Gamers Club Unlocked 10% trade in bonus

I live in Greenville, SC. Went in to the store today to trade in a game and gave all of my info like usual (I trade in a lot). They completed the transaction, but did not give me the 10% bonus. When I asked about it, they very rudely told me that I'm not supposed to get the 10% bonus every time (which was news to me). After a bit of escalation everyone I spoke to told me that we don't get the 10% bonus every time anymore. Is this true or are they all misinformed?
I've had trouble with my card, so I've had to have them cancel and redo the transaction before, but it's always worked with my phone number. Is this a new policy or something?

However, I do apologize as it sounds like you recently ran into an issue and may not have received your 10% Gamers Club Unlocked (GCU) bonus while trading a game in. We want our GCU members to have a uniform, positive experience regardless of which store they visit, and I appreciate your feedback in regards to the Greenville, SC location.
What enuf has said is correct. The 10% trade-in bonus is a perk of GCU, and should be applied to any trade-in you do, regardless of current promotions.     I bought the X-Box One Bundle the night it came out 11/21/13. I am supposed to get 10% off new games and when trading in games.
    I am so frustrated. I spoke with the store manager, they told me to call the reward zone member line. I've called 5 times and have had an open case since March.
    No calls no emails, ridiculous. I think I was also entitled to a gift certificate etc.
    In all case, the Bundle shows up on my receipt but the Gamers Club Unlocked doesn't.
    I have the actual receipt (missing the line item but shows I got the bundle).

    There was no gift certificate offer with the Unlocked Epic Gaming Bundle, but you would be entitled to 20% off all new game purchases and a 10% bonus value on game trade-ins at your local store with a My Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked membership.
    Based on your explanation of the sale, and confirmed by reviewing the receipt,  there was no Unlocked membership sold to you back in November.  This being the case, I'm afraid we would not be able to make that change to your account manually.  Unlocked memberships can only be sold at stores.

    I'm thinking about purchasing gamers club unlock but I wanted to get things clear here. So your saying we get 20% of new games and the minimum is up to 3 games. So let's say I buy a $60 game does that mean I will only have to pay $48?

    I like the way you are thinking.  If you are going to be buying games over the next two years you'll love the perks!  Unlocked members receive 20% off all new games (excluding digital downloads), so a $60 title would be $48 + tax.  There is no limit to how many games you can buy with this discount, but you can only purchase three of the same title using your discount.
    In addition to this, you receive 10% off used games.  If you trade in your games at your local Best Buy store you get double points for every dollar value traded in as well as a 10% bonus on the trade-in value.

  • Haven't received all Gamers Club Unlocked Benefits

    So I've purchased Gamers Club Unlocked back in February, and while I've received new games for 20% off, I didn't receive the 10% bonus trade in credit, 10% off a preowned game, and the two special welcome coupons.     The Gamers Club Unlocked benefits should work online and at the store.  I was able to locate your membership and it appears to be active in our system.    
    It sounds like bobberuchi is trying to see if the issue is with your My Best Buy log in.   I'd like to see if that's the issue as well.  Please try logging out of your account and logging back in.  If this doesn't resolve the issue, then you may need to clear your browsing history or try a different Internet browser.

    Just noticed when trying to pre-order/trade in stuff for NBA 2k15 that my GCU never showed up.  Tried logging into mybestbuy to see my info and my GCU isn't showing up.  I know I had a 2 year one.  Last time I used it for Destiny on Sept. 9th and everything was good. HELP!

  • Gamers club unlocked issue

    Can somebody help me out? I went to another branch of bestbuy since its closer to my place and not to the branch where i purchased my gcu to resolve my issue. I havent gone to the to the retail store where I purchased the gamers club unlocked membership. I apparently got the wrong membership card since I got the gifting option instead of the subscription.
    Last week I tried to trade in my sunset overdrive game but did not get the 10% discount because they said its not in the system. I showed them the receipt and said its weird that i havent gotten it. Its clear to me they dont have any idea how to activate it and even missed the detail that what they gave me was a gifting membership and not the subscription. That is why they cant fix the problem. Also, customer support did something with my membership making it worse, she apparently did an exchange to something I did not receive and now it reflects on your system. I asked a guy in their gaming department to look into my account to see if i was enrolled in the gcu and what he found was i purchased the gifting option and not the membership. Well, its not my fault that they gave me the wrong one.
    I hope you can look into my account so next time i go to the retail store theyll know what to do. Thank you.

