Games not continuing where left off

So I got my new verizon iPhone about a week ago, and so far I love it. But I've had one problem...my games aren't picking up from where I left off. This is happening particularly with Plants vs Zombies and NBA Jam.
Examples: I'll beat levels 4-1 and 4-2 of PvZ. Then I hit the home button, check something, lock the screen and go about my day. The next time I go to play it pops up as paused in the middle of 4-1.
Same thing with NBA Jam. I'll play a couple games, hit the home button, go about my day, and when I come back to it it's paused in the third quarter of the first game I played.
I'm not syncing to iTunes, turning off the phone or closing out of things in the multitasking bar. I just put the phone in my pocket, and when I come back to it it's not where I left off.
It's a brand new phone, only a week old. I haven't done anything out of the ordinary with it. All apps are up to date, software is up to date and no one else I know seems to have this problem.
If anyone knows what's going on, please tell me!

Are you sure that "Media Kind" is set to Podcast and "Remember playback position" is checked in the Options pane of the Get Info window?

  • Where left off video setting not working in ios 7

Since upgrading to ios 7 the 'Where left off' stting on the Video is not working. I have turned it off/on and it is ticked. Every time I switch off the iPad 2 and then turn it on again the last video played place is not remembered - it always resets at the beginning. This happens on my iPhone 4s as well as that is at ios 7 now as well. Both devices were OK with remembering the video place before upgrading.
The videos are produced from Handbrake and not store purchases but I dont have any store purchases to try it out.
Anyone else seeing this (or not)
    Paul

I have this problem too since IOS7, except I don't have to switch my ipad off, I simply have to have not watched a video for a bit and when I switch back to the vid app it forgets all over again. VLC looks to be the much better app

    Hi Mario,,,,
I tried everything in your reply,,, thank you again,, I had done that once before and all was working great,,
I have just now tried the Reinstall via iTunes, about 20 into the download, the iTunes logo on the phone disappeared, and the Apple Logo appeared again,,, I waited until the iTunes stated that the download had finished, and the install was in progress,,,
Nothing happened, still the Apple Logo was visual on the screen, iTunes never recognised the phone which it was on my iTunes account previously,,,
Still just a bunch of lines, maybe 5 or 6 so small writing,, I personally can not read what it is telling me, someone said it reads, incorrect shutdown,,,????????
    Please advise,???
I am now at a loss,,, I really became excited when I saw the iTunes icon after putting the phone into restore,,,???

  • How to set Music to start where left off?

It seems when you start up Music, it always reverts to Radio.  Is there a way to set it to "resume where left off" or set it to another section such as Playlist, Album, etc?
    Thanks!

When first started the Music App starts with the left-most tab active. If you select a different tab Music will stay in that mode until it is terminated. Note that you can reorder the tabs. To do this select More and then select Edit and rearrange the Tabs.

  • Video unable to play from "Where Left off"

At Video Settings, I've already selected "Where Left Off" under "Start Playing". However, it still plays videos from the beginning always. My iPad 2 was just bought in 1 week. I've already "Reset All Settings", done "Sync" for few times, but in vain. Please share to me how it can be fixed. Thank you.

Problem is not yet fixed though the cause was identified.  Videos lack "time axis" information will fail to play where it left off. Since the problem happens only in my converted videos, it is believed the video converter that i used is not able to retain the time axis mark in the converted video. Therefore you may try to change to another video converter program in converting videos for your iPhone/iPad.  Let me know if it works.

  • Safari restoring where left off

Is there a way to stop Safari from opening back up the page where left off when Safari was closed?  I want it to go to my home page when I open it back up, not back to where it was when I closed Safari.

Figured this out, it's in the Preferences under the general tab.

  • Ipod keep start playing "Where Left Off"

    Hi guys,
My iphone 3G's ipod keep start playing music from where left off which I really hate as I like to have my song start playing from the beginning, although I already change that to "Start playing from Beginning" in ipod setting, when it start playing tracks that left of in the middle before, it won't start from the beginningWhy?
Does anyone know how to make every tracks start playing from beginning?
    Please let me know.
    Thanks!

