Gaming AC9 X99S Mobo - Codes 00/02/04

Hey guys, so I've been using the computer for the past few months, about 5 to be exact, no issues ever. All of the sudden, I wake up this morning to go on my computer, and the damn thing isn't booting. I tried clearing the CMOS, nothing happened, I don't know what else to do... :(
I turn off the computer, and I'll get code 02 when rebooting, then I'll shut it off again, and I'll get code 04, then I'll shut it off again, and it will be code 00, or any of the three. There isn't a pattern. Also, I know when my computer starts up, most times, my keyboard backlighting comes on, well this isn't the case, the backlighting isn't coming on, nor are the monitors.
I would really appreciate some help here! Thanks!

  • MSI Gaming 7 x99 3-way SLI plus wifi card

Hi, I'm looking at buying the MSI Gaming 7 x99 and an I7-5820k.   I know the CPU has 28 lanes.  Can I do 3-way SLI and use a WiFi PCIE x1 card in the last open pcie slot at the same time?  I assume it would be 8/8/1/8.   I don't plan to use the M.2 slot.   Thanks
    David

nope! what it will do them is this x16/ x16/ x0/ x8 (its weird)
    3 way 28lane- x8/ x8/ x8/ x0
    3 way 40lane- x16/ x16/ x0/ x8
I don't think you can use all the x16 size slots at once on that board!
to have 4 lots active you would need a Gaming 9 with 3 way SLI and 1 open x16 slot (they make it awkward with the insertion of RAM as you have to take out the upper graphics card to open the latches)

  • MSI X99S Gaming 7 and debug code 67

    Hi,
    I have MSI X99S Gaming 7 motherboard, Crucial 2x8GB 2133 DDR4, MSI GTX970 Gaming 4G, Corsair RM650, i7-5820k setup.
When I am trying to boot the machine it always stops and the debug led shows code 67. I have tried to take everything out, reseated processor and to boot with just the minimum set of components. Result is always the same code 67.
I am running out of ideas. Do you have any hints or should I just return the mobo and processor?
    Best Regards,
    juha

So are you going to RMA the board or just use it with 2 sticks? Thats means you are not planning on using it in quad channel, would be a waste.
Anyways if I were you I would definatly RMA it asap. This error 67 problem people are having seems to be widespread.  MSI really need to look into this.
As has been said previously, contact MSI. Should they look into it? Yes, but the moderators here are not MSI employees, and while we can bring issues to their attention, we cannot make them look into problems.
So if you have this problem, please contact MSI directly:  >>How to contact MSI.<<

  • X99S Gaming 9 ACK mobo not recognizing Killer Wireless

Exactly as title says. I have unplugged and replugged in my antenna, tried moving the antenna, and rebooted my computer and it still doesn't recognize the wireless. It was working perfectly before so I don't understand what could have gone wrong.
EDIT: Just tested my ethernet port. On board ethernet works 100% fine, so it seems to be an issue with the wireless alone.
EDIT2: Well, it works fine now. Still have no clue what went wrong. My b.

Just an update. I cleared the CMOS and loaded my saved configuration and rebooted and none of my USB worked. I rebooted again and now its all back up and running as it should be. Still no clue as to why it happens when the power goes out and it doesn't happen every time. I got this motherboard DOA and had it replaced and still having issues. Not sure how I feel about MSI since I have always used their products without fail.

Hi everyone, because I have a problem with my Motherboard MSI Z97 Gaming 7 is that when I turn on my PC after display the code 99 and 9C, remains suspended in A2. From what I've read, this code is for a hard drive failure. The system remains in A2 indefinitely code until the reset button is pressed PC. In the second restart smoothly enters the operating system.
    My System Hardware is:
    *MSI Z97 Gaming 7 (1.90 BIOS)

You could try your device 1 by 1 and see which one of it is causing the A2 issue
about this i already suggested the same:
Quote from: Svet on 23-April-15, 21:42:28
connected them one by one, and see which is causing this hang eventually
he said any one of them alone is caused this A2 when its connected:
Quote from: sebastianmancipe on 23-April-15, 21:49:10
Already perform this test with any 3 devices, SSD, HDD or DVD's the same.
Curiously hangs on A2 code when first turned not when restarted.

