Games for the Tablet

I have been using the Playbook Tablet for about 7 months now. The overall usage is mostly for presentations, movies, music, email and overall entertainment. I rely heavily on gaming. Frankly, apart from a few games (20 to be exact), the app store is completely baseless. Even among the ones present, the quality is terrible and the overall sense of finish is lacking. The games worth mentioning are Asphalt and the first person shooters.
I request RIM to please push the envelope and create better games, or tie up and port games from the iOS system so as to provide a full blown experience. After all, even we would want to play as Iron Man or Optimus Prime and parkour our way through the rooftops in Mirror's Edge. Please work on it.
It is a sincere request.

Are there any WWI flying games for the modern mac? (Computer)
The only one's I can find are on line.
Which isn't always an option when traveling.

You might want to search in the App Store.

  • Will games for the iPhone ever be able to play on the iTouch?

I have some games I bought for my old iPod which don't work on my iTouch, but will the new iPhone games ever work on the Touch?

Your old iPod games will not work on the iPod Touch (unless they are ported over by the developer). However, new games for the iPhone/iPod Touch will be available through the App Store, starting next month. You'll need to buy the $10 v2.0 Upgrade for your IPT to access the App Store, and then you can download the games (some will likely be free, some paid, some with a free 'light' version and a paid 'full' version).
    Hope this helps...

dianneb, great question and thanks for the help Weth. The good news is if you're on More Everything the mobile hotspot would be apart of your plan just as Weth mentioned. What you just want to keep in mind is that the usage from the tablet while connected to the hotspot would take from your current plan allowance. Hope this helps!

  • What's a good forge game for the iPad?

I was wondering if there was a game for the iPad kind of like Gary's Mod or the forge on Halo Reach.

There isn't one, and there won't be one. Apple and Adobe could never get a flash player that worked. And now since Adobe has ceased all production on mobile flash, there won't ever be one.
Your best alternative is to explore the app store for browsers that support flash and see if one of them will do what you want.

  • Games for the nano 6th generation

    Question for Apple:
Are the any plans for additional updates. For example it would be good if there were a few basic apps/games for the nano considering the price associated with it.
Please note I understand that there is limitation to what can be added due to the size, however I do believe that adding simple card games such as solitaire, hearts, black-jack would really enhance the product and increase customer satisfaction of the product.
I brought this Ipod to replace my classic version with probably the same size screen(but not touch) and that came with games.

Are you referring to the iPod Classic that you can currently buy? If yes, that screen is quite a bit larger but more importantly you use the click wheel as control for any games, such as solitaire, black jack, etc.
With the current touch screen you would have to have awfully small hands and very good eyes to use the screen to control the game plus see what was happening at the same time. But it really doesn't matter as there is no Software Development Kit (SDK) available to developers for the Nano OS, so there is no possible way for them to develop games.
If with all these limitations you would still pay for games on the Nano (not sure what the price has to do with it), you need to send your request to Apple, they are not here.

  • Games for the Nano?

I cant find games that will work for the nano on itunes. what BS are they trying to pull with only games for the touch and iphone?

I've read a lot of the posts on this forum, but I don't seem to see a real answer to this question. Most responses just seem to point to where the clickwheel games are listed. However, as some others have said on other posts, although the top of that page states that these games are compatible with 3rd, 4th, and 5th generation iPod nano (and a few other iPod models), if you look at the individual game descriptions, not a single one lists 5th generation nano. One (I forget which) only lists 3rd gen, and all the others list 3rd and 4th. So, it is not at all clear if any of these will work on the 5th generation nano. So just saying where the clickwheel games are doesn't really help.
I don't have time to read every comment on every game (especially when most of them are like, "Hey Apple - we want free games!" or "Make Guitar Hero!"), so I am hoping that someone here will have some answers. I have managed to glean that the .99 games of Chinese Checkers and Reversi don't work on 5th generation because parts, but not all, of the images are reversed so things don't line up. I did find one post on this forum that said that Monopoly does work. Can anybody say from their own experience which games they have tried on 5th gen, and which ones worked or didn't work? If you have any opinions on the games themselves, that would be great, too - for example, when I was reading about Yahtzee, apparently the computer plays like a moron so it's not worth playing the computer on that one.
I won a 5th gen nano at my office Christmas party, and am a complete novice at this, so any help is appreciated! I am really enjoying the games that came loaded on it, and would like to add some more, but I am not sure there are any on iTunes that actually work with this specific model.
    TIA!!!!!!

