Gapless isn't quite as good as 5G

As the topic states. Gapless playback is amazing on the 5G. I can't here it all. But the new nano is trying to hard. I think it's atually skipping ahead on the next track a tiny bit. It is gapless but not "Did it go the next track already?" gapless. There is a blip. It's more noticable on quiter transitions.

With the new firmware the 5G will now play gapless (beautifully I might add). I'm not sure about the old nano but the new nano is supposed to play gapless as well as the enhanced 5G.

  • Serial Number isn't copied when Goods Issue reference to order

    Dear All,
I had maintained serial number profile in material master but I still have a problem when i want to goods issue (TCode MB1A) the material with serial number from refurbishment order (order type PM04).
Why the serial number isn't copied automatically from the serial number that i had entered before in the refurbishment order. it still asked to enter serial number. Logically, it should be listed from the serial number in refurbihsment order.
Is there any configuration that i must do?
    Best Regards,
    Albert J.

  • Safari quit for good!

I'm having the same problem should I start a new thread or can someone help me from here. My dd and ds were playing a game from Nick jr.... the game could get full screen and it quit safari and and now safari won't start it just bounces once in the dock and doesn't load. I created another user and safari won't work in there either. Could i just copy Safari off another mac and and copy it onto mine. Would that work or do I have to get a download as well? I hope I can get some help too...love Safari! Here's the last crash log on my log of safari.

    Hello Michele:
Things have gotten a bit tangled up since I last looked at the thread. The poster that suggested you update Safari appears to be a Windows user. The latest version of Safari (2.0.4) will not run on your OS X 10.3.x - so do not worry about that.
Pacifist is a program that allows you to selectively extract programs from your software install DVD.
You said you restored everything. What, exactly, did you do? At this point, I would use your software install DVD to do an archive and install:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
Archive and install will install a pristine copy of OS X while, at the same time, keeping your files, programs, and settings.
Incidentally, it is a bit late for this, but you should have a good backup/retreat strategy. I make bootable clones of my iMacs on an external firewire drive using a little program called SuperDuper ($28 at www.shirt-pocket.com) In that way, I can always restore to a working system in the event of a hardware or software problem.
It appears that several things are wrong (besides Safari), so the archive and install would seem to be the best way to get your system running normally again. You would, of course, need to update your software (use software update in System Preferences) to bring your system programs up to the current level for OS X 10.3.
    Barry
P.S. I just saw your latest post. You are at the last release level of OS X 10.3). You cannot "upgrade" to OS X 10.4 without buying a retail version.

  • How can I get rid of BrowseStudio on my laptop. I've had to change to Chrome which isn't half a good as Firefox.t's driving me c

BrowseStudio is an adware virus that is infuriatingly possessive. I've fitted AVG antivirus, done Microsoft Essentials and Spybot check to no avail. I Googled for solutions but none of them worked. In desperation I took it to a computer shop but they couldn't fix it, so I uninstalled Firefox and tried out Explorer. I rate if 6/10. Then tried Chrome which is okay except for the way they manage bookmarks, so I scored that 7/10. I fussed about for a few days then decided to download Firefox again as I love it. It hadn't been operating for ten minutes when all the adware returned. How can this be? Has it not been properly uninstalled? Can anybody help?

hello Baldeagle176, please perform all these steps:
    # [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems|reset firefox]] (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
    # afterwards go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
    # finally run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] and [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner] to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.

  • HT2534 ummm, we don't have the none button to select for our payment type, how can you set it up without that button or a credit card??? apple isn't doing to good of a job so far and i'm not impressed

Hi, I'm setting up an account for my brother, but apparently we need a credit card. Neither of us own one and the system won't let us continue without one. Now I know that there's supposed to be a none selection, but it won't appear on ours. How can we continue if we don't have a credit card or the none selection button??? Help us please!!!!

When I created a new account on my computer's iTunes yesterday, I first logged out of my existing account. I then found a free app in the store, clicked on it's free 'price' to 'buy' it, clicked on 'create Apple id' and filled in details about the new account and which gave me the option of 'none' for the payment details - clicking on the 'verify' email that I received then allowed me to download a free app.
That is the process that you are using when you tried to create both new accounts ? The instructions won't work on existing accounts (even if the account has only been partially created), and you are in the country that you are trying to create the account for ?