This should be a pretty seamless signup experience, so it’s unfortunate to hear that you ran into issues both during your first visit, as well as when you returned to our store.     I was able to locate your purchase history using your email address on file for the forums and I can see what happened here. You are correct that the GCU gifting option was in fact rang up and not the individual membership. Regrettably, this isn’t something we can assist with on the forums, as GCU can only be signed up for in-store.  When you get a chance, you’ll want to return to the store you visited who did the re-ring transaction and have them redo the transaction using the standard GCU membership SKU (3081375). You may wish to bring the physical GCU card up to Customer Service when you visit (there should be a card for the personal membership and one for the gifting option). I would also suggest asking for a manager if needed.

  • Gaming Pre-orders and Gamers Club Unlocked

    Everytime I pre-order a game, I'm charged the full price (minus the deposit) when I go to pick it up. I purchased Gamers Club Unlocked last October and should be getting 20% off until October 2016.
    The first time I tried to use the promotion on a pre-order was last November (less than a month from purchasing the service). I pre-ordered a game that had the 500 Rewards points promotion for pre-order and purchase. When I went to pick up the game, I was charged in full. I told the associate that I had GCU, so he had to adjust the price manually. I'm not sure about all the math but it deducted points from that 500 point promotion. 
    The last time I went to pick up a pre-ordered game was 2 days ago; I also had a $5 reward certificate with me. Once again, 20% was not taken off the purchase so the associate asked for help from a few others. After about 15 minutes and a couple voids. They had to treat the pre-order as a normal purchase and refund me the $5 pre-order deposit. That's fine seeing as there really was no pre-order bonus on this particular item.
    I'm just asking: do I have to go through this everytime I pre-order a game at Best Buy?

    It is strange that you would have such difficulties with receiving your Gamers Club Unlocked benefits if it is appropriately attached to your My Best Buy membership. Receiving these benefts, especially when pre-ordering games, should be a painless process, and I'm sorry to hear it hasn't been for you. 
    Using the information registered with the forum, I see that your Gamers Club Unlocked membership appears to be attached appropriately. With having said that, I'm sorry to say I can't speak as to why you have encountered these issues.
    I do see that when you originally went to pickup your most recent pre-order, that you did receive the Gamers Club Unlocked discount, and that your My Best Buy certificate was applied. However, this transaction left off your pre-order deposit, which led to the chain of reprocessing the transaction a few times to get it sorted out. I apologize for any hassle that this has caused.

  • Issue with Gamers Club Unlocked renewal

    I took advantage of a current promotion to get 2 years of Gamers Club Unlocked for free. My receipt shows the GCU unlocked sku and then shows that the price was adjusted to $0.00 automatically.
    When looking at my account online, it doesn't reflect the additional 2 years as I already had an active GCU membership. I didn't receive any email as well.
    I spoke with a couple of friends that did the same thing and they noted they saw the additional 2 years on their account within minutes.  I'm wondering if the transaction at the register wasn't done right?
    I see the info on my receipt and on mybestbuy.com page when looking at my transactions.
    My GCU membership should expire in 2019 with the additional 2 years that I bought today, but it only shows me 2017 on my profile.
    How do I go about getting this resolved so that my account has the right year listed for expiration?

    The Gamers Club Unlocked membership went through some enhancements back in November and is no longer $14.99 per year.  As enuf mentioned, it currently cost $119.99 for a two year Unlocked membership.  We have had a couple promotional offers the past couple weeks that were offering a discount of the membership price, but those offers have expired.  There is always the possibility we could have a similar offer in the future; however, at this moment, the price to be Unlocked is $119.99.

    I seem to have come across a strange occurrence.  After I bought the My Gamers Club Unlocked Membership, I used it successfully in tandem with the purchase of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD for the PS4, along with the 20% discount for new games.  The next two purchases I made back in April did not apply the 20% discount when I handed over my card to be scanned. Checking the status of your benefits is as easy as logging into your BestBuy.com account and clicking Overview under the ‘Rewards’ tab while at your Account Home page.
    With that said, I dug into your recent GCU purchase and it looks as though you purchased the gifting option from BestBuy.com. You’re going to need to visit a local store and redeem the card so GCU is activated on your My Best Buy membership. As of now, I’m currently only seeing you as a member of the standard Gamers Club, as your previous GCU benefits have expired.
