Gamer's Club Unlock isn't unlocked ...

I pre-ordered some games on BestBuy.com recently and also purchased the Gamer's Club sub. I recieved a card in the mail and was instructed to bring it to the store in order to have it activated in my account. On the back of the card, there was a yellow strip instructing the cashier to peel it off and use the barcode underneath. So, I brought it into the store and they had no idea what I was talking about. They scanned it and asked me for $30. I explained that I already paid for it. They said they had never seen anyone bring in a Gamer's Club card that they received online and couldn't get it activated. I ended up at the Customer Desk, where they still could not activate it. A manager came over eventually and overrode the cost to $0 so that it could be added to my account without charging me again. I was informed that I should be all set at that point.
So....I should have checked if I was all set, because I went to pre-order Fallout 4 and the discount will not apply.
I called BestBuy customer service and was told that it was because I had an old account that that they needed to be merged before anything else could be done. However, they said they were having issues and could not currently merge my accounts. So, I called back again and the next person I spoke with said that my Gamer's Club got linked to my BestBuy credit card (even though on my receipt it specifically shows my Reward Membership #) so once my accounts were merged it would be fine. They proceeded to merge my accounts. I should be all set right? Nope.
So I called a third time. On my third call I was told that after my accounts were merged it would take 7 to 10 days for my Gamer's Club to show up. That makes absolutely no sense to me. So far, I feel as though I have just been given excuses and brushed off rather than having my issue fixed. It's a service I paid for, and I'm not reviewing it.
Anyone have any thoughts or similar issues?

Hello BradMH-
I’m truly sorry to hear about the troubles the store was having trying to activate your Gamers Club Unlocked membership as well as the complications of having to merge your accounts, it certainly sounds frustrating!
I’ve looked over the case notes as well as your purchase history and I think I see the issue.  It appears that the store resold you the Gifting card option again, rather than the in-store SKU for the GCU membership.  In that case, it won’t matter when your accounts are merged, there still won’t be an activated GCU membership to attach to your My Best Buy membership.  If you could, can you send me a private message with the Customer Service Pin from the receipt that they rang up for $0?
You can send me a private message by logging into the forum and clicking on the button across from my name on this post.
Thanks!

  • Bought Gamer's Club Unlocked but it doesn't seem to be activated

Hello! I would like to ask for a rep for help, back on Dec 21th, I bought a Gamer's Club Unlocked subscription but it seems it was only brought and not registered into my MyBestBuy account. Noticed this as I reserved a game yesterday and didn't notice anything different on my receipt.
Sadly, the receipt on which I bough my GCU account is missing but maybe something can be done by giving more information to a moderator like both number accounts and the date and place of purchase. Thank you.

    Hello SsbCandidates,
I see that enuf has provided information in regards to the Gamers Club Unlocked membership and the "Gifting" option.  Unfortunately, if you've purchased the "Gifting" version of the program, then you're going to have to go back to the store to have the item exchanged for the correct item.
I'll be happy to locate your receipt to provide to the store location.   I'm sending you a private message.  Make sure you’re logged in, and click on the envelope icon on the upper right-hand corner of the page to check your forum inbox.
Thank you for reaching out to us and I look forward to hearing from you.

  • Gamer's Club Unlocked Status not showing up online

    Good afternoon,
A few weeks ago, I ordered the Gamer's Club Unlocked card online for $30 and had it shipped to me. I then took it into a Best Buy to get it activated to my Best Buy account. Two hours later (and after the staff had spoken to managers and the online support), they still could not figure out how to activate the Gamer's Club Unlocked card and scanned in another one to try to activate that one on my account. The staff member then said it would take a few hours to register, and just gave me the 20% off of the games I was purchasing that day.
However, I logged on today to see if my Gamer's Club discount was active on my account, and it does not appear to be. Some help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello houstonkimrey-
I’d like to say welcome to the My Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked group of elite gamers, but it sounds like you’ve run into some troubles at the store level getting your membership activated properly.
Regrettably, I can only direct you back to the store for assistance with getting the membership properly activated.  If the store follows the directions on the back of the card, it should be a simple process and should the store need assistance, they have a support line they can contact to help bridge the gap in their knowledge.  You may even want to show them this post to help them out, should they need it, though they should be aware of this support line.
I can confirm that your Gamers Club Unlocked has not been properly activated on your account, so I would recommend returning as soon as you can to the store.  I apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause you.
Please let us know how things go!

