Game streaming windows - mac

Hey Guys,
i want to stream my games from Windows to my macbook air. Splashtop and Steam works fine, but have problems with the keys (don't recognize wasd but i can write with them.....) i tried windowed mode at games but it don't help. Do you have any suggestions or alternatives? I'm using Mavericks and Win 7. Thank you

In the following page regarding Mac gamepads:
http://www.apple.com/games/gettingstarted/peripherals/index2.html
there are two specific controllers that according to Apple that are supported in OSX without additional software including:
• Mad Catz GamePad Pro Series 400
• Logitech Rumblepad 2
I checked and as you said, Logitech makes no claim of support for the Rumblepad 2 on Mac. Mad Catz does list the Pro Series 400 as a PC/Mac controller and it is available from the Apple Store

  • Need some urgent help // Streaming windows and Mac Pro

    HI ,
I have a nice "issue" here.
At present I am in a project.
We save the video images and sound by capture in FCP PRO with Mac Intel. Ans next to that using a Windows PC to stream live to internet.
We send the video by using a converter from analog to digital using S-video in and out Firewire. (from the converter).
After the converter we send the the firewire signal to a belkin hub to distribute to Mac and PC.
Evenrything goes fine. But the MAc responds to the PC and the Mac to the PC . When the PC blocks (the image for streaming) the Mac stops capturing. When I (the Mac) cancel capturing the PC stops streaming
PLease assist if you can .. how to handle. we guess that the hub creates the issues ...
Should we use a more link switch ? like a network switch ?

Our video runs through a video switcher which then outputs the signal to a PC (live streaming) and into a DRS-11 DV deck for recording as well as converting to FW which goes into the Mac for a live capture (redundancy) as well.
    <
Yar, you want deal with the VIDEO, not the data stream, which is what you get on FW.
Use a video/audio distribution amplifier to send duplicate versions of your program video and audio content to two or more different encoding/processing systems.
Your boss/clients are not going to understand the technical requirements if they're Web geeks. Try this: If you want two copies of the same book, you don't use a copier. You buy two copies from the printer. You can't use a copier to distribute copies of a book in real time; each page has to be scanned and copied, one at a time, and they have to be collated separately. Anything that interrupts the process, like pulling out the stacks to staple them into, say, chapters (or insert your own metaphor here), causes the copier to stop since it can no longer knows the collation is correct.

  • How do I install a game on the mac pro?

I cant figure it out. I'm trying to install half life 2. Can someone help me. And how do u know if you can play a game on a mac without downloading windows?

Without downloading Windows? Err, Half-Life 2 is a Windows game
Anyway, for HL2 there actually is a solution that does not require Windows.
    You can get Crossover Mac:
    http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxmac/
(Note you have to pay for this product -- it's like $50), and it lets you run some Windows apps on the Mac (NOT all of them... as it only emulates some Windows APIs). As it turns out, HL2 is actually one of their supported apps... I actually think it is the ONLY supported game (how fortunate for you . It's worth a try.
Otherwise, it's Boot Camp and a Windows install for you.

  • How can I install pc games on a mac

I want to play Counter strike, gunbound, age of empires or battlefield 3, How can I play those games?

    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  For Boot Camp 4.0 and above you can only use Windows 7 or later. Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusion and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is an Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that VirtualBox, Parallels, and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • Un-remove games in game center on mac?

    Hello everyone. I need help!!
I accidentally removed sky gamblers - storm raiders from game center on my mac. I dont know how to un-remove it! I want it back cause I am one of the best in the game and I want my stats in game center. I still have the game on my mac but I also want to be able to play matches online with other people using gamecenter.
I already tried the usual stuff: deleating and reinstaling, signing in on a diffrent computer and re dowloading,
So I basicly need to know how to get my game back into gamecenter.
    PLEESE HELP!!!
    Thank you.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
In the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the crashed process. The report name starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Is it possible to run popular contemporary games in any Mac?

Yah the thing is, I am going for MAC PC, at least it is in my mind but kids are very fond of latest games, windows games can't be played in mac but is there a way available?
    Thank and Regards
    Michael (Mike) Kossar.

