Game Center Question about WiFi

Does anyone know if you can play games with someone connected to the same WiFi as you? I've read about port forwarding requirements and that seems to indicate you cannot since you can't forward a port to multiple IPs.
I have tried to paly a game with another ipod in the house and game requests never reach either IPOD.

Make sure that there is a tick next to your wifi network of choice. This is under Settings>Wi-Fi>
If there is no tick the Wi-Fi will be on but not connected.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Sign out of your GameCent ID and then sign back in
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

  • Game Center question

Ok, I made a major fail when I set up my iPad and game centre and created a new Apple ID. I use another ID for my purchases which register in the game center just fine.  Is there any way I can change my ID to my purchasing ID in the Game Center and keep all my current game settings?  Thanks in advance guys.

Ok, so I made a new AppleID and I'm fine when I sign into game center, so I looked up the game app I wanted which was Temple Run and it asked for my AppleID password but it didn't have the right AppleID Email so even when I put the password in it wouldn't let me get the temple run app because the Email was wrong, can someone tell me how to change the Email (username) when they ask for my password so I can get Temple Run? Please and Thank you

  • A dumb question about wifi...

I'm not as 'literate' as some are when it comes to computer technology...but here is the question...If I walk into a place that has wifi and my iphone is set with wifi ON, how will I know if there is a charge for using the wifi? Will my iphone automatically kick into the wifi or will there appear an invitation to pay a fee to connect...and how do you pay and do you have to have a password and if so, how do you get that? I know....dumb question...Thanks.

Not a dumb question at all.
First of all, set your iPhone up like this:
    1) Go to Settings on the main screen (looks like gears)
    2) Click on "Wi-Fi" (second option from the top)
    3) At the bottom of this page (Which should say "Wi-Fi Networks" at the top) turn "Ask to Join Networks" to the "ON" position.
Now when you walk into a place that has Wi-Fi, your iPhone will display a little window that asks you whether you want to join the network or not.
In some places, you may even see a list of more than one Wi-Fi network to join. This is quite common in New York City. The reason is because so many people have Wi-Fi in there apartments, and they all live so close together, that sometime your iPhone can detect multiple networks. The coffee shop near my apartment has their own network, but I can also connect to the Wi-Fi network in my apartment because I only live about 50 feet away.
Anyway, when you see the list of Networks to join, you may notice a little padlock symbol next to some of them. This means these are closed networks that require a password to connect to. (My network is "Closed", ie requires a password so that everyone in the coffee shop next door doesn't use my internet).
Networks that DO NOT have the little lock symbol are "Open" which means you can join them without a password. But there is a catch... A lot of coffee shops have open networks, but as soon as you try to browse the web, they redirect your browser to their own page, no matter what web address you enter. Basically, they are letting you connect to their network without a password, but not letting you browse the internet without giving them some money.
So (as the previous poster said) the page that the coffee shops redirects you to, usually has instructions, and of course a place to put in a credit card. Once you do all that, then you can browse the internet without getting redirected to their little payment page. Its sort of confusing because you don't need a password to connect to their "open" network, but you do need one to browse any web pages. How you get the password differs from coffee shop to coffee shop, but usually they give it to you right inside your web browser once you give them your credit card number.
T-Mobile provides wireless for Starbucks (at least in a lot of places they do). So once you have an account with t-mobile, you can use it in any starbucks or "T-mobile hotspot"
Now this all sounds kind of complicated, but more and more these days, you can just walk into a place, find an open network (one without a lock next to it) and start browsing without being redirected or dealing with credit cards. Basically these places are providing free internet to try to attract customers.
    Good luck
P.S. Wi-Fi eats up battery life. If you aren't going to be using it to browse web pages, you can go into settings, then Wi-Fi, and turn Wi-Fi off. This will save you battery life, but you have to remember to turn it back on. Even without Wi-Fi on, you can still browse the internet if you see a little "E" at the top of your screen. The E stands for the AT&Ts Edge network, which isn't as fast as Wi-Fi, but covers pretty much everywhere that your phone can get a signal.

  • Questions About WiFi Interference

I'm having connectivity issues. I upgraded to an 'n' router about 3-4 mos. ago (a Belkin N300) and was experiencing intermittent connectivity with my MBP and iBook G4, while my work computer (Windows) has had no issues.
Switching to channel 11 seemed to take care of it for a couple of months, but the issue came back about 2 weeks ago. I've read through the support article about troubleshooting interference issues. And yet, it seems odd that the Windows machines are running without a hitch. So here are my questions:
Is it common for channel interference to impact computers/ OS differently or is there something else going on?
Short of switching to a dual band router, like the AEBS, is there something else I could/ shoud do to fix this problem?
(Assuming I need to get a dual-band router, any recommendations are appreciated.)
    Thanks

    Much obliged, Aussie.
Well, I'd say yes to that. Based on the fact that they might be in different locations physically, therefore be closer / further away from the interference.
We do have cordless - one about 8 ft. away from where the MBP usually sits -but I've used the PCs in the same space and the close proximity of the phoneshas never been an issue for them (not to beat a dead horse).
And for what it's worth, I've not noticed any correlation between theconnectivity issues and where the computer is sitting. Right now I'm sitting roughly20' away from the phone and still having connection issues where it will completely drop the connection and then comes back on its own after several minutes. I think the onlyother potential source of interference in this room is an old WinXP desktop that we hardly ever turn on.
So if it's not dual-band, I'm presuming that you have it set to 'n compatible, so it will slow down to g if some g device connects to it? Force it onto n.
Right now I have the router set to compatibility with b, g & n though the only 'g' computer we have in the house is my old iBook G4, which is rarely connected, much less used. Taking your advice would require getting a new 'n' adapter for the iBook, right? That is, unless I upgraded to a dual-band.
And I'll just have a guess and say that you have cordless phones lying around the house. Remove them. Isolate anything outputting frequency.
Doing away with the cordless phones doesn't seem likely to go over too well, so will probably upgrade to a dual band router.
Once again, thanks for your guidance.

