Gallery Captions

Hi all,
I was wondering if there is a way to add a caption or change photo titles for pictures that appear in MobileMe galleries, while leaving the original title unchanged in Aperture?
For example, all my pictures taken in Tanzania are numbered in Aperture (i.e, Tanazania 1 of 949 or 200 of 949, etc.) and I like it that way. However, when I post the pics to a MobileMe gallery I'm stuck with that same "Photo title" (Tanzania 200 of 949) and would instead like it to read "Out on Safari" or whatever.
I know that I can just change the title in Aperture, however then I have all my photos numbered 'cept for the occasional "Out on Safari" (or some other "viewer friendly" title).
When I view my photos in Aperture I like 'em numbered. But when I post 'em to MobileMe, I'd like to customize the title, while keeping the same number-title system in Aperture. Is this possible? Is there a work around? Am I missing something (more than likely)?
Here's an example of what I'm talking about:

Thanks very much in advance for any help or advice

Julian:
Others have had that problem also. A work around is to use this script to write the comments to the Title. The title is displayed in the web galleries. When you want the file names back just use the "Photos->Batch Change->Title to File Name" menu option.
NOTE: Before compiling the script in Script Editor remove the one occurrence of the character Å in the script.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How to add Web Gallery captions in Bridge CS5

    I am creating a photo album (web gallery) in Bridge CS5 but there doesn't seem to be a way to add captions to the photos. I don't want the File Names to appear, I want to be able to choose several photos to have captions which I will type in. Is there a way to do this? The web gallery template I am using is Left Filmstrip.
    Thanks!

    Will the Airtight template let you put in a separate caption for EACH photo, or just one caption that goes on every single slide?
    What third party software would let me add captions...I need something fairly easy to use.
    Thanks!

    Love web gallery - spend time typing in all the captions to inform family and friends, wait for the upload, watch all the "pending" signs disappear, and then see the captions disappear once it's on the Gallery site.
    Any ideas?
    What am I doing wrong?
    Do I need to speak to my machine nicely?

  • CSS Center gallery caption & add max size

    I'm working on revamping my horrible webpage (if you want a laugh look at the home page code). It was the best I could cobble together 5 years ago. But I've been taking tutorials. etc... And getting better at css. So I want to start fresh.
    On my new site, I'm going to add a jquery photo gallery for my portfolio. I was able to fine-tune much of the css. But am stymied on a few things. I've uploaded a sample.
    http://jamison-design.com/files/NivoSlider/slider.html
    I put notes in the CSS (***NOTE) on the particular issues, but will also mention here.
    1. The caption title on first image is not quite centered. Tried all kinds of things with margins, padding, position. But couldn't figure out the issue.
    2. I like how the image scales when you resize the browser window. BUT, I want to delcare a max height, so the image doesn't get larger than warrants, to keep the resolution good. Again, tried but failed to see what controls that.
    3. Would like to move the previous/forward buttons a set % away from the images. So, if it is a wide image the buttons will be the same distance from the left/right edge as if it is a less wide image. No idea where to even start with that.
    Bonus Question (;-)
    Finally, what controls where the bottom nav buttons are located. I might want to move down a bit...
    Thanks so much in advance. Happy New Year!

    I still can't see prev/next buttons.  Maybe because of your coding errors.  You've got HTML5 code in an XHTML doc.  For best results, use HTML5 doc type with HTML5 code.
    Go to  Modify > Properties > Title/Encoding >  DTD: HTML5.  It should look like this:
    <!doctype html>
    <html lang="en">
    <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>Nivo Slider Demo</title>
    <!--These <script> tags must be inside your document's <head> tags-->
    <script>var __adobewebfontsappname__="dreamweaver"</script>
    <script src="http://use.edgefonts.net/gruppo:n4:default.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="themes/default/default.css" type="text/css" media="screen" />
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="nivo-slider.css" type="text/css" media="screen" />
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" type="text/css" media="screen" />
    </head>
    I said this before but I think it deserves repeating.  Slider images need to be the same size and ratio. Even if the background color is white, to maintain integrity of the slider, all images must be the same size.
    Best of luck with your project!
    Happy New Year!

