Gallery Bug in N80 v5 firmware?

Since i have the new V5 Firmware installed on my N80 it wont randomly display all the images that are on the storage card. All i will see then are the two Links in the gallery. The only solution to this problem is to restart the phone. Then it will display all images again.
I never experienced this problem with the predecessors of the v5 firmware and it really annoys me a lot.
Anybody else having these problems with the v5 n80 gallery?

I have had V5 on my N80 a year or more now and there is definitely no reduction in battery life.
Make sure that things you don't normally use like 3G, bluetooth and wlan scanning is switched off. If this doesn't work then try resetting and failing that, reinstall V5.

  • Possible bug on n80 v4 firmware?

Has anyone else noticed that if change the time settings in the clock from operator to manual or vice/versa it disconnects you from the network - only way to get it back onto network is to switch phone off and on again.

This bug does not occur for me. My operatore is T-Mobile in the UK. UK unbranded N80 on standard generic V4 firmware.

  • N80 Gallery Bug introduced in firmare 5.0719.0.2

In case you guys from Nokia didnt notice it yet ...
There was a new bug introduced into the Gallery application of the Nokia N80 with Firmware 5.0719.0.2.
    The bug looks as following:
If you open the Picture Gallery there simply wont be any pictures or videos shown (from both internal memory and memory card). All one can see are the two weblinks in the gallery.
Only thing that help to bring the Gallery back to normal condition is to reboot the phone.
Several people who have upgraded to 5.0719.0.2 have this problem. And it definitely was not there before in any other Firmware Version 3.x or 4.x.
Is Nokia already aware of this bug and will fix it in a future firmware release? It really annoys me a lot. So much that i already think of buying a new phone from another manufacturer.
Besides ... Why doesnt Nokia release the 5.0725.0.1 firmware for European N80s? Maybe the bug is already corrected in this newer firmware...

    Hey
To tell the truth this is one of the most common most annoying and of course older bug from N73, N80, N91.
Later nokia introduced new gallery in N93, N93i and N91 8GB.

  • N80 new firmware release date and wishlist

It has been no update on firmware since the latest release V.5.0719.0.2 for N80 since 24 May 2007. With so many models rolling out and firmware revision released for other new and old models, one might wonder if N80 is being forgotten and the firmware revision is put on-hold forever in cold storage?!
There has been so much discussion on the expectation for last firmware release but what we get is only product stability without signficant boost of functionality and performance. I believe this has made many proud owner of N80 phone waiting with a long neck.
After reading through the forum, I have summarised some of the common expectation on the next release (hopefully) in a wishlist below. All is welcome to provide input on the improvement they expect in next firmware release. It is also hope that any status of firmware upgrade for N80 news to be shared here.
    The N80 new firmware wishlist
    i) AD2P bluetooth profile support
ii) Nokia Maps application support (currently, N80 is not support model for Nokia Maps application)
iii)Enhanced digital music player (similar with N73 ME with album art browsing)
iv) Music file IDD tag editing (change artist, song title, genre information)
    v) Video ringtone
    vi) Skype VOIP support
vii)Mymobilesite.net intergration for seamless moblogging interface
viii)Auto birthday reminder storing from Contact entry
Thats all I can think of for now.

    Hi Jacob,
Thanks for your quick response but if you go to the download section of Nokia Maps, N80 is not listed for selection on Nokia Maps setup file download. It is obvious that the compability page does show N80 is supported but which setup version to choose? I myself have Nokia Maps installed previously. But I believe there are new feature and interface in the latest version of Nokia Maps.
Yes, mymobilesite.net is available for N80, but perhaps the new firmware can include it in the new firmware release to save other the hassle to install
    something to add:
ix) HSDPA mobile internet surfing speed (3.5G?)

    It's so bad firmware version!
I have lots of problems with new firmware version 4.0707.0.7 that I haven't with past version 4.0623.0.42 !
I can't understand what's going on with NOKIA Software Updater!

    >Captured photos don't show in "Images & Video" until I restart my N80
    >For each new files you add, you need to restart your N80 until your N80 find them in memory!!!

