Galaxy Note Edge Wifi Connection keeps dropping off

My wifi connections keeps disconnecting even after many attempts to login and getting connected on my home wifi it disconnects within a few seconds. Checked my modem and router and all is good (up to date firmware) and no connection issues on other devices. I verified my Edge is up to date as well. I am at a loss as to why it keeps auto disconnecting from my wifi. I tested tethering to my other cell phone and it stayed connected to it. So where do I go from here?

Cesmenow,
Thanks for reaching out to us. We can assist you. To confirm, this is only happening on your home wi-fi connection or do you also experience it with all wi-fi's?
We can try a couple of troubleshooting steps to resolve this: First, try resetting the app preferences by going to Settings>General>Application manager>Applications then press Settings>Reset app preferences. Tell us if this helps.
If not, then please run your device in Safe Mode - http://tinyurl.com/oo54noe and try again. This turns off all 3rd party apps. Tell us if it helps.
Thank you,

I have just received my second MacBook Air 11" the Wifi connection keeps dropping. Also, after 3 meters away from the rooter it keeps searching for network! It is the second try and the same issues. Will Apple ever come up with a solution? There is a program pack for the connection issue but I cannot believe that this computer wifi keeps connected only while nearby the rooter!

  • Why does my wifi connection keep dropping in and out?

I have Samsung Galaxy Note 2. The wifi is connected to the wireless router and is the only pc of equipment that is. Full bars. Yet the note keeps dropping the wifi saying it has authenticity errors? My previous cell had absolutely no issues. And its a new router.

  • T400 WiFi connection keeps dropping

My T400 WiFi keeps dropping the connection, and wonder if anyone has any suggestions.  When it drops, I've tried to reconnect by going to Network and Sharing Center, clicking on Wireless Network Connection and try to restore from there.
I get a repair window, then nothing happens.  The machine seems to lock up - I lose the task bar, the Windows button doesn't work, and I have to force shutdown via Ctrl-Alt-Del.  When it boots up again, the wireless reconnects without problems, but then will drop out again after a few hours.
I've tried reinstalling the most recent drivers for the wireless card, but to no avail.
    Any suggestions, please?

You can try either of these and see if they help.
Tap Settings, then tap Safari on the left side. Then on the right side - tap clear history, clear cookies, clear cache. Clear all three. Reboot your iPad. Hold down on the sleep button at the top until the red slider appears and slide to power off. Then hold down on the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and the iPad will restart. Launch Safari and see if helped.
If that doesn't help, try this. Tap Settings, then tap General on the left side, then scroll down on the right side and tap Reset, then tap Reset Network Settings at the top. Reboot your iPad as described above. Go to WiFi select your network, enter your password and try again.

  • Wifi connection keeps dropping from mbp

how disappointing. after spend a few years thinking about switching to mac from pc i finally pulled the trigger and was looking forward to some issue free computing.
after investing in a new 17" mac book pro how disappointing it is to find that it drops the wifi connection every few minutes.
I live in the country so have no other wifi networks nearby to cause interferance. in the house we have 2 iphones, an ipad, samsung netbook and sony laptop all of which have no issues whatsoever with the connection...ever.
during browsing the signal strength will suddenly drop to zero. to get back on I have to click on airport and select the network name again and a few seconds later the connection is back there, fulll stregth.
I am only ever a few meters away from the router (4-5m) so range is not the issue. i've installed all software updates so that can't be an issue.
come on apple - this is not the user experiance i was looking for from a £1500 machine.
i've googled the issue and tried a few of the solutions people have suggested but had no joy.
any ideas how i cn fix the issue?

I also find the experience with Wi Fi on the unibody MBP of mid 2010 production less than stellar. I have a MBP, 15", i7 and also decided to 'pull the plug' on Windoze and get the Mac experience. Build quality is stellar, human/machine interface off the charts and a blast to use. BUT, that said, we have a Linksys router and five other PC's, plus numerous other toys running Wi Fi including our Netflix (Vizio) box....and the only thing that EVER drops a signal is Mac....and I do mean the ONLY thing.
From what I can tell in researching the issue (and I've done a TON of it!) is the encryption mode seems to be far, far more sensitive on the MBP's than similar Windows machines. The PC's just take whatever signal you feed them and are happy....the MBP seems to balk sometimes and I've juggled my settings on it until now I do have a robust connection but still feel Apple needs to research this MUCH more....there are a ton of complaints that all center on mid-year 2010 produced MBPs of all sizes, all processors and it's not confined to this message board, they're everywhere!
Fuel to the fire comes if you run an Airport Express too. We've got one for running our Bose sound system and it also just drops out....have arrived home and see the green light changed to orange and have to run the Airport utility to get it synced back up.
My .02 cents worth, at least.

