Galaxy Tab 10.1 WiFi Connection

Hello,
I just gave my wife a new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 for Christmas and she loves it.  The issue we are having with it is that I can connect to the Verizon network but not my home network.  It takes my network password but then just continuously says "Obtaining IP Address..." but will not connect.  Also, I have my laptop sitting next to me and it shows full connection bars but the tablet only shows 1 bar.  Is there a setting I am missing someplace?
Tablet Information
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G LTE
Android Version 3.1
Network Information
Security Mode: WPA/WPA2-Personal(PSK)
Wireless mode: 11+b+g+n
Thanks

Hello daystrom5!
I know it's aggravating not being able to connect to your WiFi network with your Galaxy Tab.  I would like to assist with getting you connected.
I would like to suggest a few troubleshooting steps.  First, disable the mobile network data.  Then, I would like for you to turn "ON" WiFi.  Last, follow these steps to correctly Setup the WiFi Connection.  Just ensure the appropriate authentication protocol is set, matching the WiFi security protocol of your home WiFi network.  You should now be able to connect to your home WiFi network.
Please let me know how this works out for you.
Thanks,

  • Galaxy Note 2 with wifi connective issues

I am now getting random "authentication error" messages when trying to connect to home or other open wifi's.  I've tried most of the 'fixes' suggested in the other similar discussions with no luck in improvement.  I've gone the router fix route, 'safe mode' on the phone, and all of the variety of ways to reset the antenna.  Before I do a hard rest, is this fix for the Galaxy Note 2 wifi errors working for any of the other people that have posted a similar complaint?

Hi Dozonian - WiFi is a great supplement to mobile data so lets make sure it is consistent! Can you confirm your current software version baseband and build number? Settings>About Phone. Does the connection remain consistent when the routers WPA security is disabled? I am eager to get to the bottom of this!
    Thank you,

  • Request for Admin-BBY Sticky Post for new Trade In & Trade Up Samsung Galaxy Tab S $50 Offer Details

Considering some of the problems that people have had in trading in their qualifying working tablets not in Best Buy's trade-in system for a minimum $50 Best Buy Gift Card during the ending Surface 3 promotion... would it be possible for Admin BBY to post a new sticky message for the new promo starting today for trading in any non Nook/ereader tablet without screen/water damage that turns on for a $50 gift card and coupon for $50 off the Samsung Galaxy Tab S? It would be valuable to know if any of the terms of the trade-in have changed, and to head off questions about the inability to use more than one coupon per tablet purchase before you are inundated with complaints..
Thanks in advance! Nothing gets me into a brick and mortar store more assuredly than the promise of a discount off a coveted new piece of technology!

    Hello StellaDallas-
It’s definitely concerning when customers are experiencing disappointments with one of our promotions and I can certainly understand your desire to see something posted on our community to help head off any future issues.
The stores are provided with all the information that they need to process these promotions correctly and hopefully, we have also learned from any past mistakes as well when putting them together.  Right now, you can find all the details of the Samsung Tab 3 trade-in promotion here.  From what I can see, it seems to cover all the details of the promotion very well, including stating that only one coupon can be used per transaction.
Otherwise, as far as I can tell, the promotion is identical to the Surface 3 promotion, with the caveat that the trade-in must be used towards the purchase of a Samsung Galaxy Tab S.
    Thanks for connecting with us!

  • ADE Cant will not recognize Galaxy Tab 10.1

I can not get Adobe Digital Editions to see my my Android device. I have a Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1 and it says it is supported. My computer see's the device ok--- But ADE doesn't recognize it.
Is there something I am missing ?

I did register the product with Samsung, which was a
weird ordeal in itself.  Their online registration process wasn't working so I had to
call in and they couldn't even do it.  I had to wait for them to correct the web-site registration page for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wifi only.  Just a huge hassle from the begging.
It didn't include any process for setting up apps a all.  Now I'm beginning to wonder about the regisration process again
I think it does have Google books on it.  Maybe that's causing some glitch.  I'm going to load another e-book program and see if it makes any difference.
Thank you for all your help.

  • Galaxy Tab 3 not connecting to BT Home Hub4

    Hi,
I've been asked to look into an issue with connecting a Galaxy Tab 3 to a Home Hub 4.  I'm not at the location at the minute and from reading this: http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/44480/c/346 there is no notes on issues connecting to certain types of hubs.
From reading through forums it seems that there are a couple of possible issues:
    1. Entering the Home Hub password instead of the wireless key.
    2. There are a number of devices that have already connected to the hub and have a channel held for them and now there are no spare channels to connect to.  Delete some of the unconnected devices and then try again.
Is there anything else I should check or be aware of?  I'm trying to research possible issues before I go in order to avoid sitting there for hours trying to figure out an already known issue.
    Any advice appreciated.
    Thanks.

