Galleries and MobileMe

Using Aperture to publish galleries to MobileMe I have noticed when a file is downloaded from the internet, it shows Adobe RGB (1998) for the profile name. Is there a way to change that to sRGB IEC61966-2.1?
I can't seem to find a preference that would do this.

This is expected behavior when using Stacks. The purpose of a stack is to stack groups several images of which you only intend to use one, known as the pick.
One solution to allow you to keep your stacks but use all the images in MobileMe Gallery, is to create a Smart Album within the project and use this Smart Album for your MobileMe Gallery.
Smart Albums you create offer the option Ignore stack groupings by unchecking the "Include stack picks only" from the Smart Album criterion. If this option is deselected (the default for a Smart Album), then all images that meet the criteria for the Smart Album will be available in the Media pane, regardless of stack pick status.

The new ios version of iPhoto allows sharing. Here's a blurb from Apple's web site:

I have not used ios version of iPhoto to share "journals" and I'm not sure this is part of iCloud or not. You'll have to do a google search on "ios iphoto" and read up of this journal thing. As far as I know, this is the only way of sharing photos. I'm not sure whether other friends use a browser to view these journals or whether they need something special. Any way - search around to find answers.

What is the best way to move my entire iphoto library and all albums and mobileme galleries to my new tower?
I want to move it smoothly without hours of reconfiguring albums and Mobileme galleries. Already have a timemachine backup of the older iMac with the iphoto library.

Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac - launch iPhoto on the new mac and it will open the library and convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward.

Updating sync between iphoto album and mobileme album

I have created a 'mobileme album' from an album in iphoto. However when i add a new photo to the 'iphoto album' it does automatically sync into the 'mobileme album'. Should this happen or do i need to recreate the mobileme album every time?

Neither
Just drag the new photo(s) to the MobileMe gallery in the source pane on the left under MobileMe galleries (and to the original album too as a backup) it will update automatically - do not make additional changes while it is updating - this may cause problems and duplications
MobileMe is updated when- and only when - you change the gallery in the MobileMe gallery section of your source pane.

Aperture3 and Mobileme

Everytime I try to publish a mobileme gallery with Aperture3 I get a message "An error occurred with the publication of album “_”. Request to the server failed".
I checked Mobileme preferences at Aperture3 and SnowLeopard and everything appears to be fine.
Any ideas?

After one week I've gotten my MobileMe galleries that I originally created with AP2 to work in AP3. After the upgrade I got the dreaded "Request to the server failed" message when I tried to synch a gallery. After trying "everything" (rebuilding, deleting, etc.), tonight I discovered that the problem was that several images in my gallery (on AP3) had the same version name (I had changed them to be meaningful titles). Once I made sure that the version names were unique, the gallery uploaded to MobileMe with not problem! There is obviously a change somewhere between AP2 and AP3 and MobileMe, because having the same version name did not cause a problem before. In the future I plan not to mess with the unique version name that gets created on import and use the comments field for a title. I think I want to do the same thing! I want to change my Apple ID which is an email address to my MobileMe email address. When I try to do this, I get a message that says I can not do this! Any suggestions?

Up-to-date contacts on iPhone and MobileMe won't won't update the Mac

Hi,
I just got an iPhone GS and there's a glitch that's driving me mad. (I had an iPod Touch before this so it's not all new.)
First of all I had duplicate Calendars and Contacts ("On my Mac" and MobileMe) so deleted those on my mac by following the instructions here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1922950 which just left MobileMe.
After a bit of fiddling and resetting the Calendars now work so that when I update the iPhone it appears on the Mac, and vice versa.
However, this is not the case with Contacts, and since repeating the process (resetting the Mac, deleting on iPhone and starting again) now if I make changes to contacts on the iPhone they do update MobileMe, but MobileMe does not update the Mac. When I update MobileMe on the website it won't update the Mac either.
I've done everything I can think of/have read about and would really love to get this working as it should.

Yet more information:
I went ahead and clicked "Replace" and then got the following error message:
"You are attempting to reset Contacts on MobileMe from this computer.
Contacts have recently been reset on Mobileme. Are you sure you want to reset the Contacts on MobileMe?"
But nothing changed (didn't even lose the up-to-date contact changes on the iPhone) but then I get the error messages again and again and again...

Back to my Mac - will it work between iCloud and MobileMe?

Just updated my MBookPro to Lion so it would work with iCloud and my new 4S. Everything moved over OK but there's one thing I'm concerned about: will Back to My Mac work now between machines that are not part of the iCloud account? I ask this because my Mac Pro at the office is still on Snow Leopard (and may remain that way, since I use it for editing+graphics and prefer to keep it clean and stable) and I use BtMM all the time to look at the MacPro while I'm at home. I took the precaution of logging out of MobileMe on the MacPro before I moved the account to iCloud on my laptop so there wouldn't be any weirdness. I imagine that if I went and logged in on it now I would no longer have the option of using BtMM on the same Apple ID anymore, yes? I have another Apple ID that's still under MobileMe, so I wonder if I could start using that one now on both machines under the old MobileMe system pref and link the two machines back together?

UPDATE: forget about signing in with a different MobileMe account once you've signed in to iCloud; even though both prefs exist, Lion will NOT let you sign in to both iCloud and MobileMe at the same time, even if they're different accounts.
Grrrr...guess it's back to Remote Desktop for me.

