  • Gamers Club Unlocked never showed up on my account

I purchased an Xbox One on 9/10/2014 during the promotion that included 2 years of Gamers Club Unlocked. Like many others, this did not get applied to my account. I received an email on 9/30/2014 with a coupon to redeem for the Unlocked membership. I took this coupon in on 10/12/2014 and gave the coupon to the cashier while purchasing a controller and a game. She processed the coupon during the transaction (or at least scanned it, I didn't note if she followed the instructions on the coupon). I asked about the 20% off for the game and a manager did a price match at customer service.
I then went in on 10/29/2014 to purchase a new game. Before going to checkout, I went to customer service to ask if they could check on my Unlocked status since it never showed up on my online account. The manager assured me that I was a member of Unlocked. I then went to purchase the game and no discount showed up. The cashier voided the transaction and had me go to customerr service to make the purchase. The manager processed the transaction and did a manual price adjustment for the 20%.
This evening I went in to purchase a new game and again went to customer service first to check on my Unlocked status. The customer service rep told me that there was no way that they could check my Unlocked status and was quite confrontational when I noted that someone had checked my status when I was in the previous week. When I asked if someone else might be able to check the status like the other person did she stomped off an waved another rep my way. The new rep also stated that they could not check my Unlocked status, but she did consult with the manager who told her to just do a price adjustment for the game. He told us that they always have to do the adjustment since the Unlocked rarely shows up during a purchase.
Long story, but I need to find out how to get Unlocked attached to my account. I really don't want to have to go through the expalnation and wait at customer service every time I buy a game. I assume that I've also missed out on some 2X points.
    Thanks.

    Hi rkrlzj,
Thank you for taking the time to sign up for the forum.  You should not have to double check that your Unlocked membership is attached to your My Best Buy™ account every time you decide to make a purchase, so I can understand if you are starting to perhaps feel a bit frustrated.  Let me take a look at your account and see what I can do to help.
The Xbox One console that you purchased on 9/10/2014 was eligible for a free Unlocked membership, which is why you received an email with a coupon for a free membership.  If the store followed the instructions on the coupon, then your Unlocked membership should have appeared in your My Best Buy™ account within about 24 hours.  From everything that I can see, it does not appear an Unlocked membership was attached to your account.
With that being said, I am going to send you a private message so that I can go over your My Best Buy™ account with you and to see what can be done about your Unlocked membership.  You can check your private messages by logging into the forum and clicking on the envelope at the top of  the page.  As far as missing 2X points, that benefit is included with the basic Gamers Club membership, so it does not appear you are missing any points.
I hope you have a great day and game on!

  • My Gamers Club Unlocked membership expiration is still wrong.

I have mentioned this several times and seems nothing has been resolved.
I renewed GCU back in September 2013, about a week after it expired.  I then renew once again sometime in November I think.  That time the GCU was for 2 years as the program had been overhauled.  Therefore my GCU should be until September 2016 yet it still shows 2015 on the MYBB page.
Additionally, I only receive one welcome pack of coupons despite two separate renewals (a 1 year and then 2 year).

    Hi k41,
First, I sincerely appreciate your continued patience in regards to your Gamers Club Unlocked (GCU) expiration date discrepancy. As we’ve stated previously on the forums, this is a well-known issue within our My Best Buy team and they have been working to resolve this since the issue began occurring. We are very confident that this will be resolved well before your benefits would ever expire.
In regards to your GCU Welcome Packet, the Welcome Packets are generally sent within 2-3 business days of signing up for the program. I further apologize as it sounds like you may not have received one of your packets! I’m going to send you a private message with more information in regards to this. As a reminder, you can check your private messages by clicking the small envelope on the top right of the screen.
Thanks again and you’ll be hearing from me soon!

  • Gamers Club Unlocked Issues - HELP lol

I bought the X-Box One Bundle the night it came out 11/21/13. I am supposed to get 10% off new games and when trading in games.
I am so frustrated. I spoke with the store manager, they told me to call the reward zone member line. I've called 5 times and have had an open case since March.
No calls no emails, ridiculous. I think I was also entitled to a gift certificate etc.
In all case, the Bundle shows up on my receipt but the Gamers Club Unlocked doesn't.
I have the actual receipt (missing the line item but shows I got the bundle).
How do I get this fixed?
    Thanks!

