Gap at top of W530 keyboard after installing RAM?

Hey I installed some Corsair Ram in slot 1 and 2 underneath the keyboard and after reinstalling the keyboard Ive noticed theres a gap at the top of the keyboard where it slots into the computer the whole way across specifically in the middle where theres alot of flex. The plastic which has the power and volume buttons seems to move around when pressed. This seems to be letting in dust and would especially allow a spill to enter the machine. This doesn't seem normal for a well built machine and have I installed the keyboard wrong? Any advice/opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks

This is actually normal. I have this gaping gap in 3 of my own W530, and 4 of the W530 at work also have this.

• What do I need to do AFTER installing RAM

OK
I just upgraded two G5 dual processor machines in my dept.
Went from 2.5G to 4G in one and 1G to 4G in the other.
I really have not noticed any sizeable improvement in speed.
System profiler says "OK" on memory. They are all matched, same brand etc...
MAC HELP did not have any tips about installing RAM.
My question is; must I do anything AFTER installing RAM such as reset PRAM, permissions etc...

No. There is nothing more you need to do.
Going from 2.5 to 4 will probably not make that much difference, unless you are using high-end apps like Final Cut Pro that use a lot of RAM, or you run many apps at the same time.
I definitely noticed a big difference going from 0.5 to 1.5. I only noticed a small difference going from 1.5 to 2.5.

• Problems using Keyboard after installing Snow Leopard

hey Everyone I'm using a 13.3" Macbook Pro (summer 2009) and I recently took the plunge of installing Snow Leopard. I've installed the two new upgrades for it as well, but I am having troubles with my keyboard specifically in regards to copy/pasting, using the command Key short cut and even the delete button.
If anyone is having these problems as well let me know! And also if there are any quick fixes for this.

I'm also having an issue with my keyboard after upgrading to snow leopard, but not on my laptops native keyboard, that works just fine.
My issue is that I switched the Control and Command keys in the Keyboard > Modifier Keys... settings for all of the keyboards in the drop down menu so Control = Command and Command = Control.
This change worked correctly for my native laptop keyboard, but my external aluminum USB Apple keyboard (which is plugged into the USB port of my apple LED Cinema Display monitor) did not switch.
I've reset all of the modifier keys back to default settings and started over again several times, I've switch the USB port my keyboard was plugged into to another port on the monitor and even another port on the laptop, but nothing seems to work. It's driving me crazy, please help!

• MacBook sleep light remains on after installing ram

After installing 2x2G of RAM into my MacBook 4,1 the sleep indicator light remains on and the display in blank. My MacBook then properly booted after installing the old RAM. Any suggestions?

Try one new RAM stick with one old RAM stick. If it starts up then you've got RAM that was made with PCs in mind. PC are less picky than Macs about the speed of their RAM so 667mhz RAM is often overclocked to 675mhz and runs at variable speed to make it compatable with more PCs. PCs have the hardware to run the RAM at the speed that works best for them. MacBooks require RAM that only runs at 667mhz. By putting one good stick in it forces the other one to run at the correct speed.

• Is anyone else having trouble with their keyboards after installing iOS 7.1?

A few days ago, when the update for iOS 7 came up for me to upgrade to 7.1, I went ahead and upgraded it. After that, my iPad's internal keyboard and the external one I got for it started lagging for no reason.
I contacted Apple about it and they said to wipe my iPad. After it came up, my internal Keyboard started working like normal again. (I haven't tried my external yet but I'm sure it'll work too.)
From there, I went ahead and restored my iPad from my iTunes... and the problem came back since my iTunes had 7.1 saved on it.
What I'd like to know is what happened and why did this happen and if anyone else has had the same problem as me?

Try resetting the keyboard dictionary

• Mac Three Beeps after install RAM. Again.