The most common mistake is using the Homehub's Admim password instead of the wireless passkey.
If that is not the cause you should make sure that "smart set up" on the Homehub has been turned off. See link how to do that.
    http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/44328/~/switching-smart-setup-on-and-off-on-the-bt-ho...
As has aready been mentioned by imjolly the link you posted stating that there could be to many devices connected and no channels avaialble is a load of rubbish. I have had in excess of ten wireless device connected wothout problem.
Try giving the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz frequencies different SSids. Just add a 5 to the end of the 5Ghz SSid so you know which is which. Check the 5 GHz Sync with 2.4 GHz: is set to NO.
Once you have done that "forget" the connection on the device and then restart the device and log onto both. The device should then automatically switch to the strongest signal.
You'll need to connect any other devices that can use both frequencies to both SSids if you want them to be able to use either of the frequencies.

  • Wifi only Samsung Galaxy Tab

I have bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab (10.1-Inch WIFI ONLY) from walmart.
Can i take this device to Verizon and purchase an cellular connection so i can get internet anywhere?
    thanks

I am guessing no.  You have already stated it is a WiFi only model, otherwise it would be labeled as 3G or 4G/LTE capable.
One thing you could do is use your smartphone's (if you have one) hotspot capability (assuming it has this) to access the internet on your new Tab.
    Good luck.

  • Asus TF700, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 3G/4G wireless connectivity

Hello - the Asus TF700 does not have 3G/4G wireless connectivity.  The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 does.  How big of factor should this be in deciding between these two tablets?
    Thanks
    s

It boils down to if you want a data plan or not.
Most phones have a wifi data sharing app or at worst tethering. Meaning if you have a phone with a data plan always on you (as most do) then you wouldn't "need" 3G/4G. But some like it just for convenience.
Me, I have no data plan on my iPhone or tablets. But I also spend 80%+ of my days at one of my jobs (both have wifi) or at home (also wifi). Also I live in the city and virtually every fast food place has wifi now, so if I need to look something up I just have to pull over for 5 minutes at the closest resteraunt. Just can't spend the extra $60+ a month on a data plan when you can get a gophone plan with unlimited text/calls for $25.

  • My Ipod nano is paired with my Galaxy tab 3 but will not connect?

my ipod nano recognizes my tablet but when I try to connect them, the ipod keeps saying "connection failed..." I would like to use my tablet as bluetooth speakers for my nano. I have downloaded an app onto it and it seems to work, it just needs to be connected with the ipod. They are paired, but not connected. How can I fix this?
    Thanks in advance

That won't work, the Galaxy Tab 3 is not capable of being used as A2DP speakers.

  • Cant connect to samsung galaxy tab 7.0 via bluetooth

Cant seem to connect via bluetooth to a samsung galaxy tab 7.0 via bluetooth both devices find each device but will not connect any ideas why?

No. You can't. That's not a feature of the iPhone. Never  has been. It does not support bluetooth file transfer.

  • Wifi for samsung galaxy tab

Hi I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy tab through Verizon and downloaded Skype on it.  I only have a 2g monthly data plan and was wondering how if any I can purchase wifi or something to use with it.  Thanks Missy

I believe the wifi only version will be available through Best Buy.  I think it was delayed through.  Maybe by late November or early December?
BTW I would suggest you remove your phone number from your device description.  Everyone can see it.

  • Samsung Galaxy s4 only works with wifi connection. No mobile connection available?

I can't connect to the internet unless it's thru a wifi connection.  Just started having this problem yesterday, 10/19/2014.

There could be an outage in your area.  One thing you could try is resetting your SIM card, i.e., turn off the phone, remove the SIM card (be careful not to touch the gold contacts), wait a minute or two, then reinsert the SIM card, turn the phone back on, and allow it time to establish a fresh network connection.

  • Galaxy Note Edge Wifi Connection keeps dropping off

My wifi connections keeps disconnecting even after many attempts to login and getting connected on my home wifi it disconnects within a few seconds. Checked my modem and router and all is good (up to date firmware) and no connection issues on other devices. I verified my Edge is up to date as well. I am at a loss as to why it keeps auto disconnecting from my wifi. I tested tethering to my other cell phone and it stayed connected to it. So where do I go from here?

    Cesmenow,
Thanks for reaching out to us. We can assist you. To confirm, this is only happening on your home wi-fi connection or do you also experience it with all wi-fi's?
We can try a couple of troubleshooting steps to resolve this: First, try resetting the app preferences by going to Settings>General>Application manager>Applications then press Settings>Reset app preferences. Tell us if this helps.
If not, then please run your device in Safe Mode - http://tinyurl.com/oo54noe and try again. This turns off all 3rd party apps. Tell us if it helps.
    Thank you,