  • Web Gallery Captions

    Using the Bridge CS4, in Windows XP,
    what is the simplest and fastest way to include a caption or a title or the filename for each of the pictures of a web gallery when it is displayed on the browser?
    Thanks

    Unless you are able to modify the Code, do what I did and go for one of the many free gallery generators which are much more adaptable than Adobe's rather limited options.
    I use Web Album Generator – http://www.ornj.net/webalbum/

  • Gallery caption custom settings - adding blank spaces?

    When using  the custom settings in the Caption option within the Gallery Module I would like to add blank spaces between options but can't find a way to do it. I prefer not to use dashs or other characters for separators. Ie: <filename> blank space/s <custom text>.  Even with custom text, only only blank space is accepted no matter how many you put in. Can this be done?

    I'm not too familiar with the web module, but if you want there to be a series of spaces, you have to use a series of non-breaking space entities, all in a row. If you are doing that, it appears that the interface or the processing is removing them. You might be forced to hacking the template. I hear they are just HTML files renamed to something else and stashed somewhere in the Lr install directory.
    If you do end up hacking your own template, you might want to style the divs and spans you are using, as that will be more robust.

  • Styling Spry Gallery Captions Within Photos.xml

    My Spry gallery is working just fine other than I'd like to use italics within some of my image captions. I noticed this line of code in photos.xml.
    <italics font = "georgia"> </italics>
    I'm wondering if this alludes to the fact that I should be able to use italics selectively without writing any XSLT (I'm not very experienced in that department).
    Any advice appreciated.

    Hi Flat Top,
    perhaps, you need a program that understands the structure of

    $thumb = [String]::Concat("Thumbs\", $_.name)
    perl exiftool.pl -c "%d deg %.4f min" -p FmtImage.txt $image
    | Out-File xml.xml -append
    perl exiftool.pl -c "%d deg %.4f min" -p FmtThumb.txt $thumb
    | Out-File xml.xml -append
    with FmtImage.txt:
    <photo
    path = "$FileName"
    width = "$ImageWidth"
    height = "$ImageHeight"
    Kommentar = "$Comment"
    GPSLatitude = "$GPSLatitude, $GPSLatitudeRef"
    GPSLongitude = "$GPSLongitude, $GPSLongitudeRef"
    GPSPosition = "$GPSPosition"
    Hersteller = "$Make"
    Modell = "$Model"
    ISOSpeedRatings = "$ISO"
    Date_TimeOriginal ="$DateTimeOriginal"
    F_Number = "$FNumber"
    ExposureTime = "$ExposureTime"
    FocalLength ="$FocalLength"

    and FmtThumb.txt:
    thumbpath = "$FileName"

  • Web Gallery captioning

    When I try and select from the Metadata Set drop down menu, Caption and Keywords, I get the Name, Caption and Keyword.
    Is this a bug? or am i doing something stupid. I Only want the caption and keyword to appear.

    Scott:
    When published to a web gallery that information is not added to the file but to the slideshow files. The only time that info is written to the files is upon export with the checkbox selected to add Title and Keywords and Comments.
    Even if the metadata is written to the files at the time they are imported into iPhoto, the files that get uploaded to the iDisk have that metadata stripped out of the file.

  • How to insert "+" in image gallery caption

    Hi,
    I hope you can help. I created an Image Gallery in
    Dreamweaver 8. I also added captions, however, some of my captions
    require the "+" sign and I can't get it to show up in the captions.
    I tried editing the code using &#43; and everything else known

    Thanks.

    The captions are embedded in the Flash Gallery? You would
    have to ask this
    in a Flash forum.

  • I need to change the gallery captions.... How?

    I am working on a presentation of artworks. I have three albums, "Collages," "Mountain Series," "Additional Paintings." In the gallery, these are displayed with the subtitles, "35 photos" etc. How can I change "photos" to "artworks"?

    the image count is part of iweb language localization, so the easiest way is to change them with a few lines of javascript... but I no longer post code here, so you are on your own.
    the alternative is to modify the albums_page.js file and change these localization strings, in your case are these two files:
    http://www.lindadurkeeart.com/LindaDurkeeArt/LindaDurkee_Art/Linda_Durkee_Art_files/Linda_DurkeeArt.js
    http://www.yourstrategy.org/Campaigns/CampaignLibrary/Our_Posters/Our_Posters_files/OurPosters.js
    search for: IWCreateMediaCollection
    in the same line, you need to change words photo inside the square brackets [ ] to your own word.
    note: you will have to do this every time you publish entire site, because iweb over these js files.

