Gap on bottom between glass and frame

Hi all,
I got a D6653 last week, absolutely loving it BTW.  However, I've come to noticed a decent gap on the bottom of the device, between the glass and frame.  I don't see the same gap on top, which makes me think it's a manufacturing issue.  But, when I look at the back of the device, I see the same thing.  Does anyone else see this?  Is it normal?  This is my first Xperia device.
The gap is starting to collect particles and it's looking very unattractive about now (only in 4 days).  Also, it makes me question the waterproof capabilitly.  I would imagine the phone assembly would have to be very tight to be able to make that promise.
Would appreciate any feedback, thanks.

Any pictures?
It's definitely a manufacturing error, and you should get a replacement. I have the Z2 and have a LOT of gaps. Fortunately the device is still waterproof, but it doesn't feel right when you notice the gaps.
Just get a replacement (should be covered).

  • Xperia z3 D6603 concern over gaps between glass and frame.

    Hello,
I recently upgraded my ion to z3. And there is no doubt that it's an amazing phone.
But I have some concerns regarding the small gaps between glass panel and metal frame. It gets dust and more over that I am worried about its waterproofing. I want to know is it normal for all z3 out there or is it just me? What if it can't handle water in this regard?
    There are some pictures.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This subject has been mentioned many times before, from the Z all the way thru the models up to the Z3.......you have to have some uniform gap between the panels & the bezel...this is to allow some form of expansion due to temp changes, if you think about it.......if it was packed tight & the phone heats up the expansion would have nowhere to go resulting in damage. The gaps do not mean that you have a waterproof issue either.....
    Hope this helps

  • Gap between glass and metal band.

I have a really thin gaps between the glass and metal band in the upper front and back right corner, and was wondering if anyone else has noticed small gaps between the glass and metal band anywhere on their phone. ive had nothing but crappy customer service at both apple stores near me, but was eventually told by the "genius" that i could come back with another appointment before the 30 days and swap for a new retail phone in the box.
The only thing that worries me is getting a whole new phone with more different problems then the one i have with only the gap issue. The "genius" also told me that im the first one that has had this issue, yet ive seen threads about a month or so ago with people saying they had the same issue. so as an update, has anyone noticed this now?

ya, but this isnt the first time ive had bad customer service with apple. Granted it was a different apple store, but about 3 days after i bought the phone i made an appointment, and took it in for the same separation issue. This time the guy seemed almost clueless as he had to ask his co workers questions i was asking him. Thankfully a manager overheard the situation and informed him that it was an issue that needed to be taken care of. So the guy goes to the back, comes out with a phone from the black box (At the time i had no clue of how the black boxes worked), and i ask if it was a new or refurbished phone, and he assured me it was a new one.
So after inspecting the phone i noticed another gap in the glass and told the worker and he replies with "its not that bad, i dont think yours was that bad either". after seeing the same issue and getting his response, i decided to just keep mine and make a different appointment at another store (Today). Oh, might I add that after we leave the store, my girlfriend tells me that as i picked up the phone to inspect it, the guy rolls his eyes. Just experiences like these leave a biter taste in my mouth. its sad that a couple experiences from non corporate workers would make me start to dislike a company.

  • Seal Between Glass And Chrome Is Peeling Back...

I noticed this morning as I was keeping my iPhone nice and shiny with the provided cleaning cloth that the rubber seal between the glass and the chrome accent is slightly starting to peel back on the bottom left corner...
It's only minor right now but if you gently run your finger over the imperfection the rubber shifts out of place every time...It's an issue that I think will only worsen with time I'm sure...Not to mention the imperfection is aesthetically unpleasing now that I've noticed it...
Is this something that the Apple Store would be willing to fix/replace under warranty and has anyone else had this issue?
    Thanks!

Outfitting your phone with a case should not be a solution. As much as I respect peoples decision to use a case; iphone, ipod, I find it funny to hear them talk about how beautiful the ipod is yet their player looks like <edited by host>. I mean, you don't see BMW drivers driving around with car covers, do you? You lose the aesthetic beauty of the product. Just a personal observation. Peace.

