Gallery confusion

I have a strange problem when trying to update a gallery.
I first created a gallery which then uploaded fine but once visitors had loaded there photos onto my page, and I d/l them into my library things went haywire.
The gallery disappeared within iPhoto but remained on the web for all to view.
When I then published the gallery again with the exact name, a duplicate gallery appeared on the web but I cannot find a way to delete the original from the web - not I have two galleries with exactly the same name and content.
Also, the connection times to the web galleries for uploading and refreshing takes ages...whereas previously it was not bad with no failures in connection.
Please help!

When I then published the gallery again with the exact name, a duplicate gallery appeared on the web but I cannot find a way to delete the original from the web - not I have two galleries with exactly the same name and content.
you can always delete galleries (IF you can figure out which one it is) by going to your iDisk and dragging the offending one to the trash -- finder ==> iDisk ==> web ==> sites ==> _gallery ==>"offending gallery"
Good luck

  • Confused using Photo Gallery

:After trying windows 8, I decided to go back to my window 7.  My photo gallery is now a mess.  I have so many duplicate pictures that I am deleting and I just want to be sure that there is no limit of duplicate pictures that I can put in the recyle bin.  I know this sounds like a strange question but when I say I have a lot of duplicate pictures, I am talking a lot of pictures.
    2.  When I open my photo gallery I have a lot of pictures that have a strange number assigned to the picture...for example #C154429339.  Does this mean something... should I do something with them....just ignore or??
I hope someone can help me.  I have tried to find information about some of my problems, but I guess I don't explain myself well.
I thank you for any help that you can give me.

    Hi,
The Recycle bin does have a size limitation. Right mouse click on the Recyle bin and select properties.

  • Downloaded Web Gallery Photos ? (Confused)

I'm using iPhoto '06. When I subscribe to a friend's Web Gallery ( created with iPhoto '08) the photos are d/l'd into a smart folder in my source list. Two questions: 1. Why are the movies from his digital still camera not d/l'd as well into this folder ? 2. Once d/l'd into the smart folder, why can't I then move these photos into my Library ?
    Thanks,
    JJ

    Terence,
The problem is this: Once the particular web gallery is subscribed to using iPhoto '06, the pictures show up in a folder with the Photocast logo in MY source list. These photos are then not automatically added to the Source lists' Library, they only appear in the Photocast folder. I cannot select all and then drag and drop these photos into my Library. My question is why ?
For example: Should the owner of the gallery decide to delete the gallery, I no longer have those photos as the Photocast folder will disappear and I have never had the ability to put them in my Library.
(All permisssions have been granted by the creator), that's not the problem.

  • How do I add second MobileMe Gallery to iPhoto

Hello Friends. On the left side of the iPhoto window I have all my albums, keepsakes, facebook pics, and my mobileme galleries. Now, that works great for me, but my wife can't use her mobileme with iPhoto (or we just haven't figured it out. Is there a way to add a second gallery to iPhoto? I have iPhoto 8.1.2 and I'm using a macbook pro os 10.6.3. Thank you everyone in advance.

    Hello MacJersey,
If I understand you correctly your wife has her own MobileMe email address (aka MobileMe account) and she wants to publish galleries from iPhoto?
If that is the case you would want to create a new user account (Creating a new user account) for your wife to use. She can then have her own iPhoto Library with her own pictures and publish to her own Mobile Me account.
(Publishing to more than one MobileMe member name from the same computer user account can get very confusing and I do not recommend it.)
As an alternative she can login to the www.me.com website with her MobileMe member name and upload pictures to her gallery from there.
    Hope that helps

  • How can I link to a picture gallery?

