Gallery with externally referenced images?

Hello, I am wondering if someone knows how to create a picture gallery where the images are online (web hosting folder). I need a tutorial to add the script to my existing swf. I have all the buttons ready! I hope someone can help me. Thanks!

What you should do is search Google using "AS3 slideshow tutorial" or "AS3 gallery tutorial"  (substitute AS2 if that's what you're using).  You should be able to find one that lines up somewhat with whatever buttons you are planning to use.

  • Aperture Crashing trying to Relink Externally referenced Images

I am trying to relink some referenced images in Aperture and as soon as I hit the relink button it crashes. I have tried it about six or seven times and always the same result.
Does anyone have any suggestions at all about how to fix this issue? Maybe erase the preferences files or some image directory or something?
    Thanks!

    Any suggestions? anyone! ...?
    echo....
I really don't want to have to re-import all the images, because they have rankings and adjustments associated with them. If Aperture keeps crashing that will be my only known alternative.
Thank You Very Much! ...in advance

  • What is the point of referenced images

i'm starting to think either ap2.1 is a vastly inferior product to its predecessor, or there are just so many bugs and kinks that still have yet to be worked out and apple has given no indication when they will.
In addition to my still unresolved constant thumbnail regeneration issue when using referenced images from when ap2.0 launched, I am now experiencing problems when trying to edit referenced images using an external editor (in my case photoshop)
after exporting the image via aperture to photoshop for editing, making my edits, and then saving them in phothshop, the psd. file which is created in aperture is NOT acknowledging the edit...typically when working with a non-referenced image aperture will update the psd. file almost immediately with a new thumbnail image recognizing the change. in this case, not only is it not generating a new thumbnail, but when i click on generate thumbnail nothing happens. furthermore, upon closing and reopening aperture, the referenced psd. is missing, and the original referenced RAW image file is stacked with only itself (a small number 1 indicating a stack but only 1 image in the stack).
is there an aperture support number that I can call? I have been severely disappointed with the performance of this program.

To your post header, I think the point of referenced images is self evident. They allow you to store your images on external media, or to utilize your own folder structure for organization in the finder. Many people prefer this to having Aperture manage the images in one library. I use a combination of both methods.
That's the "point" of them. Now if you're having some issues using them, or it you're experiencing unusual behavior that's a different topic. I round trip to Photoshop (less and less with 2.1 and the new plug-ins) with my referenced images without the problems you describe. Once I've made my edits in Photoshop and save the image, when I return to Aperture the image appear next to the original, in a stack, displaying the edits I performed in Photoshop. Additionally the new image is stored in the same location as my referenced image.
Why you're not seeing this I'm not certain. There can't be a stack of one image. What can happen if you have a smart album for example, or the search field set to display only 5 star rated images, is that the photo from a stack that meets that criteria will show up in the browser. It will also show the stack number. However, if no other images in the stack meet the criteria of the search, they will not display even if you click on the stack. So it will seem like there is a stack of one image since you can display only that one image. This only happens if you've got a filter of some kind in effect.
I also don't have the problems with thumbnails you describe, and I use Aperture daily with thousands of images. I would suggest rebuilding your library as a first step (hold down the command-option key at launch).

  • Externally edited image not stored with referenced files?

When I open an image in the external editor, do my work in PS, and then save, the new file is located in the Aperture Library even though the master for the image is a referenced file. Is there any way to change this so the new images will be placed in the same folder as the referenced images? Thanks...gary

I'm afraid for the moment you have to do it manually by selecting the image and going to File/Relocate Master.
We should have and option in Aperture to allow us to have ALL the images in an external location.

  • Exporting projects with referenced images

I want to import referenced images from an external hard drive, edit them and then export the project in order to archive it. Is this something that I can do now? Will I end up with a bunch of referenced previews in my library and an exported project that can link back up to the master images that are on a separate hard drive?
    Antonio

No, this only exports a "copy" of your projects and does not remove the master image. It is still in the Aperture Library. I am also trying to find an easy way to move the entire project outside of the library and still maintain a reference link to wherever I move the images to. Any thoughts?

  • Concerns with Dropbox to store/backup referenced images?

