Gaming COV on bootcamp

I'm running COV on bootcamp and there is MAJOR flickering of the screen... I have the graphics down as low as they go on the game but don't really want to mess with the resolution of the game.
Help?
My MacBook: 2.0 ghz, 1 gb memory, 60 gb hd (10 of which are on my Windows partition)

more likely the updater is for the xp side, for mac updater ussualy being done from apple software updater process.
or you can check here :
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/drivers/
But I doubt it since it mostly for third party device not for apple product.
But intel usually very clear about which updater for which operating system.
Good Luck.

• Pc gaming mice in Bootcamp?

I am using a 27 inch iMac. I also run bootcamp on it. I am buying a G9x gaming mouse from Logitech and I want to know if the mouse will fully work in bootcamp.

Anything that has Windows driver is fine.
It would be impossible to not work, but I do think - still have just 2GB RAM? is not going to cut it today nor would I run Windows 32-bit on Mac. That would be more of an issue.

• Macbook Pro gaming OSX vs Bootcamp

When I launch up Minecraft on my late 2013 Macbook Pro (Nvidia Geforce GT 750m/iris pro) the frame rate starts off at a solid 100+ fps then about 10 seconds later it drops to 30 fps no lower and no higher. But when when i play minecraft on windows (Bootcamp) I get a solid 60fps all the time. Windows has no problem runing games like minecraft but when on OSX it cant get past 30fps. 2gb of GDDR5 ram should be getting 60+fps like windows.

• How can I use my iPhone earpods as a headset on a bootcamp Mac? for TS3 or Skype

I would like to use my iPhone earpods as a headset. This works perfectly on Mac OSX but for gaming I use bootcamp with Windows 8. There it seems to be impossible to use the earpods as headset, only the sound but not the mic works.
I would be really happy if someone could help me cause the mic of the macbook pro is too near to the fans so it is really loud on skype/TS3
Thanks

Some iPhone app or a download available for Mac maybe? Or both?

• Mid09 MBP: SSD/HDD upgrade, running bootcamp, partitions advice needed

Hi, I recently just put in a Vertex 2 128GB SSD into the optical bay, and still have my original 500GB 5400RPM drive.
Currently I have the 500gb split in half, for OSX and BOOTCAMP, and I am planning to reformat everything and install Lion.
Would it be a good idea to split the SSD into two partitions, and buy a new 1TB HDD 5400RPM and split that in half as well? (Is the 1TB 5400rpm drive the fastest HDD I can get right now? Which brand?)
I plan to do some light gaming on the bootcamp side, and produce music/use Logic Pro on OSX.
How else could I split the partitions for maximum optimization? OSX/Bootcamp are equally important. Thank you for your time.

The SSD should go into the former HD spot and the HD go into the optical or you'll have problems.
See BMer over at MacOwnersSupportGroup, he's into that.

• Bootcamp partition or Parallel?

So I know this is a common question, but l want to ask myself.
What is better for online gaming, Parallel or Bootcamp?
My computer is a Macbook Pro OSX 10.7.2, 2.2GHz Intel Core i7, 4GB 1333MHz DDR3.
Mac is cool but the downside is that I can't play online games and this makes me sad.
So I was thinking of either installing a Windows 7 or Windows XP on my computer.
but should I use Parallel or Bootcamp?
these are some of the game requirements that I play, I don't know that much about computers but if you could give me all your opinions on how well these would work if i put them on either parallel or bootcamp that would be awesome.

Windows runs very well in a VM such as Parallels or Fusion. But given the specs of your computer and your concern over how well it runs, why would you even consider installing XP, an old and unsupported OS?.
Windows 7 is much better from with respect to performance, security, and support.
If you want to run resource-heavy games then install Windows using Boot Camp Assistant. If you want decent performance for average use then install Windows 7 using a VM such as Parallels or Fusion.
You want price ranges for what?

• Can I create a windows 7 partition on a 1TB thunderbolt drive to use with my Macbook Pro?