The obsolete pre-2006 Mac towers this forum covers pretty much can't run any current software, games or otherwise. CellarDweller's comment about Boot Camp does not apply the the Macs in this forum either. That requires a 2006 or later Mac.
If you tell us what model Mac you are considering, we can get you moved to a forum when you can find more info on what game do and don't work.
For a start however, many popular games for the PC platform were ported to Mac and released by another company specializing in support Mac games. For a number of popular game titles available on Mac, please see:
    http://www.aspyr.com/categories/mac-games
    http://www.feralinteractive.com/en/mac-games/alphabetical/
I have tested a lot of games on my Macs and can give you two tips:
    1) Don't get a notebook computer for gaming. They have limited room for cooling fans, often have scaled-back graphics hardware, and will run hot with a risk of premature failure.
    2) Don't get an "entry-level" anything. Entry level Macs usually come with integrated graphics that may be OK for simple games but not for the big games.

  • PC GAMES ON INTEL MACS???  Is it possible?

Is it possible to play PC games on an intel mac yet? In theory it should work since you can run it as a PC. I want to play that Battlefield 2142 game very badly.
Please tell if you know it's possible. Thanks.
    Imac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

If you're going to run a PC Game on a Mac, first I'd advise you to find out if the game is compatible with Mac, some great games like Warcraft 3 and the whole Blizzard game library since Starcraft offer an OS X installer that you can download from Battle.net, other large publishers have begun doing this as well, Domm 3, Half-Life 2, Call Of Duty 2, all run on Mac. However, there a some games that will most likely miss Mac, EA for example has never done a game for Mac, their latest C&C Generals was ported some 2 years after it's release for windows, also C&C 3 Tiberium Wars will be PC-only. Go here for more info http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/ to find out what it is, and then here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303572 for instructions on how to install it.

  • Steam games on a Mac computer???

    Hi,
Not being computer literate, I need help please. My son bought my husband a game called 'Empire: Total War' which is a Games for Windows DVD. When trying to install the game, the following message appears:
    Warning Mac Users
If you are attempting to run Steam and Steam games on a Mac computer with a Windows emulator, DO NOT use this process as your OS may no longer recognize your hard drive. Please consult Apple Support for instructions on safely converting your hard drive.
I have looked at the Apple Support pages but there is so much to wade through that I have given up and thought I would ask instead.
Does anyone know what I am supposed to do? I would be VERY grateful to hear from you.
    Many thanks,
    Merrian

Your Mac can install Windows on the hard drive, by setting aside and making spare for a Windows partition using Boot Camp and Boot Camp Assistant (in Utility folder, inside Applications).
    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
Read the FAQ, and the PDF guide you cna print/save from inside Boot Camp Assistant.
I'd suggest planning on version of Windows, size of volume (depends on how much space is available), but first and foremost: BACKUP first. Then consider if it is worth all the effort. Or get a PC low end model just for gaming.

  • Can i run games for windows in bootcamp?

so can i run games for windows in bootcamp? and will they work properly?
    thanks a lot!!
i'm sorry, i posted it here...it should be in "using OS X"...

Well I'm not to sure by what you mean "Which games run on Mac". There are not many that run on Mac that are that great although there are a few. Mostly for any great games you would need to run Boot Camp. Keep in mind though that you still need a version of Windows, so if you don't have one laying around somewhere you still have to buy that. Here is a link for your Mac games.
    http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_mac/software/games?mco=MjQzNDc3OQ&s=t opSellers
    Hope this helps.
If you are wondering about Windows games that you may be looking for I only currently have Left 4 Dead which I have to say is an amazing game! I really don't have many games so I can't help to much in good ones.

  • Are there any good strategy games only for macs?