  • Account Migration and Gamer's Club Unlocked

Long and bitter post alert, apologies in advance for the wall of text.
Somehow, I ended up two my Best Buy accounts - one of them ElitePlus, one normal with a Gamer's Club Unlocked subscription (apparently I shop at Best Buy alot, but given my recent experiences, I am starting to rethink that decision).
I called the Best Buy call center who started the process to combine them and they informed me that it would take up to 7 business days. During the account migration process, I was told I would not be able to use my Gamer's Club Unlocked benefits during the migration period. Annoying, but understandable.
8 business days later, I called back to check the status. After being abruptly placed on hold so the associate could "research," I was told I was mistaken, that the account migration process could take up to 10 days and that I would simply need to wait. Not wanting to argue, I accepted that I would just need to wait.
Coincidentally, I was notified just hours later that the migration was complete. When I logged on to check my account, I saw that my Unlocked subscription wasn't listed. When I tried to get the discount on a new game online, I was unsuccessful. Again, I called the call center and confirmed that the Unlocked subscription was no longer linked to my account. To fix this, the case would be escalated to the "back office" who would receive the request in 96 hours, and then need 1-2 business days to complete the request. I truly don't understand how something like this couldn't be fixed with the click of a button, especially given the irony that my purchase of Gamer's Club Unlocked is listed in my purchase history, but here I am waiting another 5-6 business days unable to take advantage of my paid membership.
Apparently, I can go in store to the customer service desk, have them call the call center to verify my Unlocked status, and they can manually give me a discount - but honestly, that is a near stupid amount of hassle considering I purchase most games online. Makes me want to continue purchasing games from Amazon, where they can be delivered at the click of the button and customer service reps have actual authority such that it doesn't take 2+ weeks for the mysterious "back office" to fix a simple account error.
TLDR: Got Gamer's Club Unlocked, excited to spend more money at Best Buy, but due to account issues with My Best Buy I've essentially been unable to use my benefits for 2 weeks, and still have another week (or more) to wait. I'm not holding my breath.

    Hello jeffosaurus_rex,
Thank you for being a My Best Buy Elite Plus member.  We greatly appreciate your loyalty.  Thank you too for enrolling in Gamers Club Unlocked.  I am sorry for the confusion that has subsequently taken place, but I'll be happy to help you get that resolved.
I have reviewed your account and I am happy to see our back office team was able to get us to the one yard line in terms of getting your second account cancelled and the previous purchases associated with your valid membership.  I was able to take your account into the end zone and have applied the Unlocked benefits to your Elite Plus account.  You should see this reflected within 24 hours when you log in at BestBuy.com.  Benefits may also take 24 hours to be reflected when making purchases online or in-store.
Thank you for writing in (and putting up with a football analogy!) and thank you for being a Gamers Club Unlocked member.  Please visit us again with any future questions.

  • Re: Gamer's Club Unlock isn't unlocked ...

I bought Gamers Club Unlocked online a few weeks ago and had it activated in store, I'm having the same problem where it isnt showing up on my account. Hopefully it just takes a few weeks to actiave.

    Hello the _SANDMAN_-
I’m glad to hear that you’re now one of us by joining the My Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked program (One of us, one of us!)  It sounds like you may be experiencing some issues with the benefits showing up.
I was able to locate your purchase and it appears that everything was activated correctly as the GCU is appearing on your My Best Buy membership.  The best way to test this is to either log into BestBuy.com and place a new game in your cart to see if the 20% shows up or to stop into your local Best Buy store and have them ring up a new game as a test.
Let me know if you are having any further issues, otherwise, enjoy the benefits!