I have a new Retina Display Macbook Pro with a 250gb SSD Drive that is quickly running out of space. My work recently gave me a new project to do some programming that can only be done in a Windows environment. With the price of Thunderbolt drives coming down I was wondering if I could build and boot to a Windows 7 partition on the Thunderbolt Drive and use that when I need to run Windows applications. Also what would the speeds be like? Would I be able to run apps like Photoshop and Illustrator? Also if that works would I be capable of creating a partition for my kids to install their games on?

Redgoat,
(1) USB 3.0/2.0 Drive will boot a windows 7 installation, (hold down option when you boot)
* I am not yet awake if thunderbolt drives will be detected by the macbook pro for booting purposes. I cannot see why not
(2) if you are concerned about speeds you can purchase a SSD USB 3.0 drive but a standard hard drive is quite reasonable with a USB 3.0 connection
and lastly MacBook Pro Retina are mean gaming notebooks and bootcamp is the best way to do windows gaming on it.

• Cannot log into any GUI modes and need to reinstall OSX

Hi all,
I've been having issues with my iMac 27" i7 desktop which I purchased back in 2011 with OSX Lion.
I recently updated to OSX Mavericks and have some issues which I am trying to resolve.
I have been working through troubleshooting with the Apple Support team as it is still covered by the extended warranty that I purchased with the system. Unfortunately it appears that we have come to the end of their technical support capabilities and I have no resolution. Here is a quick breakdown of the situation:
While doing some gaming in a Bootcamp copy of Windows 7 the computer froze and displayed a green screen with vertical lines and was unresponsive.
Rebooted the machine into OSX Mavericks (upgraded about a month ago from Lion) and after the Apple symbol and loading wheel, when the machine went to display my desktop it froze with a completely white screen.
Tried to reboot back into Windows 7 and when it went to display the desktop it went to a grey screen with vertical lines.
Called the Apple Support line who advised me how to log into Safe Mode. This worked ok and then I rebooted into OSX properly and my desktop displayed albeit running very slow.
Backed up my data and then while doing some web browsing the computer locked up and went to a blank screen.
Called the Apple Support line who took me into Recovery Mode and got me to Verify the Disk and Verify Disk Permissions. Also advised me to run Apple Hardware Test.
Ran Apple Hardware Test and it said that there are "no problems"
Booted back into OSX which worked ok but still very slow.
During a data transfer the computer locked up with a black screen and the rainbow spinning wheel and was unresponsive.
After a few attempts I was able to log back in and complete my backup of crucial files.
Yesterday I went to boot the computer and it again gets to point after the Apple symbol and loading wheel where it would display my desktop and goes to blank screen. Apple Support advised that the next step for testing purposes is to format the HDD and reinstall OSX.
No matter whether I am trying to boot into OSX, Safe Mode, Recovery Partition or Internet Recovery (I have tried all numerous times) whenever it gets to a point where the GUI would be displayed the machine locks up and I get a blank white screen. I logged into Single-User Mode and ran a file system check which came up ok and I have run AHT again which came up ok as well, however considering that it doesn't matter where I boot to the same error occurs I believe that the issue is probably hardware related rather than software. I have also followed the instructions to clear the PVRAM
I have booted to OSX using Verbose mode and noticed that there are a number of SMC errors and other messages indicating that there may be some software issues, so I am trying to troubleshoot those before I take the machine to the Authorised Apple Repair Centre
I have created an OSX Mavericks Boot USB but that comes up with a white screen as well if I boot to it.
I'm not sure if it will help, but I can select my recovery partition (OSX Base System) during boot and load into single user mode there. I'm curious whether (and how) to run diskutils from there to verify disk and permissions for my primary partition (lets call it "Lion"). Then erase the disk and reinstall OSX from my boot USB.

You have to start the miniSAP instance before you can log in to it.
On your desk top there should be an icon 'start SAP WA1' start that, and leave the DOS window running until you are finished.
If you get messages in the DOS window saying processes died check that MS loopback is running.