I have a simple 3 cell table layout with header, navigation, and content cells. All my pages are built from this layout template. So far, all the navigation to my pages works, everything opening in my content frame.
One page presents a problem. It is a page which has 2 cells, a navigation and a content cell of its own. My proposal is to make this page my painting gallery. I would like to have THIS page navigation cell (with thumbnails of my paintings) open a new window within ITS OWN content cell. When I browse the page and hit this thumbnail navigation cell, the content cell opens as I  happily expect including the contents I expect. But, I lose the  thumbnail navigation cell. So I have no way of returning to my thumbnail cell navigation. Where did the navigation cell go?
What I am trying to do, is seems to me, is open a table page within a table page. I am working in DW 4, and am  attempting to "dump" my former "frames" approach which I have been advised is not a good approach and which also gave me this same unhappy result. I have tried all the various "target" options, but so far I have not gotten the result I'm after.
Thank you in advance for any help which you can offer.
    Clyde Semler

    Hiya, Clyde,
Good to hear that you're dropping the frames. Old technology, etc. etc.
If you wanted the images to open one at a time, you could use a Lightbox. Lightbox brings the image up in the middle of your page "on top", with a greyed out background. You can go forward and backward on controls that are right in Lightbox. Someone on the Forum suggested it in a response, and I went out to play around with it. It works pretty well, is a little confusing to set up (few instructions, but sufficient...) to my way of thinking. It's a free extension that you can install in DWCS4. Here's where you can get it: http://www.fourlevel.com/dreamweaver/extensions/lightbox/index.htm
Have you considered using a Spry Data Set? Here's a simple one I set up for a friend:

  • Need Help/Advice with Photo Web Gallery coming from SQL Database

This is my first attempt at a database driven website. I assume what I am trying to accomplish should be fairly easy for more experienced but I am stuck at this point.
First, let me explain what I am trying to accomplish.
I want to create a thumbnail photo gallery displayed in columns and rows. I want to be able to hover over or click on the thumbnail image and have a lightbox script display the image over the thumb page. I am developing locally right now with intent to upload to the hosting site upon completion.
I am developing with ASP vbScript pages. I have an SQL database where the paths to the image thumbnails and pictures are stored in a table. On the gallery page, I have created a div tag to hold my image recordset. Within this div, I have inserted 3 absolute positioned divs to hold the pictureID, the pictureName and the image inserted as a datasource. I then inserted the information from the bindings panel of my recordset. Last, I used a horizontal looper extension from Tom Muck to get the thumbnails to display in columns and rows. Everything works up to this point just fine.
Now, I want to be able to hover or click on a thumnail image and have it displayed in a lightbox. I downloaded and used a javascript called Lightbox 2 which contains 3 javascript files and a css stylesheet. I inserted the files into the head tag like instructed to but could not get things to work properly. Here is where I need help. Currently, I am clicking on the thumbImage binding within the image Div and creating a link holder. I am then binding the larger pictureImage to it with the a.href selected in the bind to. I am then adding the command to call the lightbox javascript. Now, when I test my page, my thumbnail images do not show up (my alt text does in its place) but the links are in place and you can click on the alt text and it will return the correct larger image, but not in the lightbox, just in a new window with no styles.
Am I going about this correctly? Can you use lightbox scripts with data-driven galleries? Does anybody have any suggestions of what I may be doing wrong or missing? Are there better ways to go about accomplishing this?
Any help would be appreciated as this dynamic data thing has my head spinning. Although I know a database is needed to simplify the update and maintenance of the photos while allowing them to be searchable by keywords and tags also set up in the database.
    Thanks

As I explained, I am developing locally a the moment. I will see about getting the databased moved up to the hosting server and then provide a link for an example.
In the mean time, can you or anyone else explain a way that you would go about displaying an image thumbnail photo gallery laid out in rows / columns, with any lighbox script that would overlay the larger image over the existing page instead of opening a new browser window?
I don't have to use the method I tried to describe.
In all of the lightbox examples I have looked at thus far, they give instructions on how to append that javascript to a single static image or a group of static images, not images from a datasource. That is where I am getting confused.
Don't know if this will help or not but please see code below:
Javascript and CSS positioned in head tag
<!--beginning of lightbox script with css -->
    <link href="CSS/lightbox.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />

  • IBooks Author: How do you get the inset margins applied to the caption text of gallery widgets to preview correctly?

Currently the inset margins I set for caption text in the gallery widget reset to zero when previewed on different iPads. These galleries have multiple images and the captions are set to "individual caption per image" on the widget interaction panel. BUT the inset margins preview correctly if the gallery caption is set to "same caption for all images" in the gallery widget interaction panel. How does one fix this in iBooks Author? Would appreciate any advice or work arounds or suggestions.
    Thanks!

