Gamers club unlocked issue

Can somebody help me out? I went to another branch of bestbuy since its closer to my place and not to the branch where i purchased my gcu to resolve my issue. I havent gone to the to the retail store where I purchased the gamers club unlocked membership. I apparently got the wrong membership card since I got the gifting option instead of the subscription.
Last week I tried to trade in my sunset overdrive game but did not get the 10% discount because they said its not in the system. I showed them the receipt and said its weird that i havent gotten it. Its clear to me they dont have any idea how to activate it and even missed the detail that what they gave me was a gifting membership and not the subscription. That is why they cant fix the problem. Also, customer support did something with my membership making it worse, she apparently did an exchange to something I did not receive and now it reflects on your system. I asked a guy in their gaming department to look into my account to see if i was enrolled in the gcu and what he found was i purchased the gifting option and not the membership. Well, its not my fault that they gave me the wrong one.
I hope you can look into my account so next time i go to the retail store theyll know what to do. Thank you.

While I certainly appreciate you signing up for Gamers Club Unlocked (GCU), I’m very sorry to hear that you may have run into issues with getting it properly attached to your My Best Buy account! This should be a pretty seamless signup experience, so it’s unfortunate to hear that you ran into issues both during your first visit, as well as when you returned to our store. I’m more than happy to review your recent purchases and advise as needed.
I was able to locate your purchase history using your email address on file for the forums and I can see what happened here. You are correct that the GCU gifting option was in fact rang up and not the individual membership. Regrettably, this isn’t something we can assist with on the forums, as GCU can only be signed up for in-store.  When you get a chance, you’ll want to return to the store you visited who did the re-ring transaction and have them redo the transaction using the standard GCU membership SKU (3081375). You may wish to bring the physical GCU card up to Customer Service when you visit (there should be a card for the personal membership and one for the gifting option). I would also suggest asking for a manager if needed.

    I bought the X-Box One Bundle the night it came out 11/21/13. I am supposed to get 10% off new games and when trading in games.
    I am so frustrated. I spoke with the store manager, they told me to call the reward zone member line. I've called 5 times and have had an open case since March.
    No calls no emails, ridiculous. I think I was also entitled to a gift certificate etc.
    In all case, the Bundle shows up on my receipt but the Gamers Club Unlocked doesn't.

    There was no gift certificate offer with the Unlocked Epic Gaming Bundle, but you would be entitled to 20% off all new game purchases and a 10% bonus value on game trade-ins at your local store with a My Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked membership.
    Based on your explanation of the sale, and confirmed by reviewing the receipt,  there was no Unlocked membership sold to you back in November.  This being the case, I'm afraid we would not be able to make that change to your account manually.  Unlocked memberships can only be sold at stores.

  • Gamers Club Unlocked - Issues with Activation

    After multiple attempts in-store and over the phone and reading many forums with solutions I am stuck with a GCU card and can not get it activated. I've been told it's been activated and on my account but it has not been reflected in the checkout for my faux purchases. I can not view anywhere that says I am at GCU unlocked status but an email dating 1/10/15 says on Gamer's Club on it. Any and all help would be appreciated with this matter. Thank you!

    Welcome to the forums and thank you for posting.   enuf is correct in stating that you'd have to return to the store to resolve the issues with your account.  Unfortunately, if they aren't able to fix your account, then we'll need to exchange the card for the correct card.  I'm sorry for the hassle and we are happy to have you in the program.  Please make sure that the card doesn't show "Gifting" on it or on your receipt.

  • Issue with Gamers Club Unlocked renewal

    I took advantage of a current promotion to get 2 years of Gamers Club Unlocked for free. My receipt shows the GCU unlocked sku and then shows that the price was adjusted to $0.00 automatically.
    When looking at my account online, it doesn't reflect the additional 2 years as I already had an active GCU membership. I didn't receive any email as well.
    I spoke with a couple of friends that did the same thing and they noted they saw the additional 2 years on their account within minutes.  I'm wondering if the transaction at the register wasn't done right?
    I see the info on my receipt and on mybestbuy.com page when looking at my transactions.
    My GCU membership should expire in 2019 with the additional 2 years that I bought today, but it only shows me 2017 on my profile.
    How do I go about getting this resolved so that my account has the right year listed for expiration?

  • Gamers Club Unlocked Activation Issues... Please check if GCU is active?

