Gallery sharing on 808

It seems that facebook/twitter sharing doesn't work from the gallery. Is there something that can be done to get it working?

@Sternkanz - you have to attempt to share a picture from the main Gallery menu (set of thumbnails) as opposed to from within the specific picture itself... hit the 'share' symbol at the bottom and it will give you the selection of existing / created accounts, and/or e.g. Twitter or Flickr accounts not set up. tap and hold the created account you usually use, and it will give you the option to delete it - and therefore set it up again as a 'new' Facebook account next time you repeat the process.
but this won't work, and will produce the screenshot i attached in the message above. i think we will be extremely lucky if anyone from Micronokia or Facebook make any attempt whatsoever to either a) provide a developer fix at this end or b) tweak FB code to allow the album to at least become visible once again, even if we cannot continue to upload to it. if both happen, i will happily eat my Microhat and dance off into the sunset until the next problem arrives
i am now grudgingly having to consider investing in a 1020 and migrating to Windows 8.1 with the Cyan firmware upgrade. i really don't want to have to do this but cannot see any other comparable option to having the 808 in daily use and placing a high value on photography and sound recording, even if i have to lose some other benefits. why oh why didn't they include a replaceable battery on the 1020?! sheesh...

MobileMe widget Gallery sharing

I have several iMovies shared on my MobileMe Gallery - posted as small, medium and large so that anyone browsing can click according to their bandwidth and patience.
I'd like to post these movies on iWeb to make them accessible to a wider audience (people I don't necessarily want going to my MobileMe gallery page where they can see family photos etc)
Two problems:
1) When using the MobileMe Gallery widget to post content, an arrow link is provided that directs back to my MobileMe - how do I delete/disable this link?
2) Gallery widget doesn't provide the different bandwidth options that are available on MobileMe. How do I set this up?

That's a conundrum with iWeb. If you make the gallery isolated from your other galleries it can't be added and viewed via the snippet. However you can create and isolate the gallery and then embed it into a web page using iFrame code and an HTML snippet like these demo pages:

Old "Gallery" found in 808 when installing old app

I messed up my 808 when I installed an old version of Microsoft Apps, thought there was a good email program in it but when I was finished I found out my 808 looked like my old N8 without FP1, the Gallery for example was the old one and I could mark several pictures like before but icons for editing and more was messed up and got lots of errors...still this means the 808 contains old hidden programs....cant believe the old Gallery was copied into my 808 via Microsoft Apps 1.0....even after hard reset the old Gallery and much other things was way way old looking...that I take as it actually is possible to downgrade when not a total reset of factorysettings didnt helped me...soo, I made the decision to upgrade to FP2 when I had FP1 before...and then everything was ok again...and I have to say the FP2 was really good....found out the missing arrow keys for messaging actually are not missing..they just appear when needed and pressing on the text trying to put the marker where it needs to be...when doin that the arrow keys comes up as blue for 2-3 seconds...smart!
Was very very hard to find the alphanumerical keypad though...but atleast I have it now and it works good everyhting!
Even found some new updates in NokiaSuite for various functions in the 808...which have come after the FP2...
Gotta love Symbian Belle...please continue to refresh it with smaller updates now and then, dont kill it!

I would recommend to use the latest version of application server which is iAS6.5sp1MU2. Try this out and see if you run into any problems. Also please check the release notes available at docs.sun.com to check the compatibility.

.mac web gallery sharing without iMovie '08

I have iLife '08 on a pre-intel mac so I don't have access to iMovie '08. I'm using the web gallery feature of .mac for my movies with less than stellar results.
Here is my workflow:
1. Create my movie in iMovie '06
2. Export as a QT web streaming-medium file.
3. Import above file into iPhoto '06
4. Share movie to .mac web gallery via iPhoto
You can only get content into your web gallery thru iPhoto or iMovie which is why I have to go this route. The problem is, the compression/encoding via iMovie allows the viewer a choice of small/medium/large movie, with the large selection (supposedly) DVD quality. I obviously offer only one fixed steam at the present.
My question is this, does anyone know the settings in QT pro I can use to achieve the same result as iMovie '08?