  • IBooks Author: How do you get the inset margins applied to the caption text of gallery widgets to preview correctly on an iPad?

    Currently the inset margins I set for caption text in the gallery widget resets to zero when previewed on different iPads. These are galleries with different images and the captions are set to “individual caption per image” in the interaction panel.
    BUT the inset margins will preview correctly if the gallery caption is set to “same caption for all images” in the widget interactions panel. How does one go about fixing this in iBooks Author? Would love to hear others advice or suggestions or work arounds. Thanks!

    I found this article that shows the folder we are looking for is here --
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.iBooksX/Data/Documents/AEAnnotation/
    per http://mjtsai.com/blog/2013/11/06/the-problem-with-ibooks/ and http://computers.tutsplus.com/tutorials/beyond-highlighting-how-to-get-the-most- from-your-annotations--cms-20013
    So I opened the files in TextWrangler to search for a word I know I highlighted in a particular book.  That helped me identify the correct file for the book I am concerned with.  I did a Time Machine restore of the file and got my notes back the way they were.

    The arrows don't show up on the iPad, they are only to aid navigation within iBA. You can use boxes in the background to frame your galleries (as the background is off). I believe it's also possible to change the colour of the dots beneath the gallery too, although I forget how to do that right now.
    About Apple's rigid UX – I agree that it can be frustrating. Apple intended iBA to be used by everyone, and the sort of design options and customisability we might want may confuse the less experienced user. Apple also wanted the UI for every book to be the same – from the point of view of the new user, once you've used one iBA ebook (or iBook, I'm not sure what Apple want us to call it), you can use them all. Otherwise end users would to get used to a slightly different UI on each book, which kind of works against the idea that ideally UI should be intuitive enough to be invisible. I can see the point in that. I have created a 'How to use' section in every iBA file I've made. It get's old quickly.
    Oh, and (you probably know this, but…) you can choose your own custom icon for audio. It's limited, as it's only a placeholder image that allows you to play an audio file, there's no ability to pause the audio or stop it once you choose the view as thumbnail choice. Something I'd like to see changed.
    Here's a link to Apple feedback page for iBA. Feel free to hammer it with your suggestions.

  • Text Caption - Different Color

    Hi There,
    I have looked through the posts and have not found a question
    like this, but that may be because folks already know they can't do
    it.
    The question is can I set an existing text caption - like
    Adobe Blue to have a different background color? I like the
    captions themselves, but just want to change colors. Is that
    possible?
    If not how would I make my own custom text caption?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi julie88
    Creating or changing Text Captions is pretty straightforward
    if you have basic image editing skills. All the text captions exist
    as simple bitmap images that are found in the following location:
    Captivate 1: C:\Program
    Files\Macromedia\Captivate\Gallery\Captions
    Captivate 2: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate
    2\Gallery\Captions
    Captivate 3: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate
    3\Gallery\Captions and...
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate
    3\Gallery\Captions\More
    All of them exist as different bmp files. In addition to the
    .BMP files, you will find an associated FlashCam Margins file.
    These end in .FCM. These files control the margins that surround
    any text.
    Hopefully this helps... Rick

  • Text Caption Types

    Does anyone know of any way I can change the Text Caption
    Types to a type used with Captivate 2? I really like the yellow two
    options that I used in my previous demos and this is not an option
    in Captiate 3. If I add to a previous demo- I have to individually
    update text caption to maintain the same look and feel.
    Thanks

    Hi julesfischy
    Sorry that wasn't helpful. Here's the deal. When Adobe
    created Captivate 3, they relocated some of the older captions to a
    folder named "More". So they are still there if you know where to
    look. If you want your older types to automatically appear in the
    list to choose from, you may locate them behind the scenes and copy
    them from the "More" folder to where Captivate will find them. The
    normal location is below:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 3\Gallery\Captions
    Or... if it's just a one time shot, you may choose instead to
    simply choose the type by clicking the Caption Type drop-down,
    scrolling to the bottom where it says <Custom>, and when you
    click <Custom> a dialog opens with the More folder visible.
    Hopefully you will find this more helpful.
    Sincerely... Rick

    If you change the button size of custom buttons with Photoshop and replace the files in your Gallery folder, how to you get rid of the old buttons in Captivate's properties window?