  • Merging layers isn't quite the same

Hi... I actually have a layer merging question in CS5.
I have a document with three "normal" layers and two hue/saturation adjustment layers. They're at the top. The next two layers, and the adjustment layers, have layer masks. The bottom layer has no mask. The blend mode between the fourth and fifth layers (counting from the top) is "Hard Light".  The blend mode for all other layers is "normal", and all opacities are 100%.
When I flatten the layers, what I get is not what I had before the layers are different, hard to describe exactly how.  I notice that if I merge the fourth and fifth layers (with the "Hard Light" blend mode), and only those two layers, I get the same behavior as when I flatten the entire image.
So why would merging two layers that have the "Hard Light" blend mode at 100% opacity look different than when the layers aren't merged?
I hope I was clear in describing this... kinda hard w/o screen shots.
    Thanks for your help!
    -Eric

    Thanks again everyone!
I'm seeing something similar to what you show here Charles, and since I can post screen shots, here's what I'm seeing:
    Before flattening:
    After flattening:
So... I have to ask the question... why?
Why is the 16.67% view not accurate?  At 100%, I can't see all of this image... not even close, and I prefer to see all of an image when I'm working on it.  It would just be a horrible workflow to have to keep zooming in and out, and/or or panning all over place and/or flattening and undoing over and over.
Is this what people have to do on a regular basis?
I don't claim to be any kind of Photoshop power-user (though I've been using it since version 3), but I've never come across this before.  I can't believe there's no workaround so that "what I see is what I get", even if I'm not at 100%.
So, thank you all for your help and explaining what's going on, but any thoughts on how to "fix" this behavior?  Or is it not even possible?  That'd be a bummer.
    Thanks again!
    -Eric

  • Report Engine SDK sample code questions

    Hello,
I've been able to view a boxi report in an iframe via the Enterprise SDK by modifying the sample code in the HowToViewWebiReports_VB example.
I'm not totally happy with the way that's working, so I'm looking at using the Report Engine SDK, although I understand it's performance and scalability isn't quite as good as the Enterprise SDK.
I'm a VB.NET guy, not a C# guy, and I'm not clear on how the wssdk_net2.0_portal_sample_12.0_en example is supposed to work.
I don't have one and my CMS server is running Tomcat, not IIS so there's not going to be an ASP.NET web service running there.
In the dsws.config for the wssdk_net2.0_portal_sample_12.0_en example I put the name of the CMS server, but it's looking for a web service at http://cmsservername:8080/dswsbobje/services/Session, but I get a 404 when i try to hit that.
I'm not familiar with Tomcat, but in searching around on the server, I see a dswsbobje directory under the webapps in my Tomcat installation, but I don't see a services or a Session folder underneath that.  In the dswsbobje folder I see the following folders:
    BOAR-INF
    META-INF
    WEB-INF
    xsd
Is there something else that needs to be installed on the Tomcat server to get the web service running?
    -Eric

It looks like I have something there.  When I launch launch http://servername:8080/dswsbobje,  I see:
    Apache-AXIS
    Hello! Welcome to Apache-Axis.
What do you want to do today?
    Validate the local installation's configuration
see below if this does not work.
To enable the disabled features, uncomment the appropriate declarations in WEB-INF/web.xml in the webapplication and restart it.
    Validating Axis
If the "happyaxis" validation page displays an exception instead of a status page, the likely cause is that you have multiple XML parsers in your classpath. Clean up your classpath by eliminating extraneous parsers.
I clicked on the "Validate" link and I see:
    Axis Happiness Page

    QaaWS Configuration
    QaaWS Servlet is not valid.
ErrorServer servername not found or server may be down
See Web Application log to get more info or read QaaWS v2 documentation starting with section
Perhaps this environment needs some additional configuration?

  • Can't print PDFs from Adobe Reader 7!