Web gallery sharing

i have several albums i've created in my web gallery (of course i have a dot mac account). The problem i have is that when i want to share an album with someone i usually only want to share one specific album, but there always seems to be the "my gallery" button in the upper left hand corner of the album i share that allows people access to all my albums. any ideas? THANKS!

open the galleries you do not want to share in iPhoto and click on teh settings icon (the gear at the bottom), make sure Advanced is selected and click on the "hide album on my web gallery page"

Gallery File Deleting Issue In 808 PureView

Hey guyz I just bought the 808 and I am having an issue with the gallery... I have changed the saving location of the pics to memory card but now whenever I delete any picture there is a garbage file in the gallery... I have restarted my phone, taken the memory card out but still nothing.... It just doesnt delete those garbage files.... Any one knows about this?? plz help

Are you doing that via the Finder or Terminal? If so, that's not the way to delete backups. See #12 in [Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/FAQ.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum).
And now I'm getting an error in time machine. "Files can't be copied onto the backup disk because it appears to be "read only"". I do get info on the disk, and my account has Read & Write privleges, but it say "You can only read" above that".
The Finder or Terminal deletions may have corrupted your backups. Repair them, per #A5 in [Time Machine - Troubleshooting|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/Troubleshooting.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum).

I'm doing the deletion through Time Machine (I go into Time Machine, find the folder in the backup, and ask Time machine to delete all backups of that folder).
I did find the tip of unmounting the disk, rebooting, and remounting it. That Stopped messages about the disk being read only. However, the folder still doesn't delete. I'm also a bit worried about these being symptoms of some other problem...

Gallery Album 808 Missing

Hi,
I'm little frustrated with the Gallery of the 808 Pureview:
I don't understand why the Gallery Album option is missing!!!
With such a phone it's easy to take hundred and hundred of pics, but how to browse them without sorting them by:
- Album
- Date
- Place or other options??
Why to downgrade the Gallery from the N8 to the 808?? It was much, much better on the N8!!
Is there any solution to install the Gallery Software of the nokia N8 on the 808, because i really would like to do it??

Thanks you for your feedback and comments. However as N8/Nokia 701 and Nokia 808 PureView are not the same device and there can be multiple reasons for not having a app available to the Nokia 808 PureView in the Nokia Store.
Using unofficial ways of downloading and installing these files may violate license agreements, may cause damage to your device and/or invalidate warranty.
If you know of or see an app which is available for N8 or another Nokia phone and you would like to see the app available for the Nokia 808 PureView please contact the app developer to make it available through the store.

Ios8.3 cant share photo to wechat in photo gallery.

I Just upgrade my iphone 6 plus to ios 8.3, but having problem with the photo gallery sharing.after i taking photo i wan to share to wechat from gallery. It turn back to gallery.now i only can share photo bu open the wechat apps and share in side the apps.did u guy got same problem with me?and what can i do to fix it??

I have this problem as well. Didn't notice it earlier, but I think it was the 8.3 update. Can't share anything to WeChat (safari, photos, etc.)

Whenever you upload anything to photoshop.com, you need mark the gallery shared. If it's publically shared, URL should be accessible by anyone. For private sharing, you have to send the email through Photoshop.com. Select the album and go to sharing option.

Need picture style control for photo and video wit...

Lumia 1020 stands for its excellent phone camera. But I am very disappointed with its JPG output. The whitle balance is always a big problem, then too much contrast and oversaturation. True, the photo is crystal sharp, but who needs a bad color photo with great sharpness?
After Lumia Black, the DNG format comes. Now I cannot shoot without it. So I just find the 1020 is really great, but the built-in processing destorys all.
I don't know about other phone camera, but just look at the iphone's. Thanks to its great overall JPG output quality, keep much more details, so people love to use post-fx apps in their phone to make good-looking photos. Then 1020 for me, I just have to live with the DNGs instead of easy sharing.
808 Pureview has all the picture style control funtion, even in video !! Down the contrast sharpness and saturation, then the semi-CineStyle is coming! Look at the 1020's video sample, it is a shame.
All I want to say is: Can you (I don't know to call Nokia or Microsoft) make some control opitions like 808 or just low down the over contrast/saturation/sharpness photo and video. I don't wanna see a such amazing sensor and lens camera like this terrible.

In very general terms, the requirements for Video will exceed those for Photoshop (PS). If you are looking at PrPro CS5, then the video card WILL make a difference, and PS CS5 now takes advantage of the video card, than before.
For PS, the minimum HDD setup would be a 2x system with physical (not partitions) HDD's. Video has more requirements in this area, and I would say that a 3x setup is the minimum. Do read Harm's linked article, as it is the best that I have ever run across.
For the PS setup, just locate the Scratch Disks for PS on your extra HDD's, the ones with your Project and PrPro Scratch Disks.

