Game controller for Mac & Windows

Hi,
Recommend me a controller for gaming, compatible with both Mac and Windows. I'm thinking default Xbox 360 controller, but Mac support seems a bit poor.

I am looking to purchase a game controller for our Mac for games like Call of Duty 4 and Madden. My son wants the xbox 360 controller and I found online elsewhere (tattiebogle.net) that if I buy that one I have to download a driver for the OS X. Is this correct and is this safe to do? Is there another game controller that will work just as well or better that you would recommend?

Not on Apple's site, but there are hundreds of them elsewhere on the Web.
These forums are for questions about Apple products, and Apple doesn't produce any games. With all the other gaming sites and forums available, Apple has apparently decided not to burden its forums (already the most heavily trafficked ones anywhere on the Web) with gaming. Still, your post here may draw suggestions, so keep an eye on it.

Game controller for MacBook Pro?

Are ANY game controllers made especially for Mac? I have tried the Logitech wired version and the Logitech Rumblepad 2 wireless version and neither seem to work with my G5. I even added USB Overdrive, which recognizes the Logitech controllers, and have tried to set the prefs in various games, but still cannot get them to work when the games launch. Seems like there ought to be some easy, plug-and-play game controller for Mac. Any advice? I am very computer literate, yet cannot seem to accomplish this very basic task: Hook up a game controller (that SAYS it works on Mac OS X) and get it to work. (I called Logitech tech support and they said the controllers should work on a Mac, but their driver software and their tech support do not support use on a Mac. Huh?)

I like the Logitech Gamepad F310 for games on my Mac. You're right new games are much better with a game controller!

May not make a difference anyway. The Logitech support site does not show drivers for Mac OS for the F310:

I'd contact their support to find out if there is a Mac driver available, and if they can either give you a web link to get it, e-mail you the software, or snail-mail you a standard-size disk with the drivers.

Advice on External HDD for Mac & Windows

I am looking for advice regarding using a external HHD for Mac & Windows.
I searched the forum, but failed to find a updated thread on this subject matter.
I will be using the drive on both platforms regularly.
Should i use HFS+ with a small FAT32 partition to keep MacDrive on?
What is a good way to approach this?
Im not sure what would be optimal for both platforms.

Why just one?
Shopping list I can think of:
Vista: NTFS for backups and storage. Can be read by, but not written, Mac OS.
MacDrive 7: can access HFS+ from within Windows (but not x64 versions)
WinClone 1.5: to make backups of Windows from within Mac OS (requires disk image or partition to hold volume image)
SuperDuper: essential for OS X backups and bootable clone.
A drive that is used for emergency only and maybe backup partition, separate from your OS X and windows clone drive.
You can create large partitions with Disk Utility to be FAT32. Read and write in both, but not the best file system and limited to files less than 4GB.
FW800 would be fast and efficient interface. Also, eSATA if possible.

Sounds bit strange to me, if you edit your window and do not want to save your changes then i would not expect this error. assuming that the component does not have activation problem.
Just for making sure.
I assume that your problem is on design time and not runtime.
If it is a design time and problem still exists, try to delete this window, save ,activate and then recreate this window,embed your view(s).
If it is runtime problem then i would suggest you to do debugging and find out where it is getting this error.

Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac ( Windows)

Is Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac ( Windows) a good system to add onto your mac? Or Will it make it slow?

As Ttut says, Parallels runs as an application, so there is absolutely no OS X performance decrease when Parallels is not running.
The good news is that you can download the Parallels 7 Desktop Trial and try it out for a few days before you decide to purchase it: http://www.parallels.com/download/desktop/ (But you still need a full copy of whichever Windows version you will use in order to test Parallels.)
The fastest WIndows performance on a Mac is achieved without Parallels. Use Boot Camp to install Windows and then boot directly into Windows at start-up. It is comparable to running Windows on a similarly-configured Windows PC. But with Boot Camp, you must reboot to switch back and forth between OS X and Windows.
But if you absolutely MUST use both Windows AND OS X applications at the same time, Parallels can do it. Both Windows performance and OS X performance are diminished by about 50% when both operating systems are running at the same time. Processor-intensive applications like graphics, photo, and video editing suffer the most noticeable performance hit. Text editing applications suffer the least. Online browsing experience depends upon the website visited. Flash-heavy websites suffer a lot.
Check the Parallels website and be certain that your MacBook has enough free hard drive space and enough RAM.

Game controller for intel Mac pro

Any suggestions for a game contoller for an intel Mac pro? I've had no luck with tatieboggle or with the Logitech f710 wireless. Running latest system. Thanks!

For three years I have been trying to get a reliable connection with the F710 for each OSX update. The macgamepads.com and tattiebogle.net solutions do not actually work for extended gaming experiances. In short OSX is lacking REAL controller support. And as long as I have had my Mac Pro it has always been that way.
There is a reason why people don't play games on Mac. I have a SSD drive dedicated entirely to Windows 8 Bootcamp because playing even the most simplistic game on a Mac is a god **** nightmare. You want the F710 to work? Get a PC or run Bootcamp - DON'T PLAY GAMES IN OSX.

What's the best game controller for a MacBook Pro?

I have a mid-2012, non-Retina, 13" MacBook Pro with a 2.5 Ghz i5 and 8 GB of RAM. My current OS is 10.9.1. I've played Starcraft 2 for some time without any problems, but there are a few newer games on the Mac App Store that look like they'd be no fun with a keyboard and mouse. I'm hoping people here have recommendations for the best game pads or controllers that are compatible with Mac.

Slideshows which work for Mac, Windows AND ipads/iphones???

Hi.
My first post here & just getting into mac after many decades of windows!!
After much searching around I have finally found a place (Yola) where I can design a website which is compatible with all browsers/mac/windows..hurray.
However, due to the type of work that I do I need to display 50 photos (before/after). I want to do this with a slideshow. I have made up around 8 from different sites but each time there's a compatibility problem with ipads or iphones (but no problem with mac/windows/nokia smartphone).
Is there a slideshow (FREE) which will work across all platforms? Is iphoto the only way - and will that work with windows and is there a free version.
Finally, the website design software uses 'widgets' to place code into the site for photos/slideshows etc etc.
Any help would really be appreciated!
