Gallery freezes since update

I have taken all of the recommended steps posted under other user's comments and I am SO FRUSTRATED!
Yes, I cleared the cache, did a force stop...yada yada.
Yes, I did a full backup and then did a factory reset...
Yes, Paper Artist is enabled...
Yes, the same problem happens regardless of whether or not the SD card is being used...
And YES, it is a problem because of the lousy update!!!! No problems before the update and now, major problems. I get so frustrated when software engineers make changes to "improve" the functioning and basically just make it so convoluted as to be unusable. The old way that the Gallery displayed images worked just fine, but now I suppose it is better to have all the little thumbnails and folders and so many new "features" that you can't even send an image to someone anymore? I mean, really, why can't we just get on with this and have someone on this blog or somewhere admit that the update is the problem and not a bunch of individual users have individual problems.
This is crazymaking and I am ready to chuck the whole thing. I thought Sprint was hard to deal with--this is worse!

My device is under warranty.
I am paying for insurance.

  • HT5457 ipad unlock screen freezes since updating ios

Since updating to IOS6 on my 3rd gen iPad, every other time I power on the "unlock" slider bar freezes, shuts down and when I press the "hard" power button on again it's unfrozen and I can again slide to unlock. This is frustrating. Anyone have any insight or have this same problem since updating?

    (A) Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.
    (B) Reset all settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings
Note: Data will not be affected but settings will be reset.

  • Frequent freezes since update to 10.6.8

    Hi all,
Thanks for you help in advance
I updated to 10.6.8 and first had a problem with the dock using 100% CPU, I worked around this using the fix provided here http://bit.ly/mPCVii
The thing is, I have nother problem now, every once and a while (20 minutes, 40 minutes, etc ...) one app hangs, so I switch to a new app or go to the dock or try to force quit it and the whole computer freezes for 20-30 seconds and then eveyrthing comes back to normal.
This happens whether I've got 1 or 10 apps launched and it also happens whether I'm on a simple app like TextEdit, Chrome or Safari or more powerful ones like Parallels, Photoshop, etc ... which makes me beleive that this isn't an app oriented issue.
Also, after the update to 10.6.8 and after the Airport Update, I had to repair permissions for these, they all got repaired using disk utility except for one which is the remote desktop agent (ARDagent), myabe this is linked sonce there was a security issue in Leopard 2 years ago with this.
I've also tried resetting PRAM and rebooting in Safe Mode.
    Thanks for your help gents.
    Kind Regards,

    MacBook Pro 2011 15'
    2 GHz Intel Core i7
    8Gb RAM
    512Gb crucial SSD

    Arnaud,
I am also experiencing the frequent freezes and the 100% CPU usage since the upgrade. I looked online and fixed the CPU usage with the fix mentioned in the thread but still have the freezes.
I just verified my permissions and i had a bunch issues. I repaired them and now they're reporting ok. I'm going to try resetting SMC and I hope that takes care of it.
I read your comment about the SATA II drives and i wanted to let you know i don't think it's that. I had two SATA 2 drives in my macbook and upgraded to 2 SATA 3 drives two days ago. I thought the freezes were related to one of my drives but now i not sure. I don't remember having any problems with my old SSDs but then again i can't remember if i upgraded to 10.6.8 when i had those in my system. I guess what i'm saying is that it appears the problem occurs regardless of if you have SATA 2 or SATA 3 SSDs in the system.
Something that i found odd was some of my xbench scores. Before i fixed the CPU problem i received about a 600 for my SSDs. Right after i fixed it went down to about 440. I did the permission fix and it went back up to 500 then right back down to 440s. I don't know if that has anything to do with the upgrade but it's definitely odd...
I'm half tempted to reinstall OSX not upgrade to 10.6.8. I could see that stops the freezes stop and if the Xbench results go back to the 600s....  If not, Lions only a week away. Maybe that will fix everything. Hopefully someone has some suggestions. If i decide to reinstall ill post my findings.

  • Apple TV Picture pixulated or freezes since update...

    Hello
I have 2 Apple TVs and BOTH are doing the same thing.  I have BOTH connected with an Ethernet cable through a (Gigabit) switch.  I have a superfast network and can stream anything from the Internet in lightening speed.  When I play videos on my Apple TV the picture is either frozen for a few seconds while the sound continues or it gets really pixulated (from green squares to out of oder large squares) and then catches up.  Sometimes it even looses the sych between the voice and picture.  It is a continuous problem that happened since the new Apple TV update.  I have Apple TV version 5.2.1 amd the latest iTunes.  This happens to ALL my video content.
    Thanks

Not sure why you are saying it's not the upgrade.  Nothing is changed in my set up and its been working great for a year.  There seems to be a different way iTunes streams to Apple TV and that is the issue.  I no longer see my library when my apple TV  is on Wifi and I did before.

  • Ipad2 facetime keeps freezing since update ios8.i tried everything

EEver since loading new ios8 software my wife and my ipad2 keeps freezing up on facetime.Keeps saying poor internet connection and camera freezes.I tried everything and my internet provider sent new modem with router built in.Same results.Any ideas or is this an apple problem?

I went to the Apple Store today and the Genius Bar people have confirmed that the problem exist. They even tried to restore as new too but the problem still arise. As they have confirmed that this is a software issue, they are going to pass these details to the software engineering department.
So for now, it looks like we are going to have a broken rear facetime camera

  • Keyboard freezing since update

My iPhone keyboard is lagging something fierce since I did the iOS update yesterday. I've tried everything that used to work to no avail!

