Games start to load but then shut down

I've tried restoring my ipod too, but all my games (Zombie Farm, Tap Zoo, ect.) still crash before they can open.  Is this something I can fix?

Try a reset: Push and hold the Sleep/On/Off button and the Home button for approximately 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo reappears. Release the buttons. No content will be affected.

didn't question the amount of over 600,000 files as I thought Maverick was updating my system from snow leopard - right? I missed something? HELP PLEASE

  • When I get to the login page on my macbook, I type in my password and it starts to load, but then the screen turns blue and it goes back to the login. What should I do?

I was having some problems with my mac, safari and itunes was freezing alot. I have to force shutdown and when I tried to start up again i get to the login page, type in my password and it starts to load, but then the screen turns blue for a few seconds and it goes back to the log in screen. What should I do?
    Please Help!!

    Somewhat similar problem:
Put in the password, hit enter, the screen goes blue for half a second, then goes back to login screen and carries on logging in as usual.  Drives me mad.  It doesn't happen with a fresh Lion installation, nor if booted into safe mode.  On the machine in question it also happens to new user accounts.
I've removed all login items, including Startup Items and Launch Demons (pun intended) and Agents, I've compared system login plists with a fresh Lion installation - can't see differences.  I've removed Little Snitch and PeerGuardian (no more third party kexts).
@Carolyn: I've done disk maintenance with DiskUtility and fsck and even DiskWarrior, cleaned caches, etc. etc.
Any ideas would be gratefully received.
Sorry for trying to hijack the thread (as it's not about Lion), but it seemed dead anyway.

Iv tryed this numerious times still keeps going back to pasword. Can not get any further. Tried restart holding shift key.. still nothing. What do i do?

    Thank you for your help.
I couldnt get to the hard drive/ desktop. Soft login not even working. So i could not do any of that.
In the end i took it to Apple and its actually the hard drive on its way out. A common issue with that series of Mac. Funny seeing i dont use this mac much. However being 2.5 years old and out of warrently, Apple have recognise this issue with this series/ Model and installing a new hard drive at no cost.
Very luck and greatful. And not feeling so dumb that it was something i did or could troubleshoot myself.
Hope this helps others that it just might be your hard drive failing.

  • I am having trouble accessing itunes store.  It starts to load but then goes blank.

I can not access the Itunes store.  It will start to load but then goes blank.  Not sure what to do.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

  • Start updates after hours then shut down

Is their a way to have updates start at a certain time and when finished shut down the computer.
Reason: I teach at a college and we would like the Lab computers to due updates after the Lab is closed and then shut down on their own.

Not sure if this works but you could set a schedule to start and shutdown in Preferences>Energy Saver>Schedule. Then in the Preferences, choose Software Updates and choose to check daily. Not sure if it will check for them in the allotted time or not but it's worth a shot. Also, if you need to validate the updates with an admin password, then it may not work. Being that you're at a college, I would assume you'd need the admin password. In that case, you'd probably need to either use Automator (included in the OS) or create an AppleScript (http://www.apple.com/applescript/)to do this for you.

  • When I turn my iMac on, it appears to start up but then shuts down

  • IPad Starting up but then shutting down seconds later!

My iPad ran out of battery yesterday, so obviosly I plugged it into the charger. After five minutes it came back on but then turned straight back off, in a matter of seconds! I left it to charge that night, and in the morning came back to it. But it did the same as it did before, it's continued to do this throughout the whole day. I have read some other discussions about this problem and the solution is to 'restart or reboot' the iPad. Although I cannot do because iTunes won't even respond to the iPad intill it turns on! Please help! Thanks.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.

  • Mavericks will only start in safe mode, then shuts down.

I think the new OS is trying to help me, but it's actually doing the opposite.  Does is automatically try to start in safe mode after a hard shutdown or something? Every time I start up I get the spining wheel and a progress bar that takes 20-30 minutes to fully load.  When it reaches the end the computer just shuts off.  I have been having some problems with the Mac itself - multiple attempts needed to start up etc - but in 10.8 at least it would boot normally.
I can't even boot in the recovery drive or in Windows, because the safe mode boot begins before the keyboard is recognized, so Option does nothing.  Any thoughts?
Edit: Tried zapping PRAM etc, still can't get the Option menu or avoid the endless progress bar of doom.