    Hello Rhenny,
Thank you for being a My Best Buy member, and thank you for purchasing your Xbox One from Best Buy!  I'll be happy to review your purchase with you.
There was no gift certificate offer with the Unlocked Epic Gaming Bundle, but you would be entitled to 20% off all new game purchases and a 10% bonus value on game trade-ins at your local store with a My Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked membership.
Based on your explanation of the sale, and confirmed by reviewing the receipt,  there was no Unlocked membership sold to you back in November.  This being the case, I'm afraid we would not be able to make that change to your account manually.  Unlocked memberships can only be sold at stores.
I would like to review this with you further, and I will send you a private message shortly with additional information.  To check your messages, while logged into the forum click on the envelope in the upper right corner.

  • Gamers Club Not Applying to Online Purchase

This evening I went online to purchase a PS4 game and my GCU discount isn't being applied. I purchased my GCU subscription during the deal you had when Mortal Kombat X was released. I brought the card I received in the mail to the store and they informed me it was linked to my account, but I have noticed the last two times I've been in a physical store a manager has had to come over to get my discount applied. Any help you could provide I would grealy appreciate.

    Hello CypherECM,
I'm too late!  It appears that you were able to get the issue resolved.  Your current Gamers Club Unlocked expiration date is 06/07/2017.  I hope you enjoy all the benefits of the program and I'm happy you were able to get this fixed.
You can view the current status of your My Best Buy account by logging in and clicking on the “Rewards” tab.

  • I Didn't Get a Gamers Club Unlocked Discount

Hello, I preordered http://www.bestbuy.com/site/nintendo-amiibo-figure-toad-multi/3214007.p through the website and didn't get a 20% discount despite having a Gamers Club Unlocked membership. What did I do wrong?
For that matter, I've put several non-preorder video games in my cart and don't see a discount being applied to the price. Is it applied at checkout or is it not possible to get the discount via the website?

    Hello Patrick_Dark,
Thanks for being a My Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked member.  I'm very sorry to hear that the process hasn't gone quite as expected thus far.
Having two My Best Buy accounts can certainly complicate matters, and I'm happy to hear that you were able to find our information on requesting an account merge.  A member of our team will follow up to your merge request.

  • Gamers Club Unlocked - Not showing up as activated

I preordered several Disney Infinity items back on 7/21 along with a My Gamers Club Unlocked card.  The 20% discount was applied to everything in my order.  The card itself came directly to my house a couple of days later.  I took the card to my local Best Buy store to have it activated.  Like many others on this message board, the cashiers were confused and had to call over a manager.  They apparently activated it, but it then charged me $30 again...they processed that as a store discount.  The manager basically said she didn't have time to figure it all out so she was just processing it as a store credit.  They did ask me for My Best Buy membership information so I figured it was all set.  That was on August 1st.  I still can't see the card on my online account.  I am looking to preorder several other games, but won't until this problem is resolved.  I requested help via email and was just directed to call an 800 number.   Any help would be appreciated.  I saw where several people on this message board had the store ring up a game when the card was activated, but no one did for me in the store.  I figured it was working when the discount was applied to my online order.  Thanks in advance for the help. rumrunner25

    Hello rumrunner25,
There seems to be an issue with the stores process and how it's communicated.  I'm really sorry for the inconvenience you've experienced with getting your Gamers Club Unlocked membership activated.
The stores management team should be able to resolve this issue and I personally apologize for the manager’s behavior.  We never want our customers to feel this way.
It does appear that you were given the wrong card.  I'd advise you to return to the store and have them attempt to activate it again.  Make sure that they add your My Best Buy account information to the transaction and ring-up a new game purchase before leaving the store.
If they're unable to active your current card, then they'll need to exchange it.  Please note that the card shouldn't have "Gifting" on it or on your purchase receipt.  If it does, then this is the wrong card.
I'm sorry again for all the trouble and please keep me the loop on how it goes.  I look forward to hearing from you.

  • Gamers club unlocked discount on sales priced games

I went in today to try and buy Wolfenstein on xbox one. it was $40 but with my GCU it should be $32. I was then informed that the discount does not work on sale priced games. Correct me if im wrong but I do believe this is the wrong policy. If it is the wrong policy  how can I prevent it from happening in the future? I ended up leaving and ordering it online for store pick up becuase the discount works online.

    Hi danritter,
Thanks for your question in regards to the 20% discount you receive on new games with Gamers Club Unlocked (GCU). I’m definitely concerned about the interaction you speak of while visiting our store. We expect our associates to be knowledgeable around the details of our programs such as GCU, and I apologize if you received any misinformation while attempting to purchase the new Wolfenstein.
What everyone in this thread have said is correct. The 20% discount you receive with GCU should apply to all new games, even if Best Buy is running a sale on said games. However, as stated by dragonkid, the discount would not apply if you are price matching another retailer; you'd receive one or the other.
While I’m happy to hear that you were able to receive your GCU discount on Wolfenstein, I do regret that it wasn’t during your first attempt while in our store.
We appreciate the feedback as always, and thanks again for being a My Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked member!