• HELP! Upgrading Graphics Card on Mac Pro 2009

Hi all,
I'm interested in upgrading my current graphics card NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512 MB to something with more memory.
I'm having a hard time trying to figure out which brand to go with that'll be compatible with my Mac Pro 2009 model and will work well under OSX Mavericks.
I really dont want to break the bank. Need a good amount of GDDR5 ram for Adobe Creative Cloud mostly. Would also like to run some gaming on PC Bootcamp drive under Windows 7 (Titanfall, Crysis, Battlefield, etc). However that's all secondary, thanks for your help.

LOTS of choices, depends if you want ones that will work without fuss (ATI 5770 & 5870 plus Mac edition EVGA 680 and Sapphire 7950) still give you boot screens if you option boot.
If you don't care about boot screens, you can use almost any recent ATI or Nvidia card. If you only boot into OSX, you can live without boot screens.

• Dynamic DataGrid columns

How can I get this example to wok with <mx:HTTPService>
insead of the inline <mx:XML> ?
Dynamic DataGrid columns
Example of how to dynamically create DataGridColumns
A completely dynamic DataGrid example.
This example uses the xml from the Flexstore example. It
examines the first product node and uses that to create the
definitions for the columns. There is some example logic to change
the columns properties.
It then instantiates the GataGrid and its columns array,
assigns the properties, and then the dataProvider, and then adds
the dataGrid to the application container.
The example is fully self-contained, since a portion of the
catalog.xml file is included in the mxml.

• Getting Tree data with a twist

I just started playing around in flex and am excited about
the possibilities. I read the previous question and answers on
Getting Tree data by an HTTPService, but cannot get it to work with
my xml data. I have an xml file which doesn't have the regular node
tags for a tree's dataprovider. I was wondering if there was a way
to get a tree to populate with data while using multiple tag names
and descriptions encased within those tags. Here is an example of
my xml data to show you what I mean:

<catalog>
<product product="Nokia">

Easy to use without sacrificing style,
the Nokia 6010 phone offers functional voice communication
supported by text messaging, multimedia messaging, mobile internet,
games and more

<price>99.99</price>
</product>
<product product="Nokia">

Light up the night with a
glow-in-the-dark cover - when it's charged with light you can
easily find your phone in the dark. When you get a call, the Nokia
3100 phone flashes in tune with your ringing tone. And when you

luminescent light effects in time to the gaming
action.

<price>139</price>
</product>
</catalog>
Using this data, I would expect to have one folder called
"Nokia" which has two files called "Nokia 6010" and "Nokia 3100
Blue".
So I have been searching the internet to see if I could get
this xml format to work with a tree and this is the code I have so
far:

<mx:Application xmlns:mx="
http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
layout="horizontal"
creationComplete="treeXML.send();">
<mx:Script>

public function fixLabel(item:Object):String {
var node:XML = XML(item);
if( node.localName() == "product" )
return unescape(node.@product);
else if( node.localName() == "name" )
return unescape(node.@name);
else
return '';

</mx:Script>
<mx:HTTPService id="treeXML" url="data/catalog.xml"
resultFormat="e4x"/>
<mx:Panel width="30%" height="100%"
layout="horizontal">
<mx:Tree width="100%" showRoot="true"
horizontalScrollPolicy="auto"
height="100%" id="mytree"
dataProvider="{treeXML.lastResult.node}"
labelField="@name" labelFunction="fixLabel" />
</mx:Panel>
<mx:Panel width="70%" height="100%" id="panel1"
layout="horizontal">
</mx:Panel>
</mx:Application>
However, nothing is being populated in the tree. Can somebody
please help me with this. I would think that this problem has been
solved before but I don't know where to look.
Thank you for your help.