How to publish without recompressing unedited JPEGs?

Hi. Please let me provide a bit of context before I ask my question.
I use lightroom to manage a large catalog of images that consists of:
(1) Raw files that have been "developed" within Lightroom.
(2) JPEGs that will not be developed/edited in Lightroom.
Now, I use Publishing Services to create full size, high quality JPEGs for various purposes: online gallery sharing, copies for application-independent archive, making prints, etc. I'd like to be able to set up a single publishing service to publish my unedited JPEG images "as-is" (i.e. original, no resize, no recompress), while still allowing the publishing service to convert my developed raw files to JPEG at a quality I set.
Problem is, I can't figure out how to do that. In the File Settings dialogue, I have to select a file type, either "JPEG" or "Original". Selecting JPEG means that all images (even unedited JPEGs) get recompressed, and selecting "Original" doesn't work because the raw files need to be converted to JPEG.
Is there a way to do what I want?
Put simply, what I'd like is an option in the File Settings dialog (when JPEG file type is selected) called "Don't recompress unedited JPEGs". Does this exist somewhere?
Bonus if a similar capability exists (or could be provided) for the Export dialogue, which has similar options to Publish Services.
I'm fully aware that I can set-up two publishing services (one for unedited JPEGs, another for everything else), but that is a bit of a hack and has some limitations of its own.
Also, please no "just shoot raw" replies. That is not a solution. I have a good reason for having JPEGs and regardless, they are not going away now. The reason I have JPEGs is because I switched from Capture NX2 to Lightroom. The only way to preserve and bring into Lightroom my (years of) work in Capture NX2 was to save my Nikon raw edits as high quality JPEGs, and then import those "finished" JPEGs into Lightroom. Anyone who has a point-and-shoot camera or a smartphone is also likely to have JPEGs that they don’t want recompressed.

Aperture and icloud

I am an Aperture user and realize that MobileMe and related galleries will go away soon. I've learned that journals publised via my iPad/iPhoto will publish in iCloud, much like galleries currently publish via MobileMe. Is there a way to publish in iCloud through Aperture. My SmugMug account is expiring and I prefer to go the iCloud/Aperture route for sharing journals, but can't duplicate the process I discovered with iPad/iPhoto. Any guidance or suggestions is appreciated.

Yosemite 10.10.2 spinning wheel. Please help.

I've been running Yosemite for about 5 months and updated to 10.10.2 when it was released. I have had ZERO issues until March 5. I tried closing Photoshop CC 2014, and that's when the spinning wheel problem began. Everything I clicked began taking around 30-45 seconds to respond. It began acting as normal shortly after that, and I immediately performed a Time Machine backup (onto my WD Passport Pro w/Thunderbolt). Then the problems continued. It got to the point where even booting my MacBook took 5 minutes (normally takes 10-15 seconds because of the SSD).
I spoke with OWC and said I thought it could be the hard drive. They sent me a replacement. I did a clean install of Yosemite from Internet Recovery, then restored my files and settings from the backup I made on March 5.
I worked on the computer for about 5 hours with no incident whatsoever, the thing was blazing fast like it used to be. Then, I tried closing a simple tab in Safari, and the problems began again. I'm now trying to manually move some files onto my external drive, thinking it might be some Library files that have been corrupted, but it's saying it will take 6 days to transfer 46GB. Not gonna happen...

I feel like something is greatly impeding my read/write speed onto my hard drive.
I know other people have complained about problem with the spinning wheel on 10.10.2. Does anyone have any ideas?

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
The test works on OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later. I don't recommend running it on older versions of OS X. It will do no harm, but it won't do much good either.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of it have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message. See, for example, this discussion.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
5. Try to test under conditions that reproduce the problem, as far as possible. For example, if the computer is sometimes, but not always, slow, run the test during a slowdown.
You may have started up in "safe" mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, a series of lines will appear in the Terminal window like this:

        The test results are on the Clipboard.
        Please close this window.
[Process completed]
The intervals between parts won't be exactly equal, but they give a rough indication of progress. The total number of parts may be different from what's shown here.
Wait for the final message "Process completed" to appear. If you don't see it within about ten minutes, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, press the key combination control-C or command-period to stop it and go to the next step. You'll have incomplete results, but still something.
12. When the test is complete, or if you stopped it because it was taking too long, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak for themselves, not for me. The test itself is harmless, but whatever else you're told to do may not be. For others who choose to run it, I don't recommend that you post the test results on this website unless I asked you to.