¿this version of BIOS where it came from? It is official? because they have not posted on the official website of the Z97 Gaming 7? as had understood the latest BIOS for this motherboard is the 1.90
its official, but beta bios and newer than your current.
try all other things 1st that people suggested you, leave bios flashing as last option

I just built a new computer and the wifi/bt module that it comes with is not detected. There are no bent pins, it just doesn't show up in Device Manager and when I put the driver disc in there are no drivers to install (I assume this is because it can't find the module). Try with the WIFI/BT module not being screwed together with the board. If still no go see if that changes when you move the module a little.
No luck. I took it off and reseated it. I'm not sure if it is supposed to show up in the board explorer in the bios or not but it doesn't.

  • M.2 on z97m gaming device not found

New build.  Got the z97m board to try out booting to windows on a m.2 device.
Installed a Plextor m6e 256gb pcie drive in the m.2 but bios doesn't recognize it so I'm stuck.
Am I missing something to change in bios first?
Upgraded bios to 1.4.  Reseated m.2 drive to verify it's securely installed but no luck.
I have a samsung 850 pro and a WD 2TB green drive also installed that Bios recognizes.
    Thanks.

Check if there's an option under BIOS--Settings--Advanced--PCI Subsystem Settings--M.2 PCH Strap, check if it's set from M.2 SATA to M.2 PCI-E
    Sorry..this is only for X99 mobos...my apology.

  • X99 Motherboard Suggestions Requested

    Hi
I'm putting together a system for ae and ppro. I think I'm settled on a 5930k, a GTX 970, 16GB ram to start (expanded when i get more money/when ddr4 prices come down).
What board would people recommend ?   I'm partial to asus, but I see that there are other x99 boards that take up to 128 GB ram, while all the asus boards only take up to 64.
Also, are there any particular ssds and hds that people would recommend ?
Do you guys think that a mobo's built-in raid controller is good enough or would you recommend a separate controller card ?
    Thanks a lot in advance.

Since X99 mobo's all have 8 DIMM slots, the claims of 128 GB RAM are based on the assumption that there are 16 GB sticks available. That still is a dream and if these appear on the market, they will be astronomical in price, while at the same time force the price of 8 GB sticks down.
Asus X99 DeLuxe and WS are popular boards. Good SSD's are the Samsung 850 Pro and the Crucial M600. Good HDD's are the HGST Ultrastar and Seagate Constellation ES enterprise drives. A dedicated raid controller is faster than on board, gives less burden on the CPU, has bigger cache and offers parity raids. Raid5 on-board is no good.

  • Which mobo/processor/gpu combo is a better compromise?

I am putting together a video editing machine that will primarily be used for Premiere Pro CC. It will consist of Haswell-E processor, x99 mobo, and NVidia gtx gpu. I need to cut the price down by $200-400. I can do this by going with msi vs asus x99 or haswell 5820 vs 5930 or gtx770 vs gtx970. I don't plan on running dual gpu's. What would be the best place(s) to compromise and why?

asus and gigabyte are tops in quality to what i've seen. if quality is a concern, you may want the asus over the msi. this is no guarantee that the asus board wont break first, just slight odds that it wont. whichever you get, make sure it has the features and expandability you need.
the 5930 costs 50% more than the 5820 but is only around 5-10% faster.  there are more differences than just speed in those chips, you can watch this video here to get an idea. PCIe Lanes - PCIe 8x vs 16x in SLI - YouTube    if you aren't loading up on components such as dual gpu's, you may be just fine with the 5820.
the gxt 970 is 30-40% faster than the gtx 770. they are suppose to be about the same price, unless you are looking at some special model or the gtx 980?  i would go with the gtx 970, its has 4gb ram and uses nvidia's latest technology. the new chips they use greatly reduce heat generated and lower the power required by these cards.
with any purchase, deciding which mfg/company you want to deal with if it breaks, can be an important factor. also if you are lookin at silent cases check out the define R5.

