Galaxy S5 echo problem- only for other parties
Ok, similar to many others, my couple month old phone Galaxy S5 has an echo problem. Situation is: Only other party hears it (not me), other party does not hear it when I am on microphone, or bluetooth, or speaker, which I think rules out a SIM card issue. Removed case, no effect. Resets, no effect. Take off battery cover, works good but not a realistic approach.
Defective phone? If I have a full warranty coverage, will I get a new phone or refurbished, once this is determined to be defective...which it is? thank you.
My TalkBack app was not on and I just got my phone 2 days ago...I cannot use my speaker without people saying they hear an echo. Also...when I have my phone not on speaker phone it is SO loud I can hear the person talking without putting the phone to my ear...I tried to turn the sound down...it's down all the way and still super loud...ugh...

Howto make created folders/ files from one teacher, read only for other teachers?
Hello there,
as an admin @ school I was wondering how to make created folders/ files from one teacher, read only for other teachers?
- In a 2008domain, created a group "teachers"
- created a folder "teacher data" where all teachers have read/write permissions
ideal,a teacher who make's a folder in "teacher data" should be the only oen who is able to add file's to that folder and dele that folder or files. Other teachers may be able to read the content of the folder.
Is this possible to set up and how?

You could set the permissions below to resolve the issue:
For the root folder "teacher data": give the full control permission to CREATOR OWNER – "Subfolders and files only" and give the read/write permissions to the group "teachers"– "This folder only".

Is it possible to make an item editable for certain users and read only for others?
I've been able to accomplish this by taken the select statement that I used to define an authorization scheme, placing it in the Read Only condition of the item. However, I would like to simply reference the authorization scheme to utilize caching, and to help keep things cleaner for future maintenance.
Is it possible to reference an authorization scheme in an item condition similar to the way another item can be referenced by preceding it with a colon (i.e. :P1_First_Name)?Thank you, your suggestion worked.
It would be nice on a future release of APEX if a drop-down box existed under the Ready Only section that would allow an existing Authorization Scheme to be selected or negated when applying the Read Only attribute to a form item. -
Shared folder read-only for other users
We setup a new iMac with three accounts for members of the family. Two have admin rights. We installed Quicken Essentials 2010 for Mac, and put the Quicken data file in the Users/Shared/Quicken folder. Everything worked great for user #1 who copied the file to the shared Quicken folder.
User #2 (also an admin) was not able to open Quicken, as an error stating the file was read-only. I checked permissions, and set user1 and user2 with read/write and everyone with read/write. Basically, all permissions on that data file are read/write for everyone.
That still did not work. Then, I set user2 as the owner. Now, user2 can use Quicken and the file, but user1 cannot. Same error.
How do we get it so that files in the Shared folder are really shared and accessible to everyone?The solution that I discovered to work: Place your quicken data file(s) on an external drive (or create a partition if you only have access to a single hard drive) and have permissions on that drive (o volume) set to "ignore ownership on this volume" It works for me. Both accounts can now access my single quicken data file. To set the permissions on a drive/volume, select the drive or volume, choose "get info" from the file menu and at the bottom of the get info window mark the box "Ignore ownership on this volume".

Files or folders created by one user show as read only for others
We are using Server version 3.2.2, we have a group call production and then we have 9 users plus the administrator account. All users are assigned to the production group. We have a single share called customers and the group "production" has read and write permissions for the share and also for all the underlying folders and files.
Each user logs onto the share with their own username and password. But, when a user creates a new file or folder on the server within the "customers" share, they are assigned read and write permissions and everyone else is assigned "no access".
We then go into the folder on the server and assign the group "production" read and write access and life goes on, but the issue is that we should not have to.
From this description, can anyone tell me what we are doing wrong?In the sidebar of the Server.app window, select the icon at the top with the name of the server. Then select the Storage tab in the main window pane.
Navigate to the folder in question and select it. From the popup menu at the bottom with a gear icon, select
Edit Permissions...
Verify that the permissions are what they should be, and make changes if necessary. Then, from the same menu, select
Propagate Permissions...
Check all applicable boxes, including Access Control List. If in doubt, check all boxes. Click OK. -

If your machine came with Lion preinstalled, you cannot use it on another machine. It is tied to the machine it came with. You are allowed to make a one time transfer of the OS when you sell the machine as long as it remains with that machine.
If you purchase Lion from the app store, you are free to install it on as many Macs as you own - however, if/when you sell one of those Macs, you are required to uninstall Lion as the license is not transferable and you need to reinstall the original OS.