  • The Right Way in Activating?? * Gamer's Club Unlocked*

Now if I get all of this working... And I pre-order lets say Halo 5.. It comes with a $10 Reward Certificate.. How long after do I get that?  As it would be silly not to by the next game with that. Can it be used on another pre-order game like Fallout 4? If there anything else I should know about the $10 Reward Certs?  Also thank you for answering my question

    Hi JMattes,
First, welcome to the forums! You sure come out swingin’ with the questions.
Joking aside, I can certainly help out with all of your questions around Gamers Club Unlocked (GCU) and some of our gaming promotions, such as Get $10 for pre-ordering certain titles. As far as the actual GCU sign-up goes, a trip to the store is required either way, regardless of purchasing it on BestBuy.com or in-store. So, you may as well just head to the store and do it there! It’s a very straight forward process and the store should easily be able to get you set up.
As for the Get $10 promotion, where you get $10 for pre-ordering certain games; please know this isn’t even a GCU specific promotion. This promotion is valid for anyone who is a My Best Buy member. The $10 is credited to you in the form of 500 My Best Buy points and you generally receive these points 15-20 days after the game is released. Yes, you can use this credit towards future pre-orders, but obviously not right away as you have to wait for the game to release. Here’s a list of current games on the promotion!
Lastly, GCU can be used both in-store, as well as on BestBuy.com. All you need to do is make sure your My Best Buy membership is linked to your BestBuy.com account and you’re set.
I believe this should cover everything. If you end up with more questions, please don’t hesitate to ask! It’s what we’re here for.
    Cheers,

  • Re: Gamer's Club Unlocked Status not showing up online

I am having a similar issue. I did mine through the mail and I went to the store and they scanned my card and did it to where it didn't charge me the $30 in store. I went to my account to check my status the last two days to see if my status changed to the unlock and it hasnt, games I go through checkout to pre-order don't show the 20% off.

    Hi there skiumah85,
The Gamers Club Unlocked membership offers and abundance of awesome benefits, and I don’t know of anyone who isn’t satisfied with the benefits once they get to use it. We’ve done our best to take the feedback we’ve been provided by our customers to make the activation process for the online cards as easy as possible. At this point, it should be ridiculously simple, which makes it even more frustrating to hear that you had trouble and I am sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused you.
Sadly, we do not have a way to activate these remotely. At this time, I would encourage you to return to the store with your card so that we may properly activate your card. If you continue to have trouble with activation after this visit, please do not hesitate to reach out to us!
    Sincerely,

Thank you for being a My Best Buy™ member and game on!

I very rarely, if ever, pre-order games at this point. I have a 33qt storage bin filled almost to the top with games from my backlog on JUST the PS3 as it is. But for the right price I would probably add to that already insane backlog even further.
I'm not saying they should bring back the coupons for the newest of the hot titles. But using them to fire sale some year or two old stuff that is just taking up valuable shelf space wouldn't be that bad of an idea. Maybe they could even get the publishers to offset some of those costs.
It just seems like when they upped the price of GCU and then eliminated the coupons they used to do, the good sale prices went along with them.

  • Gamers club unlocked and best buy account problems

I purchased gamer's club unlocked on 12/22/14 online and went and had it activated in-store on 12/30/14, i did not receive any indication through email or on my account page that gamer's club unlocked was tied to my account, no expiration date showing i am a member no anything to indicate that it actually was activated and tied to my account. Also i did not receive the welcome coupons that were supposed to be given out. If you can provide me with any information to validate that i received what i paid for that would be most appreciated and let me know where my coupons are that would be great. Additionally when i call to find out about the best buy rewards on my account the automated system has 883 points listed for my account hte website says 117 so whats going on here so far i havent been happy with the system and service in place for these programs.

