Gap at bottom of maximized program

Hi,
first of all: I'm not sure if this 'problem' is related to Mountain Lion or exists in older OS X versions as well.
I happened to notice, that when I maximized (important: maximized, not full-screen) any program in OS X it widens to the border of the screen on top, left and right, but not at the bottom. There is always a gap of a few pixels. I can reproduce this behaviour on an iMac and on the 15 inch Retina Macbook.
I attached a screenshot for this particular area of the screen. The used program is iPhoto but it really is not program-specific. The gap I'm describing is black as the desktop background is black.
Does anybody know if there is a possibility to maximize a program even there as well? Thank you very much!

Having played around a while, that seems to be a gap for the Dock. Not sure if it is supposed to be there, or just an artifact. I have my Dock on the side of the display, so I didn't see it at first. With the Dock on the side, the window zooms to the very bottom. With the Dock on the bottom, it leaves that gap when zoomed.
Also, you can't "Maximize" a window. You can "Zoom" a window, and the zoomed dimensions are variable.
Zoom should toggle between a user-defined window size and the largest window to contain all of the window contents, up to the display dimensions.
EDIT: The gap seems to be on purpose. It may be to leave a target to hit the Dock.
I played around more with iPhoto and it leaves a gap on the side when I have the Dock on the side.

  • Hi, I am from Mauritius and I can't find my country for the MacBook Bottom Case Replacement Program and hence, can't order the kit. What can I do?

Hi, I am from Mauritius and I my country is not in the list for the MacBook Bottom Case Replacement Program and hence, can't order the kit.
    What can I do?
    Thank you beforehand.

There may be an authorized Apple service provider who can handle the matter
of obtaining a replacement bottom part to the computer in question and also do
the necessary labor, if your unit qualifies for the program...
Did you see this section (Apple - Find Locations) and choose your country
then enter City and Product information to find authorized service provider
for your Mac portable, as supported by an independent local business?
    There are three categories, not all may be available across your country;
    Sales, Service, and Consulting.
    •Apple - Find Locations - Argentina:
    https://locate.apple.com/ar/es/
Another selector to try for service & support options appears through this link:
    https://getsupport.apple.com/SASOLocaleAction.action
The first one above tends to list any authorized retail repair & sales business
that provides product, service, sales, and repair in the area. With contact info.
    In any event...

  • Gap at bottom of project

    I recorded a project at a resolution of 955x637 when I view
the project there is a gap at the bottom of the project where the
playbar would be. I moved the playbar to the bottom right corner
and the gap still remains. Do I need to change a setting in the
skin preferences to get rid of the gap?

    Hi AW Corp,
Yes, that's what you would try. Go to "Project > Skin >
Borders (tab) > Width" and try adjusting that number (downward).
I have no idea why the height of the border at the bottom is called
    "Width" - it just is.
Alternatively, you might try just selecting no borders
    (uncheck the "Borders" box).
    Hope this helps!
    Ciao~

  • Apple refuses to accept my serial number for the MacBook Bottom Case Replacement Program?

I bought my MacBook in September of 2011, but was told it was an early 2011 model. Just a little while ago, one of the rubber feet on the bottom fell off. Then another one. I decided against going with knock-off rubber feet in case they damaged the computer ($1800+ is just a little too much to spend on a computer just to ruin it with a $2 piece of junk). I've been trying since they fell off to talk to someone about it. I went to Future Shop and they tried to charge me for it. I went to The Source, and they had no idea what I was talking about. I would rather not go near Walmart with this. They are, unfortunately, pretty much the only stores available to me that deal with Apple products in some way. A friend of mine told me the other day about the MBCRP, and I decided to try that out. I get until it tells me to enter my serial number, and then it refuses to accept it. "We're sorry, the serial number you have entered is not valid. Please try again." Is this because Apple considers my computer not a part of the replacement program or am I doing something wrong?

  • Large gaps at bottom on pages

I'm formatting a book and the text doesn't go to the bottom of the text box on many (but not all) pages. Some setting seems to move several lines over to the next page, leaving big gaps at the bottom of the previous page when 3 or 4 lines would easily fit. I have Keep Options turned off everywhere I can think of! Please help!

It pretty much has to be a keep option of some sort applied to the paragraph that is moving to the next page, so take another look.

  • Screen gap at bottom?