I'm also getting these errors on Kubuntu on my work computer. I'm using an old MacBook Pro and I know there is some hardware issue that crashed the driver in OS X. But I'm not sure if I'm getting this error because of the update, since when I left my computer running through the night and when I came to work today, the laptop was turned off. I did update the kernel to 3.16.0-25-generic #33-Ubuntu and did apt-get autoremove. But I guess this could be a kernel issue...this might be due to some short circuit on the keyboard/trackpad bus, since both keyboard and trackpad stopped working, but not the external USB keyboard or mouse.

  • 24" iMac Screen Freezes since 10.6.3 update - pls help!

I don't know if this is just coincidence or not, but since updating my iMac to 10.6.3 it keeps on crashing. On 3 separate occasions today, whilst using my Mac the screen has gone completely black with thin white lines down it.....see pic below:
    http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/6SYzhCgVYEU5TBKqRfOQ1Q?feat=directlink
The fans and hard disk are still running but it will not respond to any keyboard or mouse presses - I simply have to turn it off by holding the power button in.
It will then restart as usual.
Anyone got any ideas? Do you think that if I was to re-install Mac OS X from my original install disk it could solve the issue?
    Thanks
    Darren

Experiencing the exact same issue - usually when using iTunes or Safari.
Screen becomes garbled with junk video artifacts, network connection drops and then the only thing I can do is move the mouse around. I cannot interact with the screen at all. The only "fix" is to do a hard power-down via the power button on back.
There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the freeze - it is not reproducible in any timeframe or activity.
I attempted the following to rectify:
    • Reformat
    • Reinstall 10.6.0 from SL DVD
    • Created entirely new user
    • Repaired permissions via Disk Utility on first login
    • Restarted
    • Updated OS to 10.6.3 from Combo update
    • Repaired permissions via Disk Utility again
    • Restarted three times to build up caches
    • System froze as before after roughly 25 minutes of web browsing and browsing iTunes Store
This points to a major graphics update bug - there is not other explanation. I have never had this kind of freeze in the two + years that I have owned this machine.
It has happened 6 times since 10.6.3 was installed.

  • What up with all the screen freezes since the updates?

What up with all the screen freezes since the updates?

Sorry to say your installation must have been unsuccessful.
A normal installation would not do this.
Uninstall, run the cleanscript* and try again (maybe your AV is too agressive).

  • Why is my iPad so slow or freezing since the iOS 8.02 update?

Why is my iPad so slow or freezing since the iOS 8.02 update?

Do a reset, no data loss.  Hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the ipad to boot back up.
If that doesn't help - settings - general - reset - reset network settings - no data loss, however you will need to reenter known wifi passwords.

  • IMac freezes since 10.4.9 Update, corrupts disk every time

Hi. I would call myself a fairly experienced Mac User (6+ Years Exp, multiple Systems & Laptops, etc.) but my one week old 24'' iMac is making me sick ...
I got the System on Monday and it worked fine till the 10.4.9 Update. That can be coincidence, but maybe not:
It freezed since then 3 times with the same symptoms:
    - Mouse can be moved, but the rest is not accessable - ball spins shortly after the freeze and stays that way
    - keyboard can't do a force quit
    - machine pings but can't be sshed from outside
This would be okay, if there wasn't this bad pattern:
When forced to reboot 2 times it rebooted, one time it didn't
But all times the boot disk couldn't be fixed with disk repair!!!
    Disk-repair showed two different errors:
    - keysize invalid ("Schlüssellänge ungültig")
    - Volume Header damaged ("Volume Header beschädigt")
The last one apperead two times and one time the disk wasn't bootable since it would only mount read only (checked with verbose booting)
I got the first one repaired finally by mounting the system in Target Mode on my macbook and running fsck_hfs with rebuilding the b-tree.
My trust in "stable" working on this iMac is down to zero. I will now try to reinstall the system the 4th time and then stay with the 10.4.8 version until the error happens again ... then I guess its time for apple care.
(BTW: Yes, I ran Hardware Test in extended Mode about 10 times - nothing. Smart Status of the drive is okay. No Extensions installed, just plain software with office and Adobe Programms)
Strangely, this post looks somehow similar: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=891369&tstart=0

Since updating to ios7 my ipad freezes, randomly zooms in and out, black pages that take forever to load and battery charge doesn't last very long. It's very frustrating, is there anything I can do it seems to have a mind of its own

    (A) Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.
    (B) Reset all settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings
Note: Data will not be affected but settings will be reset.

  • Aol is freezing since 11/8 update?

Aol is freezing since 11/8/11 update to system help

    Hello there Graeme,
It sounds like your apps are behaving unexpectedly after you updated to iOS 8. I would start by quitting all the running apps first:
iOS: Force an app to close
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • System freezes randomly since updating to 10.4.8

Since updating, I've been getting occasional freezes with an "unresolved kernal trap error." A good part of a day was spent trying to resolve this -- running Apple Hardware Test and Disk Utility. Finally, the errors diminished and I've had two since then.
Has anyone else experienced this? Things seem stable now, but I wanted to see if this is an error that is limited to my system or if it's more widespread.
    It's a Dual 2.3 GHz PowerPC G5, 2.5 GB DDR2 SDRAM.
    Thanks!

Here it is. Note that the freeze happens in various ways. This is from the first crashes. It seems to have partly been a conflict with my scanner - I've updated the driver. But in general, my system is sluggish and when I use the spotlight bar in finder menus to find something, it churns away for a long time. Previous to 10.4.8, it was speedy.
    Thanks for your help.
