and I can open it DW and edit th text, send it back and it is fine. ready to go. More recently, I have been asked to change some marginal issues, plus create some things from scratch. I naturally went to Fireworks to do my layouts. I need to understand the best way to create something in FW and export it so that the code is as complete as possible fro DW. I know it is not that simple, but the web work that I am doing fro right now is VERY simple stuff. i just dont know the basics to get it done. Please help.
    Thanks

Fireworks is not a coding environment. Use Fireworks to design your layout and export your graphics. Use Dreamweaver to write the code to implement the design. The code that Fireworks can export is for creating prototypes with; it isn't intended for live sites.
If you want to expand your skill sets in the Web area, then that means learning HTML and CSS. You cannot get by on the exported code of a graphics program. Here are a couple of beginner tutorials:
    http://articles.sitepoint.com/article/html-css-beginners-guide (Good)
http://net.tutsplus.com/tutorials/html-css-techniques/design-and-code-your-first-website-i n-easy-to-understand-steps/ (Excellent; the author uses Photoshop in this tutorial, but it can be done with Fireworks just as well.)
