Gallery without a plugin (html5)?

I have DW5.5. I need to get permission to download any plugins....so....is it possible to create an image gallery just with html and CSS? Needs to be html5 compatible.

jQuery "plug-ins" are just javascript code, they don't actually get "installed" on your computer like an application, if that's the issue that is keeping you from using them. You just copy/paste the code into your page or into an external .js file as instructed.

Is a very good one to use, but all jQuery plug-ins work the same basic way.

Can I update DW Photo gallery without re-doing it?

Hi,
I'm on DW CS3 on an intel iMac. I did a regular photo
gallery through DW's 'Command menu/Create Web Photo Album'
function.
My gallery is done etc, but I would like to update it and
switch out some photos and add/delete some etc. It looks like the
only way to do that is to re-do the gallery from scratch.
Is this right or is there a way to update the gallery without
re-doing it from scratch?

If you want to use Firefox's built in PDF viewer (i.e. not a plugin) then you will need to ensure that any PDF plugins are uninstalled from Firefox and that 'Preview in Firefox' is selected as the Action for PDF files (see screenshot below).

Web gallery without .Mac account

I am using the 30-day Aperture trial.
Is it possible to make and export a web gallery without owning a .Mac account ?
I just want to use the web gallery on my own web space.

Web Gallery is connected to .mac and can not be used to publish to other sites. However, you can make web pages and then export to SmugMug, Flickr, PhotoShelter etc. Web pages can also be exported to a folder on your system and then exported to your site.
You can also use iPhoto and iWeb in conjunction with Aperture and then export your galleries to other servers.
A little extra off topic info:
.mac users will automatically be upgraded to the new MobileMe as soon as it becomes available.

Crash while saving Custom Datalink without matching plugin.

Hi,
I'm writing a plugin that is able to fetch the data required for a datalink via network connection.
Now here's my problem:
As long as i got my plugin installed everything works fine, opening... saving... a document you name it.
The Problem occures after disabling the plugin opening the document (which contains my custom datalinks) and saving it again. InDesign seems to crash during the saving operation.
Also my customlinks are not recognized in the link list without my plugin.
Do I have to implement some sort of "backwards compatibility"? If yes, is there any kind of documentation for this?
I'd be glad for any hints!

p.s.: even after embedding the images and doing the open/save-procedure without the plugin InDesign goes down the drain.

The SDK programming guide in the SDK has a chapter on Persistent Data and Data Conversion, it discussed topic about missing plug-in, you might want to check it out.

Gallery Without Uploading Full-size Files

Can Aperture make a photo gallery for my clients to view the files only. I understand how to restrict downloading, but I have issues with loading large groups of photos big files just so the client can make a few picks. I like the web gallery idea a lot, but I would like to do it without having very large files to upload and sit in MobileMe for nothing. Before MobileMe, I did photo galleries in Photoshop and uploaded to my webserver. It was fast and easy, but I cannot figure how to do the same thing in Apeture.

Why not take a look at using a "web page" instead of a "web gallery". You can control the specs of the thumbs and subpage images exactly.

Adobe Portfolio to be read without flash plugin

I prepare Portfolios with Acrobat pro. But my users belong to a global Enterprise and thus it is not possible to install individually the Flash Plugin for the Reader. Is there a solution to create Portfolios without Need of Flash components?

Thank you for your answer. The point is, that Flash must be installed seperately to the Reader in addition! to the Maschine. And this is not suitable. In my opinion this is conceptually a very unadaquate solution if a have to buy a product without its Basis. So I need very quickly a new tool as a universal solution to collect and structure data.

Installing Acrobat without Reader plugin

Hi, I'd like to ask if it's possible to install Acrobat or Reader without the Reader plugin for browsers. I prefer to open Acrobat files in their own windows, and while I can simply tell my browser not to open PDF files in the browser window, it'd be best if I can simply skip installing the web Reader. Is there any way to do so?

Error messages svg-plugin HTML5-pack for Illustrator

I just added the HTML5 Pack to Illustrator.
I get two error messages every time I open Illustrator:
"error loading plugins SVG file format.aip"
and
"Operation cannot be complete because of an unknown error."
The problem appears on every start of illustrator.
I use Illustrator CS5 15.0.2
I use Windows7
I checked: all the new files (4x plugin, 1x support/content) are in the right place.
Can anyone help me with this??