    Hi,
I'm looking for an alternative for my current cloud backup solution (Mozy) since the current scheme requires me to pay 23$ per month for my ca. 260Gb of image data. Since I also pay 10€ per month for 1TB of Dropbox space, I seriously consider to cancel the Mozy subscription and use the available Dropbox space as a cloud-based backup solution for my original images (next to my Time-Machine backups).
To be clear : I only work with referenced images. I have no originals inside my Aperture library. I do not plan to transfer my Aperture library to my Dropbox. I do not need to work with my originals from multiple computers. I only use Aperture from one single iMac.
I have read multiple threads about Aperture/Dropbox combinations, but they all cover storing your library on Dropbox. That's not what I intend to do. I just want to transfer the folder structure (where my referenced images are stored when importing into Aperture) to Dropbox.
Are there any concerns with storing the referenced images on Dropbox?
    Thanks for your help,
    Mitch

    Funky,
What is the best way to back it up? Just copy the files to another hard drive?
That will definitely work, but how will you tell what you have backed up and what you have yet to backup? A better solution (if you are using Aperture 3) is to use the backup function when importing.
I am also using Time machine, I assume that it is backing up attached external drive (I have not "excluded it"), is that correct?
Well, that's a Time Machine question, but according to the following thread, just because you didn't explicitly exclude it doesn't mean it's not excluded.
has anyone had good experiences with on-line backup solutions?
You should search the forum for a thread with lots of input from the last week or so. There was a lot of talk about some on-line backup.

You're question is hard to follow. Are you looking to rename your master files to the version name? Or are you looking to do something with IPTC caption field and the masters?

  • I want to create an image gallery with forward back nav, master image with a click to pop out zoom

    Hi Musers,
I'm currently building a photography website and need some help building a specific type of gallery.
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Below is a description of the gallery I want to build:
On the gallery page the gallery appears as a single 'Master Image' with forward and back 'Navs.' and a 'Counter' underneath this single 'Master Image'. Lets say that there are 10 images in this gallery. When the viewer clicks on the forward 'Nav.' the 'Master Image' changes to the next image in the sequence of 10 and the 'Counter' below confirms this progression, in this example the 'Counter' changes from 1 of 10 to read 2 of 10, the 'Master Image' displayed is the second image in the sequence.
Simple so far.. This above I can do as this is just a basic gallery. What follows is what I cannot find a solution for.
I want the gallery viewer to be able to click on the 'Master Image' and launch an enlargement of that image overlaying the gallery page, very much like the way the 'Lightbox' widget displays an enlarged image. When the viewer clicks off the 'Ligtbox' or enlarged image it dissapears, reverting the page view back to the standard gallery view with 'Master Image', 'Navs.' and 'Counter'. I do not want the expanded / Enlarged 'Lightbox' image accompanied by a thumbnail gallery, 'Navs.' / Navigation arrows or a 'Counter'. What I want is to be able to launch an enlarged version of the 'Master Image' as an overlay on the gallery page, something like a pop out.
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Can anyone explain how I can do this? Is it possible?
The solution I want seems to be a highbrid between the standard gallery with navigation arrows kept but minus thumbnails and captions with some of the functionality of the lightbox gallery widget.
I very much appreciate any help anyone can give.
    Thank you

    Hi Harriet,
Thanks for the message. I'm sure as time goes on new features will be introduced but it's a bit of a shame that the widget library is a little basic, oh, and at times it's just that little bit buggy. So far I'm really impressed by Muse despite being ever so slightly disappointed by some of it's limitations. I'd like to see more image gallery options, the ability to set up a client login area or a client ftp within a site, I also tried embedding video but as I'm no programmer the result looked clumsy so some focus on this would be a help. Considering that a good number of people benefiting from a Muse site will be online retailers a zoom function should have been there from the start.
    Best regards
    Jacques

  • PHP Image Gallery with Images placed every other paragraph

Currently I have multiple images that where uploaded to the details page of Post 1. Every other paragraph I have an image displayed. With say 5 images.
What I would like is that the user can click on the image and open up a gallery (on the same page, like Lightbox Gallery) and view through the other 4 images related to Post 1, as these images may not be full resolution on the details page.
If I understand correctly, Lightbox makes a small thumbnail preview of the images, which I don't want, and lists them like a Gallery (Next to each other). Can anyone direct me on the best way to accomplish this?
    Thanks,
    Riley

Sorry for the confusion, I didn't mean lightbox actually created the thumbnails, but it produces them similar to the link you provided which I don't want. My image uploader does create thumbnail images, but only one per new post.
My format is similar to this:
    POST 1
    Text Paragraph1 (Image1 )
    Text Paragraph1 (               )
    Text Paragraph1 (               )
    Text Paragraph1 (               )
    (Image2) Text Paragraph2
    (               ) Text Paragraph2
    (               ) Text Paragraph2
    (               ) Text Paragraph2
Now what I would like is that they can click on the picture and it opens up the image at say 600px X 600px resolution, with the next/prev buttons so they can browse through only the picutres on this page.
I have been trying to find an example but seems that some take you to a different page of just the image you clicked on, or a new page with the gallery.
I like how the lightbox gallery opens up on the same page, that way you close out of it and can continue reading. But I want to be able to have the images placed in different positions on the page, and not in a row like with a Gallery.
I hope I help clarified what I am trying to do.

