Gallery Passwords

Hello I wonder whether anyone can help me. I don't know whether this is a glitch or whether I'm not using iphoto properly. I'm not very technical and I haven't used gallery in ages
I can create a iphoto gallery that is viewable to me alone or to everyone. My problem is when I'm trying to create a password for specific users
When it says (on the drop down menu) who it is viewable by, it doesn't seem to retain the users or the passwords. (for anyone) They seem to disappear.
I seem to be able to create a password it when I'm in the middle of publishing an album, however, these user names and passwords don't remain in the drop down menu to edit. In fact there is currently no one listed there
Has anyone got any suggestions?
I've looked on the forum and tried to follow similar suggestions to problems ie I have rebuilt the iphoto library - I've also deleted the com. apple.iphoto, plist in preferences in the library.
Thanks very much.

TWelcome to the Apple Discussions. Try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder. See if that will help.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Web Gallery password problems

After recently publishing and setting up a random password for a new iphoto Web gallery, I'm noticing that regardless of the password I assign to this gallery, the viewer ( or myself when testing it) still needed to enter my actual .mac password in order to view the page. Obviously I'd rather not give my personal .mac password out so I'm wondering if I'm missing a step. Can anyone help to correct this problem because I'm finding that the password I assign to it does not seem to work solely on its own.
    Thank you.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I suggest you first create a new album with the photos in the gallery, delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder and, in the iPhoto Web Gallery preference pane, delete the gallery and try again.

  • Web gallery password

I am wondering about when I post on web gallery, it asks for a password, and when I use my .mac password from my .mac account, it doesn't work? I am not sure which password I am to use?

Select the web gallery in iPhoto and click on the Settings button. In the next pane you can edit the passwords and user names for each gallery.

  • How to recover web gallery password?

I think I lost one of my web gallery's password cos the one I remember isn't working anymore. So how do I get my password back? or at least how to get access to the gallery and reset a new password? Thank you.

    I found how. Cheers.

  • Mobile me gallery on iweb

How do I publish a mobileme gallery on my website?
I dragged the widget down and it says 'no movies or albums to display' though I have four albums in my mobile me photo gallery. Even weirder, one of the widgets worked with one album.
    Any ideas??

Welcome to the discussions. Are the albums in your MobileMe Gallery password protected or "hidden"? ...If so, temporarily unset those preferences, restart iWeb and see if there's any difference.
By the way, MobileMe live chat support is now 24/7 — see this announcement.

  • No photo names in Web Gallery

I just uploaded a web gallery (password protected) and after going to the trouble of putting names on all the photos in iPhoto (prior to the upload) was disappointed to see none in my corresponding web gallery.
    What gives?

Click on the Setting button in the toolbar for your gallery and make sure you have the option to include titles checked.
Hint: You can put the description of the photos in the description field in the Info pane at the bottom of the source window and then use this script to batch copy them to the Name field before publishing the gallery. Then when you want to revert back to the original file name just use the Photos->Batch Change->Title to File Name.
    Do you Twango?

  • Passwords: iphoto galleries & iweb website's

We have a .mac account. We have published several "photo galleries" and made them private with
the SAME user name and password. We have published a "website" making private with the SAME user name but, DIFFERENT PASSWORD.
The problem is, that after publishing (updating) of one or the other,
it only takes the user name and password of the last thing "published" for example: i modify and publish a gallery: if the user name for the galleries was JOE the password 1234/h, and with the website being JOE , 2234.k when I go to log into the WEBSITE, it takes the "GALLERY" password
(even though I never changed the website password?????)
Are iWeb and iPhoto publishing LINKED by your .mac account? I am really in hot water since
I am working for a school and each time a parent tries to access it does not work, depending on what I published last....please help:
    thank you
You should be able to make these user name and passwords different since they are different applications? iWeb vs iPhoto???

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You should be able to add edited photos from iPhoto to an iWeb page. How are you adding them and to what type of page?

  • Can I share my iCloud Photostream with someone else with a different Apple ID? How?

Can I share my iCloud Photostream with someone else with a different Apple ID? How?