And moreover: after installing the HTML5-pack: the new features (that are promised by Adobe) are not there.
I tried to restore Illustrator to the state it was in, before I installed the HTML5-pack, by replacing the 5 new files by the old/original ones.
But that does not help.
I keep getting error-messages, illustrator keeps telling me to restart because of new plugins, and the menu-item displaying all the panels is a mess.
I'm really getting pissed here.

How do I only show thumbnails in the photo gallery without showing the Main Image?

I need help customizing the Spry Photo Gallery Demo...
I would like for the Main Image To Be Hidden when the html
page loads. After the user clicks the thumbnail, I would like to
have the Main Image load centered on the page(with div containing
close button) on a z-index above the thumbnails. While the
thumbnails layer has a fade effect to 10%. After the user clicks
the close button the Main image disappears and the thumbnails layer
fades back to 100%. Then the user can click another thumbnail and
so on and so forth...
Is this possible? I have tried everything I can think of with
my limited knowlege of spry and cant get it to work. I just need
help with the Large image part. The close button and fades I can
handle.

There is a third-party program called Attachment Tamer that will do that for you. In the Terminal, you can type this:
defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -bool yes
Also note that while Attachment Tamer does some things with the encoding that makes certain email clients display the item as an attachment, what shows up at the receiver's end is solely dependent on their email client and its settings.

Why does Firefox freeze every time I try to install Adobe Flash player? I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it with and without the plugin container.

When I have Adobe Flash player installed and I open Firefox it will freeze up as soon as I open an additional tab other than my home page tab. In order to close Firefox after it freezes I have to use my Windows Task Manager to end process. As soon as I uninstall Adobe Flash player and reboot and then open Firefox it works fine.

Does it help if you disable the plugin-container process?

I need the quicktime plugin, but everytime I want to install it, the whole quicktime player is downloaded without the plugin.

quicktime plugin from aplle can only be installed with the whole quick time player.
I download it but nothing happenes, videos still cannot be streamed in firefox.
I tried to install the plugin manually out of the quicktime file, but it seemes as though the plugin was not downloaded with the player.
Did I do everything right? what is going wrong?

Snow Leopard update 10.6.4 included an update to 7.6.6 (if installed). You can install it from the above link even though it says for 10.6.3. It's the same version of QuickTime Player 7.6.6.
(Only QuickTime Player 7.6.3 or 7.6.6 can be updated to "Pro".)
The page loads fine for me, but it takes a ittle while before it does so after the Quicktime icon shows.

Passing data values to all the view without inbound plugin

I am in a complex situation.
Scenario is as below.
I have 4 views say A, B, C, D
when user click Continue on view A he goes on B and so on... Most of the Context created are in COMPONENT CONTROLLER and is being used in Views .
This is already existing program.
Now I have created a popup on view A which shows an TABLE with some entries if user selects a record and clicks ok we want all the views to have some values that this row contains.
For more explanation supoose B is having address then address from table row should be appear on view B when user clicks on continue button of A.
STEP:
A user get popup, he selects a record and clicks on OK on popup , pop up closes and he is now on screen A, he clicks on continue button and B should have the address already filled with the selected row data.
How can we do that I dont want to disturb and uotbound plugin which is existing.

Data can be shared between controllers using
1. Context
2. Controller Attributes
Context:
To share the data between different controllers of the component. Create a NODE( MATERIAL ) in the component controller and define context mapping with views, where data needs to be shared.
Controller Attribute:
Define ATTRIBUTE( Materials ) in the component controller--> Attributes tab. set the data selected record to the attriibute of the component controller and read the data, in the respective controllers.

Publishing web gallery without .Mac

I finally have my portfolio all set up the way that I want it and would like to publish it. I don't want to have to use .Mac (and since it's replaced by MobileMe now). Is there a way that I can publish this portfolio using a free hosting server?

In Aperture, Web Pages or Web Journals can be uploaded to any host site. The Web Gallery function, however, is limited to .Mac use; this is due to functions that are performed on the server and which are specific to .Mac.
