Galaxy S3 home screen button- home screen jump

I've been trying to search for answers to this but haven't found any solutions.  I've had my phone for just over 2 weeks ago and about a week ago I noticed that whenever I press the home screen button, my wallpaper picture "jumps" from left to right, and when it does, the picture is cut off and the screen is partially black.  It is hard to take a screen shot of this but this is the best I can explain of the situation.  It does this for a few seconds, then my home screen picture comes back.  I've tried using the stock photos that come with the phone and the live wallpapers but the same thing still occurs.
Is this the "lag" everyone is talking about?  I've tried turning off S-Voice using the home button, restarting my phone, and taking out the battery.  Nothing seems to work.  Do I need to reset my phone?  Kinda disappointing if I have to since I just got it.

Hi ellej5. Other than this hiccup with your wallpaper, I hope you're enjoying your new S3. I wasn't able to find any known issues of the S3 causing the wallpaper to lag while it's loading or jump around like you've described. Wildman had a few good questions though. Since this started about a week ago, I would actually start by uninstalling the application(s) you downloaded right before this started happening. (Settings > Application Manager > from the All tab, select an application > Select Uninstall. It's very possible that an application is causing interference with the normal process of the device. If you have installed any third party theme apps or launchers, I would also suggest to remove those too.
You can also try putting the phone into Safe Mode http://bit.ly/NnpVJG before you completely reset the phone. This will stop all the third party applications from running and allow you to run the phone a little more basically.

  • My ipod touch screen is broken and whenever i press the lock screen button, the screen is white, what can i do to fix this?

so my ipod touch screen is broken, and whenver i try to unlock the ipod screen, all that i can see is the top right hand corner of my ipod, and the rest is all whited out. Also, the jack which support the headphones to stay in place, one of the balls in the jack is pushed in which causes the headphones and stereo jack to slip all the time. I also have a problem which is when i try to sync my ipod to itunes. Last time i did it(which was 4 years ago), i synced my ipod and i started out with 225 songs, after the syncing process was complete, i ended up with 119 songs. I'm afraid to resync my ipod or back up my ipod to a computer because i dont want to lose the wonderful collection of 589 songs i have now. I'd really appreciate it if i got some feedback. Thanks.

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

  • Is there any way to restore an iPhone with a shattered screen, broken home button, with a passcode and no access to computer most recently synced with?

I have an iPhone with a completely shattered screen (the display wont even show up, just a black screen), the home button does not work. I have a passcode on the device, but I have not synced the device with my current PC (I got a new computer and don't have any of my syncs from my old computer). I recieved my replacement device today, and want to back up the iphone before I activate the new device - but I get prompted to put in my code on the phone before it will allow me to back it up. As the display is completely black and does not appear to respond to touch, and the home button is broken so I cannot put it in recovery mode... What do I do? If I took the phone in to my carrier's store, would they be able to override the passcode and put my information on my new device?

Sorry, no. Given the present state of your phone, your data is unrecoverable.

  • Had an iPhone 4 updating the OS when it was interrupted by the computer going to sleep and now is frozen on "plug into iTunes" screen.  Home/Power button combo will not reset, iTunes does not acknowledge the phone is plugged in.

I recently upgraded to the 5s, so I delegated my old iPhone 4 to a music player/daughter checking instagram and email.  Three days ago I plugged the iPhone 4 into iTunes to update it, the OS began updating.  During the update my computer went into sleep mode, interrupting the OS update.  Now the phone will not do anything but show the screen with the graphic indicating to plug the phone into iTunes.  I've tried a hard reset (holding down power button/home button), plugging the phone into iTunes before/during holding down the home button, holding down the buttons for various lengths of time in various permutations according to info I've found online, etc, and nothing happens beyond a brief showing of the Apple logo and then back to the same screen.  iTunes will make a connection noise when the phone is plugged in but otherwise makes no indication that a device is plugged in (no iPhone button in the tool bar, etc.).  Any ideas or do I need to take it to an actual Apple store and hope they don't tell me it is completely bricked?

Yep, done all that.  Repeatly.  Don't get any sort of recovery mode message or the phone showing up on iTunes at all.  iTunes is most current version, all diagnostics show everything fine, and it works fine with my current phone.  Just....nothing.

The problem started when I turned on the computer this morning. I tried to install Mozilla 4 from your website and that installed but I still have nothing on the top.

