Gaming Keyboards - Media Keys

Are there any gaming keyboards out there that have media keys that work with iTunes in Windows?

Same Problem here. After an autoupdate of iTunes a while ago my Media Keys on my Mac Book Pro as well as on a Windows 8.1 machine with a Cherry keyboard, stoped working.

  • Apple keyboard media keys not working

    Yesturday i was trying to trun down the volume in my itunes off my apple keyboard, when i went to do so nothing happend even with the eject button with the cd nor can I make the screen brighter or darker and the dashboard key is on my play key.

    Wow! I am in the exact same situation. I don't think it is Snow Leopard tho b/c when I plug my old keyboard back in the media keys work fine. It might have to do with the apple aluminum keyboard 2.0 update but when I try to download that it says my system is unable to support it (eben tho it only requires at least 10.5.8).
    If you find a solution let me know.

  • Windows 7, Microsoft Keyboard Media Keys (Play/Pause), and iTunes

    I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and iTunes 9.0.1.8 with Microsoft Intellipoint 7.0 and a Microsoft Keyboard with media keys.
    In previous versions of Windows, iTunes, and Intellipoint, pressing the "play/pause" key on the keyboard would play or pause iTunes -- even when iTunes wasn't the active application.
    In my current setup, when iTunes is minimized, then the media keys don't control iTunes.
    Is this a bug? Is there something I can do to fix the situation?
    I've asked Microsoft for help, and they say it looks to be a compatibility issue with iTunes. So, now I'm asking Apple. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    I have this same problem, but with Windows XP Pro. It MUST be a iTunes and a Microsoft IntelliType driver issue.
    I JUST reinstalled my computer and loaded all new everything and the buttons worked off and on (depending on focus). I don't remember doing anything to make it work last time. The only thing I remember was installing a plug-in so my ATI Remote Wonder worked with iTunes.
    I downloaded Chris's dll as suggested. Worked flawlessly. I hope Apple and/or Microsoft fix this in the next release of their software.

  • ITunes 10.5 and Microsoft keyboard media keys with IntelliType Installed

    Hi. I just updated to iTunes 10.5 and the media keys (play/pause, back, and forward buttons -- the latter two of which have been mapped to previous and next track respectively) on my Microsoft Ergonomic 4000 keyboard no longer work when iTunes in minimized. It works fine if iTunes is the active window. I tried installing the latest version of IntelliType (v8.2) and the installation notified me that I already have the latest version. I had no problems with the older version of iTunes (10.4).
    Is anyone else having this problem? Any solutions? Thanks in advance!

    I managed a different FIX. This is just for Microsoft Multimedia keyboard (I have Microsoft 8000)
    I uninstalled Microsoft Intellitype 8.1 that I had and then installed the newer 8.2 Version.
    Before I did that I Downgraded to Itunes 10.3 64x like someone else said, but it did not help.
    If this fix don't work with Itunes 10.5 then Downgrade like I did, It easier..No copying of files needed.
    After you uninstall Itunes 10.5 and Install 10.3, it give you an error for your library.
    So you press "SHIFT" and then open ITUNES.
    then you go to "My Music\iTunes" folder inside your genereal music folder, it should be there. (WIN 7)
    then to "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder and you should have a backup or and some kind of old "itunes Library folder" files...you choose one of them and Itunes opens fine with all playlist and everything.
    Now everything workd find.

    I after all this this does not work, might be because I installed Itune 10.3 before the new Intellitype 8.2.
    So try Uninstalling Intellitype 8.2 again.
    Then reinstall it...maybe it does things when Installing...I don't know.

  • Disable aluminum keyboard media keys (F7-F9)?

    Hi. I've been a user of Synergy for a couple years now, a program which allows you to control iTunes from the keyboard. It's has a lot of features that I like which aren't available by using the basic functionality of the media control keys on the new aluminum Apple keyboard.
    Does anyone know if it's possible to disable the media functionality of the F7, F8 and F9 keys to free them up for use with Synergy? I'm willing to edit .plist files if I have to.

  • USB Enhanced Keyboard Media Key always starts Autostart

    I bought the USB Enhanced Keyboard today, and am very happy with it, except for 1 single flaw. When the driver is installed, everytime I press the play-key, it does not only start playback in my media player, but it also attempts to autostart whatever CD or DVD happens to be in my optical drive. When I have not installed any drivers, it does not show this behaviour. I have not found any way to remove this setting in the driver, so does anybody know if I overlooked something, or how I can prevent this autostart from happening?
    I use Vista Home Premium 64bit
    The P/N of my keyboard is: 41A4992

    EDIT: For some reason the driver has suddenly started crashing when using the shortcut keys, or even worse, simply not even starting at all. Is there a solution to all this? I like this keyboard, but am starting to consider returning it to the shop, things like this should not happen.

  • Aluminum Keyboard Media Keys Question

    I just got a new Logitech M500 mouse to replace the $15 Dynex mouse I was using prior and I have had a slight problem with the button mapping.
    What I want to do is set one of the buttons on the mouse to perform the same action as the play/pause button on my aluminum keyboard.
    When I set the button to "F8" all it does is push the non fn modified F8. It does this regardless of whether or not I have the use "F1, F2, etc. as standard function keys" option selected.
    What would probably work best would be to map another key on the keyboard to perform the Play/Pause action of "fn F8" but I have searched extensively and have not seen anyway to do this. Is it even possible?

  • Media keys not working on iMac (mid 2010) keyboard using iTunes 10.5.3

    Keyboard media keys, rewind, play/pause & forward have stopped working ?
    All other keys seen fine, all software up to date Mac OS X Lion 10.7. & iTunes 10.5.3.

