Games are crashing computer...

It didn't used to be so bad, but every time I turn on a game on my G5 (Command and Conquer, World of Warcraft, if that helps...) I have consistently experienced crashes – the computer makes a POP and it's off instantly – about every half hour, or so. If I turn it on again soon, then it happens more quickly – maybe in the first 5 minutes. Could it be the heat? I'm only mentioning that because it can get really hot, and no fans... nothing; although, it doesn't seem to crash at any particular tempertures, at least that I can tell by my hand. If anyone had any ideas on how to fix this, or what the problem could be, I'd be greatful. Thx

  • ATI drivers, games are crashing

    Hi,
    I've got a new 24" iMac and i've got a problem
    with the ATI drivers.
    Bootcamp1.4/2.0-drivers haven't worked at all,
Games like Enemy Territory: Quake Wars couldn't
start "The current video card / driver combination does not support the necessary features: GLARB_occlusionquery"
then i tried official(mobility modded) and omega drivers,
    "Doesn't support wglChoosePixelFormatARB".
    Then i tried this instructions:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5659265#5659265
    http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1017&message=24987376
and Quake Wars started. I was even able to play Half-Life1-based games like
    Team Fortress Classic.
But now there is another problem, my games are crashing after an indefinite amount of time.
I played ET:QW and it crashed after ~10 minutes, i played Team Fortress 2 and
it crashed after ~7 minutes, Portal even crashed after ~3 minutes.
What to do now, i just reinstalled Windows 2 days ago,
so don't force me to do it again.
    Thanks,
    myuu
PS: I downloaded Bootcamp 2.0-drivers through torrent,
so don't wonder, even if i use OSX Tiger at the moment.

I tried installing omega drivers the same way
but it still crashes after some minutes.

  • Blizzard Games are Crashing

I have a new Retina MacBook Pro. I love it! I'm having a terrible problem though. I can't seem to play any games (Diablo III, World of Warcraft) for longer than 10 minutes before the entire computer freezes. The only option I have is to completely shut down using the power button. I thought this was a hardware problem and I've talked to the local Apple Genius Bar. After running several tests, they've concluded all the hardware is fine! That said, Blizzard doesn't have any options for me either. I tried re-installing the applications but I'm still freezing up pretty quickly after I start playing! Should I take it back to the Apple Store? I'm at a loss.
    Help would be appreciated!
    -Chris

Thanks. I think it has to be a hardware problem! The guys at the Genius Bar said they found nothing wrong with the computer. What should I do? It's odd that 1.) No one else has this problem with these applications, and 2.) it is happening across multiple applications (Diablo III and World of Warcraft). I don't have any other graphic intensive games or else I'd check those, but I bet they'd both freeze on me too! Something must be overheating... Should I ask for yet another replacement (this is the second rMBP with issues!)?

  • Before I had a lot of games. I was on the computer trying to sync/backup my games in the computer, but now for some reason, all of my games are gone. How do I get them back?

Hello, my name is Octavia Hall. I was on the computer and I was just trying to sync/backup all of my games so that way, if I accidentally delete on of my game(s), then i would go on the computer and get it back. Now, for some reason, my games are now gone, how do I get them back?

i recently upgraded to Lion and i find that my computer is running slow and applications are crashing.  For example I have Word 2011 for Mac and it crashes all the time I end up losing my work.  It often happens when I'm in class using notebook and when I press record my computer starts thinking and it freezes.
Also, I feel that it overheats often and my battery runs out pretty quickly.  I had the macbook (black) and this never happened before.  I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if there is something with my computer.I bought my computer summer 2010, I don't think this should be happening. Please Help......