  • Using session storage between Report and Frame Driver

I have an existing report that has a link calling a frame driver with multiple forms. I would like to make the Initial Target Frame Content dynamic based on information contained in the targeted record of the report. I am able to make this work (in basic concept) on the frame driver side, but have not been able to pass session variables from the report side. I can, of course, pass bind variables via a link from the report. Does anyone know of a way to access the parameter bind varaiables in the frame driver component using session storage or something else in order to make these variables available to the PL/Sql of the Initial Target Frame?

Seems that session is changed during logon or even if
web page (where the servlet is located) is refreshed! In Portal 10g (and maybe even in 9.0.2.6) the Web provider session is not lost any more when the user logs in to Portal.
PL/SQL doesn't lost the session storage data during
logon. But is it possible to find Java session storage
from PL/SQL session storage? No, you cannot share the session between database and Web providers. You need to find other ways to share information between portlets belonging to different providers. You can use parameter passing, or a persistent store, such as the database.
Java session storage doesn't use domain name or
subdomain which are mandatory for PL/SQL session
storage. The domain, sub-domain strings are irrelevant, as long as you can uniquely identify your session variable. For example, if you want to make sure that you have a separate session variable for every portlet instance, you should include the preference path in your domain or sub-domain. In case you want to share the session store between your portlets, don't include the unique portlet ID.

  • How to remove water from between glass and lcd

I took my phone into repair a few weeks back and probably got non OEM parts. Now after having my phone near the pool for a couple of swims, I've got water stuck between the glass and LCD. The phone works fine. Just lots of spots on the screen. Best way to dry out? Rice? Take it apart? Open to some suggestions. Thanks.

Put in a bowl covered by uncooked rice on a radiator or heated floor for min 48hours

  • White spec between glass and screen...

There is a white spec under the glass on my iPad. It's very annoying. Before I go to the Apple store, I'd like to know what it is that they can do for me.
It's easy to see when the screen is locked and not showing anything.

As you said, there is foreign material between the glass and the LCD screen. Apple may replace your iPad with another one if you bring it to the Genius bar. However, they may say that the iPad is acceptable with that minor defect.

  • Dust, Debris In Between Glass and LCD

    Hi,
A few months ago I purchased a Macbook Pro 13", it is not the newest revision with the nvidia320 graphics, its the older.
Anyways, just a couple days ago, I opened the computer and noticed two pieces of dust in between the glass and display right it the middle of course about two inches apart, they for sure are not dead or stuck pixels as I can get them to move just a tad if I give the screen a few good taps but I don't want to screw up anything, plus a few more specks have came and gone since this started (seemingly moving across the screen over a couple days) but the original two specks are still there it seems to be getting worse and I'm concerned by a month or two the screen is going to have dozens of these specs. I keep my screen and computer super clean, I'm a bit neurotic about that which is why it annoys me so much. I'm wondering if I have a leak i the seal around my screen or something.
Once you see these things you can't un-see them. To make matters worse, I haven't yet bought the applecare but it is still within the one year warranty, and its the old model so I don't know if they would even be able to replace it for me if they could as I'm sure they have started caring only the newest revision. Which would be a problem for me if they just opted to swap the whole thing since I got the faster 2.53 model and not the base, and from the looks of it the newer model only comes in 2.4ghz and 2.66 respectively.
TL;DR, I have an appointment at an Apple Store tomorrow to have them check it out but I don't know if they are going to want me to pay to replace the screen or what, since I don't have apple care but I'm still under 1 year warranty? I'm curious if anyone else has been in a similar situation. This seems likes its a manufacturers defect and not anything I could have caused. It already seemed like I was pulling their teeth when I got my Macbook Pro originally it had several dead pixels and I was able to get them to swap it out so I'm wondering what kind of freak their going to think I am when I show them these pieces of dust lol. But man are they annoying, has anyone else went through this on a model over two weeks old?