Thanks for the reply. I definitely couldn't come up with that
on my own at this stage of the game. I wonder if you could answer
two more questions. How do I tell the node.@name to be a leaf
instead of a folder? I changed a small piece in your code to handle
the data inside the XML tags. Now I am getting two levels of
folders with labels on them. Thats fine but how would I get rid of
the the rest of the folders that I don't give a label?
Say you have the following xml data:

How would I bind the selected item in the tree to some text
boxes so that the relevant descriptions and url's would show up
depending the selection? I know how to bind data when I don't use
the "e4x" xml data format but I can't get around it by using a
tree.
I would love to hear any advice you could give me.
Thanks again.

• Hot, hot screen...

I have a first generation 20" Intel iMac and on occasion (usually gaming in Windows - bootcamp), I can touch the top of the screen and it can be extremely hot, worryingly so, in fact I gets to the stage that I point a desk fan at it to help cool it down!
Are high temperatures behind the screen likely to cause the screen itself many problems?

I had a 20" iMac G5 2.1GHz, which is suppose to run hotter than the newer Intel versions. After video editing or playing a game, the computer would be hot and fans blowing out hot air. The components are made to handle the temperatures.
The only time you may have an issue is if your fan stops working and things overheat. But your computer should automatically lock up or shut off before any damage would occur.
Blowing a fan may cool it somewhat, but the back of the iMac at the top is where the air blows OUT while the air is taken in from the bottom of the iMac. Make sure (1) nothing is blocking the vents on the bottom and (2) I would not point the fan at the top back of the iMac so as to blow air in the iMac at the same point where the air is trying to escape from the internal fans.

• Virtual Windows applications vs Mac applications

Hello everyone!
I know that macbook air is not created for running games but I am up for some old ones with low system requirements
1) So I would like to learn what is the best way to run games : instal them on virtual Windows and start playing? Or is Mac version of the same games better and will the game work faster or not?
2) And if playing games on virtual Windows will work better, what programm would you recommend for installing Windows? I used Parallel Desktop because it is extremely comfortable, but I was told that this way of instaling windows for gaming is the worst since Macbook air has to run both Mac and Windows simultaneously.
3) Will CrossOver Games run my games just as good as if I installed mac version of the game? Well ofcourse if CrossOver will be able to instal and run it . ..
Thank you very much for help ! =)
P.S. If it does metter, the macbook air is new 13,3 inch top complectation (i7) so it should be able to run games.

For best results in Windows Gaming use Apple BootCamp to install Windows so that it can use the native (real) hardware of your MBA.
http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
Virtualization always slows down.
Depending on the games you wanna play Parallels or VMWare Fusion might suffice.
Crossover is a choice for certain games but be sure to check their Compatibility Table whether the games you wanna play are supported.
In the end it comes down to use the Trial versions of Parallels/Fusion or Crossover and see if you are satisfied.
Mac versions of Windows games are not that many to find and mostly such 'ports' have a tendency to run slower than than their Windows versions.

As I have a Apple LED monitor cinema screen and it uses a display port does anybody have any recommendations for something more intensive for games?

• USB gaming mouse unrecognized by Windows 7 Pro (via BootCamp)

Hey,
I bought a Zowie EC1 Gaming USB mouse. But when I plug it into my MacBook Pro 15" running Windows 7 Pro (via BootCamp), then the mousewheel flashes blue shortly for 1 second or so, and the driver installation process starts. After awhile it says hardware unsuccesfully installed. And when I re-plug the mouse in the same USB port it says unrecognized.
I think maybe it's just some buggy drivers? Anybody experienced something similar with other mice maybe? Or know how I solve this problem.
Kind regards,
Simon

I looked around on the web and read a bit about your Zowie EC1. It's a very nice mouse that I need to put on my Christmas list
But it seems that it should be recognized by Windows as a normal USB mouse and install generic drivers. I have a couple of questions:
1) Are there any Windows Updates for your hardware waiting to be installed?
2) Do you have all the Apple Boot Camp drivers installed? Apple just released 3.3 if you're not on Lion (which is 4.0)