Greetings
Introduction
I've seen all discussions on the topic and still decided to create new one in order to collect information.
I've joined the club. Now I also have Macbook Pro, which freezes and beeps three times from time to time.
I often attend to pubic lectures, or give a presentation myself, so this beeping issue is not acceptable for me.
Description
Problems began when upgraded my RAM to 16GB (two Corsair CMSO8GX3M1A1333C9 modules).
After random period of time (10 minutes - 3 days) my MacBook Pro freezes and beeps three times until I do hard shutdown.
I checked my new RAM (each module separately) with memtest.
One of modules was bad and I changed it from merchant.
Replaced it. Still beeping
Checked both modules with memetest again (10 runs, each module separately). No errors. Still beeping
Performed PRAM reset. Still beeping
Performed SMC reset. Still beeping
Disabled SMS. Everything was fine for 3 days and moment I began feeling happy it beeped.
Ran memtest on both modules simultaneously. Got kernel panic ("kernel trap at ...")
I suspect that problem is not in memory itself (since both modules passed quite intensive tests) but that something brakes when I put two of them together...
Maybe Mac is not able to process them in right way or something...
Summary
Mac: MacBookPro Early 2011
RAM: 16GB, 2 x Corsair CMSO8GX3M1A1333C9
Status: Periodic beeping and freezing
Didn't help: Switching memory slots, Replacing faulty module, Disabling SMS (Sudden Motion Sensor), Resetting PRAM, Resetting SMC
Helped: nothing yet
Main question
Is there any way I can diagnose everything and pinpoint source of the problem?
Since nobody can answer that, I suggest we try empirical approach and just figure out which RAM models work fine.
Conclusion
I would like to collect success and failure stories:
You upgraded RAM and you have same problem and nothing helps
You upgraded RAM, had this problem and something helped
You upgraded RAM and everything is fine
Please leave your comments in following format
Mac: your Mac model
RAM: memory type and model
Status: Still beeps / Fixed / Everything was fine from beginning
Didn't help: List of step you did to fix the problem and failed
Helped: Steps which lead you to fixing the problem
Let's collect enough of such data and we might me able to see the pattern and come up with idea how to avoid The Problem.
- Ilya

With the link you provided for the Corsair RAM you purchased.
The one you provided in your link is a PC notebook/laptop RAM - see image of your link below:
The one you need for your Macbook Pro has a different part number - see image below:
Best to return and exchange it for the right one so you won't have any issues for your Macbook Pro.
Or you can install Crucial 16GB (i have this in my 2011 13 Inch Macbook Pro) or 16GB Patriot Mac Series (I have this in my 2011 15 Inch Macbook Pro).
Good luck - hope you get it sorted out.

• "Service battery" msg after installing ram

Hello, I have some trouble with my macbook (6.1 with OSsl 10.6.8).
I installed some RAM yesterday (up to 4GB from 2GB, 2x 2GB SODIMMS) and everything was OK.
I wake up this morning and opened the lid (I didn't shut down last night) and macbook is "dead", like the battery is drained, but the led in front side was lit.
Anyway I connected the power and tried to start the system. Nothing, I closed the lid and opened it again and it started, once I went in OS I realized that the battery is at 57% so it doesn't make sense on why it shutted down...
Also it says at the battery icon "service battery" now, even if it seems to function normaly and the cocconut battery is not reporting anything unusal.
When I installed the new RAM I unplugged the battery from the main board to avoid any static electricity damage, I installed the RAM and then just plugged back the battery.
I followed a picture by picture guide from ifix it (just in case it helps) and didn't touched anything else, or at least I think so.
I reopened and unplugged/plugged the battery on the board again but nothing changed.
Any idea on what I possible did wrong or umplugged by accident?
Thanks in advance.

Sorry for the double post, but I can't find any edit button.
I noticed that the behavior from this morning is coming back again when I close the lid for more than a few minutes.
When I open the lid the monitor is not open and after I press the power button for a few moments to close and press it again it is like recovering the last session from a battery drain fall asleep.

• Problem after installing RAM

I have recently installed an extra 512 megs of RAM to my 12" G4 powerbook. it originally came with 256 megs. However now when i open and close programs, bits of the picture from the programme i was using stays on the screen and i have to click and drag over them with the mouse to get rid of them. it happens when using programmes too and clicking certain buttons, the image the buttons give stays on the screen. I am mostly using the mac with pro-tools LE 6.4 and my operating system is osx 10.3.3
if anybody could shed any light on this it would be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance.

Seamus, unfortunately, many users expieriance this by buying bargin basement or cheap Ram.
This is not to say the Ram you bought is cheap.
But Powerbook's are very picky about the Ram they will accept without problems.
Most MAC users recommend buying Lifetime Warranty.
There are several different companys that offer and sell this more reliable RAM.
There are several located in most Mac Magazines.
Mac Solutions.com is one.
DMS Certified Memory..800-662-7466
Other World Computing..800-275-4576 visitmacsales.com
The 3 listed above offer Lifetime Warranty.

