Are you hitting the "fn" key once after finishing dictation?
When you are finished dictating and the dictation feature closes down do you hear a single beep or two?
Also, go to System Preferences> Dictation and check if the microphone icon is illuminating in a variable fashion as you speak.

HAVOK, And all other xtras don't work in the Mac version
Just tested the new Director. Another amazing leap forward,
well not, it's the same spot they've been in since 8.5. And
although they effectively keep releasing the same product, in this
version the xtras, Havok included, don't work in the mac version.
They do on the pc. I wonder if this means that the havok based
games won't work in shockwave 11 on the mac. I make games, with 15
million plus a year playing them. It's annoying.
HAVOK, DIRECTxtras, ASFFT and a few others I've tested. Any
other comments?
Also speed wise, 3d is much better but everything else plays
at same speed.If you are not on a PPC Mac, then none of the PPC xtras will
work until
the developer compiles them as Universal binaries. In the
case of
Havok, that is unlikely to happen, which is why they have the
new Aegia
engine instead. For other 3rd party xtras, talk to the
manufacturer and
see if they have a UB version available. Many of them were in
on the
beta, so they may have new versions up now. -
The Game Center used to work with my Apple ID before I updated to iOS 7.4, I used to play multiple player with EA Real Racing 3 game but it doesn't work at all and every time I tried to go to the Game Center it's just blank, even to the settings nothing!
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Go to Settings>Game Center and sign out and sign back in
- Reset all settings

Please describe the problem in as much relevant detail as possible. The "etrecheck" fad hasn't made that step any less necessary. The usual results of posting etrecheck output on this site without a full description of the problem are very poor.
The many "failed" warnings that etrecheck sometimes spews mean nothing. Those warnings are not a reason to reinstall the OS, or to do anything else at all. They should be ignored.
The better your description of the problem, the better the chance of a solution.
For example, if the computer is slow, which specific actions are slow? Is it slow all the time, or only sometimes? What changes did you make, if any, just before it became slow? Have you seen any alerts or error messages? Have you done anything to try to fix it? Most importantly, do you have a current backup of all data? If the answer to the last question is "no," back up now. Ask if you need guidance. Do nothing else until you have a backup. -
i have a mac osx version 10.6.8 no windows installed and i am trying to install a program but keep getting can not run in dos mode ( the disk says on back works on intel mac with parallels or vm fusion) is this program not compatible with my mac?
You run Windows in Parallels or Fusion. Then in Windows you install the program.

I have a CC Photography License and tried loading the new Lightroom cc but it will not open (only flashes the welcome screen for a split second) then goes blank. I tried uninstalling it, rebooting, etc. several times and it will not work on my Mac with Yosemite. Please help!

Before that i've seen error (-50) in iTunes, so i reset ipod.
I've read all tips on this site, but nothing helps me.No, USB works good. I've tried reset on my friend's PC, and it saw my ipod and reset was done. But when i tried to load music, it wrote me, that i've installed incorrect software.

Ok I have an fully upgraded iPad 2 and the volume button don't work but it do with headphones can someone help. I try to go to settings and the volume won't go up there either I have the home button gesture and still the same. I try resting my iPad and nothing no sound work unless I have my headphones in. Do anybody know how to fix this
Did you try rebooting the iPad? You will need to have some battery power for this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

If I buy a mac with mountain lion and then upgrade to mavericks will I get iWork for free.
If you buy a new Mac with Mountain Lion, any included software is free and can be redownloaded from AppStore for that machine only. Some software only gets reinstalled if OS X (only) gets installed over itself to fix issues. See #8 Step here.

If you upgrade to Mavericks usually only OS X itself is changed (sometimes the hidden User Library is also), all the software (and user accounts) also carries over (compatible or not), and Apple's software is upgraded.
So if your new Mountain Lion Mac comes with free iWork, then when you upgrade to Mavericks it will still be there.
If your new Mountain Lion does not come with free iWork, then it won't magically appear for free if you upgrade to Mavericks.
If you need a free Office suit, I suggest you look at the donationware LibreOffice.
You will likely need to control key or right click to "Open" LibreOffice to approve through OS X's "Gatekeeper".
You will need to manually update it also, as it's not on AppStore.

Benefit of LibreOffice is it's completely cross-platform compatible, so you can share working files with Windows and Linux users, which you can't with iWork.
You also should learn Microsoft Office when you have the funds, because it's standardized in the business world. -

Boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down) and try the following in order as needed:
1 - select Disk Utility and repair both the disk and disk permissions. Reboot normally.
2 - reinstall the Mavericks system.

Hello. I am running Photoshop CC 2014 on a MAC with OSX LION. I also have Photoshop CS6 installed. When I double-click on a file in Bridge CC, it always opens in CS6. If I say "OPEN WITH Photoshop CC 2014", or if I drag the file directly to CC 2014 in the Dock it will open in CC. Since I like to double-click or hit return in the bridge, I am constantly having to wait until the file opens in CS6, quit CS6 an then open it another way to get it into Photoshop CC 2014. I tried to disable CS6 by hiding it, but then double-clicking Bridge did nothing. Any ideas why this is happening?
Check and adjust the File Type Associations in the bridge cc preferences.

diskutil list
Press return.
If it sees the disk, note the number of the disk (far left column) you want to mount.
Then, enter this command:
mount /dev/(number of disk)
Put in the number no parenthesis.
Press Return.
If that doesn't wortk try the same with this command...
mount force /dev/(number of disk)