  • What ram should i get for a neo-fis2r mobo

im building a new system and i was wondering what is the best ram for gaming in this mobo.
    Thanks,
    Infern09

don't go with cl2 becouse this mobo hates it and instability will never end
and don't go with HYPERX pc 3500 its like  & it really sucks
go with CL2.5 it is the best CL with this board
if you overclock they will tell you go with higher pc like pc3500 , pc3700
thats a big wrong, any thing higher than pc 3200 sucks
    pc 3200 o'c like hell
and forget about HIGH & TIGHT timming it really doesn't matter just go with larger
    capacity
thats what i learned with this board after spending alot of $$$$ on RAMS
    GOOD LUCK any way

  • All Neo-fizzled out....

I'd Like to state some facts, status etc before I go into my "thread" (aka RAVE)....
    1. Everyone's been cool here on this forum since I joined in. Thanks for all peoples help and I hope my responses have been of help aswell.
    2. This may be my last post here but I'm not sure. Curiosity always gets me and so I will probably drop back down to see any "thoughts on my post".
    3. Currently I am on (you'll see my sig i think even though it is not up todate).. I'm on my old Intel P2-450, still works 99% perfectly even with XP Pro +SP2 installed. Or I am on my old (gave away system to folks) Intel P4. Both are using Intel mobo's, both use Nvidia GeForce cards, P4 has 1GB Ram, P2 has 320MB Ram. SP2 installed flawlessly on both under XP Pro.
    4. My main system which "was" great until a reg clitch caused me to reinstall O/S "CLEAN", repeatedly and has not been Right for over 3 months now. I lost track of "Clean" installs now.... havent had fun in ages (like playing CoD etc) in months on it...here is the specs:
System built in Feb-04 - ALL RETAIL NEW except where noted.
    - MSI K8T-Neo FIS2R - AMI BIOS 1.93b (started with 1.2 or something. I'd have to look at the MSI CD to see-I forgot) but the Mobo is v1.0.
    - AMD Athlon 64 3400+ Clawhammer CPU. Stock H/s & Fan. Thermal pad removed prior to assembly (done correctly) & used Arctic Silver 5 instead.
    - 1GB RAM. 2x512 sticks of Mushkin PC3200 Hi-Performance Level 2 Black. True BH5's. 2-2-2-6 no problem. 2-2-2-5 works fine but TRAS @ 6 is more stable & o'c-friendly. 2.70v set & as stated overclocks very well.
    - ATI Radeon 9800XT w/Cats 4.12 - again overclocks fine. 1.6 to 1.7 AGPv...
    - Windowz XP Pro SP2 integrated. Clean installs...
    - Antec True480w PSU (later model w/SATA support etc).
    - SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS.
    - New FDD (Panasonic if I recall correctly) & Ahanix "Black Knight" case. (Whole system is jet black)
    - Lite-On 52x32x52x16 Combo SOHC-5232K
    - Lite-On 8x Dual-Layer DVD-RW SOHW-832S (both with latest Firmware's)
    - 2x Seagate 120GB SATA RAID 0 Array (240GB) on VIA
    - Seagate 160GB UDMA PIDE on VIA
(Love Seagate & Barracuda's - never ever had a problem with Seagate company products - about to build another RAID array on the Promise controller with 2x200GB SATA drives, yes I can use another 400GB's storage :>)
    - Western Digital 80GB UDMA PIDE on VIA (WD's are ok, don't like Maxtor at all)
    - other random junk like USB Opti-mouse, SW FF2, Epson CX5400
    - old NMB PS/2 KB (hey it's my fave ancient KB, built like it was made of steel)
    - Logitech 5.1 speakers
    - Sony Trinitron monitors: CPD420GS, CPD220VS & VEGA TV
    - extra fans like Antec SmartCools 80mm, Cyclone Blower, 2x120mm case fans etc
    - 6MB ADSL on a gateway HPNA/USB/Ethernet LAN setup in house, HW Router F/W etc CAT5e