  • Windows 8 HP Pavillion powers up but then shuts down.

A friend asked me to have a look at his HP Pavillion p6-2302eam Series Tower PC running Windows 8 which basically refuses to complete a boot up. The device is two years old and out of warranty.
It powers up but then goes into Automatic Repair for a while followed by the Restart or Advanced option. Leaving it on that screen it runs ok, which to me seems to rule out heat sink problems. Selecting Restart it dies. Running the Advanced options I haven't tried Use a Device. In Troubleshooting carrying out a refresh sees the device run away on its diagnostic but so far it's got up to about 85 % then shut off. I'm tried a restore but that bombed out.
The owner told me that he plugged in a wireless mouse a few weeks ago. I've removed the usb dongle for that. No difference.
I'm wondering if there is any 'well known' issue with this particular PC?
I currently have the 1TB HD in an external caddy running a virus check which will be followed by a malware check. Windows is asking to run a Scan and fix on both the OS and Recovery partitions.
When I boot the PC it obviously recognises the absence of the HD runs on for about two minutes (fans running ok) then shuts itself down.

    HI,
Sounds as if the PC's HDD has severe system file corruption or may be failing. Have you run any boot time hardware diagnostics?
Was the failed factory recovery run from the HDD or did your friend create an HP Recovery disc set? You cannot Reset, Refresh, System Restore, or HP Factory recover the PC from the Advanced Startup, Troubleshooting screen.
Is this the PC in question? p6-2302eam is not directing me to the product number.  HP is not providing the option to order a Win 8 Recovery disc set at the Software and driver download site for the link I provided but I am not positive that product is your friend's PC. No other third party sites are offering an HP Recovery kit for that product number either.
Try a different HDD and run the HP factory recovery if you have the HP Recovery DVD set.
You may have to contact HP for assistance.
It is possible to download a Win 8 OEM .ISO file, burn to disc or USB, and then install. But you have one additional problem; the product key on Win 8 PC's is now embedded and encrypted in the BIOS. No COA sticker on the tower. You will need the product key to activate a clean Win 8 install.

  • Recently upgraded G4 MDD now chimes and starts but then shuts down, no vide

Hello all and thank you in advance for checking my question. I hope this particular question has not been brought up in the forums recently and if so, I am sorry for the duplication.
I recently received a G4 MDD FW800 with a single CPU running at 1.0 GHz with a broken motherboard but was assured that all else was working. I replaced the motherboard with a another motherboard, this one running at 167 MHz bus (as opposed to 133 MHz) which was equipped with a dual 1.42 GHz CPU.
The mac starts up, the power light illuminates, and the chime sounds, but no video appears and the machine shuts itself off in about 20 or so seconds. The machine is somewhat old and I am not sure if the PRAM battery is dead or if the power supply can't handle the dual CPU load. So I am stuck with a dead mac and I am looking for any hints as to how to go about diagnosing the problem.
The presence of the chime at least suggests that the motherboard is getting power, and that the RAM and CPU are OK, but I am not sure. Again, any help would be most appreciated, thanks in advance.

    Hey everybody!
Well, I found the problem, at least I think I have...
I replaced the battery with a new one and at the same time I removed the heat sink and the processor daughter card and verified placement. After these two interventions, the mac starts like normal, whew, I am glad that is over Thanks to Allan for his quick and insightful reply.

  • My MacBook turns on but takes forever to load and then shuts down. What's going on with my comouter

I'm not sure what's going on with my Mac. It was turning on fine a little slow but I charged it on the plane today and went to go use it and it takes forever to load and right when it finally does it turns off.

Start with SMC and PRAM resets:

  • When I click the FireFox icon, nothing happens. It looks like it is starting to load but then doesn't. It appears the internet cache is not getting cleared. How do I clear this to get FireFox to execute?

When the above happens, I try to run CCleaner and it tells me I need to close FireFox before it will clean the files, but it is not running? It just shows internet cache file is there at 0kb.

More likely an extension and "AVG Safe Search" is a distinct possibility, but only if you are using AVG antivirus application from Grisoft.com
