"Gaps" in artwork.

I have a customer who is refusing their final logo files because of "gaps" in the artwork.
Their logo is basically a circle, however since it has multiple gradients in different directions I have sliced it into three pieces. Where the pieces connect you can see the white artboard behind.
You cannot see these joins if you export to high res jpg or if you print direct out of illustrator to paper. I am not even sure if they are really there or just an artifact of two pieces sitting flush against each other.
Can anyone shed any light on this. If the marks are really there and if there is a work around?
Example is attached.
Thanks in advance.

This is how the group appears in illustrator. This is after using the knife tool.
It only appears like this in illustrator and no other output modes. Will upload AI if needed.
Thanks!

  • IPod Classic won't display artwork, delayed gap when playing songs

    Hi there,
Recently I had my computer wiped and upgraded from Windows XP to Windows Vista (Ultimate) The music and iPod were both originally synced to the XP version, Upon reinstalling iTunes on my computer and placing the songs stored on my external hard-drive in my iTunes library and re-syncing my iPod Classic I have found that artwork will not display on the songs (it does display in the side view when browsing through albums though.) along with this whenever I choose a song to play on the iPod there is a long delay with the iPod loading and even just skipping a songs, which is even more annoying, Along with this when I sync my iPod or go to update it, it crashes iTunes
I have tried restoring my iPod countless times, I've enabled disc use, disabled disc use, browsed over and over at the settings and preferences, restored the iPod, reset it, reformatted the iPod, reinstalled iTunes, defraged the iPod (I know its not recommended) performed a disc check on the iPod (which there are apparently no errors) I originally believed it to be corrupted but went through the necessary steps to fix that, I'm at wits end with the thing, any help?
I'm pretty anal when it comes to my iPod being all organised so this is a massive bother to me lol.
Cheers for any help and suggestions,
    Phil

Probably, the easiest way to resolve this is to copy the artwork from one song on an album and paste it into every song on that album.
In your iTunes Library, choose an album that has artwork issues; choose one track that has the artwork and copy it. Then:
the slightly longer method is to check each song individually, until you find the one with the missing artwork. Paste (the copy previously made) from one of the other tracks on the album.
a slightly quicker method is to highlight all the songs on that album (make sure it is just that one album) and paste the artwork into the box.
Sync the iPod with your iTunes Library.

  • Why does the knife tool leave gaps in the shape? (CS6)

When I use the knife tool on an shapeit leaves a gap where I slice. First I thought it was just an illusion in the program but it stays even after I've exported the image (both by "save as" in illustrator and "export" in inDesign). I've been careful not to move the shapeafter I used the tool so I don't think that should be a reason.
I've tried on different types of shapes like normal circles and more complex shapes. I've also attempted to start a new file from scratch but with the same result  What could the reason be? Is there a setting I should be aware of?
This is what I see in Illustrator:
And this is what the image looks like when saved as pdf (in illustrator):
It also looks the same if I place it in inDesign and then export to pdf.
EDIT: I don't know if it is important but the size of the shape is about an A4 or there about.
    Best regards,
    SirSkorpan

Thank you for your reply, I still have a slight problem though,
Turning off anti-aliasing in illustrator did take away the gap when viewing the artwork in illustrator, but as soon as I export it through inDesign or use "save as" to make a pdf the gap is back. Is there an option to turn off anti-aliasing when exporting a document?
This is what I see when zooming in max (6400%) in acrobat reader:
When u say it's a screen issue do u mean that the gap won't show when printed? The problem is that I'm doing artwork that will be shown digital as well. Is there a way to get rid of this?
Thanks again for taking your time.
    Best regards,
    SirSkorpan