    Hello kbirth,

  • Where should I be able to see my Gamers Club Unlocked?

I bought Gamer Club Unlocked about over 2 weeks ago and I still have not seen it appear in my account rewards overview page. It shows that I got the points for purchasing it but it does not display me as a member. Did I not get fully registered? I did notice that the person who registered me only scanned the first barcide but not the second that is covered by a yellow tape.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Welcome to GCU you`re one of the many new members and trust me there`s alot to the program, I`m a vet and I still learn stuff everyday.
This is the easiest way to ensure you get the 20% discount in-store
1- At the beginning of the transaction have your MyBB card scanned or the phone # attatched to the MyBB account with GCU entered.
2- When processed correctly a popup box/prompt will appear on the cashiers screen staring something like "Welcome Gamer`s Club Unlocked Member", this happens BEFORE you`re required to verify your info on the keypad. There are times when the pc may incorrectly bring up the popup box/prompt for "Gamer`s Club" at that time the transaction needs to start over.
Once the prompt is confirmed everything will then work automatically.

  • Gamers Club Unlocked Renewal Question

Hi Matt, I've been a Gamers Club Unlocked Member since the program started in September of 2011, as well as a pretty consistent Premier Silver( which has now become Elite P'us) member. My Gamer's Club Unlocked membership expires on the 14th of next month, & I was wondering how should I proceed in keeping my membership? Your advise is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mark

    Good afternoon MTSongy,
The Gamers Club Unlocked membership went through some enhancements back in November and is no longer $14.99 per year.  As enuf mentioned, it currently cost $119.99 for a two year Unlocked membership.  We have had a couple promotional offers the past couple weeks that were offering a discount of the membership price, but those offers have expired.  There is always the possibility we could have a similar offer in the future; however, at this moment, the price to be Unlocked is $119.99.

  • Mario party 10 online order missing gamers club unlocked discount

    Hello,
I just noticed on my receipt for my Mario Party 10 preorder that my Gamers Club Unlocked discount was not applied.
The discount was applied to the Kirby WiiU preorder and my preorder of The Order:1886 for PS4 from the same order.
How do I get a refund for the discount?
    Thanks.

    Hello jjnaj,
As our Gamer's Club Unlocked (GCU) membership is typically attached to your My Best Buy account, it'd be odd if your Mario party 10 pre-order didn't receive the GCU discount when the rest of items on the order successfully did. I'm not sure what would be causing the discrepancy you're reporting, so I apologize for any confusion this may have caused.
Upon in-depth review of your online pre-order using the information you supplied when registering for the forum, I was able to see that the game in question was correctly discounted the 20% our GCU provides. However, I have sent you a private message to provide you some additional information regarding your order. You may view it by logging into the forum and clicking on the envelope icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page.

  • Free Version of Gamer's Club

    Hello,
Firstly, I had initially bought the Gamer's Club Unlocked when it was on sale for $30, but after returning to the store twice to try to activate it, I just returned it because of all of the hassle.
I was back at Best Buy again earlier tonight, and was inquiring about the free version of Gamer's Club and tried to sign up for that since I was going to preorder an upcoming game.  After 30 minutes of trying, the employee asked one of her colleagues about it, who simply replied that he didn't even know that there was a free version available.  She then found another employee to help her, and after he tried for another 15 minutes, he simply concluded and told me that Best Buy no longer offers the free version of Gamer's Club.  I wanted to ask here to see if that were true or not.
After being frustrated with trying to get the Gamer's Club Unlocked and giving up on that, I figured it might still be worth buying my games at Best Buy if I can get the 2x points.  However, the Free Version of Gamer's Club is no longer available either, then there isn't much incentive to buy future games at Best Buy.  So it would be nice to get a definitive answer about this.  Thank you very much.

    Hello xmonkee,
I want to start by thanking you for your interest in joining the Gamers Club program.  I'm not sure why the store would say that because we still offer the free membership and the Unlocked for a fee.  Please return to the store and speak to a manager if necessary.
You can view the options by clicking here.  Again, I apologize for the trouble throughout this process.