I am having a similar issue with my podcast. This is with the newly installed 2.1 software.
In my case, I listen to some portion of a podcast while driving to a place. Pause it and then when I listen to the remainder on the drive back, it starts appropriately at where I left off, but when it gets to the end of the podcast, instead of ending, it repeats from the point where I left off before in a never ending loop.

  • IPod does not continue where it was pause

    Hi all
Does anyone know why when I pause a song, and if I go and do something else like surfing the web or if my phone gets lock, when I get back to iPod, it does not let me continue the song where I left off. It returns to the iPod main screen
Is there anyway to always return to where I pause the song?
    Thanks

When you browse the web, use native apps, do they crash at all?
There is a discussion in another thread (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1534241) that seems to have correlated play list changes (play count, date last played, ratings, etc.) being lost due to other application crashes.
Let's gather a bit more data and see if that is the cause, and if so, if we can get enough information to Apple to have them fix it. (I have not tried the 2.0.2 software yet, so I don't know if that does fix anything.)

  • Ipad 1 upgraded to iOS 5, "play where left off" video function no longer works, and codecs aren't recognized.

for some reason after updating to iOS 5, my videos no longer play where i left off, even if i set on the settings to do so. and yes i've tried restoring again, playing video over and over. resetting the video over and over. after a while of tinkering i figured there might be something wrong with the iOS.. also the codecs say "unknown" now, weird. anyone else having these types of problems?

    @bokehftw no problem.
    Update:
I did my best to compare the two files i have in question.  One pulled directly from my itunes library, and the other from my storage location (exact same file used to import INTO my library).
Now I admit that analyzing metadata is NOT something I claim to know how to do, but I am capable of googling some stuff and trying to figure something out.
So, unless I am missing something here, unfortunately, my findings point AWAY from the metadata thing.  It seems that most of the metadata was actually stripped out of the iTunes file.
    iTunes File:
    Original File:
Only thing I blacked out is the name of the file in question - you will just have to trust me that it's the same exact file (except the original was used to "import" into my library and the iTunes file is literally pulled from my iTunes Media folder).  Someone who is more familiar with the framework of iTunes may be able to decipher a little better - and for all I know, iTunes uses a funky way of adding it's own metadata that can't be read by third party programs (like Media Info - which is what I used).
Ah well, back to square one.   If anything, I hope this gets others with more experience/knowledge involved on the subject.
And on a final note (related to the initial problem) I've also noticed that since iOS5, editing my "info" tabs on my media files (read "movie" files - not music) directly on my idevice, I've noticed it's hit or miss if it actually sticks.  Prior to 5, I had no problems adding info (such as Artist, album, etc.) and having it show up that way.  Now, the filename itself changes, but the additional information is now no longer shown.  wierd.

  • Start where left off

I just got my Ipod. 5th generation 30 GB. The only thing I have not been able to figure out or find in the help files is how to start up the Ipod where I left off the previous day. Please help.
    Thank you kindly

While I forget the exact details, the iPod will pick up where it left off if woken up within a certain amount of time. If it is asleep for a long time, like a full day, it goes into essentially an off state requiring more of a full restart rather than waking up.
Where is that info.... here it is...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60945
So after 14 hours it is supposed to go into Hibernation and will wake from hibernation to the same state as when it went into hibernation.
However my own experience tends to mirror yours where after a day, it starts up at the main menu like you rebooted it, not at the last song in a playlist you were playing.

  • Finding place where left off on audiobook

I've imported audiobooks from CD to my nano. When switching from the audiobook to music, my place on the audiobook is not saved when I try to go back to if from the music. I usually can't remember which track I was on while listening to the audiobook. Is there a setting I can change to keep my place marked?