    Farooq,
If you look at the first one, you should be able to align quite easily as follows, View>Smart Guides being your friends:
    1a) ClickDrag the top flower with the Selection Tool (black arrow) so it is clear of the pointy part;
    1b) Click an empty spot on the Artboard to deselect, then ClickDrag the top flower by its bottom Anchor Point (Smart Guides say anchor when you are close enough to grab it) down to snap to the top Anchor Point on the pointy part (Smart Guides say anchor when you are close enough);
1c) Do the same for the boroom flower.
If you look at the third one, to get the triangles and the hexagon sized and aligned precisely, you may, creating them with stroke and no fill:
    3a) Click with the Polygon Tool and select a suitable/chosen Radius and 6 Sides, then Object>Transform>Rotate by 30 degrees (or use the Rotate option in the Transform palette), you may Object>Transform>Reset Bounding Box to have it look nicer;
    3b) Click with the Polygon Tool and select the same Radius and 3 sides, then deselect and ClickDrag the top Anchor Point to snap to the top Anchor Point of the hexagon;
    3c) Object>Transform>Rotate by 180 degrees clicking Copy, deselect, and ClickDrag the bottom Anchor Point to snap to the bottomAnchor Point of the hexagon;
3d) Select all and Ctrl/Cmd+G to Group (for alignment purposes, you will know why if you try without grouping, see below).
To create full symmetry, you may use circles rather than almost circular ellipses; you may:
    3d) Click with the Ellipse Tool and select a suitable/chosen Width = height;
    3e) Object>Transform>Move a copy vertically by the Height (= Width) twice (or you may Ctrl/Cmd+D to repeat), to get three circles over one another with no gaps;
3f) Select the topmost and bottommost ones and Object>Transform>Rotate a copy by 120 degrees twice, to have all the seven circles precisley touching one another; you may Group them, but it is not necessary.
    To have everything aligned, just:
3g) Select everything and click Vertical Align Center and Horizontal Align Center in the Align palette; you may click the pointy group or the circles ojnce more before aligning if you want to keep it in place (that will make it the key object that the other set is aligned to).
These ways may also help you further.
Edit: About half an hour after midnight here. High time to attend to other duties, before the sun is up.

  • Unable to link some artwork

I have some purchased music and some imported music from older CDs... nothing out of the ordinary... all mainstream kind of music with easy to find artwork.
I grabbed artwork from iTunes through the "Grab Info" and "Get Album Artwork" menu items. I did this for all my music by selecting all and some came through and most did not. Oddly enough about 20% of my iTunes purchased music (that previously had artwork) did not find artwork.
So, even though I'm easily able to find the specific song / album on iTunes that I want to pull artwork for, I'm not able to figure out how to close this gap. Is there a better way to do this manually or something?
Many thanks in advance for any help....

    Erica,
It sounds like you may not realize that for CD's you add to iTunes yourself, you have to add the artwork yourself as well.
One way to do this is to find the album cover at a web site such as amazon.com. Save the artwork on your computer, a new folder called
    i Album covers
might be helpful for this purpose.
Now it's time to get the artwork into iTunes. Select
    b Library
    in the
    i Source List
    and click on the
    b Browse
icon in the top right corner of iTunes.
Now select the CD in the Browse pane and press the
    b Ctrl
    and
    b I
    keys at the sqame time.
After confirming that you want to edit information for multiple items, you will be taken to the
    i Multiple Song Information
    window. Double-click the large
    b Artwork
box and then navigate to the image you downloaded from amazon.com and confirm that's the image you want.
You will now be able to view the artwork in iTunes by selecting Edit menu > Show Artwork and it should be on your iPod the next time you synch with iTunes.
I hope this is the answer to your problem. If not, post back.

  • New Artwork not accepted!

iTunes has suddenly refused to accept artwork that I wish to add manually for a number of albums that I deleted (and which previously had associated artwork)and which I have now re-installed. When I try to drag the artwork into the artwork box I get a circle with a diagonal line symbol rather than the little + sign. I've also tried adding the artwork via the Info box that appears when I right click a track. Here the artwork appears to be accepted in the relevant box but does not show after I press OK, the artwork box remaining blank. I've tried re-installing iTunes 7.7 but this has made no difference. The artwork is not available for download from the Apple store. Existing artwork for some 5600 tracks is unaffected. Does anyone have a solution, please, as my Coverflow view is spoiled by these gaps!

Whoops! Sorry, folks, I've found the answer! I re-downloaded my albums as wave files, which apparently do not accept artwork! Now I have converted them to Apple Lossless, the artwork is accepted. I think Apple might have warned unsuspecting duffers like me about this!!

  • How to convert all artwork in single layer ? no group / a single layer - illustrator

    Hello,
So now i'm here to ask for some help in illustrator.
In illustrator i design some artwork and now the total layers are about several hundreads. so now i'm about to combine all those artowrk layers in one layer, so that it will be a nice clean file with text layers that are to edit and one single artwork background layer.
    Are there anyways ?

