Garage band lesson download fails

I'm on Yosemite 10.10.2
Garage Band is 10.0.3 but don't look in "About Garage Band" because that doesn't work!
I simply tried downloading a lesson from Garage band. The download seems to complete the 1.3 gig file dowloaded then fails to add to my library.
Every time I restart Garage Band it tries to download the file and fails every time. THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS FROM APPLE but it gets so much better.
I called support and after 2 days and about 3 hours they said.....OH YEAH....its a known issue and Engineering is working on it.
Here's a thought.....DISABLE DOWNLOADS FROM THE LESSON STORE!!!!
Then I was told they can send me a gift and not refund my money????
A memory stick sir? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!!
How about ear buds sir? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!
How about you refund my money! PERIOD.
I'm told due to licensing that Apple cannot refund my money? HAHAHA Get a grip. You connected to my system and can clearly see what I paid for IS NOT on my computer so refund my money and fix this software and disable the downloads until you fix it.
MAN I MISS STEVE JOBS!!!!!

Same problem I had and Apple Store could not help me.  But there is a solution that another guy posted the other day on this board you should try.  It really works.  This is the link to his post.

Its a bit technical and doesn't make up for the fact that Apple has been negligent in fixing the problem so the downloading works as intended.  Be sure to follow the thread as there is more explanation on how to accomplish this work around.

wswilkinson ... sorry for the slow get back, my dance card has been full.
I've used 3rd party loops or samples. Myself I don't care for them because for me they seem to "lead" me in a direction. The loops direction .... maybe not how I started the song. So I haven't saved many loops into GB. When I did I had just "read how to" . ... then fumbled through it. So I can find those by searching for the names of them.
Even if I haven't saved many I think I understand how GB goes things.... but could be wrong.
GB has dozens & dozens of loops. Broken up in many groups. Country , Rock , World , yada yada .... Lots !! If you hit say "World" you'll find dozens of loops of ALL types. Drums, horns , keyboards , etc. But they are all mixed together.... if you just hit "World". So I have to test drive most sounds to hear what they are if I don't know what they are. GB breaks "World into different sounds too .... Bass , etc if you hit those. How did they get that way is what you want to .... Did GB just do it ??  Heck if I know .... One of the best places on GB info is
http://www.bulletsandbones.com/BBPages/Stuph/MusicianStuph.html  so check here and please lets us know what you find out.
My thought is make a folder like I said ... named what you want . "My Loops"   ( meaning they didn't come with GB " ) Break everything up into sub folders ... which I guess you may save/add  to as you go a long. When you're done add that to GB's loops. Then look to see if "your" loops have been mixed into GB with you "only" adding the  "My Loops" folder with it Sub groups .. You can always delete something if it doesn't work as you wish ... "ponder things " and try again.
Never have fear to jack around with things !! It's not screwed your life up yet ... Close GB & DON'T Save It if you're not happy ...
    Peace & Good luck

  • Garage band already installed but now its again downloading 1.17gb

MACBOOK AIR 128gb 13 inch, I am using Yosemite 10.10.1
my garage band is downloading again 1.17 gb. how to stop this?

    Hi Marc,
As mentioned above, because of the way that SBO converts version numbers in to integer values to compare between versions, you do need to make sure that each segment of your version numbers have the same number of digits.
With regards to the version number message, please check that there is no reference to the older version of the add-on in either the AddOnsInstall.sbo or AddOnsLocalRegistration.sbo files. These are XML files that are stored in the SBO client folder on the workstation. They hold details of which add-ons are installed and which ones are pending. If the older version does appear then you can remove that <AddOn> node, resave the files and then restart SBO to see if this corrects the problem (note: if you are not familiar with these files then I recommend you make a temporary backup of them before doing any editing).
    Kind Regards,
    Owen

  • Cant get rid of download error message in garage band learn to play

I had trouble downloading lessons 5 and 7 in the Blues Guitar learn to play.  I found a discussion addressing this, and was able to complete the down load by logging into the guest account.  I have all the lessons, but now I can't get rid of the error message that says Garage Band still is waiting to download the lessons.  When I click on the message it refers me to call the Apple Store.  I was in their electronic feedback loop for 15 mins before I bailed.  Any ideas?

Might be easiest to run their uninstall app.
This might mean you have to reinstall it if it is already deleted or better yet download and just mount the volume to open the folders to get to the uninstaller.

  • Problem with guitar lesson nr.7 Garage Band '09

Garage Band '09 cannot complete download of 7th guitar lesson. What can I do?

Ok now it runs perfectly after I have repaired permissions.

  • HT4710 Where do I find previously purchased guitar lessons on Garage Band?

