?Games for kids (8yr) on PlayStation Network?

This community thing is a pain in the ****** - is this really the only way to get a question answered?
We have a PS3 that we use mostly as a DVD player, sometimes for games. My son is 8 and getting to the point where he's more and more interested in video games. He just bought Minecraft from the PlayStation Network, and we were thinking about buying a PSN gift card for Christmas so he can get creative mode and some skins, etc. I was wondering if there's a easy way to also find out if/which games are appropriate for younger kids on PSN. There's no sort category for game age/rating. Also, can the PSN credit only be used for downloading games directly to the PS3, or could he use his credit to buy a hard-copy game?

Hi MatthewESO, sorry to hear about what happened. Our colleagues at PlayStation are actually better equipped to respond to your PlayStation concern. Please feel free to contact them at https://support.us.playstation.com/. I hope this helps. - Charlie

Nobody here is responsible for what is or is not available in any country. I believe it is a software licensing thing.

  • AIR 3 - mobile game for kids!

    Hi,
Here's my mobile game for kids: https://market.android.com/details?id=air.com.xtdstudios.games.MemoryCards
I would LOVE to hear your comments!

Hi - Just checked out your link.
I like the video - is it representitive of the games performance on a mobile device?  If so it looks like it maintains a nice frame rate.
I also like the transitions and effects you've added.

  • Web Games for Kids?

I am building a website for raising awareness of Childhood Cancer. We want a section on this site that is for kids and will contain games for kids. I have looked and most games I find are low quality or not really kid friendly. I found some that may work but they are premium games from Code Canyon. As I am donating my time and hosting for this site I cannot afford to pay for the games.
Does anyone have any recommendations for games that are kid friendly and decent quality that I can freely put onto this site? (I don't mind adding credit for the game.) Of course this is a BC site so all code must be client side. I would prefer to keep it ad free if possible.
    Thank You!

In that situations it difficult to work with an external drive attached.

  • Best remote multiplayer games for kids

    Hello,
I have a cousin who is 6, she is allowed to use her parents iPad, and managed to find games to play, checkers, some other pretty simple games.  She is only 6.  I have an iPhone and a MacBook.  I would like to find some game that we can play remotely.  Any suggestion on what category and where to look for games that are remote play between two iOS users or one iOS and one OS X user?  And what are good simple games for a 6 year old.  I am happy to be bored playing a game as simple as tci-tac-toe, so to me it doesnt matter what the game is.

I have the same dliemma. Daughter 8, son 6 - 2 new itouches for xmas - one library , my iPad, wife's iPhone ??
I was intending on just keeping one library (this does contain music with explicit lyric content etc) and manage their music via separate playlists.
As far as accounts and restrictions go, I was going to set them up with their own itunes account (using mail addresses only I can use). Load the account up with a voucher each.
The restrictions I was going to apply at the iPod (rather than the account) using a PIN I know - this way you can limit Safarii browsing (i.e. turn it off), youtube, and the age limit to the apps they can install and run - and the movie ratings allowed etc.
Happy to hear other ideas though - I'm intending on setting this up BEFORE they get them.

  • My game center won't let me in, have used correct email and itunes password, DOB and location....help want to get a game for kids

Hi, I need to figure out why my game center on iPad won't let me in, does it have anything to do with spyware?

No, but you don't need Game Center to get a game, you go to the App Store on your iPad.

  • No games for young children....Why?...

The ps camera is underutilized and adding kids games in the style of the old eye toy games would be fun for kids. outside of the wee robot thingi there is nothing to do with it kids wise. being in with the boys during the day i'd love to have something to play on the ps with them, the robots held their attention for a bit but there is not a lot to do in it so they got bored quite quick. just like smaller pads for kids i dont see what the issue is with wanting this.