A few months ago I started having problems printing from Adobe Reader 7.
I can view PDFs fine. I can also view PDFs online through Safari with the Adobe Reader plug in.
What I've resorted to doing is using Preview to open PDFs that I've saved from Adobe Reader, and I can print fine through Preview.
But that isn't quite a good fix for me!
I can also print documents in other formats from plenty of other applications, so I know it's not a printer-talking-to-Mac issue.
What happens is this - I have a PDF open in Adobe and send it to print. The printer comes up in the dock like its working. After an appropriate amount of time (the time one would expect the document to print), it disappears from the dock as though it is done printing. But no document ever prints. And the printer never displays that it is receiving information to print.
Yesterday I spent a good chunk of time working on this problem to no avail.
I ran "detect and repair" in Adobe Reader but no problems were found.
I threw away Adobe Reader 7 (I think I was up to 7.0.7) and its preferences and other files and downloaded and installed Reader 6. I still couldn't print from Reader.
I installed patches and updates incrementally to from Reader 6 to 7.0.5 by allowing Reader to update itself, but that didn't help.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer. That didn't fix the problem.
I tried printing the document through Reader as an "image," but it just crashed the Reader.
I also downloaded and ran "Printer Setup Repair" (something I saw suggested in someone else's post about an Adobe print problem) but that didn't help matters either.
I'm sort of stumped. I'll also post this to the Adobe forums, but from what I've seen the folks over there are not really Mac users.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Cheers!

    Ann,
A few more thoughts or your dilemma...You might try looking at your system.log with the utility Console to see if it might give you a clue to the problem. (Not that I understand all the stuff in those logs, but when MS Word and Quark did not produce printouts, the Console log named the problem fonts.)
The culprit may be the Adobe Reader PPD or Plugin. The path to those are HD/Library/Printers/PPDs/Resources/en.lproj/ADPDF7.PPD and HD/Library/Printers/PPD Plugins/AdobePDFPDE700.plugin. So if you try deleting Adobe Reader stuff again, be sure to delete those docs too, before re-installing.
Note: I use Acorbat Pro 7 so I do not know if the filenames ADPDF7.PPD and AdobePDFPDE700.plugin are the same for Reader, but the paths might be helpful.
Before uninstalling and re-installing both Adobe PhotoShop and Reader, I would suggest that you check the integrity of you hard drive. Overtime, stuff gets out of place and some applications are more sensitive than others. If there is something wrong on the hard drive, replacing the applications will still produce the same problem. Repairing disk is different from repairing permissions. As in my previous post, boot up your computer with your OS 10.3.x Install Disk 1 and launch the Disk Utility app from the CD. Click on Repair Disk...
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I reformat my external drive for Time Machine?

I think I might have messed up My Passport (external hard drive) when I disconnected my iMac to take it to the Apple Store to have the screen repaired (was replaced).  I turned Time Machine off before I disconnected the external hard drive but didn't eject it.  I reconnected everything Monday morning and it was backing up fine until this afternoon but suddenly stopped and gave me warning messages about it not being able to back up.  The message directed me to Repair Disk which I tried but that didn't work.  and I was "told" to reformat the drive.  But when I reconnect it to my mac, the mac doesn't recognize that its there.  I don't know if its worth trying to fix, or if I should just get a new one.  (I have an on line back up service so all my data is safe and backed up elsewhere).  I've only had the drive for maybe 6 mts, or a little longer and I know it was far from full.  I have Time Machine turned off now and the drive disconnected .  Is it worth repairing.  If there is something wrong with it a new one might make more sense.  I hope I have explained this okay.   Thanks for any suggestions.  It is a Western Digital external drive.
    laverne's mom

WD drives are not all that reliable according to some reports going around.
And BUS powered drives are not good choices for backups if it's drawing too much current, Apple can cut if off in a update, use self powered drives instead.
You can use the drive, but as a transport drive, not as a vital backup.
TM drive isn't quite as good as a backup as it could be, and online storage is slow to upload and can be compromised or lost (it's happened before) so you should diversify more with clones and storage drives in addition to TM drives.

  • Can I Get My Money Back?

I bought Dexter the TV series Season 1 on Friday through iTunes. My hearing isn't quite as good as it should be so I was delighted to see that the series had closed captioning. Then I realized that the closed captioning was 10 seconds behind what was actually spoken on the screen rendering the CC option useless. Actually more than useless. Being out of sync by a 10 second lag, it would have been better to not have had it at all since it only took up useless screen real estate. Is there any way to turn the CC option off?
I paid 40 for the download and as far as I am concerned I go a faulty product. Does Apple give refunds for this sort of thing. Who, if anyone, can I complain to at Apple about this? I love the convenience of renting through iTunes but at least in the days of renting a DVD from your neighbourhood video store, if the DVD was faulty you could take it back for a refund/replacement. Does this option exist with iTunes?
    Cheers
    John

I recommend you contact iTunes Store support to report the issue:
    https://expresslane.apple.com/
In UK support is email only, but they are generally helpful and I have had a refund on a poorly encoded movie in the past.
Some movies/tv shows are just not encoded properly - they do sometimes fix things when they are informed about such issues, but if the product is not uop to scratch I would hope they will be able to give you an acceptable solution in the interim.
    Good luck.