    Hello there,
    I purchased the Gamers Club Unlocked gifting card online for myself back in December... Well it wasn't until today that I was able to drive to the nearest Best Buy (about an hour away) to have it activated. I did not try and purchase a game at the store with the membership, but I did try adding a game to my cart online to see if it worked and it applied the GCU discount within the cart. However, when I go to check out, I keep getting an error. Is there any way someone can check and see if the GCU membership was correctly applied to my account and the day it expires? I am seriously doubting myself and the cashier that activated my card, simply because no one there seemed to know what they were doing. And I really don't have the time and gas money to go back to the store to try again.

  • Gamers Club Unlocked membership cancelled one year early and without notice

    Hello.  I was a GCU member with the old program, and upgraded to the new with the 30 dollar two year extension to membership in November 2013.  My membership showed to be active until 6-5-2016, two years after my prior GCU membership expired.  Yesterday, I went to preorder a game, and discovered my membership is gone.  I was on the phone with customer service a few times, and so far it is not fixed.  I found my original purchase receipt date in my history, along with the customer service PIN.  I do not know why my membership was cancelled one year early, but I would like to get it fixed so that I can use it this week.  Thank you.

  • My Gamers Club Unlocked membership expiration is still wrong.

    I have mentioned this several times and seems nothing has been resolved.
    I renewed GCU back in September 2013, about a week after it expired.  I then renew once again sometime in November I think.  That time the GCU was for 2 years as the program had been overhauled.  Therefore my GCU should be until September 2016 yet it still shows 2015 on the MYBB page.
    Additionally, I only receive one welcome pack of coupons despite two separate renewals (a 1 year and then 2 year).

  • How to get gamers club unlocked discount online

    Guys, I cant seem to get the discount online for gcu. it works in store. I messaged two mods but since they may be attending to other messages or forums, I am posting it here. There are some games on sale i want now. Please help. Thanks.

    The Gamers Club Unlocked benefits should work online and at the store.  I was able to locate your membership and it appears to be active in our system.    
    It sounds like bobberuchi is trying to see if the issue is with your My Best Buy log in.   I'd like to see if that's the issue as well.  Please try logging out of your account and logging back in.  If this doesn't resolve the issue, then you may need to clear your browsing history or try a different Internet browser.

    I wouldn't worry just yet! It typically takes 2-3 business days for welcome packets to arrive after enrollment, so you may still see yours within the week. Make sure to keep an eye on both your inbox and junk mail folders over the next few days for that communication. Gmail users should also monitor their Promotions folder if they have this option enabled as messages from retailers (including Best Buy) may wind up in this folder, effectively bypassing the primary inbox.
    As far as your Gamers' Club Unlocked status is concerned, it looks like you simply need to complete the enrollment process on BestBuy.com to address this issue. Instructions how to do so can be found in the article I've linked below, so I'd encourage you to try them out when you can.

  • Gamers Club Unlocked 10% trade in bonus

    I live in Greenville, SC. Went in to the store today to trade in a game and gave all of my info like usual (I trade in a lot). They completed the transaction, but did not give me the 10% bonus. When I asked about it, they very rudely told me that I'm not supposed to get the 10% bonus every time (which was news to me). After a bit of escalation everyone I spoke to told me that we don't get the 10% bonus every time anymore. Is this true or are they all misinformed?
    I've had trouble with my card, so I've had to have them cancel and redo the transaction before, but it's always worked with my phone number. Is this a new policy or something?

However, I do apologize as it sounds like you recently ran into an issue and may not have received your 10% Gamers Club Unlocked (GCU) bonus while trading a game in.     What enuf has said is correct. The 10% trade-in bonus is a perk of GCU, and should be applied to any trade-in you do, regardless of current promotions.   • Confused by my Gamers Club Unlocked status

    Hey BBY mod crew! I'm pretty impressed by the level of interaction between Best Buy's moderators and customer service staff on these boards - its why I came here with my question!
    Last week, I took advantage of the Gamers Club Unlocked $30 sale and picked up a 2 year subscription with my pre-order of GTAV, which was, in my opinion, a pretty sweet deal. However, with the changes I see have been made to the MyBestBuy web portal for Black Friday, I can't tell if my membership has been activated or not, despite it showing up on my receipt and in my purchase history.
    I was going to purchase a couple games as gifts and for myself over the weekend, but even with a couple tests on full-priced items, it doesn't appear that the discount is going into effect. Now that I'm reflecting back on the purchase, I'm not even sure that I ever even received a "welcome to GCU" email after my purchase. Can someone please help me understand a) if my GCU subscription is even activated, and B) if so, if I'm shopping online, do the discoutns go into effect in my shopping cart automatically, or at check-out?