Outlook 2007 Calendar and MobileMe

I have one need with this which is synced calendar across iphone 3G, Dell laptop running vista ultimate and mobileme. At first it worked perfectly.
This morning I noticed that Outlook would show any appointment made on iphone or on mobileme calendar but then delete them almost immediately. Even opening the appointment (made on iphone/mobileme ) in Outlook while it was still visible and clicking save and close did not work. Like other users I got the message that a data file had not closed properly but I had got that occasionally from Outlook before iphone 3g or mobileme were used with the laptop. A strange thing is that appointments made in Outlook are synced with iphone and mobileme calendar. At the moment it seems that Outlook isn't happy receiving data in the form it gets it from mobileme but will send it happily and effectively. Being generally suspicious I look warily at Redmond (I can remember the non fatal error message in DOS). But the balance would seem to say that this is an Apple issue: it needs swift and decisive resolution.

An update: did the scanpst routine. It only reported minor errors. Repaired anyway. Problem persists but I noticed a new twist. While the appointment made on the iphone disappears from Outlook shortly after appearing following sync, the appointment is visible in the TO Do Bar for longer. Once Outlook is shut down and restarted it also disappears from there.
If this issue could be resolved my needs of calendar management would be met. As it stands the Mobileme is usable but does necessitate updating Outlook manually. I suppose I could abandon Outlook. Maybe the guys in infinity loop are getting even with Redmond?

Multiple folders created by iCloud and MobileMe in Outlook

iCloud and MobileMe have created a slew of calendar and contact folders in my Outlook. Several problems were created.
The default calendar and contact list are not the ones opened when Outlook launches. I have to manually select the iCloud folder in each. The iCloud contact list is identical to the one that used to be my personal folder contact list (this is good). The default file folder in Outlook is still the personal (no contacts shown), but I get some scary warning from Outlook if I try to change it to iCloud.
The personal folder on my computer (even though it exists) shows NO contacts and no calendar entries. It should show several thousand contacts and be identical to my iCloud contact list (at least starting off).
Outlook will not let me delete the MobileMe generated calendars or contact lists. The delete option is grayed out. In most cases I cannot even open the calendars that MobileMe created. I get a “The set of folders cannot beopened. The information store cannot be opened”.
Any ideas?

The problem is...I can find each individual folder by using "show in finder"...but I can't find where they all are! I think they may be the thumbnails from iCloud Photos??

IPhoto Albums and MobileMe Albums - Synchronization (Sync)

I am very interested in how the iPhoto and MobileMe operate together.
I like that if I publish an album to MobileMe, those photos are then kept in sync with that MobileMe album and vice versa. If a change is made to the photo in iPhoto, the same change takes place in MobileMe. If a change is made in MobileMe, that change is pushed to the copy in iPhoto. I like this!
But here is something I would like that I am having trouble accomplishing.
I want to create an iPhoto album (smart or otherwise) and publish it to MobileMe. I would then like any photos ADDED to that album to also be published the same MobileMe album. Can this be done?
Ideally, any photos also posted directly to the MobileMe album would be pushed back to the iPhoto album as well.

No. Instead of adding the photo to the album just drag it into the MMe gallery and it will update the online gallery.

Syncing with iCloud AND MobileMe

I have 3 Macs, all of them sync to the same MobileMe account. Only one is running Lion (for now). If I move to iCloud on one of my mac, will that mean I will no lover be able to sync to the 2 macs running MobileMe?

I have the same problem. My MacPro isn't on Lion, as I have lots of software that isn't compatible yet. But I have 10.7.2. on my MacBookPro and iOS5 on my iPhone and iPad.
I would like to go to iCloud for those devices that are capable to run it, but I do not want to loose sync services for my MacPro which is on 10.6.8. Will iCloud and MobileMe be in sync until 30.06.2012, so I can use them in parallel, or do I have to wait until all computers are updated to Lion?

Aperture 3 and MobileMe are now solved?

I am still on with Aperture 2.1.4 and have just had trouble with creating a new MobileMe gallery again, as Aperture remarks after it has uploaded the previews and made the gallery - til there is all fine - it could not communicate with MobileMe. This comes further if I like to made some changes to the gallery within Aperture and try to sync them - nothing happens, only the error comes up. This bug is til I upgraded my system to SL and Aperture 2.1.4. Any idea? Does Aperture 3 still has this bug or is it solved?

No I have not seen this kind of problem, and no you shouldn't need unique passwords for each album.
I have specific groups that I regularly share sets of albums with. When I create a new MobileMe album, I specify which group has access (or limit the access later via the Aperture-MobileMe album settings). I established the group name (and password) once. For subsequent albums I just specify that group. If I use the Tell A Friend... option to announce a new album, it will share the group/username and password.
IF I enable uploading additional photos via e-mail, that does create a unique/generic e-mail address for each album -- has to as you want any photos to upload to THAT album.
I know this answers your question, but quite likely does not provide a solution. If you can be more specific as to EXACTLY what steps you are taking I might be able to replicate your process and offer a specific solution. Hopefully the pieces I've offered may help you find a solution though?

Faces / Places and Mobileme Gallery question

Hi all, i could not find much on this but my question is when using faces / places and Mobileme gallery does this actually take up hard drive space ? With faces and places does that actaully create another image or is it just linked to your main library ? And for Mobileme Gallary does that actually download the images to your Mac ?
