Resource Utilization with TFS and PS Integration

We've done Team Foundation Server 2012 and Project Server 2013 Integration. We're using Agile Model i.e. creating users stories and tasks at TFS side and synchronizing with Project Server. The synchronization is done correctly. Now we want to get
resource utilization report but not coming correctly. I observed that all the tasks are getting added in project server with start date as the project start date of 28 Dec 14. Even if I work on any of the tasks today (30 Jan 15) and update the remaining
and completed hrs on TFS side, the hrs are updated on Project server on 28 Dec 14.
So the resource working today on TFS is shown as worked on Project Server on 28 Dec. I want to see a report where whatever hrs a resource filled in TFS today the project server should show utilization of him for today only and not in past.

How to view/generate resource utilization report

I have used 3 resources in project , and wanted to know how to generate report of overall individual project utilization.
we don't use any project server here.

Hi,
Do you use Project 2010 or 2013?
Both versions propose
visual reports with a "resource work summary report" Excel template.
Otherwise if you do not need to export the data in Excel but only to vizualize the data, the resource usage view is an excellent way to see the resources utilization on a project.

Resource Utilization Chart issue

Good afternoon,
I have a slight problem that I am unable to resolve and hope you may be able to help.
I have Planned and Production Orders loaded onto a resource, when I check the resource: periodic view in the Production Planning Table, I can see the orders are loading as required.
If I go into the Detailed scheduling board and open up the Resource Utilization Chart, it is blank.
I have double checked the PDS's and the Resource Master data (capacity profile) and all looks OK, I have tried different DS profiles with no luck.
Am I missing something.

Can the resource utilization of a database USER be monitored?

Hi,
I would like to know that is it possible to get the resource utilization details of a particular user say SCOTT from the database.
I found that querying the view V$RESOURCE_LIMIT gives me the RESOURCE_NAME it's CURRENT_UTILIZATION, MAX_UTILIZATION, INITIAL_ALLOCATION and the LIMIT_VALUE for the database as a whole.
My requirement is to get the specific values for the RESOURCE_NAME for a specific user.

You'd have to query V$SESSTAT for sessions that have not exited yet and DBA_AUDIT_SESSION for sessions that have already exited.
These are at the session level. A Database USER may have one or hundreds of sessions -- it depends on how the application is implemented.

Maintain different resource utilization for mulitple resources.

Hi,
I need to maintain different resource utilization for first 7 days for resource. Say 60% for first seven days and then 90%. I am able to do this by changing it in Capacity Profile, but it takes standard value in dates and there is no provision of putting a standard "+ 7 days".
Problem is the number of resources is large and it is not possible to change the capacity profile everyday. Is there a way of doing this automatically. I was not able to do it in mass maintenance.
Also I need to able to put this in a Batch Job.
Please Help.. Its kind of a show stopper for me right now.

You will probably have to do custom/abap code.

RAR Resource Utilization question

I've configured RAR per the various best practice data that I've found from other consultants, and from SAP. However, my BASIS admin says that the RAR risk analysis is hogging resources on our box, and he wants me to "turn that *&^% off".
I've gone through and tried to optimize it, so I was wondering if there were any issues with the resource utilization that I should look into.

Dear Santosh,
As you mentioned above, the relevant configuration shoud be suitable for your server, either JVM, or JCO and RAR .
The other thing you should care is the mode of risk analysis, background or foreground.
If you choose background, you should optimize your job schedule.
This is my experience in the last project.

Identify resource utilization per db user

We have a 3-node RAC (11gR2 - 11.2.0.3). We would like to see resource utilization across the nodes based on database users. Appreciate if you could share your views on achieving this.

Since you are on RAC, using the script ashrpti should be helpful but since you have mentioned that you are looking for historical analysis , ASH is not going to be much helpful in that regard because it contains sampled data and on the disk , only 1 sample goes out of 10 samples collected in memory.

I am looking at http://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/ip_documentation/ru/xfft.html to get a resource utilization estimate for my design. In the table, I see LUTS, FFs and LUT-FF pairs. Why is the LUT-FF pair column listed there? Now, is the total LUT usage just the number of LUTs listed or is it some function of LUTs and LUT-FF pairs?