    Well this is quite the unfortunate circumstance! You come to our forums due to being impressed by the level of interaction here (thanks by the way J) and we don’t get to your post until well after the fact! We try to respond as soon as possible, but the increased volume around the Holidays tends to add an element of difficulty to that. I do however apologize for both the delay in response, as well as the issue at hand with your Gamers Club Unlocked (GCU) signup.
    I was able to locate the purchase you speak of using your email address on file for the forums. Regrettably, Shankya is correct here. There are two options when purchasing GCU and one is a gifting option, which is intended to be provided to someone else and will not apply to your own account. Your transaction includes the gifting option and not the normal membership. In this situation, you’ll want to return to the store and Customer Service should be able to assist in ringing the transaction correctly.
    First impressions are pretty important to me, so I wish yours was a bit more positive in nature here on the forums. However, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us in the future should you need assistance!

  • Gamers Club Unlocked Deleted, Can't Get Back

    For the last 2 or 3 years we have been Best Buy Premier Silver Members.  In 2013 we did not spend enough to maintain this; so on March 1, 2014 my membership reduced to the MyBestBuy.
    Prior to March 1, 2014 I was using my Gamers Club Unlocked membership I purchased on 10/16/2012.  When my Best Buy membership reduced, somehow my Gamers Club Unlocked got deleted.
    We called the customer service department after having issues in the store.  We got transferred to multiple departments and NONE of them spoke English.  After more than an hour, I emailed them while I was still on the phone.  I received an email back stating that they would escalate this and it should take 7-10 business days to resolve.  Yesterday I received a call and they said they couldn’t find any record of the Gamers Club Unlocked.
    In January 2014 I used my membership; I have the receipt (that you can see on my best buy rewards page) and it clearly shows the Gamers Unlocked discount.  In addition to that you can see on 10/16/2012 the purchase of the Gamers Unlocked on my rewards page.
     How do I get this remedied?  It has been more than 2 weeks and all I am getting both on the phone and in email is the run around.
    How do I get someone that speaks ENGLISH???????  The language barrier is too much.  This has gone from a frustrating issue to an infuriating issue.  It doesn’t matter how many times they transfer me I get someone who doesn’t understand me and doesn’t seem to understand what Gamers Club Unlocked even is.  They always transfer me to the Digital Downloads department, and because they can’t help me, they transfer me to customer service, who in return transfers me to digital downloads again.  Really?????

  • Gamers Club Unlocked Not Activated

    I purchased a membership online last week and went to my local Best Buy on Sunday to activate my membership. I was told to wait up until 24 hours for it to update online but it has been over 48 hours now and I am still unable to use the discount on any game. Can someone help me with this please?

    Buying and activating a Gamers Club Unlocked membership should be a simple process, and I’m truly sorry to hear you ran into such issues with activation. Typically, this is a situation that must be resolved in store as we don’t have a remote way of activating the Gamers Club Unlocked membership.
    Using the information you registered with the forum, I was able to locate the initial order of the Gamers Club Unlocked membership as well as the transaction rang in the store. I was also able to review your My Best Buy membership and see that the Gamers Club Unlocked membership is reflected on our end. Are you still not seeing it on yours?

  • Gamers Club Unlock 20% discount not showing up at checkout

    I have gamers club unlocked. It was activated yesterday in the store, yet whenever I go to purchase a game the 20% is not showing up. I cant even check to see if the GCU is linked to my online account. Hopefully someone can resolve this for me.

    Welcome to the forum, and congrats on becoming Unlocked!
    I looked over your account using the email address you registered with the forum, and I believe that I can explain why the 20% discount is not reflected in your online shopping cart.  Your BestBuy.com and My Best Buy™ accounts would need to be linked in-order for the discount to apply.  It actually looks like you may have three active My Best Buy™ accounts, which could also be contributing to the issue.
    With that being said, I would suggest that we merge your accounts and then link that primary account to your BestBuy.com account.  That should then allow you to utilize the 20% discount on BestBuy.com.  To gather some additional information and further discuss a merge with you, I will be sending you a private message.  You can check your private messages by logging into the forum and clicking on the yellow envelope at the top.

  • Gamers Club Unlocked $30 Renewal Coupon??

    Good Evening!
        Last night while reading one of the gaming forums I often visit, I came across a thread that started at the end of Novemeber 2013, that mentioned that coupons were emailed out to GCU members, or members whose subscriptions recently expired, to get re-subscribed for $30. After reading about it, I fumbled through my inbox and spam folder, and wasn't able to find any such coupon. There were a few other people in that forum thread who didn't recieve a coupon either, and were directed here to the Best Buy Unboxed forums, and were told to leave a message here about it, to see if a coupon could be re-sent. Any input at all would be much appreciated, as I would definitely like to partake in the offer if I'm still able to . That was the first I've heard of it.