The arrows don't show up on the iPad, they are only to aid navigation within iBA. You can use boxes in the background to frame your galleries (as the background is off). I believe it's also possible to change the colour of the dots beneath the gallery too, although I forget how to do that right now.
About Apple's rigid UX – I agree that it can be frustrating. Apple intended iBA to be used by everyone, and the sort of design options and customisability we might want may confuse the less experienced user. Apple also wanted the UI for every book to be the same – from the point of view of the new user, once you've used one iBA ebook (or iBook, I'm not sure what Apple want us to call it), you can use them all. Otherwise end users would to get used to a slightly different UI on each book, which kind of works against the idea that ideally UI should be intuitive enough to be invisible. I can see the point in that. I have created a 'How to use' section in every iBA file I've made. It get's old quickly.
Oh, and (you probably know this, but…) you can choose your own custom icon for audio. It's limited, as it's only a placeholder image that allows you to play an audio file, there's no ability to pause the audio or stop it once you choose the view as thumbnail choice. Something I'd like to see changed.
Here's a link to Apple feedback page for iBA. Feel free to hammer it with your suggestions.

  • New versions of customised buttons are not updating in the gallery

I have built a number of customised image buttons. I add the new versions into the buttons folder inside the gallery and delete the old versions but the new buttons do not appear and the old versions mysteriously are reinstated. If I upload an entirely new set with slightly different names it works but I do not want to have to upload entirely new button sets every time I make a small change to a single button state. If I keep doing this I am going to end up with huge numbers of versions redundant buttons which will become very confusing. Is there any way to refresh the gallery so that it accepts the changes without necessarily changing the name and uploading a complete button set? And why do the old buttons that have been deleted keep reappearing.
This is in Captivate version 7 on a stand alone computer.

Same issue here. I've tried replacing images in the gallery as well as deleting old versions and pasting in new versions. They still show up as the old versions when selecting from image buttons. I've even shut down Captivate and restarted, but not change. I know you can update images from the library, but I do not see any option like that from the Gallery Buttons folder.

  • Troubleshoot Main Image for spry photo gallery

Hello, I am modifying some spry files to see if I can get the
hang of it using my images. I have taken the photo gallery files
    gallery.js
    SpryData.js
    SpryEffects.js
    xpath.js
The folder structure contains images and thumbnails on the
root folder as well as the ap.css sheet and photos.xml
    The page is
    http://www.proximita.com/learning/index.html.
Since I only have 1 photo gallery (and I did the getting
started tutorial and worked fine I wanted to add the slideshow
effect in the spry demo functionality) I only have one xml doc and,
as mentioned, the both image folders and the css sheet are on the
root, and the all the js files are in an includes folder.
The thumbnails show up fine, but, the main image does not
show up at all. I am almost sure this is a bad reference somewhere
or a begginners mistake but I cant find it.
I did modify the gallery.js because it referenced 2 or three
variables (like dsPhotos and dsGalleries that are used for the demo
I only have dsGallery) and I cahnged all of the other refrences to
    dsGallery.
I think I am having problems here:
    function ShowCurrentImage()
    var curRow = dsPhotos.getCurrentRow();
    SetMainImage("galleries/" +
    dsGalleries.getCurrentRow()["@base"] + "images/" + curRow["@path"],
    curRow["@width"], curRow["@height"], "tn" + curRow["ds_RowID"]);
you can check out the whole code here:
    http://proximita.com/learning/includes/gallery.js
Im unconcerned with appearance for the moment, and would just
like to see the main image and the slideshow functionality.
If you can help, please do. Thanks, Mario.

yes, I suspect that is because the tutorial talks about
building this from scratch and uses that name for the "thumbnails"
div rather than what they actually use in the demo files...
    confusing, to say the least.
It would be nice if there were a simple document with demo
files that didn't include other stuff unrelated to JUST the slide
show (gallery)... and if the whole layout were more simple,
    css-layout-wise...
or, if the demo files were commented with what each bit is
for and how to modify it.