I've just tried to redownload a previously purchased lesson from within an updated Garage Band.
It did aknowledge that I had already purchased the item/lesson and, as it usualy did with the songs from iTunes a few months ago (just before iCloud), it asked me if I wanted to repurchase the item.
As I had no other visible way of redownloading the lesson I pressed the ok button.
The problem is that, afterwards, it did, in fact, charge my credit card for this redownload. As a matter of fact it did charge my credit card twice since I did click the button a second time few seconds after, as I wasn't sure that everything was right.
So now, I've paied 3 times for the same lesson:
    - 1st one, the 9th of January of 2010.
    - 2nd and 3rd, the 11th of August of 2012.
Does anyone know how can I redownload all the lessons I've purchased back in 2010?
Since I've updated to the latest version of Garage Band (sold through the App Store) I've lost all of them. What can I do?
I know Apple aknowledges the sell of those (anyway I have the invoices), but I can't find any of those applestore purchases I've made prior to the last 18 months (I'm refering to my Apple Store Account > Orders page)
And since now we don't have Express Lane anymore I'm in a deathend!
Thanks in advance for any help!

    Have you already tried this?
GarageBand: Re-downloading Learn to Play Artist Lessons
To download a purchased Learn to Play Artist Lesson again later:
Log in to your Apple Store account and vIew your order history.
Click any lesson to download it again.
For me this worked beautifully. After signing into the account and viewing the Order history, I found Sting waiting for me to download again.

  • How do I use Garage Band to practice my guitar against lesson CDs and backing track CDs

How do I use Garage Band to practice my guitar against lesson CDs and backing track CDs

GarageBand on your Mac or on an iPad?
If you are asking abot GB on a Mac you do the following:
Create a new GarageBand project with a Guitar track
Insert the CD and drag the audio file of the Lesson track or backing track to an empty region below the tracks in the timeline of the GarageBand window.
Plug in a set of head phones and put them on to listen to your backing track.
Plug in your guitar and select the guitar track.
Click on the measure where you want to start your recording and select the guitar track.
Press "record" and start to play.

    MacBook Pro, iOS 7.0.6
Your signature lists both, Mac and iOS device - are you asking about GarageBand on your Mac or your iPhone/iPad?
If you are asking about the upgrade from GarageBand '11 to GarageBand 10.0 on your Mac, the old GarageBand version should still be installed. The installer will have moved GarageBand '11 to a separate folder "GarageBand 6.0.5" in your Applications folder. Open this folder and click "GarageBand".  Does this version still see your old projects?  If not, type ".band" into the Spotlight searchfield in the upper right corner of your screen. Does that sfind your missing projects?
If you are asking about GarageBand on iPad/iPhone, there it is not possible to restore the previous version after you upgraded. And I do not see, how this upgrade could have deleted your projects. Have they completely vanished, or can you not open them any longer? If your projects have vanished, restore your device from your backup: See:  iCloud: Backup and restore overview

    Hi, Hugo,
In similar cases it helped to remove the GarageBand "Preferences" file from the User Library.
    Open the folder
your home folder > Library > Preferences
and move the file "com.apple.garageband.plist" to the Desktop.
Then try again to launch GarageBand.

In the middle of downloading an update for garage band and lost the connection, now the app won't open or finish the download.  Can I reinstall the app without losing my music?

The obvious way to resolve this on a computer would be to uninstall the app, then reinstall it, however on an iOS device that would cause all the data assoicated with the app to be thrown away.
Make sure your iTunes library has the latest updates for all your apps, then backup and restore the device. This should pull back a fresh copy of the app from your iTunes library and then give it the data from your device backup.

  • How can I cancel "The Garage Band content is now downloading" once it starts? I thought it would show the size of the download, but it just assumes I have unlimited bandwidth, instead of mobile data rates which are super expensive.

Once it started, it just shows it's progress and there's no option I can find to stop the download.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

  • Can anybody help me? i have an error message about internet connectivity when i try to download garage band content every time.

I am having issues with logicpro x and garage band using marverics.
After the installation is done when opening the program almost 90% trhu i get an error message content could not download because of internet connectivity.
I try different connection still same error mesage.
Any body had the same issue, can you help please

After the installation is done when opening the program almost 90% trhu i get an error message content could not download because of internet connectivity.
Is this the in-app purchase, that does not suucceed? Then check this support document:
GarageBand for Mac (v10.0): Unable to complete in-app purchase
The error message can also be due to antivirus software or firewalls peventing the installer to contact the store.  Then it would help to boot your Mac into Safe mode, to disable all non-standard extensions and try again to download the additional content:
See this:   Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode

then had to find out (same as with this issue) that I presently have other software that will not run on Maverics.
You could create a clone of your drive with all your current software, so you could continue to work with your Snowleopard software by booting from the clone, and upgrade your main system to Mavericks, if your computer supports Mavericks.    This way, you could have both, if the new features of Mavericks are interesting to you -  e.g-, iCloud syncing of multiple Macs, new sharing features, and for GarageBand automatic drummers and arpeggiators.

  • Garage band in app purchase won't download on my macbook pro

I wish to buy the £2.99 additional content on the new garage band but as I enter my password for a second time it opens up a black page on the apps store and does not load at all. I have tried all the basics (re logging in and checking for unfinished downloads) but none of this has seemed to help. On the purchases tab there is no evience that i ever try to purchase it. Help please :')

You can download 10.9 from the App Store, providing your MBP meets the requirements.
    Mavericks requirements:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5842
If your machine supports 10.9 Mavericks, go to the App Store and type Mavericks in the search bar and it will take to the download.