    Yeah no kidding.
I have a big paid up MobileMe account with tons of gallery stuff - this will all go away for me in July, and I'll miss it - it took no learning to use, and it was built into everything - just intuitive to post to a gallery password protect it, and send a link to a friend.  Click click done!
It bothers me a lot when features I really enjoy and use are pulled in these half baked new apps and services.
iMovie used to be quite good, but the new one is very restrictive - it's a step backwards in some ways.
MobileMe was fine, but iCloud takes away the Gallery???? - another step backward.
We use some iPhones at work for shooting some videos and technical engineering photo's, and while it's pretty cool that the iPhone photo's get put on the photostream of "Jason's iMac", I don't have instant access, and I would really like to be able to do that. If it could be done, then I can stay at home and work sometimes and I can get the photo's automagically.
    Apple - please fix this.

  • Trying to post multiple galleries

I'm using iphoto 08 and I would like to do the following:
    1. have multiple galleries with their own user names and pw. For example, three galleries for Japanese Trip and two galleries for Ski Trip. For those people invited to the Japanese Trip galleries, they should be able to see all three sets, but not the Ski Trip sets. Is there anyway to do this if I only have one .mac account?
    2. I would like to be able to publish some of my galleries to a different server (my own domain name - not .mac) Is that possible?
    Thanks,
    peter

Sort of - Not what you request where a password controls which galleries people see but you can "hide" a gallery - gallery settings ==> advanced ==> "hide album on my web gallery page" - then people will need the exact URP to see it
Hide controld seeing or not seeing a gallery
Password controls accessing or not accessing a gallery - there is not way to make "sets" of galleries - each stands alone in each of the attributes.

Not as web galleries - you can post iWeb pages and there are third party web layouts but much of the Web Gallery is server side controlled and you can only access it via .Mac

  • Login to mobileme

Apple TV 2nd generation does not log into MobileMe Gallery password protected folders. When entering username and password it returns not recognised. This does not happen when logging into Gallery using a Mac or PC.
    Can anybody provide a solution

I agree with junebug172... there's something wrong if you can't access your own private galleries on your own AppleTV. I have a gallery that I created to use as a screensaver, but I don't want to make it public. People in my house seeing the pictures on the TV is OK... people I don't know seeing the pictures, not OK. This seems to be an oversight in the 2nd generation Apple TV.
As an attempted workaround, I made the gallery public, selected it on the AppleTV, then reset the gallery to private (hoping it would remember where the pictures were). It didn't work.
This really needs to be fixed.

  • How do you password protect web gallery

Iphoto is easy to protect. How do you password protect your movies in webgallery? The help menu is not very clear

The best I can figure out is that if you post your movie to the Gallery, but do not select the option to "Show project on Web Gallery home page," the video will not show on your home page for random visitors. When the movie is done posting, you can send the direct link of your video to whomever you want by copying it from the confirmation page after the video uploads. Not perfect, but the only option I see right now.

  • When I try to go to the photo gallery to choose a picture to send to my email address by using my Iphone it can't send or receive messages. Yahoo password is being asked which I have forgotten. How can I correct this?

With my my I phone as I try to choose a picture from the photo gallery to send it via email using my Iphone, I can't seem to send nor receive messages anymore. It is asking for my yahoo password. What password will that be as I have forgotten it. I know what my personal password on my yahoo address when I go to a regular laptop or desktop but with Iphone I am unable to to retrieve this password because it does not give you an option to change a password. What shall I do to correct this problem?

It's the same password.  Go to settings - mail - yahoo - enter the password for your incoming and outgoing mail server.

  • Setting a password at the web gallery level

    Hi,
I would like to host multiple password-protected albums in my web gallery but don't want to require my viewers to enter a password for each album they visit. Is there some way I can set password protection at the web gallery level and make all albums accessible to those who successfully authenticate?
    thank you!

No, not with iPhoto. That can be done with iWeb. You password protect a single site and can have multiple photo pages, i.e. slideshows, in that site. The just provide the URL to the site along with the password and user name to use.
It's so easy to create the photo page/slideshow in iWeb by dragging the album of the photos you want to use into the iWeb photo page like this.