  • Bugs in Nokia ME firmware v3.0705.1.0.31

I've found some bugs on firmware v3.0705.1.0.31 RM-133 for the N73 Music Edition, thought they are worth mentioning for possible resolution in the next revision for the ME:
If you have auto-redial turned on which doesn't actually work, instead when dialling a number if the network gives a recorded message or the number is busy (network busy tone), the phone doesn't allow you to hang up by pressing the end key. In the UK, my operator's announcements and busy/error tones time out but whilst over on holiday in Norway and roaming on NetCom, I had to reboot the phone to end the recorded message!
Another issue is with the Bluetooth, when using the phone in Bluetooth mode through the CK-7W car kit. The phone doesn't drop the car radio mute when ending the call, resulting in your car radio remaining silent or in 'call' mode.
I've also found is that when the phone is in the car connected to the CK-7W via the pop-port and the screen is lit, if someone calls and they end the call, then the lights go out! Pressing any button on the phone will re-activate the backlight and it will then stay on continously again. If you end the call by pressing 'end' before they hang up, then this is not a problem and the backlight stays on.
Something else I've noticed on the N73 versus the 6680 I used to have is that the sound quality of calls through the pop-port on the car kit does not sound anywhere near as good as you'd expect from other Nokia's like the N70 or N80 etc. Music from the player sounds fine, it's just the call quality that sounds very shrill and tinny.
    Cheers
    Neil.

  • Should I upgrade my N80's firmware?

    Hello
I've finally remembered to check for a firmware upgrade for my N80 - I still have the original firmware from when I bought the phone 2 years ago. I am a bit nervous about updating as I've finally got the phone doing what I want it to do (after having loads of problems syncing etc).
I'm just wondering if it is worth my while to upgrade and what would be the pros and cons etc.
Are there any improvements to the camera operations?
Am I going to have problems syncing again?
Am I going to have problems accessing wifi at home?
    Thanks!

I have upgraded the firmware to the latest version. Apart from bug fixes and Wlan scanning I don't think there is any other additions. I must say the latest V5 is very stable. I don't think my phone has crashed since the update.
If you are happy with your phone the way it is then there isn't really any need to update.
Should you decide to update, make sure you backup everything. You may have problems restoring phone specific backups so I suggest backing up all the various categories separately thus giving you the option to restore each component separately as well.

  • N97 Photo Gallery Bug

Hey all. I've found yet another issue with the N97's software, and I'm looking to see if anybody else has had this come up with theirs as well, if anybody has their N97 anymore.
It seems that for some stupid reason, whether it be from constantly connecting to my computer via USB Mass Memory mode, the photo's that I have taken with the N97 camera stopped showing up in the "Captured" list of photos. I used to have 100+ in that list. Then I had 35, and now I only have 15. All the rest of them are showing up in the "Downloads" photo list.
This of course is in addition to all the other shennanigans that I have to deal with in terms of the photo gallery in general. You know, how photo's don't show up clearly when zoomed in on, or how you'll get kicked out to the homescreen while trying to zoom in sometimes or how the phone will fake like you're going to the homescreen all of a sudden and then bam, it's back to showing you your zoomed into photo.
Just wanted to see if anybody else was experiencing the captured photo's bug.

I FOUND A GOOD SOLUTION BY USING THE NEW VERSION OF NOKIA PHOTO BROWSER ! IT WORKS GREAT AND BETTER THAN THE INCLUDED ONE WHICH HAVING SOME BUGS AND RESLUTION PROBLEMS !

  • Photoshop CS3 web gallery bugs(?); vanishing metadata, bad sort order

Running OS 1.5.4 on 24" Imac, I'm attempting to generate a "horizontal slideshow" from bridge-selected files in Photoshop CS3.
[Sounded like the problem in this post: http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b5a9fe/2 but on re-reading I've decided it's different so I'm giving it it's own thread, with more detail...]
    Here's my experience:
    1) Description and title show up for a second on the first slide, then revert to just the blank template on that and all subsequent slides (title: [blank] description: [blank]....
Hitting "refresh" produces the descriptive metadata for a tantalizing moment, then it' s back to the blank template for this and all subsequent slides. It does this both for Safari and Firefox.
You can view this behavior in a slideshow at http://oasisdesign.net/projects/earthtoilet/
If it asks for a password, use---
    user:earthling
    pass: draf1 )
    "preserve all metadata" is checked.
I've tried all combinations of checking/ unchecking "title, description, filename" for labeling...also, making slideshows with just one or two slides to reduce the chance that it's a weird character issue of the type some other folks have experienced...
    2) additionally, the web gallery is not respecting the manual sort order in Bridge, which is the source of the files. The help files say the slideshow should follow the manual sort order in Bridge.
    3) Finally, metadata entered in bridge metadata tab sometimes vanishes, sometimes metadata entered in file info wouldn't show in the metadata tab.
    Thanks for your help!!
    Art
BTW, here's the related issues I found:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b5a9fe/2
...After some investigation, I found that the descriptions were disappearing only for photos that had a Return / Line Break in the description. If you go back and make sure all of your descriptions are a single line, it works fine....
=Don't have line breaks, nor "and" nor &...
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3bff9de1/0
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3bd62ec3/0