  • I'm also missing 2x points from Gamer's Club

I'm a Gamer's Club Unlocked member and I bought Alien Resurrection for Xbox One and didn't get double points. The same thing appears to have happened with Bayonetta 2. It lists I'm going getting 47 points when it should be 94.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi retrogamer76,
Thanks for purchasing your copies of Alien: Isolation and Bayonetta 2 with us! I'm a fan of both franchises myself and am looking forward  to playing both games in the next few weeks.
I've had the chance to review your account and can confirm that the Gamers' Club Unlocked everyday bonus points have been awarded to your account for your Bayonetta 2 purchase. As with the base points for the sale, remember that these can take 15-20 days from the time of pickup or shipment to post. When you can, I'd encourage you to double-check your points history on BestBuy.com.
As far as your Alien: Isolation purchase is concerned, it's possible that the everyday bonus points may not have been applied properly since you enrolled in the GCU program that same day at another location. I've addressed that issue, however, so you should see record of the 2x points in the next 2-3 business days. Again, you'll want to keep an eye on BestBuy.com for updates.
Let us know if you have any other questions.

  • Can't pay off pre-order to join Gamer Club Unlocked in weekly ad?

So I got the Best Buy ad this moring in the paper and saw the "Join Gamers Club Unlocked for $30 when you buy any new game $39.99 or above." Knowing I still had 3 preorders outstanding, I called up the Rewards Zone 866 number and asked them if I would be able to take my preorder in and just pay it in full to satisfy the requirement so I could join. Of course is what I was told and just to take my pre-order receipt into customer service.
I head into Best Buy in Castleton, Indiana (#229) and head to customer service as told with the ad and explain I called the RZ 866 number and they told me to bring it to them. After the lady handling the registered called someone, he told me that it would be no problem and he would just have to cancel my preorder and then to just pull the game card and one of the Gamers Club Unlocked cards and the register would take care of it.
Then that is when everything went South.
I hand the individual the two cards and he proceeds to tell me I could join the GCU for $30 when I buy a game. When I told him I wanted to pay in full for the game he told me I could not do that because "it's two different systems." I explained that I had already spoken to the RZ folks as well as customer service and then he told me "well I should know, I'm the video games guy." I then told him I would just come home and call the RZ folks again, asked for his name and store number which he gave me in a smug tone and I left. As I was walking out the sliding glass doors he said "have a nice day" in a condescending tone. That set me off. I turned and asked the security guy for a manager to complain about the terrible customer service and attitude and the manager was apathetic in helping me. After explaining what I was trying to do, he said he "thought" he could help me. At this point I was overly annoyed so I told him to forget about it and left.
If you look at the add, nowhere does it say you can't pay in full for a preorder game to satisfy the requirement. Obviously it can be done because the folks on the 866 number said it would be no problem and I've seen multiple posts on several video game forums of people doing it at their local store. This is probably the third time in the last year I've had issues with associates at this store on advertised deals. So what gives? Lack of training? Employees that just don't care?
So now my dilemma is do I go to another location to see if they can help me or do I just cancel all of my preorders and find a new retailer?

    Hello Jason,
Enuf is spot-on: since in-store pre-order deposits are not considered to be actual purchases, bundle offers such as our current Gamers' Club Unlocked promotion do not apply. If the title you reserved is released and you pick up your copy while the offer is still in effect, then you would be able to take advantage of the bundle savings during the final sale. Otherwise, you will need to purchase another title $39.99+ to be eligible.
As far as why your thread was moved is concerned, all My Best Buy Gamers' Club-related inquiries -- including those on promotional offers, benefits, and pre-order bonus certificates -- belong in this board. Our In-Store Purchase board is intended as a place for customers to post general policy inquiries, share their in-store experience, and obtain support for existing/prior purchases.
Thanks for your understanding, as well as for taking the time to post!