  • Question about WiFi with a Satellite Pro 4200

Has anyone already connect a wifi card on a Satellite Pro (W98)? Please let me know type of PCMCIA, etc ... Alternatively wired connection to Lan.
    Thanks

    Hi
As far as I know you can use any types of PCMCIA WiFi card on your unit.
Sometimes you have to install the drivers or any Utilities from the PCMICIA Wireless card manufacturers. Please check some websites in Google. There you can find many attractive offers for WiFi cards.
    Best regards

  • A(nother) question about wifi.

When I go to my wifi connection, then the blue arrow, under the DHCP heading, right down the bottom, there's a button that says 'renew lease'.
What is it for? I really want to press it but I don't think I should.

A device such as an iPod touch or computer receives an IP address from a router for a specified period, which is referred to as a lease. Pushing that button causes the duration of that lease to be extended; it will normally happen when the lease is close to expiry. Pushing that button probably won't have any effect.

  • Questions about Wifi

Where I'm at (until they get the cell tower fixed, it was hit by a tornado) cell service is poor. On a good day, I might have 3 bars but it usually hovers around 1 bar. Makes browsing really slow. Now this might be my imagination (please tell me if it is) but when I turn my wifi on (I have dsl with a router and have set my phone up for it) browsing speed goes faster so I'm assuming I'm browsing on wifi rather than network connections. (I also do have a data plan) Am I correct in assuming all of this?
That being said, when I leave home and I know there is no wifi available I try to remember to turn the wifi off because I'm afraid if my phone is looking for a wifi connection, it will be hard on the battery. Am I correct in this assumption?
I might have this phone figured out in a lifetime or so. Tell you what, technology needs to slow down. My old brain can't keep up.

  • Multiple game center accounts - ios 7.0.4

I have an iPad 2 with ios 7.0.4 and my wife has the same.
We enjoy playing a few of the same game together and would like to be friends in the games.
When we first set up her iPad, we just used my apple id for the setup.
I am now unsure how to decouple her ipad from my ipad while still keeping one Apple ID for purchases.
In particular, i ran into the following problem.
I created a new Apple ID for my wife to use to login to game center. It allowed her to login and specify a new nickname. However, when i went back to my ipad, her nickname showed up in my game center. When i looked closer, this is what i saw
My iPad: game center settings showed my Apple ID email but showed my wife's nickname for game center
Wife's iPad: game center settings showed wife's new Apple ID email and showed her new nickname for game center, but had the points for my game center profile
How do we setup her iPad to use her Apple ID for game center but use the primary Apple ID for purchases?

I have a red "1" showing I have a request, how do I accept it? I have my list of friends, I scroll down and see the list of recommendations (which doesn't tell me they are playing my game), but I don't see where to accept the request sent to me.

  • Before I buy an iPad...a question about Wi-Fi

    Hello.
I have a question about WiFi and iPad use.
I am dependent upon Internet access as I am disabled and do all of my shopping and billpaying from home.
I recently had my computer PRAM go bad and became aware that I need a back-up method of accessing the Internet should my iMac go on the fritz again.
I have decided to buy an iPad - but I am not knowledgable about WiFi. I have Internet through Road RTunner via cable and an Ethernet connection, but I doubt there is a local WiFi hot spot available that covers my home.
What method should I use to obtain a home WiFi connection that I can use for my iPad should my computer not be available? Would AirPort fulfill this need? (I do not know if my computer has to be running to use AirPOrt).
IN any event, can anyone offer any advice? Thanks!

An AirPort router should fit this need well- and your computer does not need to be running for it to work. However you do need a running computer to set up the AirPort. Depending on the size of your house, you could get either and Airport Express (for a smaller house) or an Airport Extreme (for a larger house). You could also look at a website such as Best Buy's and buy a router from a different company; Apple routers tend to be more expensive than others. The main advantage of buying an Apple router is that they are usually much easier to set up.
In short, what wifi in your house would do is take your home internet connection and broadcast it wirelessly.

  • Question about Game Center games...

I have a 1st gen ipod so i can get 4.0 but i have 3.1. What im curious about is can i buy games that are from game center but require atleast 3.0 to play? i know if its a game center game and needs 4.0 i cant play it obviously, but if its a game center game and needs 3.0 i can play it right? Just asking because since you can only get the game center (with the folders or w/e) with 4.0. just making sure.
i really want to get angry birds and fragger.

Try launching each game individually(games that have been updated to support game center) so it connects to game center and from that point on it should be added to your game center list.

  • OK I have a question about "game center" Is it possible to log into the game center with a different apple ID, just within the game center and not anywhere else in the phone?

I have 2 Iphones, 1 is a personal phone and the other is a work phone, i will be using my work phone only right away, I have an appointed Apple ID on my work phone and i want to transfer my Clash of clans Village with out having to attach my other apple ID to the phone? So basically can my Game center have 1 Apple ID and my phone use another? Hopefully that makes sense.