With audiobooks, you can have your iPod remember where you were on the track. Go into iTunes, and select the entire book (all the tracks). Right-click (PC user), and select "Get info". Click on the "Options" tab. Check the box next to "remember playback position" and click Ok.
That should do it. If you can't remember the track you were on, though, you'll just have to scroll through them until you get to the one that's not at the very beginning...that's the one you were on.

  • Song starts where it left off

This is SO annoying... I listen to a song and then change it half way through, come back to it two weeks later and I'm listening to the last 5 seconds of a song. is there a way to change this?

Normally the iPod function on the phone is set to start the track exactly where you left off, but you want to make it so it starts at the beginning again. Go to Settings and down to iPod. Go to the video section and select Start Playing. From here you can check From Beginning instead of Where Left Off.
You can also do this in itunes for one song or all of your songs:
If it is just only one song right click that song in itunes and select get info.
Then go to the options tab and click to remember playback position or not.If you want to change all of your songs, then press CTRL+A then right click get info then choose yes then do the rest of the steps and you're done.

  • ITunes continue where iPod/iPhone/iPad left off.

    Hello,
I was wondering if it's possible for iTunes to continue (in my case the iPhone) where the iPod/iPhone/iPad left off.
    Example:
I'm driving home and streaming Playlist "ABCD" over Bluetooth to my radio.
When i arrive home and turn off the engine and the radio turns off, the iPhone is at Playlist "ABCD", Song 368 of 412, at 2:16 (m:s).
Now i go to my PC, press play and it continues right where the iPhone stopped. Playlist "ABCD", Song 368 of 412, at 2:16 (m:s).
I would like to know if this is possible, and if so, how do I configure it to do so.
    Sincerely,
    Maurice

They appear to be hard-coded into the application binary and not available. I can't find them anywhere in the resources in the bundle, anyway.
For what purpose do you need them? Perhaps if we knew what you wanted them for, someone might be able to come up with a suggestion. Note that the images will be copyrighted by Apple and not usable in any public setting (web site, another app, a publication, etc.) without a license from Apple.
    Regards.

  • Downloads resume from zero, not where they left off

I know this is a tired question, but it STILL HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED BY APPLE. Why do interrupted downloads start back at zero instead of picking up where they left off? Is this too difficult of a bug for the iTunes engineers to deal with? Being overseas in a country with very slow internet connections, this is the most irritating issue I've ever dealt with. It's almost impossible to download podcasts because they always get interrupted somehow, then I have to start from scratch every time. Thinking it's time to consider ditching Mac + iTunes for something more reliable....
Will someone from Apple please explain why downloads do not resume correctly?

I am having the same problems, and this is driving to distraction, if the internet line for a second runs to zero MB per sec, I get kicked off the download and have to start from the beginning. There must be a way to start where the download stopped.

  • I have a 2009 A6 with a 5th Gen. iPod. I mostly listen to audio bks, not a lot of music. Often, the MMI starts on the first song on my iPod, therefore I don't know where I stopped in my 4-6 hr book.  How can I get MMI to start where I left off?

I have a 2009 A6 with a 5th Gen. iPod pluggedinto the MMI.  I mostly  listen to audio books, not a lot ofmusic.  The books are 4-6 hours long, vs 4-6minutes with a song.  Often, but not always, when I start my A6, the MMI starts on the first song on my iPod, thereforeI don't know where I stopped in my 4-6 hour book.  How can I get the interface to stay stopped where I left off?  I have gone into iTunes and placed my current book as the first "song" on my iPod for ease of finding it, but often the MMI starts it over at the beginning.  Thank you if anyone has any experience with this.  My dealer in San Rafael, CA says they've never heard of this issue.

I think my iPod, which is an iPod touch 3rd generation , which is a lot different from a nano, which really makes it almost impossible for me to help you, which is why I suggested that you post your question in the iPod nano community.  Your first post says that your product is an iPod nano. I think the people who answer those questions would be most likely to help you. If yours isn't a nano then you can pick the right community from here. This community is really to answer questions about this forum, or issues that don't fit anywhere else.