...but it forms a new group and i'm trying to form a new layer so that it contains all artwork but it's a layer [no group].
That's why Steve said you can thereafter simply Ungroup. When you do, everything will be on the same Layer.
Steve's suggestion is taking advantage of the fact that in Illustrator, you can't have members of a Group spanning Layers. Whenever you have a Group, all its members are on the same Layer. So when you Group objects which presently reside on different Layers, they all get moved to the same Layer. So simply invoking Group followed by Ungroup does what you want.
You seem to be confused about what Groups/Layers are. The confusion is common in Illustrator.
Just think of an Illustrator file as a list of objects. Just think of a Layer as a pair of invisible "brackets" around a single range of items in that list. Just think of a Group as the same thing; it's just another pair of brackets around a single range of items in the same list. Both of the "brackets" of a  Group have to be between the "brackets" of a single Layer.
Ill Illustrator, the Layers palette doesn't just list Layers. It also lists all the objects in the document. So the vast majority of the listings in the Layers palette are not Layers; they are just objects which reside within a Layer.
Every object resides on a Layer. You can't have an object that isn't in a Layer. That's why every document contains at least one Layer.
An object does not have to reside in a Group. But if it does, that Group resides within a single Layer. A Group is one of the kinds of objects which can reside in a Layer.
All objects in a Group are contiguous. There are no "jumps" or "gaps" between the objects in a Group. They are all next to each other in the list.
All objects in a Layer are contiguous. There are no "jumps" or "gaps" between the objects in a Layer. They are all next to each other in the list.
So again, just think of a Layer as a pair of "brackets" around a portion of a list of objects. Just think of a Group as an optional pair of "sub brackets" within the "brackets" of a single Layer.

  • Art brush on an ellipse creates a gap

See attached file. I am applying this Art Brush on a perfect circle I've drawn with the Ellipse Tool. It is a closed path. Why the gap? Any way to get it to go all the way around?

Art brushes have a beginning and end regardless of what they are applied to. IF the ends of the art used to create the art brush aren't the same as the , then you'll see the end caps.
Art brushes aren't designed to even out the shape. They simply take your shape and transform it to the path. That miniscule gap between the two ends can be corrected by drawing a no-fill, no-stroke rectangle around the art that stops just short of the end of the artwork and is behind the art. Then drag the art and hollow rectangle to the Brush panel.
For your artwork.. I'd use a Pattern Brush, not an Art Brush.

  • TS2529 Grey iTunes songs / Artwork

I am really annoyed (again) that users are required to implement workarounds for what is patently Apple issues regarding iOS 6.0 software update.
As users, we are not here to plug gaps in unstable / incorrect code.
I spent over 2 hours just resolving an issue created by iOS 6.0, where 75% of my song artwork disappeared, but refuse to adopt the so-called "fix" to eliminate songs which are grey and cannot be deleted, played, etc., this is Apples' role not the Users.
I am not a great believer in so-called "Communities". I just want Apple to fix the issue. Is this asking to much?

See if you can get the artwork to show up on your computer screen.
Then what you do is push the button on the keyboard that says print screen/sysrq.
Then go into a program like Paint and click Edit>Paste
After that you have to click on SLECET option which should be above the paint can. Select only the art work. Copy then open up a new one. Paste.
Then drag the corner so it fills the whole area. Save it. Goto itunes.
click on the song (i'm not sure how to do this for a whole album,or if you just have to do this next part for all the songs) click info> artwork>Add choose the file that you just saved. Then click okay. If that doesn't work:
Just copy the artwork then play a song from the album then click the little up-facing arrow next to the repeat button and drag the artwork there.
    Hope this helps
Ofcourse if you have the cd just insert it and it should have the artwork.

  • ITunes 10.0.7.21 shows a white box instead of artwork for most of my albums.  Many of these are albums I purchased on itunes.  Also when I hit get album art it deleted the artwork it already had form many albums and says it cant find it.

    OS is Windows 7
I updated iTunes the other day and I decided to run "get album art" and instead of finding artwork, it made some of the artwork I already had show up as white squares, or disapear entirely.  The ones that are white squares show up under the get info, but not in itunes.  I did click in view for show al artwork, no luck.  Many of these albums I bought from iTunes.  The ones that the artwork was deleted some albums I can buy on iTunes, but already owned, and iTunes found the artwork before, but now cannot.  Some are albums that I spent many hours finding and adding the artwork myself.  I am very frustrated.  I cannot find the time to manually install artwork for thousands of songs.
My work computer is Windows 8, so I really don't want to hear windows vs OSX argument.  My company won't switch to mac because you like it better, so I just need a solution to my issue.  iTunes it has always worked better for me on my work PC than my macBook, I dont know why, but I don't take two laptops with me when I travel so I have my iTunes library on the PC that has to come with me.  This is the first time an update has screwed things up for me.