    Hello,
After reading the post and review the pictures I think I have the same problem.
I bought a MacBook Pro 13" in December 2009 (still under warranty) through Apple Store and I noticed what I thought was a dead pixel. Looking better, even with the screen off, there is something in the sector. I took it to an Apple service and said it was a speck of dust behind the glass. I made the request to repair to Apple Care and have not had a response succesfull.
Would greatly appreciate any suggestions from you guys.
    Greetings.

  • Finger shock when touching between glass and bezel

    Hi
Follow up to my previous post I have noticed a small shock when placeing my finger on the glass and the bezel that runs over the tip of my finger!
My previous post I was getting wierd arm sensations using the phone without it pluged in like a poorly placed slendertone (muscle stimulator) machine as wierd as that sounds I like to say this is a wind up but it really aint!
I thought I was going mad but theres defo something up with this phone sometimes its quite painfull like a deep ache in my muscle up to my elbo even a friend of mine can feel the tingle up her arm.
Any ideas of a fix or is it an apple service? I really am anoyed now this is my 3rd Iphone and this one works flawless and has a brill screen etc I dont want to part with it!
    cARL

I've been getting electric shocks too. I have a rubber case on my g3s and if my finger gets close to the silence button it will give a nasty shock similiar to a pin jabbing me. At first I used to check to make sure I was not bleeding from a splinter or something. Not sure if it is static but it certainly feels stronger and thinner than a usual static bolt and I could not see the bolt like you can with regular static shock.
I've heard of other guys getting shocked in the face or ear and dropping their phones. One other site talking about insurance for iphones (lol) tells of their daughter getting a bad zap in the car and she dropped the phone smashing the screen. From the online frequency of this (example: http://www.cnet.com.au/apple-warns-of-static-shock-from-iphone-ipod-339296535.ht m ) I am wondering if there is something faulty in the insulation? It seems that the ear bud shock forums would all be related too since electricity does not care how it gets out to shock the **** out of you.
Im still not sold that it is definitely static. If it is, does anyone know if there are good ways of discharging the static, if that's what it really is (im sure there's plenty of devotees ready to swear on their life it is just static so don't bother telling me that unless you can back it up with technical reasons why it is much sharper than a regular static shock, stings like a needle rather than buzzes, and cannot be seen like the usual static shock).
Apple: Since the complaints seem to be frequent have Apple actually investigated and did any testing on the internal grounding due to these complaints? If so - What was the outcome?
Apple: Has Apple checking into shock reduction if using three prong ac jacks?
    Thanks,

  • Gap between glass and bezel on iPhone 5?

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/78962116@N07/8405746907/in/photostream/
See the link above (theres a picture) for the image.
So guys, I purchased my iPhone 5 this Saturday and, having not dropped, banged, or anything of the sort to my phone since then, I noticed this gap between the glass pane at the top of the phone's back and the bezel surrounding the device.
I am so completely OCD about things like this, and so everytime I pick up my phone, I have to look at it... I hate it. I have looked at several other white iPhone 5s in person, and none have this issue. I am debating wether to take it to the Apple Store or not.
Also, the sleep/wake and volume buttons feel extremely loose and they were not on either of the other devices I held.

What if I purchased the phone from an AT&T store, not an Apple Store? Will that affect anything? And how long do I have the warranty until (I have a normal warranty, not extended)?
    ^Sorry for all the questions!

  • Slight gap at corners between LCD and base when closed

    Hello,
I just got a brand new MBP 15" the other day and I noticed that when it is closed, the screen is not perfectly flush against the base of the computer. Rather, it is flush where it is latched in the center, and a slightly widening gap expands to the corners, where it is at its widest (about 2mm).
Is this normal, or is the lcd on my laptop slightly warped?
Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

    BulletzBill,
It's entirely normal. Nothing to worry about.

  • Dead pixel and something stuck between glass and LCD

Just got a new Apple Thunderbolt Display (27-inch). As you can see from the photo below there is one dead pixel and some material stuck (that move around a little when you press the screen).
Apple will replace this if I take it back won't they?

You can exchange for a new one (that is what I did).  However, using suction cups you can remove the glass screen for cleaning( only held on with magnets).  Of course that will not solve the pixel being out which is unusual for TBD.