• Macbook Pro Freezes At Startup after installing ram

Hey guys, hopefully some one has more knowledge than i do on this
my macbook pro came with 4gb of ram and so i have decided to upgrade to 8gb. the manual and the computer itself sais i can upgrade to 8 gb no problem, (2x4gb) so i rodered the ram, and i have quadruple checked it isz the right ram. upon putting both 4gb modules in, it would start up, and the little loading wheel under the apple logo would spin, n spin, then stop. so, i took the ram out, i put in one old module and one new module, and it works, the computer registers having 6gb of ram. i mizxed up all the modules and both new ram sticks work, and both ram ports work, the computer will show me which is which in the about this mac thing, but it just wont except the full 8gb!!!
i did not touch the gold metal on any ram sticks, i did touch metal to get rid of sttic, i have done the p ram reset, (but i didnt need to do it with the 6gb installed) and i have no idea what else to do :?

... and i have no idea what else to do :?
Return that RAM and buy either the Crucial ram (http://www.crucial.com) for your system or buy from OWC (http://www.macsales.com). I've used Cruical ram in many systems over the years with no issues, and have bought Samsung (factory fill) from OWC with no issues either.

• IBook G4 - Problems Starting after installing RAM

I installed a 512 MB RAM chip last night, triple-checked it for correct specifications. I've installed, uninstalled, and re-installed it several times, each time getting the same problem. I turn my iBook on, the start-up screen does its thing, and then it stops at the message "Login Window starting," right before my desktop would normally load. This does this with and without the RAM installed. I tried the disk utility CD 1, and it didn't seem to do any good. Any suggestions?

Does the iBook boot and run from the install CD?
If so run DiskUtility from the pull down menu. Still runs OK?
This would seem to indicate pretty good functionality.
Is it possible your software configuration wasn't healthy before you installed the RAM? You might have to do a re-install of the OS.

Hello,

I just purchased DDR3 memory, (2x4 for a total of 8 gigabytes) to replace the 3 gigabytes in my HP 2000-299WM laptop. • W510 Remove keyboard to install Ram

I have removed the two short screws for the back side Ram cover and the two 14mm screws as described by Lenovo document.
It now says to push down on the keyboard toward the rear of the keyboard until the front edge disengages.
Where have you pushed and with how much pressure?
I have pushed down and back with moderate pressure with one thumb at F7 and F8 key area without any results.
Any advice and tricks for this step are appreciated.

Got it myself - It is more of a push horitzontally, and while the front side of keyboard does disengage, I would not describe it as Lenovo does; it simply disengages but does not tilt upward.

• Bluetooth Keyboard/Mouse/Trackpad won't automatically connect after installing Boot Camp

Hey guys!
Another peculiar thing happened to me today with my 3-week-old maxed-out 2012 iMac (other than it kernel panicking when I powered it down the other day...did I mention this was 3 weeks old?).
After installing Boot Camp which I will never do again, my iMac (on the OS X side) no longer recognizes my stock Apple Wireless Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, or Magic Mouse automatically, until I press a button on the keyboard and wait 5 seconds, click the trackpad and wait 5 seconds, or click the mouse and wait 5 seconds.
(The Windows 8 Boot Camp side pairs with the devices immediately after Windows boots, which leads me to believe that the bluetooth devices are defaulting to look for Windows.)
One of my huge fears I had when considering purchasing an iMac is that the Bluetooth devices wouldn't immediately connect. Being a power-user with former Mac notebooks and working understandably fast having owned a web development company for 8 years now and not having to worry about Bluetooth device pairing, I'd like to think this fear is substantiated. But after first use (before installing Windows 8 with Boot Camp Assistant) it functioned normally and the iMac would automatically discover my peripherals and connect them by the time time computer turned on. I also had no trouble holding the Option key on boot to select a boot device....
Now, ever since I set up Windows 8 on the Boot Camp partition and paired the keyboard/mouse/trackpad to Windows, the Mac side completely ignores the keyboard/mouse/trackpad until I click a button on each.
I'm trying to keep it together but this is raging me out.
I went into Windows, immediately unpaired the 3 peripherals from windows and now use a wired keyboard/mouse with Windows (yay, desk space!), deleted the items entirely from the bluetooth panel, then booted to Mac and did the same thing. I then re-paired the devices to the OS X side andddd...no go! Still doesn't find them automatically. I am extremely upset by this and can't seem to fix it.
To summarize, my two issues are:
A. The iMac in OS X does not automatically recognize my bluetooth peripherals until I click a button on each and wait a couple seconds for them to pair.
B. I cannot hold Option to select a boot device (or choose Windows/Mac for example) because the computer doesn't recognize the keyboard until OS X boots and I press a key.
Please...for the love of god...someone help me, and stop me from formatting my entire computer over this issue.

I don't have a logitech mouse, but is it possible that the mouse is going to sleep during the reboot, and is thus unavailable when the OS is looking for it?