  • Media Keys Not Working - Apple Wireless Keyboard - Snow Leopard 10.6

    Hello, I am a new user to this Support Area and i tried calling but as its Christmas Day i cant get through because there closed so i decided to join here.
    Ok basically my problem is that i have a iMac and i recently installed Snow Leopard and on Christmas Day i got a Wireless Apple Keyboard i set it up all went well and got through all the bluetooth process fine except when i went to try use the Media Keys which are Brightness Up/Down, Volume Control, Play/Pause/FastForward and the other two don't know what there called tho when i press any of them they dont work when i press F12 which has a picture of Volume Up it goes to my Widgets thing and when i press F11 which is Volume Down it moves all the current apps out of the desktop like a clearing space function.
    I Really would like to have the Media Keys back to how there supposed to be i don't know why it is doing this but i think its Snow Leopard.I Have tried everything possible in System Prefs even removed the keyboard from the Bluetooth paired devices and re paired it but still nothing. It would be mostly appreciated if one you guys could help me soon..

  • 8815 Keyboard: How to Disable media keys

    Hello,
    I was hoping to get some help. I am trying to identify a way in which I can disable the media buttons (mute, play, volume, etc) on my 8815 usb keyboard. I installed the lenovo drivers, which allows one to disable/customize the quick keys (email, word processeer, etc), but not for the media keys. Any thoughts on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

  • Mapping media keys on G5 keyboard

    Hi Mac Pro folks
    I am not sure how many Mac users today still prefer using the old, big G5 keyboard, anyway I am one of them. The first thing to start using my brand new Mac Pro was to pair it with my G5 keyboard over Bluetooth.
    However, the G5 keyboard does not have the media keys like those on today's Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad. The media keys are very convenient as they are always workable even you are not operating iTunes.
    Is there a way to map these media keys to some of F keys on my G5 keyboard?

    I tried to add F8 as Play for iTunes but it did not work.
    Moreover, does Application based mean the key won't work once iTunes window is not the current active window?
    What I am expecting is to get the media keys (always workable even iTunes not in the active window) mapped to a few Function keys. Any hints please?

    So I am using a Logitech G710+ keyboard with my Mac (running 10.9) , and the media keys (Play/Pause, Stop, Next and Previous) work perfectly fine with iTunes, even in background.
    Now, when I use Spotify, I usually quit iTunes (to stop conflicts), but only the Play/Pause key seems to work.
    It does work in the background, which is good, but crucially the Next / Previous keys don't work at all.
    Any ideas? 

    So I have the exact same issue as everyone else here.  I have a Logitech K750 wireless keyboard running Yosemite on my MBP. I don't necissarily think this issue resides with Spotify, but instead with Logitech.  If I use the media keys on my MBP I am capable of using Next/Previous even when Spotify is in the background.  On the wireless keyboard only Play/Pause and the Volume buttons work.  I think the issue is with the key mapping with the Logitech. Then again, I don't know how the code is written.  Maybe Spotify missed an alternative key map for the media buttons.  I didn't write the code.... The logitech forum is a ghost town for this issue though.  Only post I found was 5 years old. EDIT: With further reasearch I DO believe the problem lies with Spotify.  A tech for Logitech explained to me that Spotify wrote some "interesting" code for the keymap functionality for its Mac client.  A quick Google search shows that it is not only Logitechs experiencing this issue.  It would be great if we could get someone to look into this.  It isn't critical, but it sure would be nice to get fixed.

  • Gnome shell, media keys and strange X11 cursor bihaviour

    Hi guys,
    I'm new in this forum, but old arch-user. This time I'm experimenting a really strange issue.
    I have a lot of packages installed (pacman, but AUR too), and I tried some beta packet, so I don't know if this issues is caused by me, or is a sort of out-of-the-box, but this is what happens:
    During Gnome-Shell session (3.16.2 actually), if I press any media keys (my keyboard has prev-next song, play/pause, stop, vol up-down) my cursor goes hidden (all works, but I can't see pointer). If I'm in empty desktop (no opened window), after 20~50pixel in any direction I can meet again my mouse. Instead, if I have some windows open...random behavior...cursor could reappear after 50pixel mouse movement, or it could stay hidden after 4-5Kpixel. The only way to get cursor again in short time is go to gnome overview (the function linked with super key or upper-left corner, by default).
    Additional strange facts:
    - mouse is working all the time (link is focused, button is pressed, focus follow mouse event, and so on...)
    - seems gnome top bar get same effect as empty desktop (20~50pixel and cursor is visible again)
    - if I link key combination with media function (Ctrl + Up/Down for volume, for example), everything goes well
    - I have a secondary bluetooth keyboard with same media keys, but this peripheral is not affected by this issue
    Any additional informations will be provided, but first, I did my homework:

    Got is sorted myself.
    I installed KDE which worked perfectly. Then went about trying to install chromium. After installing and trying to launch chromium I noticed it would just hand unless launched by root (terminal).
    Which led me to check permissions under /home.
    Turns out that somehow my /home/{me}/.config directory was owned by root:root  . A simple chown -R ~/.config  and a reinstall of gnome got everything working fine 
    NB: maybe someone with more insight can figure how/why ~/.config was owned by root from a fresh install and setup of systemd ??

    On g15 keyboard Xev maps the multimedia keys correctly

    but Clementine doesn't react when the key is pressed.
    I don't know what changes but rebooting can fixes / creates the problem randomly.

    Looking at the Clementine bugtracker-there's an open bug regarding multimedia keys on Win7 and Clementine already.  I'll play later-but I'm thinking this is something to post on their bug tracker.