Your son may be hogging all the bandwidth but your wireless network should never simply disappear. Moreover, if your son isn't doing anything the available bandwidth for other devices should remain unaffected.
I suspect that something is miswired, and from what you describe I suspect that link is between the Extreme and the "other computer".
The way to accomplish what you propose is
Modem > Ethernet cable to Extreme's WAN port
Extreme's LAN ports > wired Ethernet devices.
There should be nothing but an Ethernet cable linking an Extreme LAN port and any other wired device. If you run out of available LAN ports on the Extreme, you need to by an "Ethernet switch" - they are not expensive, but don't call it a "splitter" or you will only confuse yourself. The switch would be connected to one of the Extreme's LAN ports, and you would connect additional devices to it. You can also use one of your Expresses for that purpose, assuming it is the current generation model with two Ethernet ports. -
When previewing images by clicking on the thumbnail in an Event for example, I've been finding that many images preview in a 'zoomed in' way so only a small part of the photos is previewed in a highly magnified view.
Initially I could find no cause. Then I tried right click - Edit and on the affected images, always get this warning:
"Image Cannot Be Edited - This photo was previously edited with another application or with an early version of Iphoto. Duplicate this photo to edit it." and a "Duplicate To Edit" Button is displayed.
The external Editor defined for iPhoto is Adobe Photoshop Elements.
Now, I reckon the MUST be others out there affected by this same apparent Preview bug, yet my searches have not revealed any answers. Also seems impossible to find a contact number for adobe???

I did not try your trick, didn't see your post until after i visited the Apple store. The tech at the genius bar did not know why my "Other" memory had grown so huge. It was over 24GB, which only left me with 1 GB free on my 32GB iPad. I had been loading and unloading video's yesterday thru itunes to try various compression settings. I did not notice the other categrory growing until I tried to load a 3 GB movie file and it told me I was out of memory.
I probably loaded and unloaded 30 different times, trying different compression settings. In the process of doing this, it apparently loaded up the "Other: stuff. To me it seems like recycle bin in windows, but no one knows how to free it up.
So here is what he did and it worked. He reset the iPad. Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Then he hooked it up to itunes on his computer. Fortunately I have everything backed up on my home computer. When my iPad showed up on iTunes at the store, it showed the 24 MB of "Other" momentarily, then it reduced to about .7 GB giving me 24.5 GB free. Resetting it seemed to do the trick, but he still could tell me how this is happening and how to prevent it.
I think I'll try to call someone at applecare to get an explanation, hopefully. -
I am receiving unauthorised billings for purchase from application Kingdom Age from seller Funzio, Inc . I can't find a place/link to cancel the billing neither report this problem. The link REPORT A PROBLEM only links you to Apple Store without a hint/directions whre you can report the problem.

Problem with "other" part of the flash storage in a new macbook air
I just bought a new Macbook Air and I have a problem with my flash drive storage. The "Other" part takes 46GB out of my 120. I only have photos, music and documents on my computer, and I installed Microsoft Office. Any advice as to how to reduce this totally unproportionate "other" storage?

I keep getting notified I have an update available but when I try to update I get the following msg ,"You have updates available for other accounts To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it.". I only have one account with apple and the software was preinstalled when I purchased my macbook in Aug 2012 with that account. Has anyone had this problem or know how to find out what account apple needs?
You log into the App store using the same Apple ID you used to set the computer up, verify that none of your apps are hidden and that they have all be accepted and then download and install the update