  • Gamers Club Unlocked not showing as activated

On July 21st, I preordered some PS4 games online and also purchased the Gamers Club Unlocked. It applied the 20% discount to my online order with no problem.
On July 26th, I took the Gamers Club Unlocked card I received in the mail to my local store and also purchased a game. They scanned the bar code under the sticker and rang up my game purchase. The game was 20% off, so I figured the Gamers Club Unlocked membership was activated correctly.
However, when I go to purchase a game online, I am not getting the 20% off. I looked up my in store purchase from July 26th online and it looks like it should've activated my membership:

    Hello pazuzu27,
I'm sorry for all the hassle with your Gamers Club Unlocked (GCU) membership.  I was able to locate your My Best Buy information from your forum profile.
This is a very complex and grueling process that will take a long time.  Okay, it's done.  You're a member of the Gamers Club Unlocked program!
Enjoy all the GCU benefits.  You can view the current status of your account by clicking here and logging in.  After you log in, please click the "Rewards" page.  Your status and expiration should appear on the right side of the page.

  • Gaming Pre-orders and Gamers Club Unlocked

Everytime I pre-order a game, I'm charged the full price (minus the deposit) when I go to pick it up. I purchased Gamers Club Unlocked last October and should be getting 20% off until October 2016.
The first time I tried to use the promotion on a pre-order was last November (less than a month from purchasing the service). I pre-ordered a game that had the 500 Rewards points promotion for pre-order and purchase. When I went to pick up the game, I was charged in full. I told the associate that I had GCU, so he had to adjust the price manually. I'm not sure about all the math but it deducted points from that 500 point promotion.
The last time I went to pick up a pre-ordered game was 2 days ago; I also had a $5 reward certificate with me. Once again, 20% was not taken off the purchase so the associate asked for help from a few others. After about 15 minutes and a couple voids. They had to treat the pre-order as a normal purchase and refund me the $5 pre-order deposit. That's fine seeing as there really was no pre-order bonus on this particular item.
I'm just asking: do I have to go through this everytime I pre-order a game at Best Buy?

    Greetings WN_Orlais,
It is strange that you would have such difficulties with receiving your Gamers Club Unlocked benefits if it is appropriately attached to your My Best Buy membership. Receiving these benefts, especially when pre-ordering games, should be a painless process, and I'm sorry to hear it hasn't been for you.
Using the information registered with the forum, I see that your Gamers Club Unlocked membership appears to be attached appropriately. With having said that, I'm sorry to say I can't speak as to why you have encountered these issues.
I do see that when you originally went to pickup your most recent pre-order, that you did receive the Gamers Club Unlocked discount, and that your My Best Buy certificate was applied. However, this transaction left off your pre-order deposit, which led to the chain of reprocessing the transaction a few times to get it sorted out. I apologize for any hassle that this has caused.
If you continue to experience trouble with pre-ordering, please let us know so that we may look further into this with you!
    Sincerely,

  • Gamers Club Unlocked Problem

I seem to have come across a strange occurrence.  After I bought the My Gamers Club Unlocked Membership, I used it successfully in tandem with the purchase of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD for the PS4, along with the 20% discount for new games.  The next two purchases I made back in April did not apply the 20% discount when I handed over my card to be scanned. Is there a way for this to be resolved?

    Hello Yurushi,
Thank you for writing in with your purchase questions, and thank you for joining Gamers Club Unlocked.
I'm sorry to hear that your membership discount hasn't been applying at the register.  I'm not sure what may have been causing this, but I am happy to review this with you today.  Please watch for a private message from me shortly after I have checked a few things on your account.  We'll be happy to resolve it today.

  • Gamers Club Unlocked - Extending time

So, I want to get another console for the house and saw the in-store only deal of - Buy either an Xbox One console or a PS4 console and join Gamers Club Unlocked, a $119.99 value, for free. I am already a member valid through November 2015 - My question is will this extend my membership through November 2017? Thanks

    Hi cbonet,
Thanks for being a Gamers Club Unlocked (GCU) member! It sounds like you’ve been a part of the program for a while and I hope you’ve made good use of the benefits. Checking the status of your benefits is as easy as logging into your BestBuy.com account and clicking Overview under the ‘Rewards’ tab while at your Account Home page.
With that said, I dug into your recent GCU purchase and it looks as though you purchased the gifting option from BestBuy.com. You’re going to need to visit a local store and redeem the card so GCU is activated on your My Best Buy membership. As of now, I’m currently only seeing you as a member of the standard Gamers Club, as your previous GCU benefits have expired.
If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!