It may be due to Firebug. Seeing as how you're a web developer, it's very possible you have this installed. The latest version, 1.7X a10, appears to cause everything you described. I downgraded to "a8" and that seems to have fixed everything.
I also recreated a profile from scratch before trying this out, so I can't guarantee it's definitely Firebug.

edit: If you go to the Firebug forums, you'll see this is now a known problem. http://code.google.com/p/fbug/issues/detail?id=4012 for the issue tracker.

Most intelligent people would not store such sensitive data on a device that could so easily be lost, stolen, or damaged.  Even if they chose to do so, they would use the device as designed and regularly sync and backup that device as described in the User's Guide.
Have you done so?  If you have, all of the data is either in iCloud or iTunes on your computer.  Replace the device and restore the new iDevice with the backup of the old one.

  • When I press to the left of the home button, the screen lights up

When I press to the left of my home button, the screen lights up as if I were pressing the actual button. This causes Siri to pop up randomly all the time and my phone keeps accidently taking screen shots. Should I take it in?

I was a little confused when I first read this, but I think I understand what you mean now. The bottom left part of the glass on the front of the iPhone, by the home button, can cause it to act like you're pressing the home button. I do not experience this issue on my iPhone 5. This is probably a small defect in your iPhone. It isn't major, though, I'm  sure if you visit the Genius Bar in your nearest Apple Store, you can get advice from the experts on what to do.

  • Is there an on-screen touch feature that can be purchased to save wear and tear on the home/escape button?

Is there an on-screen touch feature for iPad 2 that will save wear and tear on the home/escape button?  If so, what's it called and where can I buy it?

And if you are running iOS 5, you can enable Multitasking Gestures in the General settings. This enables you to quit out of an app by just pinching with four or five fingers. That saves a lot of use of the Home button.
    Regards.

  • Solved my scratchy speaker problem. Do a hard reset. Home, sleep button. Hold till screen goes blank.

Had a scratchy speaker problem and strange sounds when ipad shutdown. Hold the home button and sleep button till screen goes blank. Turn on after a minute or two. Fixed it on ipad 4. Good luck.

Apple replaced with new phone under warranty, had to haggle a little to get that done.  Set up new one as a new phone, not from a backup, so as to not transfer any possible software issues to the new one, still re-setting up everything...      all was good for the first week or so, now this one does the same thing, plus a new issue.    While on calls the screen will go black, and the absolute only way to get control of the phone again is to hold both buttons down until the apple logo appears and phone restarts. Additionally, sometimes it will now become unanswerable when receiving a phone call, has only happened on vibrate, but it will go into a continuous vibrating mode and no way to answer the call or stop it, other than the two button restart.  Does it on normal calling, and on 4g lte calling setting (verizon).

  • The toolbar with buttons (home, refresh, etc.) has disappeared from the top of my screen. How do I get it back?

All the buttons (home, refresh, abc, alignment, bold, etc.) have disappeared from the top of my screen. How do I get them back?

If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key, that should make the menu bar appear.
Make sure that all the toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
    * If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
    * If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
    * If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

  • IPod Touch 1st Gen Home Screen Button

    Hi,
this is my second iPod touch, my first one which I brought in September 2007 was replaced after about 9 months after Apple were unable to fix it, so my current iPod has long ran out of warranty.
My new problem is that for the last 2 months, the home screen button has become very wiggly, and it had to be pushed in a certain angle or a number of times before it would actually work, now it doesn't work at all. To change app I have to turn it off, then back on which takes around 4 minutes.
I've already searched, but found no sufficient answers, has anyone else had this problem and has it been fixed? I would like to send it back to Apple, but I've heard they charge a lot and I could probably near enough buy a new iPod for the same price...
    Thank you

  • Iphone Home Screen button

So, recently my iphone fell straight into a toilet, literally completely submerged, everything surprisingly works except the home screen button, so I would have to turn of the phone and turn it back on, recently though it starts to work amazingly, but then sometimes it wont, its like 50/50, when it got wet also there was a problem with the dock icons sensing but when I brought it to the mac store they fixed it by, tightening the wires?, if I bring it to the mac store could they fix the home-screen button, its so weird because it works and then it sometimes doesn't?

There are moisture senors in the headphone socket and the base socket which will now be red. They will take one look at that (they do this first), and then point out that the warranty has been voided by immersion.
You only option will be an out of warranty replacement for £149.