    - latest drivers of course for everything, software utilities, AMD64 .inf
    - "Manipulated" Mobo drivers as the MSI Hyperion 4 in 1's "Suck". Based upon VIA 4.53 and SP2. The CD/LiveUpdate from MSI is junk. The USB 2.0 gets all out of wack, AGP gets goofed, Enhanced IDE is pooped. And about the ONLY thing from MSI support that works ok is the Realtek LAN drivers although I an using the newest version and not the LiveUpdate "version" (look inside depending on where you get it, it has a newer version that MSI tries to hide/mask as usuall).
    *gripes have set in*
    - Here is my GRIPE   : MSI lacks support or rather quickly "tossed off" 754 boards, even before the 939s became the "now standard" chip from AMD-64 CPU's. 940's were the talk back then.
    - Without people like Mac & his Irish site with new 6702 AMI-BIOS's (thanks pal!), MSI should pay you for helping us (the CUSTOMERS) we'd be waiting forever. BIOS 1.80 has been their last major update and it is OLD/BUGGY/ETC... We'll get 2.0+ long before MSI puts out a v1.90 flash....LOL (sic)
    - Depending on where you get your updates (Live3, LiveMonitor, American/Canadian web, Taiwan web etc) is all mished mashed up. TIP, start snooping at them and change the .exe to .rar etc and unpack the files for a looksee4yourself!!     Go figure....
So being a die hard Intel person in the past (this is my FIRST self bought-AMD system)...and ditching Nvidia for ATI (I swore in the past I wouldn't go back to ATI). I am amazed/confuzed/dumbfounded/ticked-off/ad-nausea at this situation. Now don't get my wrong, The 64+Radeon system is above par for gaming. Rock's CoD, MOHPA etc and is wonderful. I was going to go with a new Hyper-Threading P4 but chose 64bit instead. Compared to others I know with P4s+GeForce all tricked out I still out-perform. Big A+ for that!!!
Problem lies in the getting to orphan stage 754 CPU with the kick-butt 939's so fast is annoying....along with & I hate to say it because the idea design mobo's from MSI are well done, MSI is losing to the people who bought their products ESPECIALLY if they keep up this run around & goof with neat ideas, but Fail to keep their Promise of support all Cool'n'Quit like...  The Neo series are getting rags on forums now when at 1st, they were overall #1 pick.  Shoulda bought an ASUS or ABIT instead... least they NOW outshine the MSI's mobo's back then. MSI=nice at 1st then off on another project (yes I -know- this is how the industry works overall) but I am honestly peeved at my system. Been rebuilding it over and over for months now. This is getting OLD when you can see what VIA, Realtek, Nvidia etc chipsets offer that we Can't utilize because we chose an MSI motherboard to base out AMD64 platform on... Sure the quality is there, it's the lack of support & upgradability that's irking me and quite alot of others out there agree..  TIP#2 go look at many forums, chipset web sites & other company's downloadable updates that MSI mobo's don't "offically support" while other Mobo's built back then do!!!!
I really don't want to have to make a $$$ change already but after the last 3 or more months of problems, this Neo-FIS2R and the 754 3400+ CPU is going to the auction or EBay & ditching MSI. Lesson learned....what seemed so good to lemon'ing status never happend this fast to me. The $$$ is probably worth it to avoid this MSI headace I've been in....
I appologize if offending anyone.... but I am ticked off... my mobo has finally FISz2Rd me out.... Lock Vcore, etc etc-"Easy flashable upgrades...." yada-yada .... phooey....
    take care all...
     - Mercury (hit my boiling point)