    Hello,
Could anyone answer two questions for me? What is the gap at the bottom of the screen for? There's a much larger gap between the screen and the bottom of the watch face then there is at the top. What's that gap for?
Also, my screen looks slightly out-of- square. Like the screen is a bit tilted in the housing. Anyone else noticed that?
    Thanks

Thanks. I may not be calling it by the best description when I refer to it as a gap. But take a look at these images. I just went to Google Images and typed in Sony SmartWatch 3. These three pictures came from the first page. What I'm wondering is why there's so much more space between the bottom of the screen (the actual square that lights up in the watch face) and the bottom border of the watch than there is between the top of the screen and the top border of the watch.  I didn't really notice this when I first got this watch a few days ago, as I had a digital watch face on the screen. But then I installed an analog watch face and it really became noticeable that the actual screen inside the watch face is shifted towards the top of the watch rather than being in the middle of the watch face. Just wondering why that is?  I thought maybe I had a defective watch, until I saw all of these pictures on google images with the same condition.

  • Gap on bottom between glass and frame

    Hi all,
I got a D6653 last week, absolutely loving it BTW.  However, I've come to noticed a decent gap on the bottom of the device, between the glass and frame.  I don't see the same gap on top, which makes me think it's a manufacturing issue.  But, when I look at the back of the device, I see the same thing.  Does anyone else see this?  Is it normal?  This is my first Xperia device.
The gap is starting to collect particles and it's looking very unattractive about now (only in 4 days).  Also, it makes me question the waterproof capabilitly.  I would imagine the phone assembly would have to be very tight to be able to make that promise.
    Would appreciate any feedback, thanks.

    Any pictures?
It's definitely a manufacturing error, and you should get a replacement. I have the Z2 and have a LOT of gaps. Fortunately the device is still waterproof, but it doesn't feel right when you notice the gaps.
Just get a replacement (should be covered).

  • Gapping mis-alignment in bottom slot

    Hi Guys,
I cannot get the bottom slot to line up in the correct position when using gapping.
The bottom slot abuts to the right of the Main Slot, extending the width of the page and ruining the layout.
If I turn off gapping the bottom slot works correctly.
I created a minimal theme with NO code of my own and have trawled through the emitted HTML and found:
        12 "<i>table</i>" and 12 "<i>/table</i>"
        16 "<i>tr</i>" and 16 "<i>/tr</i>"
        <b>23</b> "<i>td</i>" and <b>21</b> "<i>/td</i>"
Is there a fix for this or do I turn off gapping and space all the slots via style-sheet padding?

<BR><BR><table bgcolor=yellow><td><font color=purple><b>NETPOINT DEVELOPMENT COPY THIS IS FOR TESTING ONLY. THIS IS A TESTING AND DEMONSTRATION SITE ONLY</b></font></td></table></form>

I would use CSS to override td width tags and table dimensions instead of gapping for this particular implementation. This will give you more control and it will be sitewide.

  • The bottom part of my Macbook is melting.

I know Apple has a Macbook Bottom Case Replacement Program, But I live in the Philippines and I saw they only ship the case to a few countries...
    Can sombody help me???
And one more thing. My macbook is on ver. 10.6.8, It won't update properly.
1st you're gonna think it's all good, then once it's half way to finishing the update it's gonna stop saying it has an error. This happened multiple times already

    Hello, A.j. De Castro.
Apple has determined that under certain circumstances the rubber surface on some MacBooks may separate from the bottom case of the system. MacBooks shipped between October 2009 and April 2011 may experience this issue.
Apple will replace the bottom case of any affected MacBook, free of charge, that exhibits the issue.  As you mentioned that you are in the Philippines, the best avenue for service would be to visit one of our Apple Retail Stores or Apple Authorized Service Providers.  You will be able to locate a provider in the link below.

I installed an HP photosmart C4100 and found that all my Firefox bookmarks are gone, all the data from my Palm and Address book is gone and all the content from iTunes is gone. Additionally all the content from iPhoto has been moved into the HP photo files.

    Hi wombledog,
I understand your frustration with Solution Center no longer appearing on your desktop. With the newer Operating systems and printers they have replaced Solution Center with the HP Printer Assistant. Do you see the C309a printer icon on your desktop? Very Similar to Solution Center but with some added features.
You can also check in your program files see below:
Start button (bottom left) > All programs > HP folder >  C309a > HP Printer Assistant (set to desktop).
When you installed your software did you use the software CD it originally came with or use the software download?
I will watch for your reply,
    Thanks,

  • Best book(s) for learning modern Mac programming?