  • When in sleep mode my wifi connection keeps dropping out

Since updating to iOS 6 on my iPad 3 when I but my pad into sleep mode I loss wifi connection. When I wake the pad the wifi connection comes back.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Not likely an infection at all.
Wake from sleep is usually some problematic USB or FW device.
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for Sleep/Wake problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport in 10.4 & below, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • Broadband connection keeps dropping off

Hi everyone, anybody having a problem with there broadband connection dropping off constantly with the new BT infinity broadband. I constantly have to switch my IPad off when I am on line and my laptop and wireless printer is also being affected by this. Can anyone suggest how I can correct this problem? Thanks in advance for any help. j

If all of the connections are wireless it is probably an issue with that rather than the Infinity connection itself. Download Inssider 2 onto your laptop and check if another network is using the same channel as yours.

  • My home WiFi connection keeps dropping, how can I fix this?

I have a MBP Mid2009 which is running on Yosemite. A couple of months ago it started giving a nosy issue: At home when connected to my home network, after being connected for 1 minute the connection drops, keeps connected to the router via WiFi but the internet drops. This only happens when the network is password protected, once, I removed the password and connection had no issues. Again this only happens at home, it is an Arris router and only happens when I assign a password.

    Hello joe2616,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
To troubleshoot this issue where your Wi-Fi network is dropping, please follow the directions outlined below.
Symptom: The network connection drops unexpectedly
Your Mac may not not stay connected to your Wi-Fi network reliably.
Your Mac may stop accessing the Internet during use.
    Solution
Use these steps if your computer disconnects from its Wi-Fi network unexpectedly.
Check your range to the Wi-Fi router and reduce the effect of interference.
If your computer is too far from your Wi-Fi router or your environment has too much Wi-Fi interference, then your computer may not detect the Wi-Fi network properly. The easiest way to check for range limits with your Wi-Fi network is to move your computer or your Wi-Fi router closer together and make sure that there are no obstructions (such as walls, cabinets, and so forth) between the router and your computer.See Potential sources of wireless interference for more information about interference and solutions.
Try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network. If your computer works fine when connected to a different Wi-Fi network, then the issue may be related to your network router or ISP. In that case, contact the manufacturer of your router or your ISP.

Since upgrading to Lion OS 10.7.1, the wifi connectivity keeps blocking up intermittently and we need to manually keep switching on and off the wifi utility to get the connection back. even locking the preferred wifi network in system preferences does not help. This never used to happen with Snow Leopard

This is a big thank you to Rys Sinnefeldt who posted this fix.
Rys has made this fix very easy to do and takes literally 2 mins. It involves replacing the Atheros Lion driver 4.0 and replacing it with the snow leopard driver. Don't worry, Rys has made this so simple to do even I could do it and so far I have had no more wifi drops.

  • Why does my generation 1 ipad keep dropping off

Why does my ipad keep dropping off. It is generation 1.

Dropping of of what - wifi? When you ask a question you need to provide enough info to get an answer.
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • 3G connection keeps dropping out after 4.2.1 update

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone could help me.
I have the iPhone 4, and it was working perfectly... until I upgraded to iOS 4.2.1.
Ever since then, my 3G connection keeps dropping out, and I'm just left with vodafone UK (with usually 3-4 bar signal) but no 'o', 'E' or '3G' symbol.
After about 20 minutes of no cellular data, I'd get the 'o' symbol, then 10 seconds later it would change to '3G'. But then after 5 seconds it would lose it. The cycle would continue in this way.
Strangely, when at home, the 3G would stay connected. But when I go anywhere, I lose 3G.
When I turn 3G off, I get constant 'o' connection where ever I go. It doesn't drop out.
I've tried resetting the phone, and resetting network settings.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks.

I'm having a similar issue with my new iPhone 4 (w/ 4.2.1)... It continually cycles through the following sequence:
    AT&T / 3G
    AT&T / No Data
    Searching…
    Searching… 3G
    AT&T / 3G
    (loops…)
Here is a video of the cycling. Note the iPhone 4 is just sitting on a coffee table in my house.
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7186070/ip4fw421searching.mov
Also worth noting, I just got the iPhone 4 and I updated it to 4.2.1 right away. Previously, I had a 3GS which did not exhibit any of this behavior in the same location in my house. Also, my girlfriend still has a 3GS and has FW 4.2.1 without these issues. I have a video of her phone in the exact same location taken just after the clip above and her phone maintains 3-bars / AT&T / 3G the entire time.
I picked up the iPhone 4 while out of state over the holiday weekend and did not observe any of these connectivity issues, in fact the 3G throughput of the iPhone 4 was significantly better (consistently got >4 Mbps down / >800 Kbps up) than what my family members were seeing with their 3GS models.
I believe it is a baseband issue introduced with the 4.2.1 update for iPhone 4, but I also strongly believe there is some tower component to this problem (ie, software revision at the tower or configuration).
Like others here, I also performed a restore to 4.2.1 through iTunes and setup my phone as "New" and I continue to see the behavior. The phone is unusable in my house unless I manually disable 3G. As a final data point, when I'm able to maintain a 3G connection long enough in my house I get the following throughput from Speedtest.net: 1863 Kbps down / 543 Kbps up.