If so what are their names and would you recommend them?
If not what strategy games would you recommend for an SR mac book with 4 GB of ram? And 2.2 GHz

Games in Mac, well, suck. It's disappointing, especially when developers do a 3rd-rate job of brining existing PC games over to X.
I have the same MacBook as you, napoleon. Here's the kicker - Your Intel X3100 video drivers are BETTER in Windows than it is in Leopard. Even the dock in Leopard is choppy. Makes me regret my MacBook purchase at times (though so many other positives!).
It saddening that you can't avoid Windows, especially when you only want to play a few games.
My suggestions for RTS games for Windows:
    Company Of Heroes: Opposing Fronts
    Age of Empires
(as said) C&C3, it's a fantastic game, and an amazing series. You can't go wrong with Command and Conquer.

  • Why does my iMac temperature go up when running games through Windows using BootCamp?

    Hey guys,
These are my current specs: iMac 27 inch, intel i7 quad core 3.5 ghz, 16gb ram and 1tb sata hardrive with nvidia gtx 780m.
Ive installed windows on my mac and have discovered that when running games the temperature is much higher. For the same game on Windows i've had my CPU run at 80-81 C on roughly all cores and my GPU temp went up to 85 C. On mavericks same game runs at temps of 58 C for CPU and 71 C for GPU. However on mavericks the frames rates are lower even when running same settings as on windows.
I tend to think that mavericks is somehow limiting my hardware in order to keep the temperature down whereas on windows on my mac I can really feel the kick of the system yet the temperature goes really high. Is there any way to sort this out?

gpu driver optimising is much more used in windows it give better fps but less stability and as you notice more heat and more noise as the fans work harder
lower the eye candy and resolution is a cure

  • Problem with games in windows

I'm having a problem running games, and I can't figure out why it's happening or how to fix it. I'm using a base model Macbook, about three weeks old, running Windows XP Home...first with SP2, now with SP3. I had gb of RAM, but I dropped it back down to the stock RAM to see if maybe a bad stick was causing the problem. No performance drop in the games, so I'm leaving it that way for the time being. This is my second Macbook, and my first was replaced due to a pletora of other problems. It didn't do this, though.
Randomly in games, I get a blue screen and the computer shuts down. This is the error I get:
Error code 000000ea = "THREADSTUCK_IN_DEVICEDRIVER" - A device driver is spinning in an infinite loop, most likely waiting for hardware to become idle. This usually indicates problem with the hardware itself, or with the device driver programming the hardware incorrectly. In many cases this is the result of a bad video card or a bad display driver.
Mainly the game I'm running is Phantasy Star Universe, which worked perfectly fine on my old Macbook, which was also a base model, but a couple generations older. It had the Intel GMA 950 chipset, where the newer one has the Intel GMA 965 chipset. The game actually runs slightly worse than it did on the old machine, but the game by no means pushes the Macbook to it's limits. Anyway, from anywhere between 10 to 40 minutes into the game, it'll blue screen. It's not just this game, though, it's done it elsewhere, but not nearly as frequently as when playing the game. I also have to point out that I don't run anything else when playing the game. I intentionally shut down everything that's not important when I run games, to avoid any conflicts.
I've tried a number of different versions of Intel's drivers, and played with the settings, gradually downgrading it's performance. I've tried re-intalling the game, changing settings in the game, reinstalling windows, updating windows, changing my ram. I'm grasping at straws here, and I don't know what's to blame. I want to point my finger at bad drivers, or bad hardware. I' blame the game if it behaved the same way on my old Macbook. I initially thought it was the game, because it kept happening in the same areas, but I proved it to be coincidence. The hardware isn't THAT different. From what I've been told, the graphics chipset in the newer Macbook should perform a lot better than it does, but Intel's drivers are kind of...blah. But are they blah enough to cause chronic issues? If it IS a driver issue, at this point the only solution is to wait for Intel to update them and hope the problem is fixed. I'm extremely paranoid about it being a hardware issue, due to my experience with my old Macbook.

Just a thought, but what if its spyware or a trojan horse?/Virus?
    e-mail me back k?
in the game of world of warcraft, the game's configurations make it easier to catch a virus from other people. Games like that can sometimes bypas the firewall.
Let me know when you find out k?
    I hope i've helped.