OK...here's the hack I used to get around what I'm now totally convinced are program bugs and shortcomings relative to advertised functionality, for anyone else who has to deal with this, followed by my (suggested fixes to Adobe)...
    1) Sort everything the way you want in bridge.
    2) Make meta descriptions w/o weird characters (a warning here would be helpful)
    3) Use "batch rename," with "copy to another folder" to give the images totally plain vanilla, DOS-style file names (001.jpg, 002.jpg...). This solves most filename issues and the works around web gallery's failure to recognize bridge sort order in one go. Note that you can irrevocably screw up the names of all your original files if you're not very careful to COPY at this step.
([a] make the bridge sort work directly, as advertised, por favor. [b] add an error message or warning about file names such as 006-(2).jpg causing malfunction. A compassionate, low-effort short-term patch for Mac users of web gallery, especially since bridge generates that particular sort name itself invisibly and automatically if you move a file with the same name into a folder)
    4) Use "white on black" instead of bug-ridden "horizontal slideshow" (horizontal slideshow should be fixed or deleted from the next version...multiple slideshow options would be awesome, as they advance automatically at the max rate the user's bandwidth allows, a very attractive feature)
    5) Restrict all images to the same height so users can click *in the same spot* to advance the 200 images with less carpal tunnel (the advance arrow should *always* be in the same spot, for every web gallery, IMHO)
Web galleries are a fantastic tool for sharing information easily...I hope to see some evolution in those great automatic updates someday...

  • N80 v5 firmware and dire battery life

Updated to the v5 firmware for the N80 (5.0719.0.2) and apart from the annoying loud warning tones, the biggest problem I have with this is the extremely short battery life now.
Charged last night, left on standby for maybe 10 hours, and the thing is flat in the morning!
I doubt the battery has suddenly died. Before updating to v5, the phone would last several days on standby.
I can't see that it is connecting to any access points during the night. Bluetooth is off. WLAN scanning is off.
I know the N80 is old now, but anyone found a solution to this or have some tips?
Only other thing I can think of doing is a total reset of phone and media memory, and reinstall everything from scratch.
    E72-1 UK CV 052.005

I have had V5 on my N80 a year or more now and there is definitely no reduction in battery life.
Make sure that things you don't normally use like 3G, bluetooth and wlan scanning is switched off. If this doesn't work then try resetting and failing that, reinstall V5.

  • N80 Latest Firmware

    I have a UK N80 on a voda contract
    V3.0617.0.6
    03-05-2006
    RM-92
    (42.02)
I have read the forums on here about the different variants and I've been to carphone warehouse for an upgrade, but so far no joy. CPW told me that I had the latest firmware as does the nokia software updater.
Where can I find out when this firmware will be available? Should I just keep checking the software updater or is there someone who will know?
    Thanks
    BB

I'm afraid your correct, you'll just have to keep trying everyweek with NSU or checking back here to see if another user gets there first. Nokia are releasing new operator versions all the time, last week it was Orange and 3 so yours can't be far behind.

  • Bug in Macbook Pro firmware (2009 mid)

    Dear all,
Recently, I bought a new Macbook Pro (2009 mid model). I found that there was a problem in illuminated keyboard. Logically, the backlight of keyboard should be darker if the light source of surrounding environment is strong. However, it is totally opposite!! The backlight of the keyboard will turn dark if the light source is weak!! I guess it should be the bug in firmware.