We intend to opt for an external HTTP load balancer to load balance about 8 instances of the WLS instances we plan to deploy in production on 8 different linux servers (Itanium based). I am looking at various ways of monitoring the resource usage on each of the servers where I would host 8 managed WLS instances. I am ok to sample a WLS instance on a regular basis (may be once an hr or less) and then compute the average values per day. This would help in bottleneck analysis as well as capacity planning. I am looking at the following parameters to measure:
1) Number of http request/sec
2) Number of threads in use (in each WLS process)
3) Payload size (including HTTP header contents, size of payload sent with each request to my WLS instance)
4) Disk space utilization
5) Heap usage for admin or managed or both(Used/avail/total)
6) CPU util (WLS process)
7) HTTP connection wait time
8) Http response by status code (200, 300, 400, 500 series of RFC defined standard HTTP status codes)
9) Number of JMS sessions open by a client
10) Number of DB connection (connection pool/data source defined in WLS)
11) Number of concurrent requests to a WLS instance
12) Response time per request
Is there any consolidated document or best practices proposed by BEA or any other party that explains how this can be achieved with WLS? Can you pls share with me?
Also, will MBean interface help me in all of my above requirements?

Resource Utilization Question

Hi, Please let me know if the following scenario is a possibility.
We currently maintain our capacity utilization at 90% for any resource and the same number is carried over to APO (SCM 5.0) with CIF. The requrement we have is to set this utilization to 100% for the rolling current date+3 months and 90% outside the 3 month horizon. I know that the dates can be specified explicity in R/3 but I don't know if the rolling 3 month is possible. Please let me know if this can be achieved via config or master data setting in APO.

To maintain the capacity utilization (Variable) time based. You can use the interval planning in ECC and then you can CIF this intervals to APO. Before you setup the intervals you need to perform one CIF customization activity in CFC9. Using the external capacit. Check(X) this field in ECC.
Step 1: In CR01when you are creating the work center under the capacity tab and you maintain the capacity category (Machine/Labor). Then Click on Capacity header.
Step 2: In capacity header you maintain the interval. Before this you select the Active version (1) under Available capacity.
Step 3: Click on intervals, there you can maintain the from date and to date. Define the number of intervals you requrie.
Step 4. Click on intervals+Shift there you can call the defined intervals and maintain the capacity utilization what you require for business. Also you can add intervals in this screen by clicking on insert intervals.
Step 5: After you are done you need to click on APO resource (this step is very important),which you can see top right corner under capacity header. Here under header data for APO resource you select the type of resource multimixed/single mixed (SNP) or mulitactivity/single activity (PPDS). In the same screen you need to maintian the factory calendar and active version under the available capacity.
After you are done with all the steps now you can CIF the resource as external resource to SNP. The intervals you maintained in ECC is visible in capacity profile in SNP resource transaction. This how you maintain the time based capacity utilization. It is bit tricky while maintaining all the fields. Do let me know if you have any questions.

Importing Resource utilization data from a flat file

Good day. My team is in the process of deploying a project server solution in support of our top initiatives. For these initiatives, we are planning on tracking resource availability based on project utilization. The challenge is that these resources currently
track their time/utilization in another tool. On one hand, I know that I could simply assume a certain % of available time per week to put into project; however, their capacity changes daily due to vacations, training, time in queue for support calls, etc.
With that being said, is there an effective way to export the resource data from another tool and import it into project to set the baseline for resource availability. In other words, can I import a report from another system that communicates that resource
1 has 10 of 40 hours available, due to work on project A (10), B (10), and C(10). I then want to pull that data into project, so that the availability for a project is 10 hours. As a final nugget (smile), I would then want for the resource to be able to track
their time in the secondary tool and have their update (e.g. I spent 5 of the available 10 hours) on Task D be imported into Project. Is that possible?

Over the past 15 years, I've been writing VBA procedures to do that so in principle I could say yes; however, all solutions imply programming; you have to find out how to address the data in "the other tool"; but the very greatest problem is to
have a one-by-one relationship of projects, tasks and resources between the two tools: nothing is easy.
So possibe, yes; easy by no means.

This report should provide comparision of Standard V/s Actual Machine hours utilization for a particular resource or for all the resources utilized in a given period and its variance. If the variance percentage is more than 10% it should be highlighted in Red colour as it is an area having potential / scope for improvement. Could You please tell me how to this report.