I studied some programming long ago (Fortran/BASIC/Pascal) and I did some in the early years of the Mac with Microsoft BASIC and Think Pascal. I would like to learn C/C++/Objective-C/Cocoa. What are the best books?
I need to bridge the large gap between the old-style programming and the modern object-oriented approach, and I need to learn the proper syntax for the C-family of languages. Unfortunately, I live in a remote small town, so browsing the programming texts in a library or bookstore is not an option.

If you install the XCode Tools there will be a fairly large amount of html based documentation installed along with the tools. While but bulk of the documentation is related to specific progamming topics and APIs there's also some introductory material.
If you go to the Cocoa section and select "Getting Started" you'll find some basic information about Object Oriented programming as well as the Objective-C language. This documentation may not provide the level of detail you're looking for to fully grok the differences between C-based syntax and the languages you're familiar with or between procedural programming and OOP but it might serve as a good (and free!) starting point.
If you've done programming in the past then you'll already know some of the general concepts that a true beginner would have to overcome. But, for me, making the jump from procedural languages (Pascal and then C) to OOP (first C++ and now Cocoa) and using Object-oriented frameworks (first MacApp and now Cocoa) was fairly painful. There is a slightly different mindset involved in object oriented programming. A large part of the struggle is that you'll probably be trying to learn not only OOP concepts and the syntax of the language but also an entire framework of objects and how to use them in your programs. Just try not to get too frustrated or bogged down with the frameworks themselves.
Start small and try to understand the syntax and messaging concepts. Pick a few objects from the Cocoa frameworks and start working with them. Build some of the small example applications that come with XCode, set some breakpoints in the source and run them in the debugger to see how they "flow". Eventually more and more of the frameworks will begin to make sense.

  • Can't see bottom of window on Air 11.6

    Hi there!
I have a problem with my MB Air 11.6 and Motion 5.
The thing is I can't see the bottom of the program(the part with the timecode, zoom timeline ect.). There is no way to scale the window any smaller and when I maximize it I can't see it either.
The system requirements says you need at least 1280 x 768 resolution and the MB Air is 1366 x 768, so that shouldn't be any problem...
    Anyone have an idea?
    Thanks!
    Anders

Ahh sorry, i just realised you said Motion 5, I thought you were talking about Final cut pro for some reason.
I too am having this problem. i only noticed yesterday when i had to click the button at the bottom that changes the timeline to the key frame line.
I found a way but its not ideal or the correct way... Move the curser to the side of the screen so you can adjust the width of the screen and pull the screen edge in a little bit fast, this causes the botton of the screen to shrink just a little so you can get to the controls.
Like i said this is not what you should have to do and i woyld like to know the propper way too if anyone knows.
    thank you.

  • Make marker overlays bigger in the program

Hi, I am using a lot of markers in sequences and I like to navigate through them. Is there a way to make the marker identification that is at the bottom of the program window bigger?
Right now The marker name is so tiny it's hard to read. Plus, it's black on a red background and becomes unreadable depending on the still image that is under.
    Thanks

If you need to increase or decrease the size of fonts and other elements in the user interface and web pages then increase the String pref layout.css.devPixelsPerPx from 1.0 to 2.0 in 0.1 steps to see what works best.
In current Firefox versions this pref is a String value parsed to a float and allows to fine tune the dimensions of all elements (user interface and web pages) more precisely.
    See also http://kb.mozillazine.org/about%3Aconfig
If the content on websites needs to be adjusted after changing prefs then you can look at NoSquint or Default FullZoom Level.

  • Photos Program Not Showing All Options

I updated my iPhone's OS to iOS4 yesterday. In my Photos program, I am missing two tabs at the bottom of the program window, the Faces tab most notably. I only have the Albums and Places tabs.
This means that I cannot created folders or move my pictures as I thought I was going to be able to.
Can someone provide me with an answer as to why this happened or what I need to do to resolve the issue?
    Thank you.

I had Events and Faces... and then it went away. Even Anandtech.com (http://www.anandtech.com/show/3779/apples-ios-4-explored/5) only shows Albums and Places. I have verified that I have Faces checked in iTunes for syncing.
How many photos do you have in your library? I started out with <2000. It seems that as soon as I piled on more photos, the Events and Faces options disappeared. I have 9700 on the phone right now.