  • Making a game for the iPhone and iPod touch!!!

Hi, I'm not really sure if this is where this thread belongs, but I couldn't find a better fit category, sorry!
    Anyway.
I'm a complete NOOB at making games. I'm a complete NOOB at flash animations and coding a game with the iPhone SDK. In fact, I have NEVER coded ANY game in my LIFE before, nor touched flash development programs, with the only exception being a month or two using Game Maker 2.0 which involved about 3 lines of code per game .
I want to develop a quality game for the App store and sell it. My basic idea is using flash to animate some people and having a sniper-type layout where you have to shoot things. (Sorry if I'm being vague, I dont want anyone to take my idea. There's more to it, including one really "clever" aspect of the game (in my mind) which is why I think I can get it to sell.) If its a really great quality game, how long do you estimate it will take me, start to finish, including learning to code with the SDK, to finish this project? 3 weeks? 2 months?
    Thanks!

    Hello,
You can't use Flash as that's not available for the iPhone/iPod touch.
You can find out about developing for the platform here:

  • Any More Games for the Ipod Available?

Is there anywhere at which I could download more games for the Ipod? I'm kind of doubting there is just because the click wheel probably isn't best used as a game controller, but anyway, I'm curious. Oh yeah, if there are any games, I want to make sure they're secure, I don't want them to mess up my Ipod simply because they were made of poor quality.

You can install text-based games that are played through the iPod's notes feature without voiding the warranty.

  • Good apps and games for the disabled?

My brother in law was born premature and as a result has a number of neurological and muscular problems. He has been wheelchair bound since he was very young, and mentally he will likely not develop past about a third grade intellect. He is currently 30, and his parents have gone to great lengths to take care of him as best they can. I've known him for about four years now, and he's got the personality of a guy that you can't help but like
My in laws live on the other side of the US as my wife and I do, but we're going to be flying out to visit them in a few weeks. I'm always seeing young kids at airports and the supermarket playing games on their parents' smartphones and tablets, and that got me to thinking that an iPad might make a great belated 30th birthday present for my brother in law. It's got an easy to understand interface, a touchscreen that's large enough for him to effectively interact with, and it could provide him with much more intellectual stimulation than watching The Price Is Right.
Before giving it to him, I'd really like to load it up with games that he will be able to play. I've never owned an iPhone or an iPad, though, so the only ones I'm familiar with are the super popular (Angry Birds and Cut the Rope) and what few games I've played around with on my Android powered phone.
Can anyone make some suggestions for me about apps that I could get for him? The more kid friendly, the better.  He does have limitations to motor control in his hands, so I think it'd be best if the app didn't require a high level of precision (for example, Slice It! probably wouldn't be too fun). I don't mind if it's not free- if I'm already spending a few hundred dollars on the hardware, $5 for software isn't a big deal
    Thanks in advance!

Forgot to add this. You'll have to decide whether to get an iPad (new version, 3) or an iPad 2. Although a bit more costly, I would recommend the new iPad. It comes with a dictation app and when iOS 6 http://www.apple.com/ios/ios6/ is released in the fall, it will have Siri. With Siri, he can speak sites to go to in Safari, the browser. There is a free dictation app, Dragon Dictation, for the iPad 2. The 16GB model with wifi (no 3/4G) should meet his needs, unless he wants movies installed (then get the 32GB model).