Get with the program

Hi.
Man, what a difference between iMovie '04 and '08. I'm getting stuck everywhere but still clunking along. I'm trying to use iMovie for animated slide shows from still images. There's not a lot of help out there on this application of iMovie. I've imported 60 or 70 images from iPhoto and added a ripple transition between each image. Ive added two songs from iTunes, but I cant get the ending right. There's about 3 or 4 seconds of song left unheard/unplayed after the last image shows.The whole thing comes to a rather abrupt fade. What I'd like to do is time things so that the last image plays, fades to black, the audio fades out, and the show is over.I'v been messing with the "manually fade audio"
box, with no luck. I also can't change the last transition from ripple to fade to black. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Ideas anyone?

Do you have an hour to spend watching and actively using the on line tutorials?
I was kind of lost at first too, but by utilizing the tutorials on line (over 25 if I am not mistaken) I was able to cut my first project in a few minutes.

Suggestion regarding website usability, and the AUR

Hey everyone, lately i've been doing some thinking on how to improve the website and integrating things as easily and best as possible. Before the flames on this being commercial software begin, just hear me out.
With minimal - no effort and hacking of the source code we can have these features:
· Single login/registration for everything below
· Announcements on front page piping automatically piping discussion to it's own thread in specified forum
· Blogs
· Gallery
· shared login with mediawiki
· An improved AUR system, with an accurate way to gauge package usage (which i'll describe and show below)
· Shop
· Donations system which displays in real time and adds user to a thank you page (unless they choose to be anonymous)
· Forum system lightyears better than phpbb (current info and userbase simple to import)
· Very powerful (and easy) administration/privelage system
· RSS Feeds on every Area you choose to have them for
· even our user map can be integrated with no effort
· mailing list threads piped to specified forum and vise versa
What i'm proposing is vBulletin. An owned license (one time lifetime fee) is only 160$, and i feel with the extra donations this is well worth it, in pretty much every way i can think of.
AUR system:
It probably will be easiest to show by example, so here it is - http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthre … did=108515 . The best feature this offers us (along of course with being centralized), is the way the voting would work. Right now, i know i'm guilty, but i just get too lazy and forget to always click to vote on a package i use. And also alot of the time i stop using said package.
With this system, you click install, when you have installed a package, the contributor can see exactly who installed and who hasnt (Which is good as a way to nudge people who post for support, yet havent clicked install/voted). People will be much more likely to vote/click install a package here, since doing so will enable them to be notified via email every time the package is updated. and when they uninstall and no longer wish to be notified of updates, they just click uninstall.
I know currently we have the rss feed for the aur which does similar, but afaik it only shows new packages and not updated ones?. Which can be a pain to always check to stay up to date.
Anyways, give it some thought. I've been using and hacking up vB for quite some time, so if you guys have any questions on other areas, just ask. I'm posting this to the mailing list as well. Don't take this as a flame on the current website efforts. I just feel this would make things easier to manage and stay organized, and better for the end user for the same reason.

Ok guys, I'm gonna butt in here, I've seen this happen several times before. While you can discuss all you want, I guarantee nothing will happen unless somebody actually chooses to do something. We talked for ages about a wiki, but it didn't happen until rasat set it up. We talked for ages about a NEW wiki, but that didn't happen until cactus set it up. We talked for ages about forum mods, but that didn't happen until dibble set it up. We talked for ages about Arch64 before syamajala and now andyRTR took on the project. We talked for ages about a custom kernel PKGBUILD before I and later dibble tackled the project. We've talked for ages about gui frontends to pacman and people have set them up and the project usually falls apart, barring jacman. and so on.
Now, if anyone is *serious* about this project, and I mean serious as in you've thought about it and realize that its HUGE, I would suggest one of two things:
1) talk to Judd and see if he has any ideas
2) start hacking something together and show it to Judd
Now, from previous experience in Arch-related development, I can guarantee that Judd won't just accept or assign someone to start this project. What he will do, however, is provide answers and feedback if someone is working on it, and if he likes the results, he will accept them as well. This is typical arch development.
I would say that since the website is such a visual first impression of Arch, Judd might want more input into it, but I doubt this is true.... if he was that concerned, something would have been done with the front page before now. ;-)
Basically, I'm saying talk all you like, but it won't do any good.