  • 480i out of my 6416 STB?

I'm trying to figure out my options for getting my Toshiba HDD DVDr with S-video input to record full screen HD (at SD resolutions I know).
    My options are:
    1. add a component to S-video converter (needs 480i input, about $139)
    2. add a component to S-video converter (accepts anything, about $230)
    3. abandon the Toshiba and buy a DVDr from eBay that has component inputs (maybe $50)
    4. live with the black bars all around
    Question:
Can I even set the 6416 to give me 480i out of the component outs?  The more I think about that, the more I don't think I really want to.  My TV uses HDMI from the STB.  I'd want to keep that at 1081i.
    Any help would be appreciated.

This actually isn't difficult. At least on my 6416, the S-Video output jack is active even in HD channels, in fact I have a JVC S-VHS VCR connected that way.
Just run an S-VHS cable from the back of the 6416 to the S-Video input on the DVR. S-video isn't 480i, and it isn't component, but S-Video is capable of about 400 line resolution. By contrast, SD over the air is limited to about 330 lines. So while S-Video isn't quite as good as 480i, it is very close, and a lot better than composite video.
At any rate, I can watch HD channels as SD full screen by routing the s-video signal through the VCR and into the S-Video input on my TV. I can also record them as SD on the S-VHS VCR, so there is no reason to think you cannot do the same thing with a DVD recorder.
So you should be able to record HD TV to your DVD recorder via the S-Video output on the 6416 while watching HD TV.

  • Is URL data in Unified Smart search field in Safari shared with Google?

I note that Safari 6 now has a unified smart URL and search field.  Does this mean that every URL that is typed into this field is shared with Google?  In other words is this another way for Google to collect data about our online habits and which sites we visit and so on?

Unfortunately, Google is still an excellent search engine. It isn't quite as good as it used to be, but still better than any competitors. Maybe things will improve. Here are some upstart search engines to try:

  • GW Interface Questions

We are looking for direction regarding communicating with Groupwise 7 for the purpose of generating 'Tasks', 'Alerts' and E-mail messages to individuals and groups. It has been suggested that communicating with the Groupwise Gateway API or SOAP would allow us to do this. Is there documentation in regards to how to communicate with these interfaces? If so, where would we be able to obtain them.
We are currently using GroupWise 7.01 on NetWare 6.5. The application or service we are looking to develop will most likely be run on the Linux platform.
    Thank you in advance.
    Robert

First ofall, there aRE developer forums accessible via nntp.
Second, "through a GW interface" has no meaning in any language or
universe. If you mean "can I create tasks programmatically?" Yes, via
SOAP, object api, or api gateway. I already commented on this.
    I'll mention two other APIs
C3PO allows CLIENT-SIDE plugins (win32 only) (eg adding a menu to client
)...TokenAPI allows interactive use of Client (Win32 only) (eg popping
    up the busy search interface)
    now....see below
    >>>
    >>>