This is exactly what keeps happening to mine too.  I was at a conference taking notes, and I was
using the Notebook template, and doing some audio recording simultaneously.  About 3 hours into the conference (not consistently recording, but on and off with the sessions) my file wouldn't save anymore, saying something like "File cannot be modified while in use with another program" and "Invalid file name" when I would go back into my folder to look for it). I tried installing some updates from Microsoft, and when I restarted, I was at least able to open my old notes again, and so far it looks like the audio was working.  However, today at the conference, the same thing happened again, but I wasn't actively recording any audio (though after I had copy and pasted my second file of notes into the original, I went back to using it after re-naming it).
Does the crash happen to you under similar cirucumstances?  The update might help a little, but it is definitely not the solution.  Does anyone have any solutions?  Lion shouldn't be this buggy... I moved to Mac to get away from the garbage of bugs and compatibility issues...

  • Where are normal computer games like solitaire on the mac air laptops

where are normal computer games on the mac air laptop like solitaire, etc..

There's a chess game in the Applications folder. Otherwise, search a place such as MacUpdate or the Mac App Store for games you're interested in.

  • Some games are really slow and even crashes

For example: I can see the main screen on games such as Cytus or Candy Crush, but when I get into the actual game it crashes. For games like Rayman Jungle Run or Infinity Blade the fps is extremely low. Does anyone know why or how I can fix this? Thanks. I have a 4th gen iPod Touch and it is in iOS 6.1.5

Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.
    Next
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • GTX 660 Crashing computer

I have a MSI GTX 660 that is crashing computer within 10 min of starting a game (Arma 2 and Arma3).
It is also lagging during videos from sites such as Youtube.
Updated to current drivers, reverted back several versions without any luck.
    Help or suggestions greatly appreciated
    Specs:
    Windows 7 64 bit
System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
    System Model:   Z87-HD3
    Processor   Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz, 3501 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM)   8.00 GB

What is the PSU you use? RAM? Are you running latest BIOS version? Are CPU temps ok (below 72C)? What are GPU temps when you try to watch/do something?
Check PCIe power connectors that they're fully inserted. Also try reseating the card.

  • Game froze/crashed during a purchase, resulted in hundreds of dollars charged to credit card!

I Was in a game (Galaxy Legend) making a $19.99 purchase of premium currency when the app suddenly froze up on me. I tapped the screen a few times, nothing, used the home screen button, but it seems that whatever caused it actually locked up the entire iPad (128GB iPad 4 running iOS 7.0.4 (11B554A).
I Was about to do a hard restart when the game simply crashed and everything was once again working like normal. I did the restart anyway, simply because I find it does seem to make things run better overall if you power cycle at least once every week or two.
Anyway, when I launched the game again I noticed that I had quite a bit more than the $19.99 I had set out to buy. I haven't done the math yet, but my guess is it have me hundreds of dollars worth.
I only had a couple hundred credits at most in game, and I was buying around 2700-2800, but when I came back in I had over 45,000!!! That would be like three of the $99.99 options (which have 15,000 credits I believe), and would cost $300!!!
It hasn't shown up on my card yet, it likely won't until Monday seeing as today is a National Holiday here in the US, so you can expect it to be a long holiday weekend where nothing gets done.
I Guess the question is if I should just go directly to the credit card company about it, or wait until I can talk to someone at apple? I know they are pretty good about fixing this sort of stuff, but I can't even find the chat support option, and I was just talking to them today about connection issues with the itunes store.
Are there special hours that chat support is available?

Does anything show on your account's purchase history ? If you log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option, you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it. Click on that and you should then see a list of your purchases (the most recent purchase is above the list).
If it does then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
Or, and if there are multiple items on your purchase history, you can try contacting iTunes Support via this page (they will probably want the order numbers from your purchase history) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption (contact methods depend upon the topic, your country, and possibly the time of day)

  • Most of my games enjoy crashing with unexpected errors.