  • Where do I find my Gamers Club Unlocked expiration date?

I've searched everywhere I can think of in my Best Buy account and can't find any reference at all to my Gamers Club Unlocked subscription, let alone when it expires. Can someone please tell me where to find the expiration date? Thanks!

    Hello AchillesPDX,
Thanks for being a Gamers Club Unlocked member.  I hope you've been enjoying all the perks.
The place to find your Gamers Club status and expiration date (if Unlocked) is under the Rewards Overview page.
To get there, click on "Account Overview" after hovering over the "MyBestBuy" tile across the top of BestBuy.com.
Once this page opens, you will want to hover over "Rewards," then click on "Overview."  The next page will have the familiar Elite Status spend tracker at the top right.  Just below that is the Gamers Club status information.  It will appear if you are a free member.  If you are Unlocked it will also show you this along with your expiration date.
I was able to confirm your expiration date, so I'll send you a private message with that information to ensure you have it.
Thanks for writing in and have a great weekend!

  • Gamers Club Unlocked 10% trade in bonus

I live in Greenville, SC. Went in to the store today to trade in a game and gave all of my info like usual (I trade in a lot). They completed the transaction, but did not give me the 10% bonus. When I asked about it, they very rudely told me that I'm not supposed to get the 10% bonus every time (which was news to me). After a bit of escalation everyone I spoke to told me that we don't get the 10% bonus every time anymore. Is this true or are they all misinformed?
I've had trouble with my card, so I've had to have them cancel and redo the transaction before, but it's always worked with my phone number. Is this a new policy or something?

    Hello Trollium,
I’m glad to hear that you regularly visit Best Buy to trade-in your games! However, I do apologize as it sounds like you recently ran into an issue and may not have received your 10% Gamers Club Unlocked (GCU) bonus while trading a game in. We want our GCU members to have a uniform, positive experience regardless of which store they visit, and I appreciate your feedback in regards to the Greenville, SC location.
What enuf has said is correct. The 10% trade-in bonus is a perk of GCU, and should be applied to any trade-in you do, regardless of current promotions. I’m going to send you a private message to request some information so I can assist further. To check your private messages, make sure you’re logged into your account and click the small envelope on the top right of the screen.
Lastly, I appreciate your involvement with IdeaX! We’re always looking for ways in which we can improve the customer experience, and your votes can surely assist in making this happen.
Thanks for posting and you’ll be hearing from me shortly!

  • Confused by my Gamers Club Unlocked status

Hey BBY mod crew! I'm pretty impressed by the level of interaction between Best Buy's moderators and customer service staff on these boards - its why I came here with my question!
Last week, I took advantage of the Gamers Club Unlocked $30 sale and picked up a 2 year subscription with my pre-order of GTAV, which was, in my opinion, a pretty sweet deal. However, with the changes I see have been made to the MyBestBuy web portal for Black Friday, I can't tell if my membership has been activated or not, despite it showing up on my receipt and in my purchase history.
I was going to purchase a couple games as gifts and for myself over the weekend, but even with a couple tests on full-priced items, it doesn't appear that the discount is going into effect. Now that I'm reflecting back on the purchase, I'm not even sure that I ever even received a "welcome to GCU" email after my purchase. Can someone please help me understand a) if my GCU subscription is even activated, and B) if so, if I'm shopping online, do the discoutns go into effect in my shopping cart automatically, or at check-out?
Thanks a ton - hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello DallasJordan,
Well this is quite the unfortunate circumstance! You come to our forums due to being impressed by the level of interaction here (thanks by the way J) and we don’t get to your post until well after the fact! We try to respond as soon as possible, but the increased volume around the Holidays tends to add an element of difficulty to that. I do however apologize for both the delay in response, as well as the issue at hand with your Gamers Club Unlocked (GCU) signup.
I was able to locate the purchase you speak of using your email address on file for the forums. Regrettably, Shankya is correct here. There are two options when purchasing GCU and one is a gifting option, which is intended to be provided to someone else and will not apply to your own account. Your transaction includes the gifting option and not the normal membership. In this situation, you’ll want to return to the store and Customer Service should be able to assist in ringing the transaction correctly.
First impressions are pretty important to me, so I wish yours was a bit more positive in nature here on the forums. However, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us in the future should you need assistance!
    Sincerely,