What have Xbox got that you are wanting on PlayStation then? Personally I agree with @Zubairu and believe there are plenty of games for children on the PlayStation. Although judging by your response it seems you specifically want educational games to be played by 2 year olds.  You probably best of looking at the indie games on the PlayStation Store for that kind of title. Something like "Learning with the PooYoos" perhaps: https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-gb/games/learning-with-the-pooyoos-episode-1/cid=EP4295-NPEB00340_00-POOYOOSEPISODE01 There are other educational games on the PlayStation of course but wouldn't really say they are suitable for a 2 year old, such as Smart As. Perhaps childrens games don't necessarily teach your little ones numeracy and literacy skills etc but they do a very good job at coordination and making decisions and getting good feedback and the like. Even simple games like the Smurfs. Games have their benefits for learning even when they not classed as educational games. You mention no for Disney Infinity, but it will encourage the "Play" and "imagination" of your 2 year olds and when they get older and wiser the game can be used in a more in-depth way where they can eventually start adding pieces together and making their own levels and eventually perhaps, using the magic wand tool of the game to make key connections amongst various objects which is essentially a very simple and first steps at learning programming. Then of course we have Minecraft. Once again maybe not as a 2 year old but won’t be that long before you can unleash them on the Minecraft world and that game has a huge range of experiences that will help your children develop. So there's 1 game suitable for 2 year olds? Yes I want games for my kids, however, there are hundreds of gaming families who also have children. Not saying it should be specifically for 2 year olds I'm saying the PS do NOT have any kind of focus on the young market. They release 1-2 games and think that'll do. What I am getting at is that the developers focus on the next COD for eg. Something the same as the last cruddy little FPS instead of being creative or open to the other aspects of gaming. It's not all about adults, Lego and disney. The reason I refuse to get Disney infinity is because this household has 1 income and I refuse to waste that income in buying Disney figures to let my kids play that Character in a game. I view Disney infinity the same as I view Apple. Quick we need cash let's bring out an update and cash in. From what I have heard about Minecraft (from a father who decided to get that for his son) is that it also costs more to play than it does to buy in the first place. So, if you do know of any other learning games let me know but don't try to fob people off with Lego and Disney. Lego and Disney SUX!...lol

    Hi, cgeuss1621 -
...i guess the page is gone.
The link to the bungie site worked for me. Here's the supplemental page for it for the downloads -
    http://source.bungie.org/get/
...i was wondering if it would be possible to run marathon on snow leopard or if you can it off the disc
No OS 9 program can be run directly in any version of OSX. OSX 10.4 and earlier can use OS 9 as Classic, which provides an environment in which many OS 9 programs can be run; however, any program which needs direct access to the machine's hardware (such as many games do) will not run well, if at all, in Classic.
Both Snow Leopard and Leopard do not support Classic at all.

If you're getting normal network access through tethering, I'm not sure why this would not work.

  • Was playing game for months. Tonite, I went to play and it started me back as a new user. How do I find my player info and continue playing my origional game??

Was playing game for months, when I turned ipad on tonite and went to continue playing, it started me as a new user. My old achievements are still in game, but can only view them as the game recognizes me as a new user. How can I retrieve my player info to continue where I left off in game?

If I bought a new iPad and wanted to continue as on the old iPad, I would setup the new iPad from a backup of the old iPad, thereby transferring everything from old to new.
Exactly, a full backup of the previous device would contain all the app workfiles that stored the current state of the game.
I'm thinking if your kids got ahold of the iPad and decided to start with a new/fresh character, it may not be possible to go back. Given that the device is not altogether geared for multiuser usage (Apple would rather everyone got their own), many games don't support multiple users, besides those on other devices when in networked multiplayer mode.
But hopefully they will answer and set the record straight. While you wait may want to interrogate the infractors on what they specifically did so you can provide details to the maker if they need them.

Can be either iCloud or iTunes depending on where you chose to do your backups to.
I'm not sure iCloud stores everything. Even iTunes states that iCloud "Backs up the most important data..." whereas locally there will be "A full backup..."

  • Connection to Playstation Network Times Out

I have Westell G90-610015-20 DSL Modem. I have ASUS Wireless Router RT-N12 connected to it.
My PS3 is able to connect (wirelessly) to the wireless network. I can update the firmware, and it is able to download any update for any game. However everytime I tried to login into Playstation Network, it would time out. When I do Internet Connection Test in PS3, the results for "Obtain IP Address" and "Internet Connection" are Succeeded, but for "Playstation Network" failed.
I have read some postings regarding the same issue, but found no solution.
    Please advice.
    Thank you in advance.