  • Broadband connection keeps dropping, often without...

Equipment:  I have an ancient hub (curious-  do we get updates to these or do we just have to make do for years on end?), the first black one which is curved and it has been fine since I got it from a friend some years ago to replace the dinosaur white one BT supplied me with the day I got Broadband.
It is plugged directly into the master socket via a filter which has the only other other piece of equipment on it- a phone.
The Problem:  Since about the time I had the BT Talk function turned off (December 2013) the Broadband connection (not the Wifi) has been dropping daily.  After that date I noticed that it would drop just whenever I got a call on the landline phone.  I didn't address it then because I get perhaps five or six calls a week on my landline and so it was not noticable or an issue.
But tonight it even dropped after just a few seconds in a Google Hangout;  something I was able to do last week without problem.  I am assuming it is because of the talking, as it must be similar to Skype etc?  In total it has dropped randomly about 7 times and 6 or so times during the Google Hangout which I had to abort.
Summary of problem:  Basically it is as though the removal of the BT Talk triggered the Broadband connection problem which is increasing in frequency and severity.
Actions taken:  I have power-cycled, checked that I don't have a buzz on the phone-line, unplugged, checked and replugged the two cables (power and phone cable to hub).  They are not damaged/loose/wet/different from normal.  I have also used the trouble-shooter online at BT.
Aside:  What I can say is that over the years I have had horrendous problems with total loss of Broadband/telephone and even worse service with BT constantly blaming my "equipment" for the problems and every single time it turned out to be their equipment or even their engineers at fault (one simply unplugged us at the junction and gave our line to someone else and, though, I reported it within minutes of it happening and why, it took days for them to undo) so that I am not entirely surprised that something is amiss.
Question:  I am hoping someone here has an answer so that I don't HAVE to phone yet again (I have spent in excess of 60 hours on the phone with BT over the lifetime of this service with 37.5 spent to resolve one incident) or, worse, get billed £480 for nothing.  DOES anyone know what I can do to sort this?  Does anyone know what is wrong?
    Please and thank you.
may you always do for others and let others do for you ~Bob Dylan

Thank you for your reply john46.
It sounds like a possible high resistance joint have you tried connecting to the test socket and see if that resolves the problem it will also remove the risk of any charges when an engineer attends as they will have to to resolve the problem
    Yes.
The only thing I haven't done is tried another filter.  Will try that tomorrow.  However- it does seem awfully coincidental and nothing has changed here with the hub sitting less than four inches from the master socket as it has always done.
Then again it could just be that the hub is not up to par and the removal of BT Talk might just have been its death knell (mind you- I didn't even have a BT Talk phone any longer- that would have been with the first hub at the princely sum of £70 which never worked due to our line just being too "poor" or something very technical like that).
I am not sure where you have got the figure of £480 from as you will only be charged it the fault is found on your internal wiring or equipment
I didn't "get" the figure of £480 from anywhere.  BT did.  They charged me £240 for something which was their fault because the lass, allegedly in Bangalore (I grew up on Pondicherry, not too many miles away), misunderstood syntax and presumed to bill me for something the engineer already determined was not my responsibility.  And when I telephoned to tell BT that I had been billed in error her colleague billed me again instead of refunding me:  £240 + £240 = £480
It took an inordinate amount of patience on my part to explain this to a third BT customer service person as they (naturally) refused to believe me when I reported their colleagues' errors.
Had it not been for the 36.5 hours previously spent troubleshooting another problem for BT staff (38 of them- I have all their names and various flights of fancy written down somewhere) I'd have thought I was imagining things.
And so, when the engineer unplugged my line and blithely connected it to a new house in a junction box three miles down the road (as the better half was driving by no less) and we were able to give BT the time and location of where the "problem" authored from, which still only led to an engineer having to be sent to "investigate" the fault at our end some three days late-  I was no longer capable of surprise.
It is why I thought to ask if anyone had any experience with connections dropping out here first.  Might save me my last marble.
Well- it was worth a try.
may you always do for others and let others do for you ~Bob Dylan