Well my first guess was wrong. The line that failed is the one that writes out the image to disk. I've not revisited the code for that script for ages, but it seems I did add in an extra test for missing files a little while later, then forgot to upload the change. I can reproduce the error message if I deliberately rename a file to confuse iTunes so that seems the most likely reason for your problem with the script. I've uploaded a new build of CreateFolderArt which should work better.
See FindTracks for a tool to repair broken links. You should probably get that issue fixed first.
I know what SPSS stands for but that is all I know about it.

Zoom in on the junction between files. Is there a gap in the audio or video?
The usual problem here is that mpeg files often have small differences in the length of the audio and video streams. When you butt them together, this creates small gaps.
I have not experimented with this, and do not know whether using an mpg file (muxed) or m2v/wav/a3c (demuxed) makes a difference. I don't ever put multiple files on one timeline. If I need them on one timeline, I create one file.

Hello, I am getting this error while saving the FSV. My FSV is based on Weeks. Below is what I am inputting for this. Other details are Calender Year -  2017, No. of posting periods - 53, checked year dependent. Also, I have FSV for previous years also where weeks are 52 but configured as 53. So, hope that this is not creating this issue. Solicit your early response.

  • Purchased TV and Movie artwork not showing in iTunes 10.6.1 when stored on a NAS drive

    Hi All
Having searched through the forums here and using Google to cast a wider net.
I am still struggling to see if there is a solution to the missing artwork of TV programmes or films missing when stored on a NAS drive.  All the TV programmes and movies have been purchased through the iTunes store.
The version of iTunes being used is the most recent (10.6.1).
The network drive is hardwired linked to the AirPort Extreme Base Station, this base station is also hardwire linked to the iMac.  The iTunes library resides upon a DROBO FS and has done since it filled the storage capabilities of the iMac.
TV and Films purchased before the migration of the library has the artwork, it is just films and programmes purchased since the migration that don't.
Clicking "Get Album Artwork" has no effect, the same is also true for manually adding the artwork to each episode through the "Get Info" "Artwork" option.  Although the "Get Info" route teases you with an apparent result only to have the artwork "vanish" when you save.
I have seen a solution that involves remapping the iTunes library to the iMac each time you want to download a TV programme or film and then remounting the NAS drive and consolidating the library again, http://www.online-tech-tips.com/mac-os-x/fix-missing-album-art-when-using-a-nas- with-itunes/
This doesn't strike me as much of a solution and doesn't address the TV programmes and films that have already been downloaded.
I am hoping someone in the community is aware of a solution or at least method that is a little more elegant than the one linked to above.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mark

The Apple TV 1 doesn't use homesharing.
Navigate to Settings > Computers > Your Library on the Apple TV, you may be told you will lose all synced content, but you can sync it back afterwards, you won't lose any purchased content that has yet to be transferred. Then select Settings > Computers > Connect To iTunes, note the passcode that appears on screen, click on the device in iTunes and enter the passcode when prompted.

  • Grouping compilations no longer works after adding artwork..!

Until yesterday I had never bothered with adding artwork to my itunes library as I had a gen 3 iPod that would not show it anyway. I have a new ipod so last night I decided to add artwork, this I did by getting what I could from Gracenote, the rest I have been dragging from images on Amazon and other sites. Ever since doing this the Group Compilations option no longer works, despite having this checkbox ticked in preferences and making sure that the yes box for part of a compilation is ticked for these albums. In addition, every song in a compilation album is displayed individually in the Cover Flow view option.
Is this a peculiarity of 7.2 or is there a way I can get this to work again? I am sure it is something to do with having added artwork as it was working fine before.
The help menu in itunes seems to have stopped working too now, which doesn't help...obviously!

  • Sorting Music By (lack of) Artwork

Is there a way to sort your library by those songs that lack artwork?
I want to update the songs without artwork, and need an easy way to locate them.
    Thanks,
    Shaun

    Hello,
As far as I can see, you can't sort the order of music on the iPod Touch. It is always sorted alphabetically.
Maybe you can suggest that as a feature to Apple.