You need to open gallery.js and change the observer to point
    to the new container:

    Spry.Data.Region.addObserver("thumbnails", function(nType,

  • Can't load images for photo gallery

    Hi All,
This is my first stab at using Spry and I've run into a small
problem. I can't get my images to show up for the thumbs or the
large image. And when I read the article for this I only got more
    confused.
    quote:
Now you can make use of these new data points in the album.
Start by replacing the hard coded image folder paths to the values
    used in the XML file.
In the thumbnail 'src' path, remove the 'thumbnails/' and
replace it with the XML value. Make sure to remove the forward
slash since that is already stored in the XML value for the path.
Repeat for the main IMG tag. Remove the 'images/' from the
'src' field and replace it with the XML value.
Now you have to tell the dynamic region that you will be
using data from the new dataset. Add the data set name to the
spry:region attribute, separated by a space.
When it says "replace it with the XML value", how do I do
that? What XML value? Can someone give me an example? Do I spec out
the directories in the XML file or within the code on my
    gallery.html page?
    Here's my dir structure
    gallery.html
    -photo_gallery (dir)
    --photo.xml
    --gallery (dir)
    ---pic1.jpg
    ---pic2.jpg
    ---pic3.jpg etc.

    Hi Petron,
    Sorry for the confusion.
You can do either. It depends on how you structure your XML.
The most flexible way would to just have the image name in
the XML file. That will let you change your folder structure
without having to update the file.
    So your XML can say:
    <photos>
    <photo name="pic1.jpg" />
    <photo name="pic1.jpg" />
    </photos>
And your <img> tag can be:
    <img src="gallery/{@name}">
{@name} is the data reference for your data set which
    contains the image info.
But, if you have the full path in the XML:
    <photos>
    <photo name="gallery/pic1.jpg" />
then your img would be <img src="{@name}" />
Either way, the full path has to be built to the .jpg file.
The first way is probably better...
In my gallery tutorial, we start out with one gallery. But
later on, we expand it to use multiple galleries. We use one XML
file to tell use the image directory:
    <galleries>
    <gallery>china</gallery>
    <gallery>egypt</gallery>
Where we can use these values as folder names.
Let me know if this helps. I don't want to give too many
unnecessary details that might confuse the issue.
If you have a sample URL, we can accurately help you.
    Thanks,
    Don

  • Customizing Photoshop Web Gallery in Dreamweaver

HOW DO I STOP WIDTH OF IMAGE FROM STRETCHING? (height is in
    proportion)
    more details:
I've almost finished customizing a Photoshop web gallery in
Dreamweaver, which is completely confusing for me (i'm a novice)
and any head way i made in changing the template was mainly from
trial and error as it is very unclear in the instrutions on how to
    edit.
I finally have a template that is starting to look the way I
want with the thumbnails at the bottom in an iframe and with the
larger image above with arrows on either side. I edited it so the
only thing that's changed in size on the image is the Height so the
    width can change automatically.
When the practice gallery I made first opens I've got it
displaying each photo for 4 seconds then going to the next, there's
also the option to pause. While it's playing when it first opens
everything looks fine, the image sizes are right the height is
correct and there's no stretching. BUT as soon as I click on a
thumbnail at the bottom it decides to stretch the width of the
image to fit the table, and then every image after in the slide
show is also stretched. Even if i pause the slides and select a
different image thumb it displays the streched image and not the
proper proportioned image that is displayed when the page is first
    opened.
Anyone know how to fix this??????
Any help at all would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • Problem with loading pics in a photo gallery

Ok.. I don't know what is the problem for this.. maybe
someone with more experience bumped to this too.. and can help me
    out..
I will put the link here so u can see it but before u open
it, pay attention of the mess.. pictures are loaded one over
another or not loaded at all.. There are 2 panels of the same pics
and code, the second one loads the pics the same way as the first
one right after the first one has finished loading all of the pics.
But strangely the second panel with pics has absolutely no problem
with positioning the pics correctly with their correct size even
the first time u open it. (this comes from the swf of the pic that
loads in the loader; they all load in loaders positioned by me).
After the gallery has loaded the first time and u Refresh the
page.. u will see the gallery works perfect. If u want to see the
mess up again, just delete ur temporary internet files and refresh
the page again. Here is my gallery (not finished yet):
    http://www.goliveuk.com/Projects/Theolife/
    NOTICE:
When I test this in flash with simulate download, all works
fine except that some pics show progress of loading (I've made
listeners for that) and on complete I trace it completed loading
    but they don't show up..
So I can't figure out what might be causing this problem...
As far as my logic goes.. I can tell that if in the second
panel the pics load succesfully every time, this means that the
problem comes only the first time they are being loaded.. for me
this doesn't make any sense.. and I see as solution to make some
invisiblemovie clip that will load all of my pics for the first
time and then the actual visible movie clips that are visible will
continue so there are no problems.
I don't know if this will work.. it is just my thinking.
Maybe there is some other way to fix this when they load the
first time.. maybe telling the code to load it.. and reload it
    after that ?
Any ideas what could be causing this problem ?
Hope someone can explain to me..
    Thanks in advance...

