i have a brand new macbook pro 17", with windows xp and parallels installed. i want to play the battle for middle earth 2, but every time i try to play an error message comes up and says that i need to have hardware acceleration on, which it is, the latest version of directx, which i thought came with xp, and the minimum specs. i asked this question on the chat before i ordered it and the lady said it would work. what am i doing wrong?
also i have project 64 and tried to use it but it says direct3d doest work.....is this related to the other game?

I just bought a Macbook pro 15" and i'm a new mac user. i've been tryin to install patches for battlefield 1942 which wont work so i cant play it. battlefield 2142 doesnt have an updated patch for mac so i cant play that. i just bought starcraft and i try installing it and i cant even do that i was searchin on some forums and everyone with a macbookpro cant run the game starcraft but other mac users can. actually it does install but for sumreason the games doesnt open at all. i have a blackberry and it comes with software to install so u can put music on the phone... and the macbook pro doesnt even install that. is there sumthing that i'm doing wrong. i was so excited to get a mac but now everything i wanna do with it, it just doesnt work and its getting frustrating. i almost feel like picking up the laptop and slamming it against the wall a couple of times lol. please if anyone knows how i can fix any of my problems please reply

Look at the games specifications, then go under your Apple logo in the top left corner, you will see there the software version (under "About this Mac") as long as the version is above the required version and the game is designed for Apple products then it should work.

Java update for OS X 10.8.3 to run Pogo games on MacBook Pro

My wife purchased a 15" late 2011 MacBook Pro last year to replace her PC. She loves her Pogo games. Recently, everytime there is new OS update, the Pogo games won't work, needs Java. So we have to wait for a new Java update to resume playing her Pogo games. I read the Apple Support about the Java threats and how serious they are to the Mac community. I understand but. What can you/we do to get this resolved to get the Apple approved Java update so I and many Pogo games users get to use Pogo games again and soon? Please help!

I went around and around with this last night and here's what I found…
Even with the latest version of Java installed, the plug-in is still disabled by default. I could not figure out how to enable it via system preferences or Safari's preferences, but I knew it was indeed installed and working because I could use Java via Firefox with no problems.
Here is how I was able to enable the plug in. Go to http://www.javatester.org/version.html At the top of the page you will see "Inactive Plug-in" if Java is not enabled on your Mac. Click on the "Inactive Plug-In" and you will be prompted as to whether you want to run Java. Click Run. It will appear to hang up loading java with the loading "circle". Refresh the browswer, select Run again, and voila!
Head on over to Pogo and enjoy! If anyone figures out how to enable the plug-in via System Preferences or Safari directly, please post here...

Nope, you should be good to go. However, if you do need anything extra the game will inform you of what you specifically need - maybe an updated version of Flash or Microsoft Silverlight.
If it requests something be installed that sounds strange to you, you may want to google it just to double check. Don't hesitate to post on here if you run into any issues.

Call of duty ghosts for PC is out on may 8th. Even then, you can't run it on a mac. Get bootcamp or parallels installed and then you can install the game.

Playing PC Games on Macbook Pro

I love to play adventure games. I switched to a mac from a PC because of recommendations from friends. I was very precise in my questions in choosing the computer and software that would allow me to play pc games on a Mac computer. I have the Macbook Pro and am running VMWare Fusion. Bottom line...it doesn't work.
I was wondering if I had bootcamp installed instead would it make a difference in running pc apps and games since you have to completely boot out of the mac and open the pc? I do not want to go to the expense (buying Leapord now to get bootcamp) if this is not a solution.

Yes and No; I have XP Pro on my bootcamp partition, but use the same partition to use for virtualization with VMware :P (no lost extra space :D) So to ur question. Games with high 3d demand (newer games) will not play with the virtualization only throught bootcamp (and depends on ur specs). When I want to play Fifa 08 I have to boot up in XP from bootcamp (older 3d games do work in the virtual tough), but if I need to open SPSS (statistical soft, or anything that is basically not a game) then I run it using Vmware and unite the programs with the ones of Leo and they became as just any program in Leo (well almost) or just run the Xp in one of my spaces and there u go.
Conclusion:
1) High 3d games only through bootcamp (soon maybe for virtual :P)
2) Almost any other software runs great through Vmware :P

Nintendo 3DS not connecting during online games to Macbook Pro or Airport Express Network. Please Help.

I would love to post this question to the Nintendo Support forums, but I'm abroad right now and it seems I am denied from the forums if I try to log in.
My Nintendo 3DS's internet features all work perfectly fine except when it comes down to directly playing a match with other users. For example, Mario Kart 7 will download Spot pass data like normal every day, but everytime I tray to play a match online, the software gives me an error. Same thing when I try to connect with people on Animal Crossing: New Leaf. My previous linksys router back in the states worked fine. The security was WEP I remember. Now I've got myself an Airport express and neither it nor my Macbook Pro (when sharing is turned on) will permit me direct online access to other users like I stated above. I even disabled security and went with an open network for a few minutes and was faced with the same exact problem.
I know this is very specific and mainly involves a none apple product, but I'm just curious what is different about the Apple wireless networks I'm setting up that is preventing me from nothing but direct realtime interactions with other users.
Any advice or knowledge about Apple security or wireless networks would really help me out. There are only so many settings I can tweak in the Airport Express so I'm sure it can't be too difficult, but I don't even know where to start.

I guess it's a problem with NAT (Network Address Translation). My ISP is Vectant Ltd. so maybe I should get a hold of them. If anyone has any work arounds that maybe they used with other game consoles (Xbox Live, PSN), I could really use the suggestion. I really like the Airport express and assumed it would be compatible, but I guess not.

as for playing iOS games on your computer no...not unless the game developer also makes a Mac OSX version. as for purchasing apps on your computer...as long as you are getting them through iTunes and they are for iOS then there should be no problem, just sync you iDevice like normal, but again they have to be iOS Apps and not for your mac. So dont go into the Mac app store....make sure you go to itunes and find your iOS apps from there.

I think you will still see the same delay in Windows to Mac based games there is today but this may change. It may change if the Mac becomes a more popular platform and takes over more market share and it may change if game makers change their strategy to releasing new games.
I'd love to see more games come out for the Mac myself but until then I have my Warcrack^H^Hft.

Hey, Yes i know, gaming on a MacBook Pro, but i did my research and saw that this machine that i own can handle the grapihcs. Or so i thought. I have installed Left 4 Deadon Windows XP using bootcamp. I was hoping that i would be able to play full graphics no problem as i have seem people do in the past. To begin with it was alright, but all of a sudden it would pause for about 4-5 seconds. It does this regulary. It does not stutter it just pauses randomly and i have no idea why. I just want to play it without it freezing randomly and then carrying on afterwards.
So yeah any help would be very grateful!

Heh, Fixed it now. After a while of looking on gogle i came across a way of fixing it so =D