    Fatpandapanda wrote:
Logically, the backlight of keyboard should be darker if the light source of surrounding environment is strong.
I don't think that's true. In bright light, the keyboard backlight is off. When the light sensor detects that ambient is below a certain lux value, the keyboard backlight is activated. When the ambient light is +just below+ that value, there is still a fair amount of light in the room - in that case, the keyboard backlight needs to be relatively brighter to be effective. When the room is pitch black, the keyboard backlight should be relatively dimmer, since less brightness is required to see the keys if there is almost no ambient light. The same is true for the display - the brighter the ambient light, the brighter your display needs to be.
What should happen, for example if you're in a brightly lit room with a dimmer switch - with room light at full brightness, the keyboard backlight is off. As you dim the lights, at some point the keyboard backlight will come on, and be at it's brightest (or as bright as you have the setting). As you continue dimming the room light, the keyboard backlight also gets dimmer. When the room light is all the way off, the keyboard backlight is at its lowest brightness.
However, if what's happening is that in bright room light the keyboard backlight is still active, that is a bug (if everyone with your configuration is experiencing it), or a glitch (try a PRAM reset), or a hardware problem with your machine (call AppleCare).

  • DMF bug on Alpha7 with firmware 2.0

Hi folks, I noticed something buggy about DMF with the 2.0 firmware update on my Alpha7.The problem is identidical with 2 different FE lenses (28-70 and Zeiss 55). My setup: I shot on DMF mode, magnification time = 2sec.So, the scenario is:- I press half-course => AF is applied- then I turn the focus ring => camera switches to zoom mode- then I stop turning the focus ring and... i get back to the normal (dezoom) view within a random time, varying between 2 sec to infinity. I checked that this behavior is reproducible on other alpha7 cameras. This bug is hugely annoying to me, because I mostly shot with DMF. Does anyone know how i could downgrade the firmware to an older one (1.20 for instance) ?Update software doesn't seem to propose such possibility... Thanks in advance for your help!Cwati

    Hi Cwati,
    Welcome to the Sony Community!
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We will forward your post to the engineering department for further investigation.
As for the firmaware downgrade, or going back to the version 1.20, that won't be possible. Once you update the firmware of your camera, you can't revert to the older version.
If my post answers your question, please mark it as "Accept as Solution". Thanks_Mitch

  • New bugs in Nokia 6680 Firmware version 5.04.07 (1...

I've recently upgraded the firmware in my 6680 via my PC to the latest Nokia firmware (was originally running 4.04.07) and since doing this I've spotted two possible bugs.
The first is in the call log whereby the phone stops adding called numbers to the dialled, missed and received logs. Closing and re-opening the call log application on the phone doesn't clear this problem. When the phone is power-cycled (i.e. rebooted) the previous dialled calls re appear in the log. So far I've only spotted this problem once on Saturday, since I upgraded the software the previous Friday morning.
The second bug is a bit more frustrating whereby the phone appears to stop responding to voice commands. I use my phone a lot when driving with the CK-7W car kit, both in Bluetooth and wired mode depending how far I'm going. Twice now when I've pressed the remote button to activate voice dialling I've instantly got an error tone despite all the voice tags present on numbers stored in the phone. Again, power-cycling the phone seems to clear the problem.
    Neil.

Further to my previous post on this, it appears that with the new firmware v5.04.07 my voice activated dialling stops working completely after a period of time when the phone has been turned on. If I reboot the phone the voice dialling and commands will work initially (using the Nokia remote button on the CK-7W), however after 3 or 4 hours of the phone being on it stops responding.
The problem manifests itself when I've been at work all day and the phone has been out of my car and left turned on. Later in the day when I travel back in my car and try to use voice activated dialling, I find it stops working and just gives me an error tone. I never had this problem with v4.04.07 installed on my phone and I find it quite frustrating as I can't even answer the phone remotely when it rings in the car!
I presume people from Nokia read these forums, please could you get your software engineers to look in to this for us as otherwise I'll have to take the phone back under warranty to an NSC and see if there's anyway the firmware can be rolled back to v4.04.07.
    Neil.
PS: Apart from this problem, v5.04.07 is a much better software release and my phone and it's features in general work much better. I also like the way when pressing 'send' on the phone, it now doesn't mute my car radio until the call has successfully established on the network and starts ringing etc.