can u give me an example with onLoadInit() or preloader code
as u mention so I can get a clear view of what u mean cuz now I am
a bit confused what must wait for loading to be completed the main
swf or the swfs of the pictures that have a code inside to get the
    size of the loader?

    thumbnails (70 x 70) in a table. To the right is a 260 x 260 layer
in which to view the photo full size. I want to have the full size
photo appear in this layer when the viewer mouses over the
corresponding thumbnail. Is this accomplished using javascript?
I've seen this on other sites. Can anyone suggest a tutorial or
other help? I considered the Flash / XML method but I don't want a
    slideshow. Please help.

It can be accomplished using CSS and javascript
highlight the thumbnail and use behaviors to "show or hide
layers". You will need to place the correct image in each layer
(I know that a lot of people do not like layers but it works
for this example. just fine I have had no problems) (but it is
    confusing)
    here is an example

  • Aperture (2.1.1.) - iWeb cannot find the Aperture Gallery in the web widget

    Hi all,
I think this is not really related to MobileMe's current problems, as it shows alright on the web:
If I publish a Web Album to MM (and I think it was the same issue with .Mac but am not sure), everythings working fine upload wise.
Only if I want to include the Web Album in iWeb with the help of the Web-Widget tool, Aperture Web-Galleries do not show up.
iPhoto works fine, what's published to MM there shows up on the iWeb widget menu (if not password protected)
Does anyone experience the same? is that 'normal' or is there a work-around?
    Cheers
    Greg

The workaround for this is to turn your Aperture galleries ( ie, albums) into iPhoto galleries, at least temporarily. You can do this online, once you are logged into your actual .me account (http://www.me.com/gallery/#home). Select an album, choose the Settings button at the top of the page ( a button with "light switches" graphic on it ), change the "Syncs with:" option to iPhoto and Ok. Then launch iWeb and you should find the gallery listed there. Once you publish the site, you should be ok to set the album settings back to Aperture. +(Haven't double checked this yet ...)+
    *Note 1:*
If you don't see the Syncs with option, then hold down the 'shift' key when you click on the Settings.
    Then it will show.
    *Note 2:*
Folks are confusing the web gallery albums that are showing up in the intra-app media browser (just images are accessed here) and the insert gallery menu item (entire gallery inserted). Easy mistake but they are different functions.

  • Spry Photo Gallery "Controls"

    Spry Photo Gallery “Controls”
Hi Don Booth, David Powers, Kinblas et al,
Thank you all for your commitment, and  I hope Spry isnt dead?!
I am years behind  but I antē d up for the CS4 Master Collection at the beginning of the year and have been plowing through the many written and tv.adobe tutorials on the various programs.  Some confuse so it was a pleasure to come to the straight forward instructions in Don Booth’s Photo Gallery that worked first time!
Forgive me however but although I have spent the last week perusing the forums (getting to know you all so well!) I can’t find any thread to help me to correctly add the “transport” “controls” div’s and bind them so that I get a better response to next/play/pause. I did find one detailing how to de activate the SlideShow Navigation - by deleting the container!!  V1 Oct ’07.
As it seems to me there is nothing out there (in the Forum(s)) I assume this must be a simple case of ignorance on my part, and,- I feel stupid - I must be lagging way behind - for which I humbly apologize and ask for your help, thank you in anticipation.

I've set up the photo gallery demo -china,paris,egypt- and
made a swap of a couple of my photos from in Dreamweaver's property
box src for thumbs, and link for the large pic. It works in Safari
and Opera but not in firefox and I don't know about IE as I'm on a
MAC and not that for into it yet.Is there something to look for in
the code? It shows no browser issues when I test for compatability?
I'd really like to use the xml version but I have tried and had no
    luck except in Safari.