  • Problem with Referenced Images

    Hi all,
I have some documents that all follow the same structure.
    doc1\doc1.book
    \*.fm
    \images\A.jpg
    doc2\doc2.book
    \*.fm
    \images\A.jpg
In both documents, I have an imported image file that I want to be "images\A.jpg".
my doc2 directory would have been created by copying and renaming doc1 (because they all follow the same document template/format). But in doc2's .fm file, my referenced image file's path is "..\doc1\images\A.jpg", referencing to the original file.
I've tried renaming doc1\images\A.jpg to doc1\images\B.jpg, and opening the doc2 .fm, which then says it can't find "..\doc1\images\A.jpg" and asks me to replace it with another file. So, I use "images\A.jpg" (which is in the doc2 directory). That seems to work. But this seems to also change the link in the doc1 .fm file to point to "..\doc2\images\A.jpg".
So, the problem seems like both .fm files will always point to the same image file. I don't know how to disconnect these, so that they can work independently from each other. i.e. each doc directory (doc1 and doc2) is self-sufficient.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.
    Kevin

    Kevin,
If I understand you correctly, you have created the doc1 folder, inside is the doc1.book, *.fm files, and an images folder. One of the *.fm files references the A.jpg image in the images folder.
Create the doc2 folder, then copy all the files and folders inside doc1 to inside doc2. Do this in Windows Explorer, NOT FrameMaker.
Rename the doc1.book inside the doc2 folder to doc2.book. Everything should be as you want it to be.
NOTE that if you open doc1/*.fm in FrameMaker and then save it as doc2/*.fm, then FrameMaker recalculates the path to A.jpg to point to the file doc1/images/A.jpg, because FrameMaker assumes you want to retain your links to the original image files. The difference from the procedure above is that you are doing the copying within FrameMaker, not within the Windows file system.

  • Vault restoration with referenced images - SEEKING HELP

Long story short: I have, had, a library that contained both managed and referenced images. 2 vaults set up for managed images, RAID system set up for referenced images.
Rebuilt library the other day because Aperture was moving kinda slowly. Followed the typical protocol of backing up first then rebuilding and to later back up again. In the middle of rebuilding, Aperture froze (Activity Monitor said Aperture was using only .50% of resources) and hung there for over 8 hours. Force quite wouldn't work. Had to hard restart.
Problems surface with the primary library. Decide to restore from recently backed up vault. Worked for only 13 projects but hung/froze again on the 14th project for another 8 hours.
Freaking out that my redundant back up system completely doesn't work, I put the managed projects back together in a new library by going into "show contents" of the vault and importing projects individually. This took another day of work. Managed projects are working just fine now and are backed up once again.
Referenced projects will not import at all. I can not reconnect them to their referenced images in any reasonable manor. The only way I've figured out how to do this is by hand, placing the referenced master image file into the "show package" content file of the said image. This is a daunting task for the 7 weddings of 700-1000 image each. Even if I do this, there is no guarantee that the project will import with out issue.
Anyone know how to do this? Does anyone know what happened here? Any thoughts would be greatly helpful.
    Thanks in advance,

    Dudley,
I'm experiencing the same problem on my MacBook Pro: Aperture will periodically show all of my reference masters as being disconnected. They're on the laptop's internal HD, which is the only one connected to it. Quitting and restarting Aperture usually reconnects them temporarily.
My main piece of advice is to not install Leopard. It's been nothing but trouble for me, my wife, and a friend that's done so. If there was an easy way to drop back to 10.4.11, I'd do so in a heartbeat.
    Hi, Andreas
I think there is something else going on. (would like to know what it is). We've been on Leopard/Aperture combo since day one and running without any hickups on PPC, Intels and Laptops.
Is there anything that seems to trigger this disconnect?

  • Web gallery with links to hires images - possible?

    Hi all,
I would like to use a web gallery to "deliver" hires images to clients, meaning that I want to have a preview page with thumnail images that should link to hires jpeg or even tif images for download. I found, however, that Aperture web galleries seem to be limited to maximum 1200x1200 jpegs for the detail page.
I know that there are ways to customize web galleries so I thought there might be a solution for this anyway? Like putting in a link to the hires image in the detail page?
    Any hints appreciated
    Alexandra

I made a good step forward regarding this type of customized template: I found that the image size restrictions can be changed in the "albuminfo.plist" file, and I can also edit the link on the gallery page that points to the detail page.
But: Both gallery page and detail page use the same tag to refer to the image they are displaying: "ThumbImageURL" which seems to be interpreted differently in different contexts: In the gallery page it refers to the thumbnail (as expected) and in the detail page it refers to the larger image. This seems to indicate that there might be something like LargeImageURL"...
Is there any kind of documentation to the tags used for web galleries in Aperture?

