Garage Band 3.05 and Leopard 10.5.2

I bought Leopard's family pack and recently started by installing Leopard on my Imac 24".
Now Garage Band does not work anymore. I waited and waited and it does not work at all...
When I try to start it, by itself or through a saved file, it does han on and that's it all I get is a "non responding" message in the Force Quit Applications.
Now I really don't feel like installing Leopard on my other computers, so I feel I paid 200.$ to get trouble !!!
I had other bad surprises : like ChatFX disappeared and scriptsoftware indicates it does not work past 10.4.1. Unfortunatly both software are required for my production pipeline.
Please help, it's extremely frustrating.

Turns out that I was looking at the console and there were a number of messages complaining about the local Hostname, I add the name, rebooted, and compressor is functioning again.

  • Open Garage Band Project in Snow Leopard From Lion

So here's my case..  I have a music student and in order to help him up I setup a project using Garage Band on my machine (OSX 10.7.2) for him to open at his house and his machine so we could keep exchanging the file and make changes, etc etc.
He can't open the project at his house. Using a MBPro with Snow Leopard on it.
I then discovered that he has iLife09 and I use iLife 11
    My questions would be:
Is he not geting it because GB Lion generated files would NOT open in GB Snow leopard? OR Because he is using iLife 09.
If he upgrades to iLife 11 he will be able to open the file?
So, I'm trying to figure out if the issue is related to iLife or to Mac OSX.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Difference between Garage Band in MacPro and MacBook - Help

    Hi,
Recently I've bought two new macs (a macbook and a macpro). Both of them came with Garage Band '08 as known. I've updated both of them to the latest version (4.1.1. (248)) but I find a difference when I press the track options: (cmd + I) which is, there are more "synthesizer" effects in my macpro, including for instance, a "CHOIR", a couple of extra guitars and so forth. But on my macbook version (which is apparently fully updated) I don't know how to activate or add (if possible) said features. Any help? I hope Im making myself clear... Thanks

Make sure you have installed all instruments and loops from your DVD - the first installation doesn't do that.

  • Garage Band for IOS and iCloud

    Hi all,
I created a song with Garage Band on my iPad2 which I want to save in the iCloud, load it with Garage Band on my iPhone 4s and then export it as a ringtone.
"Use iCloud" is activated. According to the descriptions I read you have to tap the "Edit" button, select a song and then an iCloud symbol should appear in the Top Bar. But it doesn't. The same on my iPhone.
IOS 6 and Garage Band 1.4 on both devices.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Carsten

Have you activated iCloud as described below?
    Use iCloud with GarageBand

IOS 6 and Garage Band 1.4 on both devices.
The cloud should appear in the top bar, as soonsas you activate "Use iCloud" and go to "Edit" mode. It will be dimmed at first, and become enabled, as soon as you select a song to share.
So, if you do not see the cloud symbol in the toolbar, enabling iCloud must have gone wrong. Are you signed into iCloud on your iPad and iPhone?
This is what it should look like, when you press "Edit" - fitst you see the cloud in the toolbar, as soon as the cloud has been enabled and after selecting a song the "Upload" banner will be shown.:
After the upload your song will show a cloud symbol:

  • Mac-Ignorant.  Can I use Garage Band with PC and Olympia recorder?

I have a 90 minute session I'm trying to podcast. The first thing I did was publish it on mypodcast.com. Naively I thought I could just post that URL in the podcast feed URL. I don't have a MAC. I have a PC. Is there a way (or perhaps a bunch of steps) that I can get my recorded file using Garage Band via my PC? If so then I will download it.... and then if I can use that, where can I post my recording so that I can feed it to itunes? I know a LOT of questions. I did not RECORD using an IPOD.. I recorded using an Olympia Digital Recorder. Please tell me there's a way!!!

GarageBand is Mac-Only, and also commercial

  • Downloaded iLife and installed it to get iDVD. iMovie working, Garage Band not installed and my working iPhoto stopped working. Icon where iPhoto used to be now has a white circle with a line in the middle and error message saying  that it is damaged.