    > Thank you for the quick response. Currently we have an admin who does
    > this manually by placing tasks in each individual's task list as a
    > reminder on appeal due dates. We assumed that if it could be done
    > manually, we could automate this function.
Of course. All things can be automated. At worst, you reverse engineer
the code nad write your own. But that's not what you mean
Is there no way to do this
    > through a GroupWise interface?... or should we be developing this
    > outside of GroupWise?
    >
Already commented. Your statement is poorly and unclearly worded, so I'm
ignoring it, after having added what I could.
    > Just to clarify, here are our requirements:
    > We need to be able to have a process that can create Tasks on
    > employee's task lists to alert them to various milestones in the
    > appeals process. For instance, 30, 15, and 5 days before letters are
    > due, certain people should receive a task from the system to complete
    > their work.
    >
You can create a task programmatically. Of course the user has to accept
the tasks, otherwise they only show in the inbox, but that's eactly like
    currently. SOAP and Object API
    > -Any replies generated to these tasks need to go back to humans (a
    > receipt notification of completion)
Well, that's nice. You can set the notification options for the task
before sending. SOAP and object api are again good options.
The FROM address is not settable. It is set as whoever you log in as.
Yes you log in as the sender. Either you supply the username, password
or you use the "Trusted Application API" to access all mailboxes as a
trusted user. The initial generation of the Trusted Key requires Win32,
    thenceforth Object API or SOAP.
    >
    > -Some recipients of these automated messages will need to be a mailing
    > list: we need to send alert messages to certain members or groups
    >
Why do I care. Yes yes recipients. Groupwise supports recipients.
Recipients are good because email travels from one place to another. Of
course if these are internet users they just get the ical equiv of the
task, which isn't quite as good.
Seriously, whatever, programmatically this matters very little. I guess
I should be happy you were complete.
    > -Different messages will be sent daily, potentially many messages
    > (10-20) sent on a given day.
    >
Yes, yes. Of course you'll have to write said program and it will some
how be configured as to this schedule. But that's easy.
BTW 10-20 isnt many. 20000-100000 is many. GW laughs at your feeble
10-20 messages (well assuming they aren't 1 million recips each).
    >
    >
    > Thank you again.
You are welcome. Now, go to developer.novell.com/groupwise . Choose
Object API (if win32 is acceptable, it's a bit easier, more mature, and
faster), or SOAP (cross platform, becoming the flagship), download the
NDK, and write the durn thing. More questions? NNTP the support forums,
and you'll find the dev forums magically too.

  • SAP Permormance on Sun T2000 multi core servers.

    Hi guys,
On some of the newer sun servers, the performance isn't quite as good as what you would expect.
When you are running a specific job, let say patching using saint for instance the process works as expected, but the disp+work process seems to be just allocated to 'one' of the servers CPU's, rather than the process being distributed across the servers multi-cores, and doesn't seem to be much if any quicker.
I'm sure some of our ZONE settings in S10 must be wrong etc, but have followed  the documentation precisely from SAP.
Am i missing some Solaris functionality or do we have to tell SAP to use multi-cores ?
Just intrested in other peoples experiences on the newer Sun servers
    Regards
    James

An ABAP workprocess is single threaded. Basically that means that the speed of any ABAP program is running is CPU-wise only dependent on the speed of the CPU.
An ABAP system can't leverage the multi-core multi-thread architecture of the new processors seen on the single process. You will see e. g. a significant performance increase if you install a Java engine since those engines have multiple concurrent threads running and can so be processed in parallel as opposed to the ABAP part.
What you can do to speed up an import is setting the parameter
    PARALLEL
in the STMS configuration. Set the number to the available number of cores you have. This will increase the import speed since multiple R3trans processes are forked. However, during the XPRA still only one workprocess will be used.

  • Safari v 3: odd behaviour

I've updated my PowerMac G5 to MacOsX 10.4.11 and ever since then Safari and Mail have behaved oddly on my system. Often Safari just hangs without going anywhere despite frequent resets.
I have NO third party add-ons for Safari and should note that I've applied permission fixes, ran Cocktail utilities and the problem still occurs.
My broadband link is between 3 and 5 MB (using speedtest.net) so it is not my ISP's issue.
Mail often hangs oddly and from time to time has to be force-quitted.
Any other users experiencing similar problems since this update?
I am NOT therefore going to install Mac OSX 10.4.11 on my MacBook Pro, which btw works fine.
I am using an Airport wireless network at home with a NetGear router. Firewall is enabled on the Mac and also in the router.
How do I uninstall Safari 3 which on current form is a complete dog.
    Nicholas Down

This is no help, but my G4 iBook running 10.4.11 with Safari 3.0.4 is running like a one legged horse in treacle. Same issues - interestingly one of the sites I have loads of issues with is the apple site, for example trying to log into the uk apple store if I've cleared the cache - it will not recognise the server. There are loads of posts about this on the discussions board, but not a jot of assistance with the actual problem. Must be like the iWeb update (1.0.1), it'll be sorted once they figure it out!
The stock response is download Mozilla Firefox, which isn't quite as good as Safari (my opinion). The problem I am having is that MF is doing exactly the same thing, which I don't understand. I haven't got any third party utilites running either.