  • Aperture 2 Thinks Referenced Images are Offline with Network Home Directory

Aperture thinks my Home directory is offline, but it's not. My Home directory is on a Mac OS X Server on the LAN (i.e., not on the machine in front of me that I run Aperture 2 on). I'm able to import images from my Nikon D200 in RAW/NEF format using Aperture 2, and write them to my Network Home directory (again, on the Mac OS X Server across the LAN) with no problem. Images are added to Aperture Library as REFERENCED images. Actual image files and Aperture Library are within the Pictures folder in my Network Home directory (on the OS X Server across the LAN). Previews and images show up fine initially. However, after importing and quitting, the next launch of Aperture 2 shows those same imported/referenced images as being offline (i.e., alias badge with red strike-thru). No way to get Aperture 2 to recognize that these image files are really ONLINE, not off.
Tried to re-establish the link from Aperture to each image file using File->Manage Referenced Images..., but that corrupted something. Image becomes red slate with "Unsupported Image Format" message, and image preview goes blank/gray on next Aperture 2 launch.
Previous version of Aperture (v1.5.?) did not have this problem.

Thanks for the replies (in triplicate! from grommet). More information:
REFERENCED images that were imported earlier (using Aperture v1.5.x) show up ON-LINE in Aperture 2 (i.e., all is OK with the earlier images; referenced image badge has no red strike-thru).
The images that were imported more recently--all with Aperture 2--continue to show the referenced image badge with the red strike-thru, indicating Aperture thinks they're OFF-LINE (even though they're not). This makes it impossible to edit or use any of the more recent images that were imported with Aperture 2.
Here's the kicker: the more recent images imported with Aperture 2 and indicated as being OFF-LINE are stored in the SAME general file location as the earlier images that were imported with Aperture v1.5.x and are indicated as being ON-LINE!
My Home Directory is on a Mac OS X Server across the LAN.
    Aperture Library is at: ~/Pictures/
Earlier images are at: ~/Pictures/Digital Photos/Roll-000001/1999-05-26-0001.NEF
Recent images are at: ~/Pictures/Digital Photos/Roll-000107/2008-04-17-0001.NEF
Clearly a bug with Aperture 2. I've filed feedback with Apple. Hope to heck this bug is not overlooked in next incremental release. I'm stuck/dead in the water without a fix.

  • Overlay: image gallery with swipe and page control

    Hi,
I'm in my first approach with DPS and I can't understand how to create an image gallery swipe controlled with the page control on the bottom part (page control is rapresented by those little circles on the bottom part of the image that shows how many images are shown by the gallery. See this image for a page control example: http://gtiapps.com/wp-content/gallery/p681_gallery/page1.png ).
I tried to read the documentation and the DPS tips but I can't see this simple kind of gallery.
I'm sure I already saw this kind of gallery in DPS-like apps like Wired, I can't believe is some kind of html based gallery (and if it is, anybody could link me a page where I can get the code snippet for that?).
I'm using inDesign CS6 on OsX.
Please give me some suggestions to get this interaction,
    thank you in advance,
    Bye!

It's definitely HTML.  Here is a list of a whole bunch of them...
    http://www.tripwiremagazine.com/2012/12/jquery-carousel.html
I'm a big fan of roundabout at fredhq.com
You can also make something similar using buttons, and an MSO, not quite the same, but if you don't want to delve into HTML, it will do the job.  The dots on the bottom can be buttons.   I don't have a machine handy to try and see if you can make the MSO swipe blue, but it is worth a try.
A note about using HTML in a folio. Make sure you have the HTML in its own folder, with all the assets needed, but nothing else.  Anything else in that folder will also be included in the folio. (I.e. if you just put the HTML in the folder with your indesign doc, when you included the web overlay, the indesign doc, would also be uploaded.  Clear folder organization is key for dps projects.

  • Spry image gallery with filmstrip - how to display all thumbnails?

    Hello,
I'm using the Spry image gallery with filmstrip and want to be able to show all thumbnails. So instead of scrolling across to see all the thumbnails I would like to display them in a couple of rows. I thought it would be a case of changing the css from overflow: hidden to overflow: visible and increasing the height but this didn't make a difference.
An example of my gallery is here http://www.demo.femmewebsites.com/gallery.html (This site doesn't have many thumbnails but I have others with 20+ images that need to be displayed)
Your help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hello Krista,
did you have a look here: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/demos/pe_gallery.html, where you will find DW "Photo Gallery Demos". In every demo, are arranged a large number of images in several rows and rows. Therefrom you can use their source codes.