    OS X 10.8.4 (12E55)

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Your MacBook Pro came with iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand, and what you did is to install iLife from a DVD having these applications from the Mac App Store.
What I recommend you is to delete the iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand copy you have. To do it, open Finder, select Applications in the sidebar and delete them. Then, open the App Store, go to Purchases and download iMovie, iPhoto and GarageBand. iDVD will be working after doing this

  • Corrupted Search For Samples and Hidden Garage Band Samples

in logic if you go to garage band instruments, strings and select basses staccato, it searches for the wrong samples for the instrument. how do i clear what ever searches for exs and garage band samples in logc? also those physical samples used in those garage band instruments are named for example
KBstac_downbow_fA#1.wav if you search your hard drive it will not find those samples. where do they reside? are they hidden and why?
so its a 2 part question. how do i reset searching for samples. i ran onyx on spotlight but i don't think logic uses spotlight to search for samples.
    thanks

ok i found out that you have to modify search function to find those garage band samples. the problem i'm having still is there are some garage band instruments that are referencing wrong samples. how do i reset search function

  • Editing audio and samples- garage band fit for the job?

    hey folks,
I'm rather new to Garage band but know other applications quite well (i'm an Acid & soundforge convert).
A few questions to help get me up to speed.
Garage band is great for loops and recording but what about editing samples and existing files?
For example, I have hours of recorded sounds from the streets, etc that I'd like to chop up into loops. Im having trouble zeroing in with garage band on start and endpoints for cropping...
Is Garage band an 'all in one' or are you expected to use an external editing software to do this? IF so, what software are most people using for this?
next question. any easy way to reverse a file in Garage band??? how about use your mouse cursor to define the start point in playback (Kind of important when you're zeroing in while editin).
Sorry for the loaded questions = these are my roadblocks right now...

what about editing samples and existing files?
An audio editor is a better chocie for, well, editing audio:

  • Garage Band is recognizing ".aif" format loops but not ".aiff" format loops

All of the ".aif"-formatted loops (from Jam Packs, etc.) are showing up fine in the Loop Browser, but other loops I bought from third-party vendors that are in the ".aiff" format are not showing up at all in the loop browser. They are all in the same correct folder for loops on my system along with the working Jam Pack loops. I tried dragging and dropping a bunch of these loops onto the blank space on an open session based on some advice I read on the internet, and Garage Band processed them (and created new instrument tracks on the screen for each loop) but they did not subsequently show up in the loop browser as I had hoped. Do I need to reformat these to ".aif" somehow? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Just to follow up, draggging the loop folders into the loop browser didn't work exactly on its own, but I got it to work in the following manner. First I went to the finder and deleted the apple loop indexes in each of the two locations where apple loops are stored in my computer (note to Apple: why multiple different folders for Apple Loops?). Then I dragged all of the Apple Loops that were stored in the second loops folder (in the Library under "Audio") to the first Apple Loops folder. Then I dragged both entire Apple Loops folders (required even though the second one was now empty) into the loop browser. Upon dragging the second one in, Garage Band automatically began reindexing my loops and then everything showed up in the loop browser correctly, finally. Apparently both (or all) locations where Garage Band stores loops must be individually dragged into the loop browser to trigger the reindexing process. This process was harder than it should be and I feel like it represents an annoying bug in Garage Band, in addition to the help from this post I also had to google research the problem for quite some time to figure out this process.

  • Can anyone tell me how to slow down a commerical track in Garage Band 10.00.  I was able to do it quite easily before I updated, but now find I am unable to do it.  Would be grateful for any help

Can anyone tell me how to slow down a commercial track in Garage band 10.00  I was able to do this in the earlier version of Garage Band quite easily and it is a good tool for being able to teach new dances, but I find I am unable to do it in the new version, which has just been updated.  I would be grateful for any help.

    Just found it.
Select your track with song imported from iTunes, open the Track Editor window, and in the head of the track editor  and press the "Flex" marker. Make sure "Enable Flex" is set,
Then change the tempo of your project.

  • How to import analog audio into garage band

I have an iMac  with 2.5 GHz Intel Core 5i 8 GB memory OSX 10.7.5 and I am trying to import analog audio from a reel to reel tape deck so I can edit it and burn to a CD. I have a elgato video capture device with RCA female plugs on one side and USB on the other. (I've used this device to import analog video and audio to iMovie and Adobe Premiere Elements). I am told that I could import analog audio to Garage Band to edit and burn , however when I launch Garage Band I am not sure what part of the program I should be selecting and how to go about importing the analog audio. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Garage band 10.2

I just upgraded to Garage Band 10.2 and now cannot convert my projects - a radio program  to MP3.  It converts to AAC.  I need to be able to convert to MP3 to upload to station.
    Help!

My guess is that you upgraded to GarageBand 10.0.2 and not 10.2
This version now lets you export your song as an mp3 file (which was not possible in version version).
Use the "Export Song to Disk" command in the the Share Menu. That opens a Dialog where you can select the mp3 format
    Hope that helps