    *I own a:*
Macbook Pro (Mac OS X; Version 10.6.6)
    2.4 GHz Intel Core i5
    4 GB 10067 MHz DDR3
With most of my games, they crash randomly. They can work at some points and for extended periods of time rather well, and then randomly crash with unexpected errors. Sometimes they work for a few days, other days they get a crash. Or they could have so many errors that it's hard to play for more than fifteen minutes, or even at all. It started with my Sims 3 games - they crash once every so often, then the same with new games I've gotten, such as Spore, Neverwinter Nights 2 (one of the ones it has happened most with), and Fable (which doesn't even play for more than five minutes before crashing - always - so it's been unplayable), and now suddenly with World of Warcraft (I got Cataclysm), it has been crashing with errors several times a day for the past week or so. I can't tell if this is because all my games coincidentally have something wrong with them, or are too high in graphics or performance for my computer, or if it's my computer having a hardware/video card/etc. issue and/or needing to be updated to handle the games. What should I assume, or do? Should I just take it in somewhere?

I am unsure how to check how full my hard drive is. How does one do that?
Also, they just end up freezing a few seconds before crashing. I'm usually not doing anything out of the ordinary, though very seldom do I think it may be because I'm doing (or running) too much at once, but I can't be positive on this. Some games just crash without explanation. Others crash and give an error that I can send in to the companies, like WoW.

  • App store and Mail app are crashing in my mac air 10.9.5

All my apps are crashing and i am not able to open any of them . App store for Software update and Mail app, Photos app are all crashing. I have OS X 10.9.5 in my system. I removed Parallels trail version and also Clean My Mac app, Still i have the issue,Please help me to resolve the issue,

"CleanMyMac" purports to "clean up" "junk" files. What it really does is to corrupt the operating system and many applications.
The first thing you need to do is remove that software according to the developer's instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, again. Then see below.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

  • 80gb classic crashes computer, get blue screen.

    80gb classic
    Windows Vista
Ipod crashes computer when itunes is running, get blue screen.
A while back my ipod started having trouble playing songs. I would tell it to play a playlist of say 50 songs, it would then freeze for about 30 minutes, and when it would finally start playing, it would be 30 songs into the playlist. I also couldn't get itunes to read it.
So I used itunes restore feature, and then after that, every time it tries to synch to itunes, it would crash the computer, and I would get the blue screen saying that my computer was dumping physical memory. Well nothing gets dumped from my computer when it does it, and the ipod stays the same.
I even tried formatting it manually, having windows fix it, having itunes restore it again, but always the same thing... once it was restored.. BAM computer crashes.
I can have it plugged in no problems, I can run itunes no problem, but when the two are done at the same time, it would crash my computer.
So I looked for other reasons. I needed major updates for vista, so I downloaded all of them, which took a while. And I even uninstalled itunes and re-downloaded and installed. Now what happens is Itunes freezes when it's plugged in, but I can still use all my other windows, just itunes is inoperable while the ipod is plugged in. As soon as it is unplugged, itunes starts working fine again.
I'm not that great with this sort of tech thing, so any suggestions would really be appreciated.

    many thanks, i!
atapi.sys is a Windows OS file ... it's your Standard IDE/ESDI Hard Disk Controller. So it's plausible that it's either got damaged, or we're looking at a driver issue that is manifesting as trouble with atapi.sys. So we'll proceed on those two fronts to begin with.
Just in case the file is damaged, I think we should try an sfc /scannow. It's not user-friendly on an XP system, but the following document may be of some help (fingers crossed):
    http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html
If no joy with the scannow, we'll try making sure your drivers and so forth are up to date. If you've got a name brand PC, head to the manufacturer's website and look for the downloads page for your model. Look for newer versions of firmware for your hard drive, BIOS updates and chipset driver updates (in particular), but now might be a good time to check on things like video drivers, RAID controllers and so forth.
If you've got third-party componentry installed in the PC (like for example, a USB card, or an external drive, or a new internal hard drive), or if you have a home/custom-built PC, head to the websites of the manufacturer's components (in particular the motherboard manufacturer), and check for newer drivers, firmware and BIOS versions there. The following document may be of some assistance with that:
Updating the drivers on your Windows PC
Any joy with any of those measures?