so what is the problem, i dont really see a direct problem in the thread?
the first thing i would do is throw that antec psu out the window, they just dont cut it. you have lots of addon's and an ati 9800, all power hungrey.
if you want the cheap route look at an aspire 520 ish, a safe route is enermax but double the price what you do want is about 33a on 12v.
you will want that even if you defect to an intel board.
    I had a 600 watter on my system with @28 a 12v and it just wouldn't do.
    try this clear
out all the drives cards etc, except for cpu/fan, mem, 1 stick, video card ,1 hd(2 if raid), 1 cd, and the floppy. remove and re-plug in all the cables, 20 pin power, and square 4 pin (atleast double check mobo pins for powerswitches leds and usb). check your sata / ide cables for crease/ folds etc..replace if needed.
i assume the mobo was mounted with standoffs..you used the right amount of artic 5 (not too much).
reload os once agin ..f6 sata drivers etc. then update all your drivers,4-1, satas, ethernet, raid, directx9, 4.9 cats. get all your os updates reboot a few dozen times you know the drill . now add sound card pci slot in 2 (leave slot 1 open)do a live update at creative .com get the new drivers. reboot add more drives. finally add your memory. you should be stable.
now make a backup. then load all your antivirus, spyware remover, firewall software. now the rest of the software. make another backup.
i think if you dont oc over say 215 with satas, 220 max you should be fine, but that is a sata problem,  if you reload updated, 4-1 drivers, not modified versions..(at least not yet.)  ati cat 4.9's , you should have a stable, fast system.

  • M.2 Compatibilityand Bandwidth Question

    Hello all,
I am going to be building my first PC  and am trying to get all of my information straight before i buy everything. I am looking to get:
    Intel i7 5930K
MSI X99 Gaming 9 AC mobo
    512 GB Samsung xp941 SSD
    gigabyte gtx 980 g1 gaming (x2)
I have tried searching low and high through the internet, forums, and manual but cannot come up with a 100% sure answer.
So my question is if i have the xp941 in an adapter in a PCIe slot, being that it is PCIe gen 2 and x4, will that affect the bandwidth of my two graphics cards running at gen3 x16 each? I am not sure if putting a gen 2 in a gen3 slot downgrades all of the slots to the lowest generation or even lower lanes. And if i am using a M.2 PCIe adapter card (only using the adapter for the heat sink) will i still be able to boot from the SSD?
Also, looking at the compatibility list for this board, it shows the xp941 but only in the 256 GB size. Will the 512 GB version still be compatible?
Thank you all so much for your help in advance

First of all using a gen2 card does not affect cards in other slots. Gen3 cards in gen3 slots will stay at gen3. However there are population rules that will switch available lanes depending on the slots populated and the cpu used (5820K: 28 lanes / 5930K and above: 40 lanes). To keep both card in x16 mode and using the M.2 adapter card you need to follow the population rules for 3-way SLI. The vgas need to be used in PCI_E1 and PCI_E4 while the M.2 card needs to be used in PCI_E5. Of course it would make more sense to use the M.2 SSD in the onboard M.2 slot and don't use an adapter card at all. With your 40 lane cpu you could still use vgas in PCI_E1 and 4 while using the SSD in the M.2 slot with full bandwith.

    Usually yes.

There should be no problem as the capacity should be pretty irrelevant if the SSD type is compatible. MSi can't test all drives and other stuff available so a component not mentioned in the list is not automatically considered incompatible but in most cases simply not tested. For a confirmation - if wanted - you need to contact MSI directly: >>How to contact MSI.<<

  • MSI 100ME color scheme

I love doing/seeing custom built PCs and I love when everything matches! I am a huge fan of green and black and I really love MSI and MSI gaming is sick their products look and perform incredible.. So naturally when I seen the 100ME GTX 970 I was floored or at least my jaw was lol... I wanted it so bad but at the same time felt like I was kicked in the pants because A. I had to settle for a 970 when I wanted to go big or go home and B. there are no x99 mobos in green and black!! WHYYYYYYYYYY... please MSI !!! give me what I need before the world drowns in my tears!

kind of.. tbh was kind of hoping for an x99a gaming 7 with all the red bits changed to 100ME green <3 ... i think it could be interesting if they started making their components to where these color accents could be replaceable pieces (maybe like clip on an off or something) and give you (or sell in their store) at least the basic red green and blue.. kind of like swiftechs h220x/h240x
